Something that I see being part of many people's aroace experience is discovering themselves as ace before discovering themselves as aro. In my case, I kind of already realized that I was an aro before realizing that I was an ace. At the time I was 13 or 14 and I didn't know the term for it, so I said I was "someone incapable of falling in love with someone else".

But because of ✨amatonormativity✨ I was conditioned to think that at some point this (romantic attraction) would happen. Although I always hoped that this would take a long time to happen, like it would only happen after I was 30 or even never happen. *laughs in aromantic*

It was only many years later, when I already understood myself as an ace, that I had my moment of realization. My "oh shit! I'm aro too" moment. It was a long journey until I understood and accepted myself but I'm happy now. Younger me would love to know it.

Hi!!! Hello!!! That is so cool @detectivesocietyfan!!! You will not believe how relieved I am to hear about another Hazel/George shipper!!! Lavinia/Daisy has been called weird before so I thought I was possibly going to get ripped to shreds for this ship 😭😭😭

I'm afraid I can't remember when I started shipping them but I do know why I do!!! I've never really enjoyed Halexander as a ship, I personally didn't like how nervous she was around him. Ik you do tend to get nervous with a crush, but it seemed to turn to anxiety at some points, and like she couldn't quite be herself with him. And also I didn't like that bit at the end of MAM where he was like "Hazel we're just mates right it's not Like That" because even if Hazel didn't like him, I don't like how Alex was trying to convince himself of his feelings by involving others? Idk how to explain it better, but I hope that makes sense!

(Also because of that moment I hc Alex as aromantic! To me, he seems very panicky at the prospect and I know it's intended to be about him not being able to admit his feelings, but my 'alex is aro' ship had already sailed at this point)

I was once upon a time a Haisy shipper, but imo they wanted different things from specifically a romantic relationship (those 2 are QPR to the max though!!!)

My favourite ship-worthy moment is also why I started shipping them! (Pretty much all of my favourite ships are made up of the smallest blink and you miss it moments). I'm afraid I don't have the book on me but in The Case Of The Missing Treasure there's a moment where they're solving codes together and Daisy (as the narrator) says something along the lines of 'they glowed happily at each other' like HELLO? DAISY WELLS said they GLOWED. This pretty much cemented it for me.

Any other info I have is that George is ABSOLUTELY a romantic. He writes the love letters, he buys the flowers, he is a True Gentleman and you cannot change my mind!!! And Hazel DESERVES this. lets start off wwith kankri. cronus wwas someone she wouldnt b particularly interested in at the vvery start of the game imo. that is until she noticed a change in his behavvior/beliefs. she wwas the first to notice that cronus gradually lost an interest in ✨magic✨ and seemed awwkwardly trying to find anything to latch onto afterwwards. kankri wwould probably do this wwith the others too, seer of blood an wwhatnot, but cronus in particular made her feel a sort of pity she couldn explain. she probably doesn realize it but i think she wwould devvelop at least a crush lol. i dont think kankri wwould approach him about it, just observvin from afar and treating him like normal. after their deaths, she wwould try her shot at actually befriending him tho! cause hey theyr dead. they havve nothin else to do. thats howw she wwould excuse it at least

“Hey, Yosuke I…” Your voice trails off as Yosuke gives you a hug. You feel your heart pound as Yosuke soothingly runs his hand up and down your back.

“Yeah? What’s up?” Yosuke gazes at you with eyes full of curiosity.

You were waiting outside of Yasogami High for Yosuke, and he finally arrived. You two have been pretty close for awhile now; you are one of his closest friends, aside from Yu Narukami.

Recently you’ve felt overjoyed whenever Yosuke entered your line of sight, and you’ve wanted to spend more time with him as of late. He’s been quite busy with his other friends so he hasn’t been spending as much time with you.

One afternoon your friend noticed the way your eyes lit up when Yosuke walked over to give you a hug. They teased you saying, “Looks like someone has a crush.”

You brushed the comment off at the time, but ever since then you’ve been thinking.. Maybe your friend was right? You've never experienced romantic attraction before so.. maybe they're on to something? Honestly, you’ll never know unless you’re upfront about your feelings with Yosuke.

And that’s what you’ve resolved to do today.

Yosuke waves a hand in front of your face, bringing you back to the present. “Helllooo, earth to Y/n. You there?” You take a deep breath as you push your nerves aside to have an honest conversation with Yosuke.

“Well… I think I like you. Like, romantically… maybe.” Yosuke freezes as his cheeks slowly turn to a pink hue. Your words were a little awkward, but he got the message.

He looks down at his feet as he nervously runs his fingers through his soft hair.

“Oh… well, honestly Y/n… I.. I believe the feelings are mutual.” Your eyes light up with joy at Yosuke’s confession. You both stare at each other for a few moments before you move in for another hug.

This time, Yosuke pulls you in a bit closer as he rests his head on your shoulder.

Your heart flutters, but otherwise.. you don’t feel any different. You assume it’s because of how close the two of you are, so you don’t worry yourself over it as the two of you walk to class.

“Hey! I’ve missed you.” Yosuke waves to you as you meet up with him in the halls of Yasogami High. “Hey!” You move in closer to give him a hug, and his wide grin causes you to sport one of your own.

You think you two should do more than hug and hold hands, but you aren’t exactly sure if you.. want to do more. I mean, you two only confessed your feelings for each other a few days ago. There’s no need to rush. 

Although, you do recall how uneasy you felt when you first held hands with Yosuke. The two of you gradually stopped holding hands for unspoken reasons. 

You stare at Yosuke once you pull away from the hug as you think about this. Yosuke chuckles as he raises an inquisitive eyebrow at your expression.

“Uh… you good?” You don’t respond to Yosuke’s question since you’re preoccupied with calming your nerves. You take a deep breath before you step closer to Yosuke.

