Nascido em Altalune, Hyunjae teve a infância típica de uma criança moradora das ilhas Kainoa & Hōkūlani. Sua família foi uma das inúmeras que chegaram ao arquipélago durante a onda de investimentos que ocorreu nos anos 1970, tornando-se proprietária de um modesto pedaço de terra e uma das responsáveis pela produção de verduras e hortaliças para abastecimento local através. Foi através desse amor pelo cultivo sustentável – que os acompanhava desde a Coréia do Sul – que seus pais e avós sempre lhe mostraram a importância de se cuidar do meio ambiente e de se preservar a terra, para que as gerações futuras também possam usufruí-la da mesma maneira que eles.

Seguir o pai pela fazenda durante a juventude, principalmente quando ele ia até as plantações já havia se tornado uma tradição. Apesar de ainda não ter a força necessária para carregar as ferramentas, sempre teimava em tentar erguê-las a qualquer custo, o que lhe rendeu inúmeros machucados até crescer o suficiente para conseguir levantá-las do chão sem o perigo de as derrubar. O ciclo que ia do plantio até a colheita continuou atraindo-lhe a medida em que atravessava a adolescência, período em que passou grande parte do tempo com as mãos enfiadas dentro de luvas de trabalho, ajudando a família de todas as formas que podia, sendo justamente nessa fase de sua vida que finalmente decidiu que queria cursar agronomia na Universidade de Altalune e assumir a fazenda quando o momento chegasse.

A impressão de que os anos pareceram correr mais rapidamente após finalizar o ensino médio era aterradora, principalmente ao perceber as responsabilidades que lhe recaíam à medida que o tempo passava. Foi próximo ao final do terceiro ano de curso que começou a duvidar se o caminho que trilhava era realmente correto. A vida em Nerissa o atraía mais do que poderia imaginar – culpava com firmeza a dinâmica agitada e frenética que ela possuía, além das pessoas que conhecera no caminho –, e agora já não tinha mais certeza se queria realmente abandonar seu estilo de vida atual, além de seu emprego como barista, para retornar ao sossego do campo.

Quando finalizou o curso, todas as incertezas vieram à tona de uma só vez. Era hora de decidir, mas fazer isso parecia ter se tornado uma tarefa impossível. Acabou se mudando para Taki e postergando sua volta para casa com a desculpa esfarrapada de que ainda possuía responsabilidades com a cafeteria em que trabalhava e que isso o prenderia ao seu emprego por um período maior do que o esperado. A desculpa pareceu funcionar, e as ligações e visitas constantes de sua mãe perguntando quando ele voltaria para casa reduziram drasticamente – afinal, ela havia criado alguém responsável e profissional, e disso ela sempre se orgulharia.

Demorou para que reunisse a coragem necessária para ser sincero em relação à sua indecisão e ao seu medo com a família, mas, assim que deixou todo o sufoco escapar, foi surpreendido por uma maré de apoio à sua decisão de permanecer em Taki, com seu emprego – a experiência com o café poderia ser útil para futuros negócios –, e retornar à Kainoa & Hōkūlani quando estivesse devidamente pronto.

Os anos se passaram com rapidez, mais uma vez, e com eles novas surpresas atingiram a vida de Hyunjae: acabou por ser promovido ao cargo de gerência da Caffeine Corner, cafeteria em que trabalha desde o início de sua vida adulta, e, inesperadamente, conheceu alguém, diferente de todos os outros que vieram antes, que logo fez com que começasse a enxergar a vida através de uma perspectiva diferente.

Com o envelhecimento de ambos e o acréscimo das responsabilidades para com os seus respectivos empregos, “juntar as escovas de dente” se tornou a melhor decisão que poderiam tomar no momento. Depois de inúmeras discussões e brigas saudáveis, finalmente resolveram se acomodar em Taki, pelo fato da ilha reunir aspectos que agradavam aos dois. Por mais que estejam convivendo com essa mesma “rotina” há quase um ano, Hyunjae não se considera nem um pouco farto dela.

