Since the mun likes Borderlands, here's your obligatory rant about what manufacturer Samuel would prefer of the bunch.
It's Hyperion.
Their aesthetics not only line up with his own (sans the obnoxious yellow color palette), but he'd also like how their weapons feel in his hands. Reverse recoil isn't an issue when your senses and movements are all mechanical and exact, and weapon shields are something Samuel himself has developed. (Just look at the chaingun)
Plus, Hyperion's additional focus into robotics, space exploration, and cybernetic enhancements also align with Samuel's interests. Hyperion and the UAC even have an interest in a unique element - Eridium and Argent, respectively.
Of course, I think Samuel would vastly prefer the Hyperion run by Athena over Handsome Jack, solely because Samuel would not be a fan of that blatant, over the top "all bandits must die!" branding Jack gave the company. If you're going to be killing a fuckton of people, at least attempt to cover it up.

smells: a scent of smoldering cinnamon, cloves, and star anise in the air. jasmine blossoms, lotus flowers, and orchids from the royal gardens. the crisp scent of autumn leaves and the smoky aroma of fire pits. herbal notes. a hint of sage, lemongrass, and mint leaves in herbal teas. sandalwood incense burning in meditation rooms. crackling hearth fires in the royal palace.
sights: volcanic landscapes. volcanoes looming on the horizon, with smoke rising from their peaks. intense flames swirling, casting shadows against the red walls. royal palace. opulent halls decorated with gilded ornaments, tapestries depicting ancient fire nation legends, and imposing thrones. fire nation technology—advanced warships, steam-powered machinery, and towering factories billowing smoke. traditional fire nation dances—graceful movements accompanied by the flickering light of torches and lanterns. colorful celebrations featuring elaborate firework displays, traditional music, and performances. endless amount of war memorials. monuments honoring fallen soldiers of the fire nation, with eternal flames burning in their honor. regal crimson robes with intricate gold embroidery, adorned with the fire nation insignia. messages of propaganda, supremacy, and strength through firebending. a recruitment poster featuring a soldier, with the caption, join the fire nation army and defend our sacred land.
sounds: the rhythmic sound of flames dancing in fire pits and torches. trumpets heralding the arrival of fire nation royalty, accompanied by drums and cymbals. war drums—thunderous beats echoing across training grounds, inspiring troops before battle. lightning crackling in the foreground. melodic tunes played on traditional fire nation instruments, the pipa and guzheng. the chirping of fire nation birds, the rustling of palm trees, and the distant roar of waterfalls. war machinery—clanking gears, hissing steam, and the rumble of warships off the shorelines. moments of quiet contemplation, where the only sounds are the soft rustle of leaves and the gentle crackle of embers. practicing the dizi, traditional flute in between training sessions.
sensations: the comforting heat of firebending flames against the skin during training sessions. luxurious fire nation silks and satins, smooth against the touch. intense warmth radiating from the earth's core during visits to volcanic hot springs. humid, sea breezes brushing against the skin from the coastlines. tactile connection—a sensation of firebending energy pulsing beneath lu ten's fingertips, responding to his every movement and command. resilient spirit and unwavering determination. a deep sense of connection to the spirits of fire. commitment to serving the fire nation. isolationism, a loneliness you cannot shake. failure is not an option. reluctant heroism, internal struggles between morality and obligations. inside of me, there are two dogs. one is mean and evil and the other is good and they fight each other all the time. when asked which one wins, i answer, the one I feed the most. ambiguous loyalties.

MWW Artwork of the Day (5/29/24) Constantin Brâncusi (Romanian, 1876-1957) Muse (La Muse)(1912) White marble sculpture, 45 x 23 x 17 cm. The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York
Brancusi's marble "Muse" (La muse, 1912) is a subtle monument to the aesthetic act and to the myth that woman is its inspiration. The finely chiseled and smoothly honed head is poised atop a sinuous neck, the curve of which is counterbalanced by a fragmentary arm pressed against the ear. The facial features, although barely articulated, embody the proportions of classical beauty. As in the sculptor's Mlle Pogany, also of 1912, the subject's hair is coiffed in a bun at the base of the neck. But while Mlle Pogany is the image of a particular woman, The Muse is the embodiment of an ideal.

