❛ flyer one
@jsominrk
when jordan had started out the week, he never thought he would be finishing it standing there in the middle of the pavement trying to hand out trc flyers. or that he would be able to call himself a trainee. he’d only really gone to the audition because he could, not because he had any dreams of being an idol or anything, but for fun. so when they had phoned him back and actually offered him a contract he had been more than a little surprised about it. what was more surprising, however, was that he had agreed to the terms and signed his life away. funny how things worked out for him when he just went with the flow, huh?
his brows furrowed at the flyers as he wandered around with them. there were quite a few of them and if he wanted to make it back in time for some food then he was going to have to get a bit of a shift on. maybe he should have brought his ukulele or something, convince people to take a flyer off his hands by playing them some music. but, without his trusted instrument, he was just going to have to manage.
“hey,” he approached the first person he noticed with a smile, “take one of these flyers off my hands? it’s got information about some upcoming trc events.”

BANG JUNHYUK STARBRIGHT 2020 ROYAL CALLBACK
KARD - Bomb Bomb (1:05 - 2:00) Rapping to B.M and J.Seph parts Dancing to B.M’s parts
of course he was disappointed at first when trc didn’t offer him a callback. but that small feeling of disappointment didn’t really last for very long when he found out that royal was offering him one. which was funny, as well as surprising, as it was neither his first or second choice when it came to companies. though he did have a royal entertainment flyer stuffed away in his bedroom somewhere. though he was pretty sure it was probably old and out of date by now so that didn’t really matter very much. all that really mattered to him was that at least one company wanted him enough to give him a chance to audition properly in the first place.
and of course he was a little nervous about having to showcase two skills instead of one. it was just the rapping he had to worry about he would no doubt be feeling a lot calmer about the whole situation. but really the excitement was overwhelming the nerves. this could really be it. after a small one minute performance he could really be offered a contract and start on the long road towards debut. and maybe it was foolish to already be thinking so far ahead of himself, but the teenager really couldn’t help it very much. he’d been working for years already just to get this chance, and now it was right there in front of him. all it took was one solid performance to prove that he could do it. and he was nothing but confident that he could pull this off.
from the beginning he thought it might be an amusing idea to try and combine his skills on a skateboard into things. but after thinking about it for a little longer he realized that was an incredibly dumb idea and it was probably better if he didn’t do something like that. he wanted to try and take this seriously. it was his dream and his future on the line and he didn’t want to go and mess it up because he had had decided to not take it 100% seriously. that’s when he started to looking towards rapping and both dancing. while dancing was not something he was completely confident in, he had dabbled about enough with it to feel as though he could copy a choreography with a little bit of practice.
actually finding a song he was comfortable with took more time than he was expecting. it was hard to find a song that had enough rapping for him to showcase while also having a good dance routine to it as well. june could easily imagine that vocalists had a lot easier time with this, but he wasn’t about to give up. while it took a little time scouring the internet and scrolling through his spotify playlists for inspiration he eventually came across something which would be interesting to do. while the just under a minute clip he had managed to secure had a little bit of vocal parts as well, junhyuk wasn’t planning on singing those bits.
then start the practice, starting with learning the rap, just constantly rapping the words over and over again in his bedroom mirror, watching his reflection, trying to get the right facial expressions. then it was the dance, watching the mirrored choreography video over and over again, learning step by step, dancing in time with the video until he was sure the whole one minute dance was drilled right into his head. finally it was a mixture of both the rapping and the dancing. admittedly, it was a little harder than he thought it was going to be trying to put the two of them together, but after a couple of hours of endless practice he was actually managing it. and it wasn’t very long at all until he was feeling confident in himself, ready to go and put on a really great performance that he could be proud of.
the day of the callback the nerves were starting to come back. the slightly twitching fingers, unable to sit still as he rode the bus to the company. and the whole time he had his headphones plugged into his ears, softly rapping the song under his breath, unable to stop himself from moving slightly to the choreography as well. and sure, he was getting some pretty strange looks from the people around him, but junhyuk didn’t care. this was his last chance to get in even a little bit of practice so he was hardly going to let it pass.
just standing there staring up at royal entertainment, junhyuk the butterflies in his stomach, even if he was trying to just swallow them down. he almost couldn’t imagine himself coming here every day and to be able to call himself a trainee. but the teenager knew that he wanted it, he was desperate for it. and that surely had to count for something? he was sure they would be able to see how hungry he was and how willing to do anything he was just to get his chance to even train. he was still young, junhyuk knew that, so there was loads of time to achieve his dream. but starting as young as possible was not going to hurt anybody.
he recognized one of the other royal callbacks as the girl he had met during the speakup event, but the boy he didn’t. though junhyuk was trying not to think about them as he stood there waiting for his turn. getting distracted was not a good idea and he didn’t want to start worrying about how good these other people might be. this was all about him, it was his moment and he just had to keep himself completely focused on the task ahead and pull through in one piece.
when he finally heard his name his heart did a small leap in his chest. this was finally it. so junhyuk found himself standing up just a little bit taller, trying to seem as confident in himself and possible as he held his head up and walked into the room, smiling as he stood in front of the small panel of people and the camera pointed right at him. don’t panic, he knew he could do this, he was talented and he was just about to prove it. don’t think about the fact he was performing in front of the ceo or he was being filmed. this was all just in a days work. it was fine.