Biography: 

by all accounts, ahn hyunjae had led a successful, though short, life. part of south korea’s biggest idol groups, hyunjae rose to fame with the other members of well-respected and globally loved boy group imaginair. beyond being just a member of imaginair, hyunjae was also responsible for composing a none-too-modest portion of the group’s discography, something especially worth bragging about considering his company’s high standards. he lived and breathed music, writing, and performing, even in harder times when his passion would wane. but even in those times, his ever-growing fanbase would be there to help lift him back up.

but even a legion of fans pledging undying loyalty to their bias could not hold back the backlash brought on by back-to-back scandals and years of undue criticism of his skills and background as a rapper. public disapproval and hate would pile up in response to things out of hyunjae’s control, and he became well-acquainted with the ugly side of the idol life.

at the age of twenty-six years, before having the chance to finally prove his worth as a rapper and an artist, ahn hyunjae would pass away in a car accident. and that’s where his story would have ended, as far as he would ever know—at least, it would have, if he hadn’t been flipping through a copy of aura that had been gifted to him at the fanmeet just before the accident.

instead, a horribly confused hyunjae would find himself waking up in the kingdom of elestren, a fictional kingdom he’d only vaguely recalled from his memory of the book pages he skimmed in the “real” world. for a while he thought he was in limbo—then considered maybe he ended up in hell. when he received his first vision, he knew this had to be punishment for something.

taliesin the oracle, as he now found himself to be called, was a self-proclaimed seer. he had visions of the future and performed tales of caution through the clever medium of song. though the title of seer was self-proclaimed, taliesin’s visions were very real.

early in the aura book, taliesin’s visions would foreshadow important plot elements. his songs would serve as prophecies meant to clue in the reader to the upcoming twists and turns the story would take. however, taliesin would largely disappear from the story as the reader continued, a disregarded part of a larger narrative. he faded into the background until he was forgotten altogether.

for someone as self-important as ahn hyunjae, he refused to let himself fade away so easily—especially when he continued to suffer from these visions. taliesin may be content to let the story unfold around him, but hyunjae’s aim is to use his powers to have an impact on the narrative. even if this world isn’t real, he will make himself an important figure. working his way up from a bar performer, hyunjae seeks to gain an audience from the crown prince or the fairy, understanding them to be the main characters of the story. perhaps if he can lead the story to a good ending instead of a bittersweet tragedy, he can earn his way back home.

HELLO SEONGNAM !!! it’s velvet (@sejunsgn’s mun!), back at it again with another muse... ahn hyunjae! if you recognise him, he was jungsgn a few months ago. a dancer with a one-track mind. he’s back, this time a bit grumpier and 5x more emotionally constipated. there are a few changes! now, he’s the tenacious premade, so you know he doesn’t exactly shy away from backstabbing if he needs to.

anyways! if you want to learn more, i have his profile and background up. as always, LIKE THIS POST if you want me to approach you for plotting. under the cut i will be listing a brief summary of who he is in general and possible connections. i can’t wait to write with all of you!

the tldr

he came from a relatively well-off family, his father being an actor and his mom being an ex-idol/dancer. his parents divorced not long after he was born. he doesn’t speak with his dad

his mother injured herself and she couldn’t continue performing. because of that she shoved all her dreams onto hyunjae, shaping him into what she wanted to be regardless of what he actually wants

because of that he feels like an empty shell, he has a one-track mind focused on dance and doesn’t allow himself the luxury of enjoying anything else. despite this he is a very talented dancer

he’s kind of lost? he has a path made out for him by his mother and she controls every aspect of his life from when to smile to how to breathe so he feels pretty bland and isn’t in touch with his emotions At All

he doesn’t really try to get along with anyone because it’s ingrained in him that people are a hindrance and will only distract him from his ultimate goal which is. his mom’s dream. so he doesn’t indulge himself in socialising much

not having any way to channel his feelings including the bitterness and anger, he may come across a bit harsh and matter-of-fact at times, but he has the soul of a joker inside. he’s very clingy to those he care about! it’s like there’s two people in him, the personality that his mom indirectly built and who he really is

he finished his military service before entering seongnam! it was upon his mother’s request, she wanted him to focus solely on dance

he has an eating disorder, he exercises way over the healthy amount and purges by puking out the contents of his meal. this all stems from his mother and his constant scrutiny on his body image. he hasn’t spoken about this to anyone else, really. even with his eating disorder, he likes to cook, even though his mother disapproves and it makes things harder on him. it has gotten slightly better, which is why he eventually joined the cooking club in seongnam

cooking club buddies! unfortunately, because of reasons, even after he makes an extravagant meal, he usually gives it away to someone else. maybe you’re one of the people who he usually gives it to

dance partner, maybe? he’s overly critical on himself and he might be the same way with you, but you are also someone he respects in the field of dance. even though the devil inside him (whispers from his mom) is telling him to upstage you in every way

