This fic covers how Natah and Margulis are adapting to their plurality, how and why Lotus named herself Lotus, and of course, the very beginnings of Space Mom Headmate Yuri.

Natah has taken charge of leading the system, being a surprisingly sweet overseer-figure for her headmates... Margulis is struggling with the post-war origin system and the circumstances of her resurrection... And Lotus is trying her best to soothe her while being an anxious little ball of Sentient nerves.

Very much a character study; highly highly highlyyy recommend reading this one!

💙 Within Our Mirrors (I See You) [~12700 words]

Post-New War. Lotus, Natah and Margulis struggle (a Lot) with their newfound plurality, paralleling the Operator and Drifter's journey on getting to understand each other and themselves.

Lotus was chosen to lead the system, but Natah and Marg are awful at teamwork and they hate each other very loudly, giving Lotus horrible headaches on top of her unaddressed PTSD.

Unfortunately on hiatus because balancing the tone of this fic is Rough; i have a lighthearted writing style but my headcanons for Lotus' trauma can get very heavy. I have lost the plot many times!!

This also started primarily as a DrifterLotus fic before i realized that what the Lotus Headmates have with each other is way more compelling, but this fic has a lotta hits and Kudos for many good reasons so don't worry, I'm not marking it abandoned yet...

Elden Ring Theories: A Retrospective

So, enough time has passed for me to form my opinion on Shadow of the Erdtree and revive this blog. But before posting new theories based on the DLC lore, I decided to take a look at my old speculations and see how well they aged.

Does the Greater Will even exist? ✅ In this post, I compared the Greater Will to the Big Bang and suggested that it might not be an actual deity, but rather an attempt by the people of The Lands Between to explain the world around them: the creation of the universe, the fall of meteors, evolution, and the natural order. The Shadow of the Erdtree continues to present the Greater Will as a scientific concept described by the inhabitants of a fantasy world, allowing players to decide whether it’s a god beyond the microcosm or just an empty circle in Count Ymir’s hat, a mere projection of human imagination

The outer gods are natural forces. ✅ 🟡❔While the Greater Will's cosmic origin was emphasized even further in the DLC, the motives of the outer gods were tied even more strongly to earthly concepts. I have many thoughts about the outer gods and godhood in particular, but one of my ongoing ideas is that they manifest human emotions, given how perception and sacrifices shape reality in a material way in the Lands Between.

Elden Ring and Color theory: ✅🟡❔ While I disagree with some points I made in this post, many of my observations were quite accurate. One clarification I’d like to make is that the scroll sigils indicate the heritage of magic rather than its source of power. I also appreciate the DLC narrative that suggests all the differences are actually man-made.

Translation of Marika's echoes from JP, ✅ The DLC gives Marika such human and deeply personal motivations that reducing her to a mere puppet of an evil outer god feels like an insult to the collaborative work of GRRM and Miyazaki. I must admit that my initial reading of her character was too harsh; I even questioned why FromSoft would write such a one-dimensional character. However, I’m very glad that The Shadow of the Erdtree gave Marika awesome depth without depriving her of agency.

My musings upon Helphen's Steeple design and DLC predictions ✅ 🟡 Well, the Shadowlands are described as a place where all kinds of death come only to be suppressed, and the Shadowkeep, as pointed out by the community, very much resembles the design of the Helphen. You can even find Tibia Mariners' boats here. It’s not the exact version of the spirit realm I predicted, but it’s very close.

Small bonus: Even though I insisted that the DLC should be centered around the spirit realm, I pointed out that exploring Godwyn's story beyond what was shown in the base game is pretty unnecessary.

What's wrong with Ranni's Two Fingers? ✅🟡❌ Right direction of thinking, wrong conclusions. One of the biggest reveals of the DLC is that everything is wrong with the Fingers and their mother, Metyr.

Children of the Erdtree 🟡❔I'm not sure what to make of it. The DLC continues to toy with the Empyrean connection to plants, from the special properties of Marika's people's flesh to St. Trina being a literal flower, but it never makes any direct conclusions.

Bells and Bell bearings ❔ The connection does exist, but it should be explored in greater detail.

