//I'm actually thrilled I've dedicated more time to tumblr again, it's given me a lot of time to chew over Honeydew's personality, motivations, and who she is from a clearer perspective. Or maybe she's evolving with time, but for the better compared to how she initially started 5 years ago. Hell, she's VERY different from how she began.

//To get to the point: I've decided she's no longer a massive simp for Cell-- or more accurately, will NOT comply with ideas and situations that fully compromise the safety of Earth. Now, her feelings romantically and physically? Downright pathetic levels of simpery.

"Kill a guy or a group? Sure, if I have no strings attached to them, guess it's what I'll do to help you. Destroy Earth? Nah, I live here dude. Plus I love my [friend name(s)], so no. Not uh. Not gonna do it."

//I know she has her beef with people who've done her dirty, but I believe she'll never truly lose her humanity. As my husband said earlier today, "You don't want to recreate a Harley Quinn type of character." AND FOLKS? I FELT THAT.

//At some point, I think I got way, way too close to that archetype with Honey. For her to be the kind of person who would just drop-kick millions of innocents for some Cicada snu-snu is not what I had in mind! But when it came to giving her reasons to stick around despite everything, I pigeonholed her into that role unintentionally. It felt cringe, and it was cringe, for a long time. Now that I'm re-examining her, she's still flawed, but with a healthier undertone by comparison.

//She has her reasons for staying by Cell's side, mostly to see that her own ambitions and goals are reached with his guidance. She loves him, but she won't force herself to do anything she knows is a step too far. Honeydew almost serves as the occasional angel on Cell's shoulder, looking to persuade him to make better use of his aggression instead of doing the unthinkable (Namely, the mass destruction of their home planet)

//Alternatively, will play the devil and insist he move to another planet and do CELL GAMES 2!!!!! As long as it's not Earth? She could let the behavior slide. She'll always be morally grey to that extent, but no doubt leaning towards being a 'hero'. Especially leaning into this idea with Plumia, as the Tanuki creatures are Earth's defenders. Honeydew has been chosen to defend against threats to Earth, and I guess that means making sure Cell stays in 'check' to some degree while she also faces demonic threats and other forces that threaten their home.

//It's building a far more interesting dynamic as the pieces come together! I don't think she'll ever impose herself on Cell too harshly (unless she isn't given that option anymore), but she'll negotiate far more reasonable ways to keep him entertained the way he wants to.

//Thinking it over? I'm beginning to realize Honeydew is more of a coward than I originally thought. For everything that happened to her before meeting Cell, she's always kept her head down. Losing a mother you were closest to is hard, but having a father who isn't available emotionally is harder. Friends drifted away as she clammed up, and she became guarded as a result. Honey resigned herself to studying hard to keep her father happy with her, at least. Some people saw this anti-social behavior as being 'uppity' or 'snobbish', so it didn't do her any favors. She resented the name-calling, but she was too afraid of confrontation. Why bother? A lot of it was likely true.

//Standing up for herself is probably one of the hardest things she's had to do, fighting back against fellow students who had been physically abusive most of that semester. The one time she got her licks in, she was properly expelled from that university. A huge breaking point for her, ngl, is that her father didn't want to hear why things spiraled as bad as it did. Insult to injury.

//For better or worse, meeting Cell forced her to confront her darkest fears. Those sensations of terror and anger go hand in hand, and it's probably why she survived through the worst of it. She hates herself for feeling so weak, being afraid of him, afraid of losing grip on her own life, and dying a miserable death. The anger rises, and it's easier to become venomous than to suffer another moment being that coward. She hides that side of herself pretty well, but if you dig past all the bravado and posturing, you'll see she's just as vulnerable as she was in those college years.

//I guess in slowly learning/knowing of Cell's situation and what he's brought into her life, she's admittedly attached to the idea of Cell being the one to mold her into someone strong and deserving of respect. She doesn't want to be alone anymore, and she values his company despite the constant threat to her life. The adrenaline rush is what keeps her alive, and I suppose somewhere down the line, has mixed these sensations with love somewhere. Trauma really can alter perceptions of people, even the ones you THOUGHT you despised. Turns out you really need to lean on the only person there for you.

//She's very, very, very, veeery lucky that Cell entertained any of her requests in the first place, and somehow managed to capture his undivided attention with all the fighting they've done. Got him thinking, wondering, and itching for Honey's company more than either of them realized would happen. Bonding through their shared experiences and unusual comforting moments is why they mesh well together.

//THANKS TO @viopolis for giving me the link to make this happen! Made a rough floor plan of Honeydew's farmhouse! Not perfect, pretend it's a lot bigger than this leads on, but it's how I've seen it in my brain for the last 3ish years? I'm just happy to get it down as a general idea now.

//Upstairs, Honey gets the master bedroom and a nice balcony is included to enjoy the evening air. Cell also has a nice, spacious guest room! Was his for a long time before it eventually became Cyto's place.

//And that's just her home, have yet to think about her outdoor garage and the basement leading to her makeshift lab. Will be nice to get that out the way soon enough.

//An image for ants? Yeah probably. But Riiiight about here is where Honey's located, and most of the circled territory is hers. It's not a massive amount of land but it is sizeable nonetheless. She has to travel one hell of a distance just to get to West city! The neighboring island is uninhabited by humans, and that's where a lot of Cell's testing against her took place. Makes for an ideal spot to train and explore.

Honey has found a... ‘Unique’ way to channel her unbottled rage into something a little more productive. The long days spent under the scrutiny of rival farmers and bitter residents would lead into a spur of the moment venture away from Kodaiho Lands. She would find herself in the outskirts of Nicky Town, motorbike parked in front of the local karaoke bar. The staff are rather welcoming, dirt cheap prices for a private booth to sing into. An admittedly awkward place to be without company, but the unlimited drinks eased her into embracing the moment. Naturally, Honeydew would gravitate towards edgy bands she could scream to, unloading deep stress beyond the usual daily interactions. It wears her throat out, but she’s so visibly relaxed when it’s over.

Driving home, the playlist is radically different. 90′s and 80′s are a must, throw in a Cranberries tunes here or there, or chilled out instrumentals. Anything she could zone out to during a long drive is better than aggressive speeding. It balances out the dark feelings in her heart, and it works like a charm. In fact, these songs come up far more often than any of the ‘anger’ songs ever could. After all, she’d rather be anything BUT upset.