É claro que ninguém pede para vir ao mundo, principalmente se aqueles que fazem uma criança passar a existir acabam a abandonando ainda nos primeiros meses de vida e assim ela tende a viver em um orfanato até a maioridade. Por isso que a vida de Ahn Jae-eon nunca havia sido fácil, teve de lidar com todas as dificuldades e crueldades do mundo sozinho e em um lugar onde ainda era maltratado por outros adultos que em nada estavam preocupados com os órfãos.

Quando saiu então do orfanato as dificuldades só pioraram, não tinha para onde ir e nenhum lugar parecia querer um funcionário sem teto para trabalhar. Vida cruel e pessoas ainda mais cruéis. Todavia, quase não acreditou quando o dono de uma pequena loja de conveniência o contratou e ainda ofereceu um colchão que tinha no estoque para que o jovem pudesse dormir. Jae-eon nunca tinha recebido gentilezas de outras pessoas e isso até justificava seu jeito explosivo e frio com tudo à volta. e foi inegável o quão ficou grato àquele homem e prometeu a si mesmo que nunca iria o esquecer.

Por alguns meses foi ali que trabalhou, até ser descoberto por um agência que viu no jovem o potencial para se tornar um modelo. Não era como se tivesse muitos planos de vida, somente sabia que o importante era ganhar dinheiro o suficiente para viver e até se surpreendeu ao ver que aquela profissão poderia render algo a mais do que esperava. Foi outra oportunidade vinda do céu e graças a ela a vida dele tomou um outro rumo e um tempo depois já se tornava um nome conhecido dentro da indústria.

Mesmo com a guinada na vida, Jae-eon nunca se esqueceu de seu passado e das poucas pessoas que importavam para si, mantinha-se mais reservado em relação a mídia e as pessoas com que se envolvia, seja profissionalmente ou em sua vida pessoal.  Porém, quando alguns rumores passaram a surgir pelos corredores de sua empresa e em seguida pela imprensa, se viu no centro de um enorme escândalo.

Jae-eon tinha um filho. E o pior: a mãe, essa que apenas teve um breve caso durante uma viagem a Busan,  simplesmente havia entregado a criança recém nascida nos braços do homem, dizendo que nunca voltaria e que não estava pronta para a maternidade. Até então, o homem nem sabia daquela criança e sequer imaginava que iria encontrar o antigo romance novamente. Ele também não estava pronto para ser pai, mas era incapaz de deixar que aquela criança que tinha vindo ao mundo por uma irresponsabilidade sua, passasse pelo mesmo que tinha passado por boa parte de sua vida. Foi assim então que o pequeno Hyunjae se tornou o mundo de seu pai que agora fazia o seu melhor para ser bom para o pequeno e o proporcionar o melhor como bem merecia e totalmente diferente do que tinha tido quando criança.

Mesmo que já tivesse uma carreira consolidada na indústria da moda, o escândalo o impactou negativamente e por um tempo viu seus trabalhos diminuindo. No início foi difícil, mas por outro lado tinha alguém que dependia de si e iria fazer o seu melhor pelo filho. Partindo disso, Jae-eon então resolveu deixar a carreira um pouco de lado, já que em meio aos compromissos poderia se tornar ausente para o pequeno, assim resolvendo focar em algo que o fizesse participar da vida de Hyunjae.

Graças a umas conversas com um conhecido soube de Mugunghwa e ali naquela ilha viu a chance de ter uma vida tranquila com seu filho e se reencontrar em outra profissão também. A criança pouco entendia essas coisas, mas se mostrava animada com a mudança e após isso, pareceu se adaptar rapidamente. Já o homem sentiu falta da antiga rotina agitada e das viagens, entretanto ainda estava feliz e enfim pôde retomar a vida profissional ao conseguir um emprego como gerente de um restaurante na ilha. Poderia parecer totalmente diferente do que estava acostumado, mas tinha ingressado na faculdade de administração logo que saiu do orfanato, então poderia exercer a profissão tranquilamente, além de ser um bom cozinheiro em casa, mas isso não era tão importante quanto tudo o que poderia aprender dali para frente.
