[ I'm having Flora brainworms again so have a headcanon

St. Mystere (or Saint-Mystère) is located in rural Alsace, a region of France that borders Germany and Switzerland, and a region culturally a mix of French and German. The Reinholds are an old German family, and have owned the land that St. Mystere rests on for years despite the borders constantly changing it between French and German territory.

Flora was privately tutored growing up, and because of this is fluent in German (her native language), French, and English. This is quite helpful when solving puzzles, though sometimes it takes her a bit to find the right word she's looking for. She also speaks all three languages quite formally (I imagine for French at least she always uses the pronoun 'vous' when talking to someone, even someone she's close to), because of her secluded upbringing and tutoring. ]

Oh, she never should have followed the Professor and Luke.

Flora clutched at her cardigan to keep herself warm, looking around fretfully at the seemingly never-ending ruins. Like always, it seemed, Flora hadn't been permitted to come along with the Professor and Luke when they traveled, no matter how much the young girl begged to be taken along, with only comments on how she would be in danger and they wanted to keep her safe.

She'd proven them wrong before, but now it seemed like they might have had a point. She was cold, hungry, and hopelessly lost.

"Hello? Is there anyone there...?"

"Oh, this is wonderful! And you drive the train?"

This train was quite different from the one other railway that Flora had been on in her life. Despite the difficulties she, the Professor, and Luke had endured, Flora had quite liked the Molentary Express, and she was shaping up to like this train as well. It certainly had a kind and knowledgable engineer, it seemed.

"I'm sorry, sir, what did you say it was called? It's the first... sub-way... I've ever been on. I'm from the country, you see."

This poor man didn't need all the unnecessary details about Saint Mystere - unless sub-ways were common in small villages. Were they?