“hello,” he greeted politely, smiling as he bowed just under ninety degrees before straightening up again, the smile still on his face, “my name is bang junhyuk and thank you very much for this opportunity.” and he couldn’t mean those words any more, he was thankful he was even getting the smallest of chances to show his stuff. he could have very well never have gotten a callback in the first place. and even if today didn’t work out for him, he still wanted to leave feeling happy that he had put in his best effort and couldn’t have done anything different.
but now there was no more talking, nothing else he could say. all he could do was do his short performance and hope that it at least impressed someone and showed he had some potential to be great one day.
as soon as the music started he was in character, expression changing to something far more charismatic like a switch had just been flipped in his head. all the nerves just gone as he went right into the first rap like he had practised over and over again.
i see u eyeing on me 원한다면 come get a taste 신호를 보내 눈빛에 써있네 you thirsty all thirsty for this
너의 움직임에 더 홀려가게 she whine it drippin like faucet 적셔가 열정의 땀에 이 곡이 마쳐도 no pares y dame woah
the choreography was sharp but junhyuk was trying to show a charismatic and powerful rapper side to him as well. he wanted to act as though he had been doing this for years, that rapping and dancing just came naturally to him. he was extra careful not to put a foot wrong, keeping the timing in the back of his mind as he moved and flowed with the beat of the song. and next came a short vocal bit, but he didn’t actually sing along, not really willing to prove how little singing ability he had. instead, he had just left the female vocals out of it. but even so he still found himself mouthing them a little under his breath, almost as if he was keeping himself in time as he moved towards the next part of the song.
you make me 맨정신 못 차리게 어지러워 어질러 내 맘을 왜
more vocals for a second, to june allowed himself to focus on his dancing, keeping it sharp and powerful, just like the original. this was a strong song, upbeat and something you wanted to get up and jump around to. and he did have to hope he was successfully managing to show that and the panel of judges weren’t just sitting there getting bored of watching him already. but if they weren’t impressed yet, he was sure now the chorus was coming up they might change their mind. it was almost impossible not to at least bop your head in time with the music.
at least, it was for him.
나와 함께 새하얗게 Make it burn make it burn 매일 밤밤
then came the strong beat of the chorus and junhyuk didn’t hesitate to go right into the strong dancing. and just the sound of his feet hitting the floor as he moved was quite satisfying to hear, unable to keep the grin off his face as he performed. this really was what he loved doing, being able to stand there and entertain and inspire other people. june simply couldn’t imagine what his life would be like without music, without the capability to rap and to dance and really do what he loved. no doubt that would be a sad and lonely life indeed and not one he wanted to live. which was why he was so desperate to do well in this, if only to prove that he could stand up to people much older than him and prove that age wasn’t everything.
늘 밤 내일 밤 매일 밤밤
wildin’ all day wildin’ all night wildin’ all day 난 매일 밤밤 wildin’ all day wildin’ all night wildin’ all day 난 매일 밤밤
as he got through the last little bit of the lyrics and the chorus finally came to a close, junhyuk tried to finish as powerfully as possible. his foot hit the floor on the last beat and he straightened up, holding his hands in front of him as he held the last position for a moment, sweat starting to shine on his brow and chest heaving with the amount of energy he had just wasted in the fifty-five seconds he had been performing. and he felt the burn from his limbs, but the boy was still smiling all the day. he was proud of himself and what he had just done, proud that he had gotten through it solidly and was pretty sure he didn’t put a foot wrong the whole time.
eventually he did relax as he stood there, taking just a short moment to get his breathing under control so he could comfortably speak again before bowing forward. “thank you so much again for this opportunity, i loved it! i hope you enjoyed watching as well,” he grinned right at the camera after he was done speaking, almost having forgotten that it was sat there recording him the whole time. but he didn't mind having that performance in an archive somewhere for years to come. he was proud of it and what he had just accomplished.
but, for now, all he could really do was smile one last time, bow just a little more before turning and finally leaving the room for the next person. next simply came the waiting game to find out if it was going to be bad news or good news. and while junhyuk was desperately hoping for the latter of the two he knew that if worst came to worst and he left this building at the end of the day without achieving his dream, he could still be happy that he had tried and done his best. and, as his father would say, that was all that really mattered in the first place.

Beomgyu wasn’t sure what TRC was thinking by offering him a contract. Were they insane or just desperate? Beomgyu wouldn’t even offer himself a contract so he was still baffled as to the reasons why he was offered one. Despite this, here he was, standing in the crowded streets of Hongdae, a stack of flyers in his hand. The sun shone brightly and Beomgyu was wearing sunglasses to protect his eyes.
He was the kind of person who didn’t let it get to him when people ignored him and kept walking. He simply moved on to the next person. His friendly and energetic personality made it easy for him to approach others. Spying his next target, Beomgyu grinned brightly as he approached the stranger. ❝ Hello! You look like someone who would be interested in trc. You’ve got that kind of vibe, you feel? ❞ His attempt to elude a hip hop persona clearly failing, Beomgyu continued anyway. ❝ Would you be interested in this flyer, dude? You won’t regret it. ❞

The show must go on!
It’s been almost a year since Convex had to perform in the pouring rain, which proves that concerts and live shows’ venues will not always be indoors and graced by ideal and safe weather conditions, but idols should still be able to face intense heat, rain, wind or low temperatures wearing whatever the stylist picks for them and finish their stages successfully. If this is not enough for them to keep their health and stamina in check, schedules can be packed and it’s expected that they are in condition to show an energetic image despite all the odds. Injuries or idols getting sick after being drenched in rain in a festival or doing a fanmeeting outdoors is the last thing companies want.
Through the first week of November, trainees will receive basic health checkups to make sure they’re ready for future activities as well as a talk on how to keep themselves healthy and avoid injuries during training. On November 30th, the trainees will take over parks and busy streets near well known universities for 12 hours for special busking events despite the weather conditions. Separated by male and female, the coaches will pick three different senior songs that they will learn and practice the choreography through the month and then perform on the last day of November (songs and more details under the cut). When they’re not performing, trainees will hand out heat packs for those passing by. Flyers will be distributed by the staff inviting people to stop by and watch them, so it’s a good opportunity to showcase their talents in front of people and attract some interest from the public.
