SOPHIE was a sucker for anything fun, but the halloween season called for dressing up. which meant shopping. she wasn’t the most up to date on her pop culture icons, but she still wanted to have a fun costume. “ how many different spins could i put on a fairy princess, ” she turned to the closest person, placing a small tiara on her head, “ before it’s considered too far? is fake blood and a pop star mic too much? ”

to say ABBA’s discography is the soundtrack to sophie’s life is a bit of an understatement. born and raised on a beautiful greek island, you would think sophie couldn’t want anything more. well, there was one thing she was missing: a father. she idolizes her mother and the life she made for the both of them, but sophie always wanted to know who her father was. so naturally... she steals her mother’s diary and invites the three men who her mother slept with the summer she was conceived to her wedding! easy solution! shenanigans ensue, sophie accepts all three men as her fathers, and ditches her own wedding to travel with her fiancee!

flash forward about five years: sophie’s mother passes away, and she decides to spend her days obsessing over the hotel her mother left behind. totally remakes it into a luxurious resort and goes beyond her mother’s grandest visions. she tries to throw a grand reopening, a storm kind of ruins it, but it all ends with a fabulous party feat. the dads, the whole island, and even sophie’s former absentee grandmother! oh, also sophie finds out she’s pregnant; she has a son and names him in honor of his grandmother.

what are some fun facts?

sophie is extremely impulsive. she gets an idea, and she follows through with. fortunately, she doesn’t usually get other people involved in her schemes. she works well as a one-woman show.

sophie is a bright, intelligent woman, but she really doesn’t listen to other people. she’s terrible at taking advice or listening to common sense. if you tell her that her plan is insane, she’s only going to get more involved in her own nonsense. she really has caused a lot of issues for the literal actors in her life as she’s very difficult to control / convince of anything.

sophie’s obsessed with her mother’s diary. her real mother’s diary; donna sheridan’s entries about the summer precious little sophie was conceived. none of it makes sense to her. people have told her it’s just a weird coincidence that she found a diary from a woman with her same last name who named their daughter sophie. but that’s too weird. something’s going on. ( sophie leading theory is that she is the secret love child of her ‘father’s’ sister and that her ‘parents’ took her in to save face. )

sophie thinks the donna character in the diary seems really cool and kind of wishes she was her mother. which, in reality, she is. it’s just more complicated than she could ever imagine.

SIGNIFICANT OTHER / ROOMMATE(S) - open to male or female actors. someone is supposed to keep sophie in line, but no one is really all that good at it despite living with the girl. also they really aren’t a fan of her singing abba all the time.