Candletrees, Miquella, Death and Sleep 💡❔✨ Now that the DLC has revealed Miquella's plan to replace Marika all along, it’s astonishing to realize that my earlier discovery about Necromancer Garris — who likely collaborated with the Black Knives — had Miquella's butterfly and candletree in his basement is actually quite wild

What is Crucible? 🟡❌❔Although the nature of the Crucible is still a mystery, I think my old theory that it was a different tree is not exactly right. I’ve even started to wonder if the Crucible and the Primeval Current are just different names for the same thing.

Some of my old takes haven't aged well, but if anything, I'm glad that Mohg isn't the "walking uooohh 😭💢 joke" I used to call him. However, my opinion on Miquella was surprisingly accurate. For two years, the fandom preached that Miquella wanted to abandon his godhood, making me seem like a major contrarian for insisting that godhood was still his ultimate goal (at least because it would be pointless from a writing perspective to create another Ranni).

I still believe that characters like Marika and Miquella are primarily vehicles to deliver Miyazaki's and GRRM's ideas regarding civilization development, human nature, religion, and philosophy. So, whatever faults they have are the faults of the concepts they represent. Nevertheless, *Shadow of the Erdtree* did an awesome job of elevating these characters from mere ideas to something more human and relatable.

My old description of Malenia is so relevant, it hurts.

Mohg, Radahn, Rykard and Snakes 🐍 Honestly, I'm not sure if Messmer was initially planned by FromSoft or created specifically for the DLC, but looking back, it's pretty funny that I noticed something weird going on between the demigod brothers and the serpents.

Elden Ring lore is a disaster 🤡 Elden Ring story is such lackluster that it was rewritten with the first day patch on top of the giant mountain of cut content. I’m not sure that DLC, if there will be any, can fix this mess or give any proper answers as it seems that writers got too much carried with the idea of making story as vague as possible.

Someone was overdosing on doomium.

To my surprise, the DLC managed to address most of my old frustrations. While I do wish certain things had better foreshadowing or were explored more, it still did a good job of filling many gaps in the base game lore that were making me frustrated. Looking back, I think some of my grudges over the lore were no less important than my theories because they served as a good indication that something was intentionally left unexplained. It seems that the gaps and ambiguities were not oversights but deliberate choices.

As I explore the new content in Shadow of the Erdtree and revisit my old theories, I will also share my thoughts on the new lore and its impact on the narrative. This fresh perspective has already sparked some intriguing insights, and I am eager to see how these revelations will reshape our understanding of the game’s world.

Zai was born from me going through a Netrunner phase at about the same time I was still knee deep in Ruroken and translating characters through into cyberpunk settings as a thought exercise, and then cackling over my Netrunner cards as I plotted out fake corporation runs and oh no whoops now I gotta Write The Thing--

This is especially ironic as up until this point I was turning my nose up at all the AUs in fandom and all the ships in fandom going "Why does nobody build on what is present in canon FINE I will write CANON STUFF ONLY TO MAKE UP FOR IT" (two years later putting on clown makeup: hey what if cyberpunk samurai. Look I love AUs now, they had to grow on me first that's all! Everyone should be thankful I never wrote the RK/TMNT crossover or the RK/POTC crossover or-- anyway.)

There are multiple balls up in the air with this one. Here's a freebie: everyone wants to know who SE is. SE has already made an appearance. SE wasn't even hidden in any way. Some people have made guesses as to who SE is and some of them come close to being accurate. The initials throw people off, you see.

But just remember that people on the net rarely go by their own name. ♪♫ I've been cackling about SE since 2006 and I'm not about to stop.

On another note, did you know Fujita is historically one of the original zaibatsu? Anyway, having reread this very recently and done a speedrun of the manga to boot for canon review, Zai is very high in my thoughts right now. <3

First, thanks for asking me!

4. A story idea you haven't written yet.

A lot of original work I want to get to, but as for XF fan fiction; An episode of my 'X-Couple' series (a spoof where Skinner and Smoking Man are cast as the Odd Couple), that focuses on a trip to the beach. Yeah, it's a ridiculous spoof series, but I love the absurdity and outrageous improbabilities it affords.

A work in progress that I do not feel that I've truly started is 'That Time in Vegas.' A big production in my head, paring my favorite characters (The Lone Gunmen, Skinner, Morris Fletcher, and of course Scully) in a epic situation.