Busking locations:
SPHERE: Hongdae
NOVA: Itaewon
KT: Han River Park
TRC: Sinchon
ROYAL: Marronnier Park
Trainees who do not have the stamina achievement will, at some point during the day, suffer from exhaustion or catch a cold and will have to head to the hospital for one of those infamous IVs or an examination. Write a solo or four-post thread about this hospital visit to earn ONE EXTRA SKIP DAY toward your stamina achievement! Note that when you turn in your stamina form you will need to link to the verification form for this eval to prove you get two skip days.
In order to collect +2 POINTS TO DISTRIBUTE AS YOU WISH and +2 DEBUT POINTS, write 250+ words solo or a four-post thread with another trainee involving the preparations for this month’s evaluation. For +3 POINTS IN A RELEVANT SKILL, +2 DEBUT POINTS and +1WK RELEVANT ACHIEVEMENT, write one 300+ words solo about your muse’s busking experience. Please tag all your posts with #rknov19eval and have them up by midnight EST at the end of Saturday, November 30th. Threads may be continued after the deadline, but points can only be collected if the requirements are met before it.

‧ ₊ ˚ TRC FLYERS——— 1!
when it came to new interactions, to approaching strangers on the streets in the hopes that they’ll accept one of the many company flyers currently nestled safely in her arms, heejin figures it’s something she’ll have little trouble doing. she was confident, sudden interactions generally being a breeze, but the moment she see’s the others head of ashy purple hair, her legs move on their own. “kyul unnie!” she calls out through the crowd, reaching the older easily. “i don’t know if you watched the finals but...i got signed to trc,” her voice trails slightly, a small grin on her lips. “i have to hand these flyers out and saw you walking— will you take one for me?”

14 + andreil? (“Hey, I’m with you, okay? Always.”)
…………………………..
so i needed to write this plot bunny outta my damn mind
(and i liked this enough to post it on my ao3!!)
fic meme 1-100: andreil + 14. “Hey, I’m with you, okay? Always.”
send me a pairing (preferably from aftg/trc) and a number and i’ll write you a drabble (1-50) (51-100)
Andrew has often thought of how a clock, something built totell time, can fail at its very function the moment it’s set wrong. The thoughtwas unnerving, really, because it only strengthens the truth that time was oneof the many things that was out of anybody’s control.
One of the other things was change. The Columbia house, forall its glory and all the moments it’s lived through, cannot fight against thewishes of time. Though it did look like it tried to put up the best fight itcould possibly attempt. The windows, some slightly cracked and others difficultto open, merely provided glimpses into how much the structure has been through. The welcome mat had the letter O blacked out by ash, from theone time Nicky had set it on fire. The doorbell still worked, but the buttonwas long gone from its mechanism. The house paint was peeling off, and theplants around the side of the house were long gone.
It’s been almost three years since that day. Everyone Andrew knows has told him that this, what he wasdoing, wasn’t helping anyone move on with the natural course of things. Nothim. Not Neil.
Walking up to the house, Andrew wondered when he’ll everstop wanting to coming back.
He checked the time on his watch. 11:38 PM.
He doesn’t think twenty-two minutes will be enough to readyhimself for what was coming.
(Really, he doesn’t think any amount of time will ever beenough.)
The doorknob is cold and unsettling to the touch as ever.Andrew opened the door, and a wind blew in his face. He coughed because of thedust that got to his nose. A few seconds later, he heard the night cricketsoutside drift to a steady silence.
Nice job, Josten. Shaking his head, Andrew broughtout his flashlight, and shone a light throughout the dark house.
When they (Andrew, Aaron, and Nicky) had bought the Columbiahouse in their freshmen year, it was mostly empty, save for the appliances thatthe seller was generous enough to leave them. They acquired a microwave, ablender, and a pressure cooker (that none of them knew how to use until theirthird year). It was a really spacious house, which meant the three of them wasfree to fill it with whatever they deemed was necessary for each of theirsurvivals. Money was no object.
So Nicky was in charge of furnishing, while Aaron made tocall in men for the repairs, and Andrew shouldered costs and looked over wherethings were supposed to go. After three months of arguments and fussing about,it was done, and they had a place to stay whenever they needed to get away fromPalmetto State. They began bringing Kevin along a few weeks later. It was ateam effort to put the house together, that much Andrew knew.
Nicky and Aaron were not the least bit surprised, then, whenAndrew and Neil had ended up taking over the house later on. Nicky had a placewith Erik in Germany, and Aaron was in med school with Katelyn in anotherstate. This was around the time Neil had graduated and was well on his way to anoffer with the US Court, and Andrew was being bombarded with the same offerfrom the US Court that he had rejected the previous year. Andrew remembered walking into the living room and seeing Neil with both contract proposals fromthe Court’s recruitment team.
Leaning against the wall, he hadwaited until Neil noticed he was there at all.
You’re not seriously judging me for going through job offers.Neil’s tone had been playful, a smirk on his face that was probably amused atAndrew’s glowering.
It’s more of an addiction for you, junkie.
It’s what’s keeping me alive. Sorry if this life is so addicting.
You know, if you needed someone to go with you and hold your hand, that’s not going to be me.
Yeah? At this, Neil had put the papers on their coffee table, stoodup, and walked over to where Andrew was standing. In the years that they hadknown each other, Andrew had not grown taller, but Neil had two inches added tohis height. The smile on his lips not withdrawing, he crossed his arms andlooked Andrew square in the face.
