robin's kindness was genuine and come one hundred percent with no strings attached. she knew all too well what it was like to have any type of nice gestures come at a price. usually, nothing was ever given freely and that was just sad. that's why she would never do that to someone else. if she was helping them she was doing so because she wanted to and not to get something out of them later. if only more people were that way the world would be a better place.

"you've got it." padding across the cabin she went to the mini-fridge and got a bottle of water out of it. coming back she handed it to jackie. "this should help." water and fresh air were the two things that always helped her the most after a nightmare or any other bad experience. at home, she'd often herself outside wandering the streets late at night just to get away from her father when he was in one of his moods or when he passed out after a rough night. here she didn't have to think about him and she tried not to but it was hard. after living her life as the victim of his wrath for so long it was hard to just let it go - to realize that she was safe from him. that no one was going to hurt her.

"totally." she pulled her own jacket over her slim shoulders and stepped into her worn, graffitied red converse and followed. going outside alone after dark in this place made her feel uneasy. especially after all the campfire stories about it's gruesome past. and it took a lot to scare robin buckley. she wondered if jackie felt the same but she didn't want to ask. it just drew attention to unnecessary fears before they ventured out into the quiet, still night of redwood. "right behind you." she assured her. more than anything robin wanted jackie to know she wasn’t alone.