I come bearing a new Rose/Kira ficlet.
Rated M for morbidity. Memento Mori.
350 words.
Rose shows his...peculiar appreciation of Izuru, after whatever Mayuri did to him.
Beware of fancy words, purple prose, religious imagery with sensual overtones, a weird view of death and mortality. Rose being a goth, basically.
Here on ao3.
Or here below...
In the 1600s, in Europe, people kept skulls around to be reminded of their own mortality; Rose has Izuru.
Izuru is now a perfect embodiment of that reminder, with his soft skin, pale as sickly moonlight shrouded by the november mist, and his whole body frozen in time as the brutal monument of a painful, grotesque demise.
A martyr, with all his wounds on display, forcing everyone else to acknowledge the inevitability of death.
A Saint Sebastian, whose arrows are not sticking out of his flesh, but instead serve as props for his broken body.
Some people wonder how Rose can still say that Izuru is his beautiful, perfect muse. But they clearly don't know Rose, his aesthetics and his philosophy. They don't know that there is sublime beauty even in suffering, decay and death.
But it's not only that, the gothic desire for something dark and morbid, twisted and uncanny. Izuru is so powerful now, so strong, in spite of his frail appearence. His reiatsu feels like the pounding bassline in a post-punk song, low and ominous like a sense of impending doom, like echoing footsteps in a dungeon.
An angel of death on the Apocalypse.
Izuru is not...stronger than Rose. Probably. But it's very close. And it turns him on incredibly.
Doing that is dangerous, it's walking on the edge of a blade. And Rose knows all too well the intoxicating appeal of reckless choices.
'I trust you.'
'But I don't... trust myself. What if I go too far? What if I can't stop?'
Rose smiles. Izuru is still there. No matter how many times he says that the old Izuru Kira is dead, Rose knows it's not entirely true. And deep down Izuru knows too. He just needs someone to remind him of that.
The prosthetic arm, unwavering and firm as steel, is as pitch-black as Izuru's overblown pupils.
His right hand is cold and unyelding wrapped around Rose's neck.
It feels perfect. Merciless. Deadly.
It's like staring death in the eye. It's the enticing and scary call of the void. L'appel du vide. Exquisite bliss.

Art that struck me from the Musee d’Orsay, this time around:
- a rather judgey-looking family portrait (lol) Unfortunately did not catch the artist or year, but I like the composition and the palette, and probably also the framing with the tree and the monumental scale. There was another one nearby that was a Dutch-style group portrait of people in black jackets but from the 1800s rather than the 1600s that I also thought was cool.
- no points for getting the artist of the next one right (hint: Bart loves him very much). When I was looking at this there was an art expert giving a tour to a family with three elementary-age children and she explained to them: see how you’re looking at things from different angles? The table from above; the bookshelf from straight on, etc. I have to admit that in retrospect I can only see like 2 of the different angles rather than the 5 or so she mentioned, but this was actually the cleanest I’ve been able to distinguish them in a Cezanne painting so props to her.
- a Caillebotte view from the rooftops. The audioguide pointed out that Caillebotte specialized in urban scenes, which may be why I like so many of his paintings. (Of course I also like Monet paintings of the countryside... maybe they are just good painters lol.) I didn’t take a photo of the floor scrapers painting because everyone was trying to do that to prove they were there, but I also liked it and appreciated the audioguide’s insight that there is a juxtaposition between the lower-class laborers and the upper-class environment of a fancy room.
- Serusier, 1893. I liked the “compressed palette” of this one, and the look of the rain. And it’s so surprising to realize the street is pink! For the first time I learned more about what happened between Caillebotte/Monet/Renoir/Cezanne and van Gogh. I feel like in my head van Gogh was always in the category of “impressionist”, but the museum called him a “neo-impressionist” along with several other slightly earlier painters like Gaugin and, I guess, Serusier, who began to be inspired by Japanese art (this part I actually knew from my art history class) and other things like stained glass. The stained glass comment actually really helped me “see” how they use planes of color, but also helped me think about how they are different from stained glass -- because they add a bit of texture and shadow to it, and sometimes are flatter (real stained glass, like I saw in the Marmottan, actually seems to try to be 3-D via the black painting rather than sticking to 2D).
- I tend not to like Gaugin because I dislike the tones of orange he uses and also the way he exoticizes his subjects, who are just people doing their thing, and admittedly he was also doing that in this painting (the audioguide explained that before he went to Polynesia, he went to Brittany to try to find the purest form of unspoiled nature - get over yourself, dude) but I like the composition and collage-y nature of it.
- The four vertical panels are by Pierre Bonard, same time period and idea. I didn’t aesthetically enjoy everything in this school, but I felt this painting was very striking and original and almost aesthetically pleasing (I especially like the orange and purple together on the right, and I think it has to be balanced by the lighter colors in the middle).
- the wood relief carvings are Georges Lacombe. I don’t think I have ever seen a piece of art before actually depict the moment of birth, so major props to him. I doubly like it because the composition and style are good.
- Two paintings of women sitting against walls, both of which I liked, probably because of the composition. Left is Khnopff in 1887, right is Whistler 1871.
- last..... horses. Maybe influenced by my horse ride, I was particularly taken by the horse depictions I saw throughout the Orsay. Degas actually did some lovely racehorse sculptures, but they were impossible to capture on camera. This one is a bit better in person, I think, to properly take in the monumental scale. Of course it’s somewhat cheesy, and I don’t, you know, like war as a concept, but this is maybe my favorite (?) example of the classical-style things the impressionists were rebelling against... though also, this could be because they’re only glorifying war, instead of exoticising and orientalising other cultures as an excuse for voyeuristically painting nudes. but that’s another story.