Then how are you going to stare at my ass from behind if you’re not inthe games with me?
Andrew remembered looking up atNeil’s face, unimpressed. Tell me onegood reason why I should go back to that game again.
You know the gig’s not half as bad as you make it out to be. ThenAndrew had glared, turned around, and walked away.
A few hours ago, both of them hadsigned with the US Court, and were set to start practices next week. Once theyhad both gotten the notification, Neil had looked and did his best not to burst outlaughing.
I am irresistible, he had declared, winking at Andrew.
One week, huh, Andrew had muttered, hoisting a laughing Neil up onhis arms and carrying him back to their bedroom. We shouldn’t waste any time then.
Andrew shone his flashlight aroundthe living room, the furniture in it now dusty and chipped. Their sofa still had that gash across the middle, and their pillows had almost all the stuffing falling out and frayed. Thetelevision set, once a flatscreen and of the highest quality, now couldn’t beswitched on or even plugged in. A circle of dustless surface was on the coffeetable, where the last ever coffee cup used to be. Andrew didn’t know if Neilhad taken the coffee cup off, or if someone had gone in to take it. Honestly,it didn’t really matter anymore.
To the side, their bookshelf wasstill crammed with books, half of which they never got to read together. Nearit was another shelf, which held framed photos and some souvenirs from thecountries they got to travel to. A mini Eiffel Tower, a golden cat that used towave its paw, a box of one red chopstick because they lost the other one. Atiny Mexican hat, from the first time they flew anywhere. Andrew surveyed thephotographs, looked at the all the faces. A family portrait, with him, Neil, and Sir Fat Cat and King Fluffkins. They had taken it intending for it to be aChristmas card, but Neil liked it so much he wanted it to be the family’s copyand theirs only. A picture of him and Aaron, arms around each other’sshoulders, taken by Neil himself. And beside it, a picture that Andrew hadtaken of Neil holding one of Dan and Matt’s kids, from when they babysat forthe couple.
Of the two of them, Neil had beenmore vocal about wanting kids, simply because Andrew was rarely ever outspokenabout anything. Andrew had it memorized – that look of want that Neil used tohave, whenever one of Dan’s kids would bring him something they had drawn orwhenever they wanted something from their kitchen. Neil had both been subtle(adoption flyers lying around the counter) and obvious (bringing it up whenthey were in bed, before they went to sleep). But what he didn’t know was thatit was a fleeting want between the both of them, something that never happenedonly because they were too busy with everything else.
Looking at his watch, Andrew sawthat he had seven minutes before midnight.
“You don’t mind if I’m a littleearly, do you?”
The voice had come a little tooclose behind him, but Andrew had learned to calm himself down. Neil never meantto scare him, even if his hair stood on end almost every time this happened.Closing his eyes, he took a deep breath. Inhale.Exhale. That’s it.
He turned around, and behind himwas Neil.
In his spiritual, yet mostcorporeal, form.
A ghost.
“You were always one forsurprises,” Andrew whispered, tightening his grip around his flashlight. Neillooked back at him, shrugging in the most Neil-like fashion.
Ever since Neil had become thisstate, he was always different. Sometimes, he was his cheery, annoying self, following Andrew around the house and talking his ear off. There have beentimes when he was an angrier, snappier version of himself, levitating objectsaround the house and throwing them against the walls. Most of the time though,Neil was merely a shell of himself, less responsive, drifting out of realityfrom time to time.
He liked it when Andrew came tovisit, which was twice or thrice a week. Always around midnight, and not formore than half an hour. Neil had explained, once before, that there wasn’t muchspiritual energy around their part of South Carolina for him to stay long.Andrew didn’t know much about the supernatural and ghosts and spirits, so hetook Neil’s word for it.
At the start, Neil being a ghosthad helped Andrew cope with his death, had helped him mourn the loss. The shockhad lasted quite a while, and then the anger came. Andrew was not proud of howhe handled himself.
It was a day like any other, specifically a day when Neil was home and Andrew was out, taking care of thegroceries. Between the both of them, no one knew that Lola Malcolm hadn’t beencaught by the FBI, and was instead on the lookout for Neil to seek her revenge.Andrew had come home to the struggle between Lola and Neil, and hell had brokenloose from there.
Andrew had succeeded in getting aknife through Lola’s head through her eye, but not until after she had shotNeil in the stomach. There was blood everywhere. And the hospital could only doso much that much blood loss. Andrew threatened as many doctors and nurses ashe could, but he couldn’t change what had happened. Neil was in a coma for agood eight months, before the doctors had the talk with Andrew regardingpulling the plug.
A voice had come up behind him, inthat hospital hallway, and whispered, “Letme go, Andrew. The machines are terrible. It hurts so, so much.”
It took Andrew another monthbefore he could agree to pull the plug. Wymack, Betsy, Abby, and the Foxes, both the old and the new, were there with Andrew, and that was that. No fancyfuneral. No televised news about Neil’s death. No articles in the newspapers,no interviews with the sports channels.
Just a cremation, a jar, andNeil’s ashes, sitting in one of the Columbia house’s cupboards.
It’s been almost three years sincethe accident. And a small part of Andrew was uneasy, if not scared, about Neilstill not being able to transition to the afterlife.
Three years.
Neil put his hand to Andrew’s arm,and Andrew shivered. He could feel the faintest sensation through his shirtsleeve. He saw Neil solidify a bit more and sigh in relief.
“I get the feeling that you havesomething to tell me that couldn’t wait.”
“We’ve got all the time in theworld, what the fuck are you talking about?”
“Seventeen years of marriage doesn’thelp you become a better liar, dummy.”
