i've just been thinking about how in addition to the you know, snapped leg, fucked up ribs, bruises and cuts, the rash from the anomaly in a in a few palaces he probably also fucked up his hands to an extent. at least some surface level cuts if not deeper. at least a few burns on on his hands or along his wrists from you know. literally tearing apart his hammer and then having to turn it into his leg brace which had to involve fire and all the force he had left

jayce zaunite au ( inspired by this fanart )

jayce is from piltover as he is in canon

after the death of his father and his mom takes over in their factory, things begin to fall apart

it's discovered his father recklessly spent money he didn't have. he owed a lot of bad people money

for their safety, his mom ultimately needs to shut down the factory and sell it as well as their more modest home to pay off these people

they plan on leaving and going to see family of his mother's in another area, but they are caught in the snowstorm that almost kills his mom (like canon) they are saved by the mage, and jayce is enamored by magic and has the rune

when they return to piltover they have nowhere to go, so they end up moving to the undercity (jayce is around 8/9)

jayce and his mom are ostracized as they're from piltover

jayce learns to defend himself quickly, taking out his anger about losing everything. he had minimal things left from home, some of which being tools from his dad and books. which other kids tauntingly destroyed

jayce ends up scavenging for some extra money for a repair shop. and one day starts to fix up things in the shop, ultimately getting a job there. first just for change, then more formally when he's old enough.

he repairs everything from clocks to hair trimmers to weapons

jayce has kept the rune all this time. in his scavenging as a kid, and later when he gets to send kids to scavenge for him, he finds books and tries to get the education he can't afford. he will still try to fuck with hextech xoxo