Life is a collection of art
A vibrant museum of art, that's how I've been viewing my life through Rotterdam's rose-colored glasses.
Let me take you through my digital journey in Rotterdam, Netherlands, where every corner tells us a tale. I promise you it'd be re(mark)able.
Tumblr media
As I meandered through the collection of exquisitely beautiful artworks in Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen and marveled at its innovative design, I pictured myself as an independent artist at full liberty of sketching and sculpting every elements of my life however I see fit. Letting it come alive in their own lights.
#MarkeuNote:
- In reflecting Rotterdam's skyline in the soaring curved exterior, the idea is that as people look at The Depot, they see themselves.
- The Depot is equipped with an ultra-sustainable energy system and its own heat and cold storage. #HighTech #VeryCool
Tumblr media
As I soar skywards in a glass elevator, an eclectic collection is visible from the six-storey atrium. Traversing, transparent staircases are meant to encourage visitors to explore beyond their comfort zones and discover new realms.
#MarkeuNote: Until 1984 Donald Judd limited his palette to the industrial colours of the materials he worked with. After he encountered the technique of enamelled aluminium in Switzerland, he made a series of coloured works like this (right pic). He sought combinations in the colours that were neither harmonious nor disharmonious. He looked for the multiple manifestations of the colour, without seeking to construct an aesthetic effect.
Tumblr media
Wandering through the whimsical Cube Houses had me feeling like I was caught inside a living sculpture.
The whimsical architecture inspired me to embrace life’s unique shapes and dimensions, reminding me that I don’t have to fit into a fixed mold just to impress the passing eyes who cannot see past the shallow beauty.
#MarkeuNote: The Cube Houses (Piet Blom, 1978-1984) are part of the Blaakse Bos (Blaakse Wood) development which borders on the Laurenskwartier district and the Waterfront area. The architect wanted to design a kind of village within the city and saw the houses as trees and the whole area as a wood. The Cube Houses are tipped to one side as it were, making three sides face the ground and three face the sky.
Tumblr media
I stood before the mirrored exterior of the Markthal and the Depot, and saw my own reflection amidst the beauty surrounding me. I took my own musings to heart: “Wander through life and adapt to every room you enter, but never forget who you truly are.”
My journey continued through the Horn of Plenty, a testament to the city’s artistic flair that left me in awe, and the Marten Toonder Monument, which connected me to the rich literary heritage woven into the urban landscape.
#MarkeuNote:
1. Horn of Plenty
When you wander amongst the market stands of Markthal, you have to look up to enjoy the massive artwork sprawled across the ceiling: the ‘Horn of Plenty’ by Arno Coenen and Iris Roskam. Boasted as a gigantic digital 'ceiling painting', the cornucopia is a colorful, but almost surreal still life, in which fruit, vegetables and flowers symbolize the enticements of paradise (and the Markthal itself).
Tumblr media
2. Marten Toonder Monument
Created as a tribute to Dutch cartoonist Marten Toonder, the Toonder Monument is a whimsical commemoration of a legacy that continues to impact the culture of the Netherlands. Formally titled Homage Marten Toonder, the Toonder Monument honors the Rotterdam-born comic-book author who had a great influence on the Dutch language by introducing new words and expressions. Numerous characters in Toonder’s comics have their own peculiar dialect of Dutch, impacting the culture of the region and country in a profound manner. He has been recognized as the most well-known Dutch cartoonist.