Andrew gritted his teeth. Hefrowned at Neil. “Yeah, well, the real world doesn’t make me deal with thetruth any better, either.”
“And what has been happening in the real world?” Neil’s voice was lessinterested and more of a drone. As if it was draining him to push every singleword out. He went to sat down on their sofa, and continued, “Tell me a story.”
So Andrew told him. About Reneeand Emilio’s third son, who was born premature and had to stay in the incubatorfor a few weeks. About Allison and her fiancé, and their upcoming wedding inthe Bahamas. About Nicky and Erik visiting for Christmas this December. AboutAaron and Katelyn opening up a new private practice in the east. About Robin andher girlfriend, and how she had been coaching the Foxes for almost seven yearsnow. About Wymack in a plush and comfortable retirement home that just happensto adore Exy and him, so they had no problem with Kevin’s specifications. AboutDan and Matt starting an Exy Little League, and how it was going to be biggerthan they had anticipated. About how he and Kevin were still with the Court.
“But you know how I keep thinkingof,” Andrew broke off, inhaling a little shakily. He sat beside Neil. “Ofresigning. They have enough goalkeepers there anyway.”
Neil did a lifeless haha and replied, “Good luck. Last timeI joked about you leaving, Chief always said that wouldn’t happen. “Not on my watch, Josten.” With the gruffdisagreement and all. That kinda shit.”
“It doesn’t do anything for meanymore.”
Which was true. Financially, Andrew was set for (what he believedwere) the remaining years of his life, and he still had some of his fortune fromhis teenage years to add to his Court savings. He didn’t really care much forthe Exy celebrity life, and he only had a few friends in the sports industryand even less of a desire to make more. On top of that, the only reason why hewas still with the Court was because of Kevin, who was still a little abovetwenty-five years or so from retirement. Kevin was convinced that he and Andrewwould be together on the team until then.
Every single day with the team andplaying Exy served to be a reminder to Andrew about just how much Neil livedfor the sport. They had played games with one off the court, but when they wereboth on the court together, they were a force to be reckoned with. Eventually, everyone had ended up looking forward to the games that had the both of them onthe lineup.
Now that Neil was gone… well.Andrew could still close off the goal when the team needed it, but even theleast invested fan could see that games against the US National Team were lessexciting now. It was something no one dared to speak of.
“Well, you know I wouldn’t mind ifyou did,” Neil said, leaning back and closing his eyes. Or at least that’s whatit looked like to Andrew. “Resign, I mean.”
They sat in silence for a longtime after that, Andrew and his arm on the couch’s arm rest, and Neil sittingback on the couch. It was never an uncomfortable silence, that much they bothhad to be thankful for. From time to time, Andrew looked over and watched Neildo his best to materialize, take as much energy as he could from the ground, sometimes from Andrew. But then Andrew knew Neil always felt bad about tiringhim out, so the touches were subtle. Andrew didn’t want to admit that it wasmore draining that he let out.
Besides, if it meant that he couldsee Neil a little better, then Andrew would hold onto Neil himself – if Neilwouldn’t violently lash out and throw Andrew off of him.
“Ugh, we never really got thishouse to look the way it should,” Neil suddenly said, his eyes darting aroundthe room. Andrew snapped out of his thoughts.
“Your eye for real estate ischarming, junkie.”
“Shut up. This place was a dumpbefore I got here.”
Andrew felt his mouth twitch up abit at that, and he saw Neil laughing quietly. For a bit, he looked almost… alive.
“Yeah,” he murmured, shiftingcloser. “You were a real lifesaver.”
Neil looked Andrew in the eyes, and smiled.
Then, as if a spell broke, he suddenlyclosed his eyes and groaned slightly. “Ugh.”
“What?” Andrew was alert, a bit ofpanic rising in him. “Anything I could do?”
“No, I just,” Neil stopped, facingaway from Andrew. After a beat, he spoke up again.
“This always happens. I hate it.”
“What does?”
“Oh, don’t act like you don’tknow,” Neil scolded, a little sadly. “Me wanting to hold your hand, or mewanting to kiss you, and then remembering that— that I’m just… this.”
And here I was, about to tell him that he has to move on. “Neil, pleasedon’t do this.”
“Don’t do what?” Neil snapped, standing up suddenly, making his form waver abit. Andrew was starting to feel his own anger too. It was anger not at Neil, but at the situation that led to this. He did his best to keep it down and puttwo fingers to the bridge of his nose.
“Don’t… ugh— don’t make this harder than it has to be.”
Neil looked down at him, a littleconfused. Then, understanding showed on his face, along with a very pissy mood.
“Oh. Okay. I see how it is.”
In all the years that they’ve beenmarried, they’ve had their fights, and they’ve each had their share of faults. After everything though, they always, alwaysmade it a point to resolve their issues. This was because of the two of them,Neil was the one that hated going to sleep with something wrong between them.
Still, they were human, so nothingwas as perfect as how the movies almost always made everything out to be.Andrew tended to be unresponsive a lot of the time, because he didn’t believein wasting a single breath on useless things, and Neil always had some smartremark prepared to everything because he liked being the last say, socompromises were only arrived at after a lotof work.
So of course, this meant thingsalways had to get messy before they get fixed.
“Neil,” Andrew began, standing upand taking a few steps away from Neil. “You know it’s been far too long. It’sunnatural.”
“So is being murdered at the ageof 46, Andrew!” Neil yelled, theground shaking a little, just because he can make it shake. “This is so unfair.I’m not fucking ready.”
“And no one ever is,” Andrew replied, stepping forward slowly. It was so hard to keep himself composed, but he knewhe had to do it. “But I’m telling you now. You’re not doing yourself any favorsby staying here.”