14. Where do you get your inspiration?

The voices in my head and a lot of unbidden imagery, all of which is generally the result of music. Ideas, actions, dialogue - a great deal of it can come to me while listening to music, hearing a lyric or chord. A single song can bring to life an entire movie in my head.

I also have to say that hearing from a reader who got a specific scene the way I intended—especially an esoteric detail I agonized over—is incredibly rewarding. It’s funny, because I tend to spend the most time suffering over those details, pushing myself with unrelenting (and probably unrealistic) challenges. But when someone catches on to exactly what I meant, it feels like all that effort was worth it. It’s a perfect balance of joy and validation in the creative process.

🥟: When I was younger, I tried not to waste each day, to the point of being a little hard on myself, but my thoughts have changed as I've gotten older. Now I think it's good if I can be happy at least once a day.

🥟: The gift would be rest and peace. And in the letter, I think I would write: "Have a pleasant day so that the day is no different from yesterday."

🥟: I didn't journal about my most memorable birthday and I'm suddenly feeling a little regretful. But if I had written it, I think the first sentence would have been “I was excited today.” If I had to write a sentence in my journal for the future birthday I most anticipate, I think the first sentence would be "Today I was happy."

❕❔ hey! 19 male here, back in my writing era & absolutely frothing at the mouth for someone to write against one of my original characters in an m x m and oc x oc plot! i write on tumblr and/or discord so it all depends on what you’re most comfortable with. i’m comfortable with a wide variety of genres and tropes, but have most experience with slice-of-life, horror, and historical.

Flamingo (they/them) is a...flamingo. But not just any flamingo! They're shockingly intelligent, and unfortunately still can't talk (yes this is a weird thing), so they usually write down whatever they want to say on a sheet of paper. They're out of paper. You wanna know another fact about them? They're not even from this game! They were actually part of a whimsical tic-tac-toe game, until they got dropped into a whimsical Oregon Trail-like game, and now they're leaving the Ludoplane entirely and heading into Exclamania for the first time. Take note: Their actions will likely contain 200% of your recommended daily dosage of emoji due to their origin.

They're the only surviving member of the Trail. Right now, they just want a good rest, but it'll probably be harder than they might think, right...?

Cleck (he/they) works as a File Clerk for the Steel Corps. They are a being made of dreams, dreams that remind you of lilies on nice spring afternoons. The day is Thursday, and the breeze flows across your face. It has recently rained, and the smell is relaxing. A nice break from all the commotion of the office space.

This is why they are called a Dreamwalker. They are the culmination of all these ideas. These ideas and feelings are what make him unique. He is periwinkle-colored, like a piece of a bright, sunny day fell down to earth and coalesced into a human form, and wears a pair of blue bottle glasses. He usually wears a simple office uniform, complete with a tie. Their accent is noticeable, but you can't quite place your finger on it.

He does not know how he ended up in Exclamania. One moment, he was doing paperwork, and the next, he's in this strange space. He just wants to go back home.

His emojis consist of two differently-colored question marks, similar to an Exclam. Don't be fooled, though.

So while it's living in my brain rent free, I'll talk a bit about this high school drama au.

I wrote bits and pieces of an original story about high school drama club. It has some good vignettes, but no overall shape. So it hasn't really gotten anywhere.

When I was reading Romeo and Juliet with my students last spring I kept thinking about Sirius playing Mercutio and James joining the play to impress Lily. The plot bunny was born.

I had other things I was working on, and didn't really write much of it until now. So now I have a clearer idea of the plot and such so I'm hoping to develop it from here.

hmm alright i think im just gonna talk about the one i am closest to posting and add a snippet of it for the second thing ^_^

so this is the unpopular character prompt and i chose demure because he is awesome and i love him. ofc i had to add kyoya. honestly was very excited to try out the demure/kyoya ship for the first time, its been a lot of fun so far figuring out their dynamic and how they would work together as a duo especially considering how little they actually interact in the show.

it was hard for me to imagine kyoya being kind(?) enough to demure for their relationship to work without changing their original dynamic much. thats why i had to set this post-fury and establish how these characters changed and how they see each other differently now.

the fic itself is a little short, probably around 2k when im done, but because of what i mentioned above i spend way too much time establishing their dynamic and what they think of each other (or rather what demure thinks of kyoya) than on their actual date lol; not that demure knows that its a date

tbh i really enjoyed working on something fluffy and cute after the last fic i posted which was just an angst fest. i could really see myself writing these two more often.