Rotterdam, that was a blast. I'll wait for you to ring me back home. 📞

SERIN
Tumblr media
>--------------------------------------<
CHARACTER SUMMARY
>--------------------------------------<
Serin is a lone merperson simply trying to find joys in life, he doesn't have memories of his family but believes he was abandoned by them. He spends his time exploring, collecting things he considers 'rare' - which is pretty much anything he doesn't yet have. Honestly a bit of a hoarder, he has modified an old ocean monument to use as his home, his farm and a space for his collections. He's most likely to be found in beaches and waterways or around them, exploring and perhaps even trying to steal things from people if they aren't paying attention.

HISTORY
>--------------------------------------<
Lost as a young child during an almost biblical storm that ended up destroying the place he lived, he was one of few survivors but was not found in the wreckage before the shoal moved on. Instead he pulled himself out and managed to get by, eating a lot of raw fish as that was the only thing that came easily. He grew up having suppressed the event, believing himself to have been simply abandoned by his family and thus giving him no impetus to go looking for them. After coming across a relatively intact ocean monument, he spent time restoring and modifying it to become his home and then began collecting everything and anything he could to fill it. Plants, animals, gemstones, he slowly started to store away rare items and grew very attached to all that he has. This is where he still lives, stealing where necessary to get a new shiny thing, filling the former monument with anything he can get his hands on.

Chiaki's Pinterest
DESCRIBE YOUR CHARACTER’S AESTHETIC IN FIVE WORDS OR LESS Video games. Consoles. PCs. Mary Janes. Sleeping masks. Chiakis aesthetic is that of a very sleepy gamer girl. WHAT FLOWER WOULD YOU CONNECT TO YOUR CHARACTER? WHY? Cherry Blossoms, for sure. Cherry blossoms are beautiful and also pink, a favorite color of Chiaki's. Cherry blossoms also symbolize both life and death, as well as beauty and violence. Both are very reminiscent of how Chiaki was full of life and yet was murdered; she was beautiful and yet killed in such a violent way. PICK A CRYSTAL THAT YOU FEEL FITS YOUR MUSE BEST AND EXPLAIN THE CONNECTION Cherry Blossom Agate, also known as Flower Agate. It brings with it mindfulness, sensuality, and splendor. "An extremely soothing stone, perfect for those painful or exhausting periods in life. This stone assists you in visualizing and achieving a brighter future without fears." Chiaki is always exhausted, but especially so right now because of her complicated memories. She also is the one to always remind others of hope and a brighter future. OUT OF WATER, FIRE, EARTH, AND AIR, WHICH ELEMENT DO YOU THINK REPRESENTS YOUR CHARACTER BEST? As a Pisces, Chiaki is a Water element. As a Water element, she is soft and flexible, as well as feminine. Water elements represent transitions of birth and death, fitting for someone who's death was so monumental in the series. Water elements are also cool, calm, and collected. Water elements are also ruled by fear, always looking for an escape, and as someone who runs from their problems, this is very fitting for Chiaki. WHAT COLOR DO YOU MOST STRONGLY ASSOCIATE WITH YOUR MUSE? Mauve. Mauve gives off sentimentality, youth, and nostalgia. Chiaki loves nostalgic video games, for example, and is extremely sentimental when it comes to her loved ones/friends. Mauve is also the color of her hair. IS THERE AN ANIMAL YOU FEEL FITS YOUR MUSE’S PERSONALITY BEST? Chiaki would be a koala. They are the sleepiest animals in the world. They're also very calm and very adorable. ARE THERE ANY CHOICES YOUR CHARACTER MAKES SOLELY BECAUSE IT FITS THEIR AESTHETIC? Not necessarily, she just likes what she likes. PICK ONE QUOTE THAT YOU THINK OF WHEN YOU THINK OF YOUR CHARACTER AND SHARE IT WITH US Chiaki has many memorable quotes, but one of the most important ones is "If you want to believe in someone…you need to overcome doubt first. Belief without doubt…is simply a lie." While she has many quotes about not giving up and choosing hope, this one sticks with me because it shows that Chiaki is all about believing in her friends, even through doubt. LIST OFF THE TOP THREE KINDS OF IMAGERY THAT COME TO MIND WHEN YOU THINK OF YOUR MUSE Consoles, PCs, and sleeping masks. DESCRIBE YOUR MUSE USING ONLY AO3 TAGS