“Wow, now you’re telling me about what’s best for me. Well, news-fucking-flash, Andrew Minyard. Ithink I can handle myself.”
“No, you can’t! If you can, you would’ve been gone from this place a longdamn time ago. You know I’m making sense. You’renot human anymore, Josten. You have to fucking accept that.”
“And what about you, huh? What is it about methat keeps you coming back? I’m ‘not human anymore’? Fine. Then why do you keep going here, at the crack-of-God’s-ass‘o clock, visiting me?”
“Because I care about you, idiot. Don’t you think it hurts me to see you likethis, too?”
“Oh, boo-freaking-hoo, Andrew Minyard is still alive, getme a tissue.”
Andrew exhaled, getting the rageout of his system before he did anything drastic. Crossing his arms, he saidthe one thing that’s been on his mind ever since he got there.
“So if I went and offed myself.Would that help?”
Neil, as always, doesn’t properlylisten when he’s in the heat of the moment. “If you— what?”
Clearing his throat, Andrew repeatedhimself.
“If I died. Passed away. Left thislife. Etcetera etcetera. Would you finally move on to the afterlife?”
“You’re being ridiculous. Wheredid you get that dumb idea? It’s not that easy.”
“Then what, for God’s sake, wouldmake it easy—”
“Nothing, Andrew! Don’t youfucking understand?”
Neil’s outburst was so strong thata wind blew through the house, and every door in the house began openning andslamming back shut. Andrew was taken aback. The pressure in the room was sostrong, and the doors were so loud.He shut his eyes and took a few more breaths to steady himself. Anger and fearwas not the greatest combination to deal with.
Easy, Minyard.
After calming down himself, Neilshook his head.
“Don’t you get it?” He startedagain, less harshly this time. “My entire childhood, I never got to make anypart of it mine. It was always, new nickname this time around, or new state thenext month, or new house to break into later on. Mom died, and I had to livewith her voice of disappointment wherever I went. It was absolutely miserable. Andthen I came across Exy, which gave me the chance to take a small part of itback. For myself.
“And then the Foxes came along, and. And you guys were everything. Not from the start, no. At the start, a lot of you were major assholes,” Atthis, Andrew nodded in agreement, and Neil continued, “But then you guys becamefamily. And every game that Palmetto State got me to, gave me even more andmore reasons to keep going. Wymack was, sort of, the father I never knew Ineeded. And somewhere along the way, I saw you in a way that I never saw anyoneelse before, and, well, I guess the rest was history.
“I finally, finally had the life Iwanted. And I had that life to share with you. It wasn’t perfect, and it suretook some work getting there, what with my father and the Moriyamas and all,but I made it. I was myself. And I hadthat going for me for a long time. Seventeen years with you was wonderful. ButI knew I wanted the lifetime package. But then Lola came that day, and… andtook it all away. Just when I was just getting ready for the long haul.”
Neil sat back down, leaving Andrewabsolutely speechless. This was a side of Neil that he has never heard before.A lot of things were going on in his mind right now, and none of them was theright thing to say in this situation.
“Do you know what I was doing thatday, Andrew?” Neil continued, not looking up at him. “Because I do. I stillfucking remember. I was about to put in a call for this house I wanted, justoutside of South Carolina. Somewhere in Pontiac. Matt told me about a reallygood deal by a friend of his, so I went to check the house out a couple weeksback. I was going to say yes to the realtor and put in the first payment. Itwas going to be a surprise.”
Sitting back down carefully,Andrew made sure to look at Neil this time, listening to everything he had tosay. He put his hand on top of Neil’s spirit one, watching Neil’s materializedface shed a tear.
“Shit,” Andrew whispered. He hated seeing Neil cry. “I never knew.”
“Yeah,” Neil sniffled, putting hishand to his face and wiping off a tear. “It’s because I did my best to keep thesecret this time around.”
And they stayed like that, staringinto each other’s eyes, for a little bit longer. Andrew could only hear hisheartbeat, the crickets outside, and Neil’s labored breathing, from his entiredialogue earlier.
“Andrew,” Neil murmured. “I’mscared.”
Gritting his teeth, Andrewreplied, “I am too. It was hell tolose you the first time. But this is something you have to do.” After a beat,he added, “It’ll get easier.”
When Neil didn’t reply, Andrew puthis lips to where he saw Neil’s cheek was, and kissed. Andrew didn’t feelanything, but Neil let out a humorless chuckle.
“Thanks for trying, asshat,” hesaid, and Andrew knew they were okay again. He didn’t really know what to saynext, so he only nodded. Neil inhaled, exhaled, and clenched both his fists.
“Fine. I’ll stop being a ghoststuck in the past,” Neil said, and stood up. He rolled his shoulders back, andstretched his neck. “The afterlife can’t be thatbad.”
“If you get sent to hell, please reserve my slot.”
“You know there’s one with your name on it already.”
They could sit there and jokeabout it for another hour, and it still wouldn’t make the goodbye any better. Neilwas off staring at absolutely nothing, like he was trying to find the words tomake it easier. Andrew knew this, so he stood up with Neil, staring into thesame nothingness.
“Hey,” Neil said, after anotherlong, quiet minute. “I’m with you, okay?”
Andrew thought about how a clockcan fail to tell time the moment it was set wrong. It was a fact of life thathe used to be frustrated with, because he had wanted to go back and change thepast. He had wished he did things differently, sway the odds in his favor. Dothe groceries the previous day instead. Get home a little earlier. Kill Lolabefore she got to shoot Neil.
But now, Andrew knew that he neededto stop playing god. Every single thing in the universe was going to come andgo, no matter what anyone did, and nobody could change that.
What made everything morebearable, Andrew knew, was the people that he went through time with.