📝Share a snippet of an unposted WIP, with or without context.

It's so different to see Kyoya again. Demure has always had a bit of some kind of hero worship for Kyoya, ever since that first meeting at the qualifiers for the world championships. Kyoya had been confident and steadfast and strong and Demure had learnt a lot from him. To believe in himself and trust in his own abilities, to fight for the victories that really matter. Demure has grown more of a backbone since then and he attributes that, too, to Kyoya. At least, in part.

And now everything is different from then. Looking back, Demure now realizes that Kyoya used to be a bit of an ass, that his confidence constantly teetered on arrogance, that he never trusted them as much as they trusted and depended on him. It feels good to be able to look back and pick apart all their interactions and Kyoya's little mannerisms in a way he couldn't before, because his understanding of Kyoya has increased quite significantly.

I'm going to choose Silk, because it is a WIP that I've been working on for quite some time and it's a fanfiction, so I'm not as tight lipped about it, as I am about my other projects. c:

Silk is an Arcane fanfiction. For everyone who's interested: The story follows Silcos, Benzos and Vanders life in the Underground, how they came to be the "leaders of the rebellion" and their eventual demise, but it has a little twist that goes more into the canon divergence territory (It doesn't change anything about the ending the characters have in the show, that will still be very much canon compliant. It just has something to do with Silcos background). The POV will switch, but is mostly focused on Silco, and while it has more of a origin story kind of feeling, there will be some Silco&Jinx father/daughter interactions sprinkled in. But mostly, it will be about the three "boys" in their younger years. You may also see Sevika in her teenage years. c:

^ Also regarding Silk. There's going to be a scene on a cliff. Two scenes, actually. They kind of mirror each other and and I'm just excited to go into the symbolism, and the parallels and the FEELS.

hahaha i feel like i say this every single time i reply to a meme like this but general forewarning that on my end i will be working exclusively with the muses of yours i'm actually familiar with, but this in no way means i'm not open to interactions with muses not listed on either end!! i am happy to write any and all muse combinations for the most part these are just a few that come to mind!!

okay! first and most obvious (in my opinion), i would absolutely LOVE to discuss some things between iorveth and isengrim at some point. aside from the fact that i just love writing isengrim in general, i've never fully gotten the opportunity to explore a potential dynamic between him and iorveth, and i think that's a shame. i've been itching to send something but because of my work and other hobbies i'm never on the dash at the right time to catch a meme being reblogged. in any case, when i DO luck out, you can count on that sort of thing being the first thing i send.

this one is a little more weird but i would LOVE to send tempest at legolas sometime (or even iorveth as well)!! he's an original elven character who has... semi work-in-progress verses for both witcher and tolkien. the general gist of his character is he's the sort of person who makes himself everyone's enemy so they can unite at his own expense---sort of a backline schemer type of character who's a lot more sympathetic than he lets on. i think the general dour and pessimistic tone of tempest's character would contrast well against legolas very much not being that way, and i also think it would be a good complementary interaction for iorveth.

the third and final muse of yours on this blog i know is venti, naturally, but i would like for them and parsifal to interact!! supposing you're not familiar with the artifact lore in genshin, parsifal was the wielder of the iron sting, alley flash, and alley hunter, and the phantom thief mentioned in wine and song, as well as the skipper's first mate from the heart of depth artifact set and serpent spine claymore. once upon a time he was part of a larger storyline related to old fabled "characters" from mondstadt and liyue's past suddenly being resurrected and given second chances, but he's pretty much alone in that now. i just think it would be interesting for the two of them to interact given parsi's famous history and odd resurrection. i don't know. he has a whole plot in modern mondstadt where he's learning about the extent of his brother eberhart's betrayal so maybe venti could have a part in that or something.

honorable mention to brynn and leslaw who are going to interact very soon anyway. also honorable mention to ciri and twain just bc ciri isn't on this blog and i feel kind of obligated to toss twain into these posts at least once but i do really mean this. i do.