spring cleaning - allana solo
where does your muse live? a house? apartment? how big is the space?
allana lives in a decently large two bedroom a few blocks away from the white house. the second bedroom is her girlfriend's art studio, but even without that room, they have plenty of space to do their own separate things and have all their necessities stored
does your muse live with anyone else? who are those people?
they live with her girlfriend sella, in what was supposed to be a temporary arrangement. that was over a year ago and they're still there with neither one of them seemingly planning on changing the current situation. though fun fact, the apartment is not just in sella's name, it's rented under sella's older brother, so neither one of them pays any rent, it's all covered by sheev. they just pay their utilities and nothing more
how much time does your muse spend in their place? do they go out often or spend a lot of time in?
more when sella is home, she's not a huge fan of being alone in the apartment. but if sella is home, they're happy to spend hours doing their own separate tasks or something together. but most of her time while sella is at work or class is spent at her own job, considering they work for her grandfather and her hours are incredibly flexible
what is the view outside of your muse’s window?
lafayette square, and the washington monument. her girlfriend is a very aesthetic based girlie, so the view is absolutely a picture perfect shot of the city no matter what window you're looking out of. and considering how both of them are, i'm assuming we have a ton of windows here. sella is a big natural light girl, and allana loves the moon and stars
what do they sleep on? do they have a lot of pillows? what about blankets or stuffed animals?
their bed is absolutely covered in pillows and blankets and squishmallows. sella is a menace when it comes to decoration. but they don't usually sleep on those, they kick most of the pillows to the floor, allana will cocoon themself in like two or three blankets and then let sella flop on top of her and they're good to go
what items do they keep next to their bed?
she usually keeps a book on her nightstand, along with her camera and the one plant she’s been able to keep alive. her phone is also usually plugged in there
what is your muse’s most valuable possession?
probably her stuffed tauntaun, considering it’s the only thing she had of her father for most of their life
does your muse like to keep a lot of trinkets around or are they more minimalistic?
they're a very sentimental person, so they do have a lot of trinkets and keepsakes scattered around, and sella is the same. both of their desks are covered in trinkets, and there's plants and vases and little statues up everywhere
does your muse have any pictures up? what are they of?
so many oh my god. they're both into art, so there's art prints, photos of family and friends, paintings sella's done, artsy photo's allana's taken, probably parts of the wall just painted directly with little things that struck their fancy, notes and prints for projects allana's working on, their walls are probably the most cluttered part of the apartment
what, if any, other decorations does your muse have?
they exist on only fairy lights, because sella thinks they're romantic and allana likes the dimmer lighting for their aesthetic. they've got some soft fuzzy rugs, and the most polar opposite assortment of throw pillows you've ever seen. think a pink frilly one with flowers and sequins and a plain black one with a skeleton hand heart next to each other. also probably a ton of flowers
does your muse like having guests over?
she's not against it, but they're not a huge fan of hosting and having to be on planning everything. but now sella will do all the work and allana just has to show up and do what sella tells them to do? it's a lot more enjoyable for them
how tidy is your muse’s home/room?
they're pretty neat overall, and the apartment reflects that, but allana's desk in particular is a wreck, there's always various parts from whatever she's working on fixing or upgrading. she doesn't really ever throw out spare parts, because what if they can use them for something in the future? it might come in handy
does your muse have any pets living with them? what about plants?
they have a ton of fake plants, keeping a real one alive is not allana's or sella's strong suit. maybe a real succulent here and there, something hard to kill. they also have a cat named turnip, and allana's nexu from back home, anji
is your muse happy with their living situation? what would your muse’s dream house look like?
she’s honestly incredibly happy with it, but she’s not picky, growing up on rebel bases. as long as she’s got a bed and the people they care about? they're very happy in any situation. but they do spend a bit more time putting little personal touches on the apartment, because they've never had a permanent place before dc. and while they'll complain until the end of time about the amount of pink and pastel and floral in the apartment, she honestly kind of loves it, mostly because of the aforementioned simp behavior