“Always,” he replied, looking atNeil one last time. He couldn’t believe this was going to be the last time. Thetightness in his chest was enough to stop him from breathing.
It was almost like he was losingNeil all over again.
Neil smiled sadly at Andrew, almost as if he was trying to hold back more tears.
Then, he looked up, and he wasgone. And for the first time since he had bought the house, Andrew was on hisown.
For the first time, Andrew wasalone.

flyer #1
Flyers. Yuta could hear his sister laughing from where she was at home. When he’d been trying to find students to tutor, he had hated handing out flyers and trying to get people to stop long enough to let him thrust one into their hands before they could stop him. Still, he had a smile on his lips. One he could wear because whenever he looked down, he read ‘TRC’ and that was better than ‘tutor’. With one in hand, he was offering it out to someone who preferred to pretend they were busy with their phone than accept a piece of paper. Frustration was nearly appearing in his features before he saw her. “Hey, please, take one of these,” Yuta smiles at her as he does, offering out the flyer to Rose and urging it into her hands. A smile wide on his lips, hoping to appeal to her with it. All he had to do was get rid of them and he’d be happy. “It’s got some vital information on it,” followed by a light chuckle.
it’s that time of year, newcomers have been signed to the big five via a competition, and for once, she isn’t the newcomer at seocho, or even royal for that matter. she’s hardly caught off guard by strangers shoving flyers into her hands or waving them in front of her eyes as she’s staring off into space. rose is slightly caught off guard by someone who hands her a flyer with some sort of urgency. it’s yuta, they performed together a while back and she’s surprised to see his face around here. he must of gotten signed too, he must be one of the lucky ones. rose smiles.
“oh, hey there.” she says, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear, not even bothering to ask how he was, or how training was. he was here to give her a flyer and that was the end of it. she nods, taking the flyer in her hands. she’s seen this flyer before, but her eyes still glaze over it momentarily before she looks up at yuta with a glare. a friendly one, though. “trc entertainment, vital information.” she says, reiterating his own words. “sure thing, thank you.” she nods again, this’ll end up on the fridge or in the flyer box amongst all the others she’s managed to collect. “good luck with your training, you’re gonna need it.”

flyer #1!
the exciting news is that she’s already starting her training soon but first step kicks off with passing flyers around town. she’s not too sure why this is the first activity but in dire need of knowledge, she does her mission. maybe it’s a social test! she muses, could be something else too. the first flyer she gives to is her baby cousin, juyeon. someone she feels like she’s neglected because of not being able to communicate in such a long time. “juyeon-ah! dongsaeng, take one of these please? unnie needs to get it out of her hands soon as soon as possible.” she passes on the flyer to the younger before pulling her into a bear hug. “i’ve missed you so much!”
she’s still somewhat down in the dump around missing out on her opportunity to perform at the trc competition. juyeon could of had it in the bag, but nerves got the better of her. maybe this was the universe telling her something. regardless, she’s ecstatic to hear the news of her other cousin getting into a company. she was beyond proud of her, and it just so happened that nova had taken on naeun too. it only seemed fitting that she join her and seokjin now. “unnie!” juyeon exclaims almost immediately upon seeing the older female. “of course i’ll take one of these, oh my goodness!” she exclaims, taking the flyer. naeun pulls her into a bear hug, and juyeon wraps her arms around naeun’s torso, grinning. “i’ve missed you too.” she says with a sigh. they pull away and juyeon looks down at the flyer with wide eyes. “ah! you’re at nova with seokjin oppa now.” she murmurs, mentioning her one cousin to the other. “looks like i really have to get into nova, right?”

Initially taking on the project
In September 2017, we were introduced to our semester one modules of third year. These included both PA0325 Professional Directions and PA0335 Platforms. Platforms is an independent study based module, enabling students to identify a key area of interest within performance practice. The module culminates in two days of performance work, that are designed to be with open audiences.
Both of us have had previous experience with managing performances from different modules in the last two years at university. When the opportunity arose to take on the responsibility of creating an event out of platforms, and assisting with the producing aspects; we felt it would allow us to use skills we’d developed previously and would also allow us to gain a proto-professional credit in something we both have an interest in entering post graduation. Alongside taking on the role of production assistants we would also be working as part of a group to enter a piece of performance work into the showcase.
We worked closely with Linda Taylor, the module tutor, to form initial ideas of our roles and the work we would undertake. We planned to attend the weekly technical team meeting, act as a liaison between the technical staff and lecturers and the students. One of the main aims of this role was to make the process of leading and performing within this module, an easier and smoother process. We would also run different social media accounts to ensure that the audience uptake of the event was as positive as it could be, and running ticketing systems to monitor the uptake of the audience to all four of the performances. We concluded that we would market the event as Platforms 2017, a two day showcase featuring NPA third year students.
The purpose of this blog is to follow our process through this project, demonstrating the way in which we aimed to professionally complete each of our roles, and how successful each part of these roles were. We began this process by creating a list of SMART objectives.
S- Specific
We want to produce a successful two day theatre showcase.
M- Measurable
We will measure our success through cast and creative team appraisals.
A- Achievable
We will use past experience, resources from university, the knowledge and support of the creative team we’re working with, and a range of reading materials.
R- Relevant/Realistic
We will ensure we are fully capable to complete every task and role we take on through this process.
T- Time
The time scale of Platforms 2017 is September to December 2017.
As the module progressed we compiled a list of our specific responsibilities, this would be given to the entire creative team and where relevant, relayed back to the students on the module. This was to make clear to all involved the parameters of our role, so we weren’t asked too much, or doing too little. The full list we compiled is below.

