I’ve redacted the parts that might give it away. (Or at least I think I have—is this a very recognizable mountain range? Not my area of expertise.)

To be clear, the country name is only the first four characters: 伊太利亜. The last two, 市場 [いちば], mean market or marketplace.

伊太利亜 (or often just 伊太利) is read イタリア. Yes, it's Italy! And all four characters are common in ateji, so pay particular attention to the on-yomi!

伊 is read かれ or イ; it's actually the source of katakana イ. Its original meaning is “that one,” but today it’s used mostly in proper nouns or as an abbreviation for Italy.

太 is read ふと (ふと.い, ふと.る), タイ, or タ (which is its most common ateji reading). It means thick, fat, plump, wide, big around, etc. Don't confuse it with 犬 dog; mnemonic here!

利 is read き.く or リ; it's actually the source of katakana リ. It means profit, advantage, or benefit.

亜 is read つ.ぐ or ア. Its original meaning is rank next/come after, but today, it usually means Asia (亜細亜; usually アジア). However, it also shows up in all kinds of country ateji! Watching Iria: Zeiram the Animation (イ・リ・ア ゼイラム ジ アニメーション, I.R.I.A. Zeiramu Ji Animēshon), stylized as I・Я・I・A ZЁIЯAM THE ANIMATION....these scenes are from the 2nd episode, Visage. *****Spoiler Alert***** . . . . . . . While played for comedy as a fanservice moment, this initially accidental but ultimately intentional grope by Kei of Iria is sapphic...because Kei is actually a girl; something not revealed until a few episodes later. Kei is definitely a tomboy, so her being a budding lesbian isn't particularly shocking. Iria is naturally irritated by the non-consensual grope regardless of Kei's gender, plus the age difference with Kei on the just on the verge of puberty with all the emotional and physical development that entails. Iria is still perceiving Kei as a precocious little boy and Kei hasn't corrected her misperception as yet. It is Fujikuro (フジクロ, Fujikuro) who later susses out that Kei is a girl, by her smell, he claims (ewww). This revelation made me remember this scene and how it changes some things with the new context. I definitely don't "ship" these two, but they do rather develop into a Senpai - Kohai relationship, with Iria mentoring Kei in the ways of becoming a professional (bounty) hunter.

Hiragana and Katakana / ひらがな、カタカナ

There are 3 types of characters in Japanese - Hiragana, Katakana, and Kanji.

Hiragana(ひらがな) is the easiest to read, and every sentence can be written in it, just like alphabet in English, even if we don't know correct Kanji.

Katakana(カタカナ) is another version of Hiragana, used for the words from foreign countries. For example, we write "ケーキ"(from "cake" in English) or "パン"(from "pão" in Portuguese, which means "bread" in English) as both didn't originally exist in Japan.

Kanji was brought from China, of course, and were developed as Japanese characters. Each Kanji has each meaning, so it makes us easier to understand what it exactly means. For example, when we see "いし", we don't know what it means because we have many words of the same sound ;石(stone), 意思(intention), 医師(doctor), etc.

Japanese sentences are made up of a mixture of these three types of characters.

orange colored characters are sometimes different from the original sounds.（は may be pronounced "Wa", へ may be "E", and it depends on how to use the character in the sentence.)

I started learning katakana, which is used for foreign words, names, and onomatopoeia. Just like hiragana, katakana has 46 characters. Here’s the complete list with their pronunciations:
