The adeptus ‘Beast of Blooms’ has long since faded from Liyue history, vanishing into legend and myth. The last sighting of the beast was 500 years ago, locked in a battle against creatures from the abyss. Some believe that the adeptus fell at the hands of those abyssal creatures, defending the people of Liyue from the impending threat even at the cost of their life. Others, however, are convinced that the beast still lives to this day, walking amongst the mortals that that they had given so much to protect.

Can’t remember which of these I have / haven’t shown before lol 😭 These are all from her old outfit (gonna post her revamped ver soon 👀) and honestly looking at these (particularly the last one) makes me miss her backless top because her stripes were one of my fave parts of her design but I had to mostly cover them up in her new version 😔 maybe if i ever make her an event skin or smthn i’ll make it backless hahshnd

Mao Hua’s backstory can basically b summarized in the ‘I’m a healer but…” meme HAHAH

For as nice and warm as she is, Mao Hua is a morally grey person, whose main motivation is herself and the persons she cares for. She doesn’t meddle much in the lives of humans, unless they come to her first and are willing to bear the cost of her assistance.

The ‘favors’ Mao Hua can carry out vary in nature. They can be simple, like finding a missing item or attaining information, ranging all the way to favors that require more discretion. Either way, the price will always be the same–– Mao Hua will be owed a favor, and no matter what she asks, it must be delivered. 

Also yes her basic attack animations consist of her grabbing her book / catalyst and physically beating the shit out of her opponent. And her plunge attack is her drop kicking her enemy lmao

She’s got several tattoos on her aside from the big pink one on her right arm !! Mostly flower themed, and also neon pink.

❦⠀|⠀Personality !!

⠀ Generally very warm and approachable. A ‘mom friend’ who lacks naivete and is a reliably good voice of reason to those who need one. Mao Hua is playful and fun with friends, though her presence is neither loud nor particularly attention-grabbing.

⠀ She’s very non-confrontational and uninterested in choosing sides, such as when the Liyue Qixing and the Adepti were on rough ground. She merely washed her hands of their argument, saying that since her contract of employment to Rex Lapis had been long void, their spat was no concern of hers. “Arguments are too long, too messy. They’re not worth the energy or the trouble of getting unnecessarily involved,” is one of her reasons for leaving them to their own devices.

⠀However, when it comes to the favors that she agrees to do, or matters that concern her or those she keeps close, Mao Hua is much more determined and goal-oriented. Although she has her own set of morals and rules that she follows, she ensures that her objectives are met, even if it means doing things that others may consider immoral. Because of these recurring moral conflicts, she has grown more cunning at ensuring ends’ meet while also keeping herself out of any permanent trouble.

Falls asleep in trees a lot! Scares the shit out of Liyue citizens when she accidentally rolls off of branches in her sleep lmao

An old adeptus. Struck a deal with Rex Lapis during the Archon War, a favor for a favor. This agreement has since been fulfilled.

Doesn’t hold any particular Archon in reverence, not even Rex Lapis. If anything, she just saw him as her boss, but not as some god.

Although she does favors, she’s choosy about which ones she accepts. Especially ones that require discretion and legal maneuvering. But as a general basis she won’t do anything that could endanger herself, her people, or the contracts that are still presently relevant to her (i.e her contracts with Rex Lapis and the Liyue Qixing.)

She’s saved a lot of money across her life to the point that she sees mora as a mere trivial thing. It’s one reason why she chooses favors as the price for her services.