♔ flyer #1
dokyeom’s been standing around handing out these trc flyers that he can’t even recall the exact time. not that it matters anyways. not when the stack of papers he was provided with is dwindling down at a fast rate. he quite literally gives every person he sees or passes by a sheet regardless of whether or not they want it. “hey there! you look like you’d enjoy this flyer! please support trc! it’d be much appreciated, trust me~ thanks again~”
Mingyu is walking by quickly, so he almost doesn't even stop in time to accept the paper that is being handed to him. Thankfully, it manages to catch his attention so he comes to a quick halt and awkwardly shuffles a little before taking the flyer in one of his hands. He briefly scans the sheet before offering up a smile and a nod. "Thanks. I'll look over it more once I'm home. I appreciate it. Don't work too hard, okay?" He quietly laughed at his own attempt at being friendly and social, and he folded the paper and put it in his pocket once he began to go about his business once again, eager to reach his destination.

Flyer 1;;
This major throw back was something Jihoon had really not expected to happen to him, but he guessed it was never to late to accept the fact that he was handing out flyers. This time, it was warm and sunny, definitely different from the cold winter he got accepted in TRC. Maybe it was for the better now, as he approached random strangers with a small smile on his features and handed them a flyer. Seoul’s center was busy as ever, so it really did make it a lot easier. As he approached the next person, he spoke up first to catch their attention. “Hello, here’s a flyer with fun information about KT entertainment, concerts and similar dates are on them, hope to see you there sometime.” Jihoon said with a smile as the flyer was taken off him and he continued his way down the street. He still had a lot of those papers to hand out.
it’s not as though it’s never happened before. eunji has received flyers and solicitations from random people on the street since she was a kid. but it seems that with her recent decision to seriously consider it, reminders of the entertainment world are popping up left and right. or maybe she just notices it more.
this time it’s a guy, a young man with a smile and a flyer held outstretched in her face. eunji grabs it as the two pass by each other and mumbles through her teeth. “thanks.” kt is a household name, of course, and the last company she would seriously consider if she really went down the idol path. her eyes flicker over the flyer. gee gee baby dances through her head. yep, that kid has the face and demeanor to match that image, too. turning a corner, she crumples the paper into a ball and tosses it into the next wastebin she passes.
sure, the thought of gracing magazine covers and reaching a global audience sounds appealing. but standing out here like a common street vendor with a friendly attitude plastered on is a level eunji couldn’t stoop to for anything.

It’s June 2nd when trainees are called to hear what exactly was prepared for them this month. The coaches tell them they will be grouped with their company mates this time, separated by gender except for Nova who’ll get to work all together. The challenge sounds easy: choose three of your company seniors’ songs and perform them. Don’t worry, only dancing is asked this time! The only trick seems to be their evaluation performance is scheduled for the following week, June 9th.
When the day comes, the trainees start their performance as it should be, but are soon surprised by the catch. The coaches warned them right before they started to keep performing no matter what happened, and, unlike a few months before, the song does not stop. Instead, it skips ahead, and a few moments later changes to your second song. Maybe it takes some time for the trainees to notice, but what they’re going through is the famous Random Play Dance. They’re expected to adjust their formation and continue dancing to which part of the song is playing.
Once the game finally comes to its end (maybe after tricking the trainees into thinking it was over a few times before), the coaches announce the real evaluation for the month. It’s a variety month, and everybody will have to do their best to impress. With the first week going by, trainees are assigned their second mission. They’re told to practice or discover one or more personal skill to show on the following Sunday, the 16th, in front of all your company mates. This can be anything from a weird trick you can do with your hands, imitating animals or anything you think could impress. They’re told languages and instruments are off-limits. Remember that this is supposed to be variety, so don’t go for anything that’d leave a possible fan uninterested!
The third challenge is something that anyone aspiring to do well with variety should know how to do. During this week, the companies will receive the visit of comedian Shin Beomsu to talk and show a bit of how improv works. On the 23rd, they’ll be grouped to work on a scene they will only learn the theme of on the spot. Everybody will gather at their own company’s auditorium and, as the coaches call your name, you take the stage with your new partners and do your best not to get out of character or too boring. Treat your labelmates watching you as a real public and make sure they’re entertained! A list of the groups and themes can be found below the cut.
Finally, when the fourth week comes, the coaches keep it with an air of mystery. The only hint is that they should work hard during gym workout but, apart from that, the only real information comes on d-day, June 30th. At the very last day of the month, exactly at 2pm, all trainees are called into the gym for their final evaluation of the month. Each one of them receives a special vest to put on with a single white line on the back. The challenge is announced quickly, and most people would probably understand it right away. They’re told to take their name tags at the exit with the coaches and then hide somewhere because they’re about to re-create an episode of Running Man inside their building. They’re told that, at exactly 2:30pm, the game starts.
Once everyone is sent running and the time hits, the game will start. Whoever gets their nametag ripped from their back will have to return to the gym and wait for the final results. Trainees are expected to make it fair and coaches will be roaming around the building to make sure no one gets hurt. They are also told to avoid getting near their CEO’s office as the off-limits area. We’ll announce the winner OOC on the 1st of July.
In order to collect +2 POINTS TO DISTRIBUTE AS YOU WISH and +2 DEBUT POINTS, write one 250+ words solo or a four post thread with another trainee involving any preparation this month’s evaluation. For +3 POINTS TO DISTRIBUTE AS YOU WISH SKILL, +2 DEBUT POINTS, and +1WK VARIETY ACHIEVEMENT, write one 300+ words solo or a four post thread solo regarding any of the final challenges during the month. Please tag all your posts as #rkjune19eval and have them up by midnight EST at the end of Sunday, June 30th.