His eyes follow your movements as you gently raise your hand to rest on his cheek. You feel all kinds of awkward doing this, but you figure it’ll feel better once your lips are actually on his.

These feelings have to be a part of the process, right?

Yosuke’s eyes look comically wide as you lean in to give him a kiss. As your lips meet his you expect fireworks to go off and for your heart to pound, like your friends have told you it feels. None of that happens. Instead, honestly you feel..

A little uncomfortable.

You quickly pull away to stare at Yosuke with an awkward grimace on your face. Will he be offended if you tell him you felt uncomfortable?  

..Even if he is, it’s better to be honest…

As you open your mouth to speak, Yosuke beats you to the punch.

“Um.. as much as I love hanging out with you, and as close as we are.. Um.. I’m thinking that kissing and like, doing romantic things like that just.. isn’t for me. Now don’t get me wrong! You’re an amazing person, but every time we’ve done something remotely romantic it just doesn’t… do anything for me.” Yosuke sheepishly looks away as he explains his feelings to you.

Instead of the angry rage he expected to see from you, there’s a smile on your lips. Yosuke doesn’t know if that’s a good sign or a bad one, but when you hug him he realizes everything will be okay.

Air finally enters his lungs as he releases a breath he didn’t know he was holding.

“Don’t worry about it, you dork. Honestly I wasn’t really feeling that kiss either, so the feelings’ mutual. …I think our classmates at Yasogami High put a lot of importance on romantic relationships, but they aren’t for everyone, you know? I think our relationship is fine as it is, without the romance. Agree?” You pull away from the hug to look at Yosuke.

You’re a bit startled when you see tears in his eyes, but your surprise quickly turns into joy when he grins at you. “Agreed! Now, wanna go annoy Teddie? I have today off from work, and Teddie got roped into helping out at Junes since he decided to “upgrade his wardrobe” if you know what I mean.”

I laugh as Yosuke rolls his eyes at the thought of Teddie being his usual self. We walk side by side as we head to Junes, minus the hand holding, and everything feels just right.

✨- How did you come up with the OC’s name?

I think Camille Louise Brandenburg was one of the first ocs I named with BehindTheName or similar. Just picking something from a list as opposed to trying to come up with something myself. I wanted something that was pretty, European (specifically plausibly British with some foreign roots), and felt sort of noble.

🌼 - How old are they? (Or approximate age range)

Visually speaking, Camille fluctuates between her late 20s and her mid-60s as she ages at a regular pace every time she reaches the end of her lifespan and is reborn. Actually speaking she is probably by default my oldest oc, even older than my other time-travelling types. I'd put her at over a billion years old.

🌺- Do they have any love interest(s)?

Nope! She is aromantic. Not asexual, as she likes every now and then to have a little bit of fun, but she doesn't feel the urge to get settled or tied down to any one person like that. She does have a very dear friend that she visited as frequently as possible during his lifetime, William Clarence. They knew each other when she was still mortal.

🍕 - What is their favorite food?

Ice cream! The particular type changes with the season but she IS themed after neopolitain ice cream for a reason. She also likes all kinds of gourmet, luxury foods that are hard to get access to.

💼 - What do they do for a living?

She's got a little traveling ice cream parlor that she runs for fun, the Loop n' Scoop, her current hobby at present. She's got a long line of odd jobs, side hustles, projects, and pies with her fingers in them that she's picked up and put down over the years. She also works as a sort of interdimensional luck/UE cultivator, depending on the specific mythos she's working in, to help safely allow it to accumulate and disperse without harming as many people as possible. She also used to run The Savior Brigade, which was a sort of field medic adjacent group that would rescue souls confirmed to be dead by the timeline in various disasters in the moments before their "canon" death, letting them live out the rest of their natural lives if so they chose before being returned to the time and place where they were destined to die.

🎹 - Do they have any hobbies?

Oh, loads. The ice cream is just the most recent and most enthralling of them. She tends to prefer creative hobbies over everything, but she keeps fit to help stave off dying of heart failure and whatnot because that's kind of unpleasant.

🎯 -What do they do best?

Realistically speaking, she's probably better equipped at actually traversing dimensions than most everyone, given her impervious nature and her natural sense for the fabric of spacetime and the way lives weave through it.

🥊 -What do they love to do? What do they hate to do?

She's a tourist at heart. She loves meeting new people, seeing the way they live, and helping them how she can. She's got a bit of a complex about it that's helped carry her through her long life.

She abhors violence, and especially killing, even when she's not the one doing it. She tries to turn a blind eye to it when it's necessary but is not always successful.

Running all around town with Clarence after ditching both of their classes. He bought her an orange and it was so precious to her she didn't even eat it until it had already grown a little bit dehydrated and mealy, just left it sitting on top of her dresser to admire.

✂️ - What is one of your OC’s worst memories?

You'd think it was the funerals of any one of her friends, but no, it was realizing that her ward had betrayed her.

🧊 - Is their current design the first one?

Nope. Camille's very first form was a self-insert (before she was named Camille, even) dimensional traveller in a setting built specifically for selfshipping. I eventually introduced Camille's design as a more mature version of the old character (Winter Corvak), before spinning the old character into an UTAU (Winter Seiyuu) that eventually I shelved altogether. I keep changing Camille's outfits but her fluffy pink hair and pudgy body has been roughly consistent.

🍀 - What originally inspired the OC?

I'm gonna be real, we're cooking with Nu Who the Doctor juice right here first and foremost. However, I've always been drawn to the River Song archetype of time traveller where time travellers meet out of sequence. Finally, there was a screenshot of a Tumblr post floating around Pinterest about this girl with a bob before and after curling it, and the colors in that screenshot lit some part of my brain up.

🌂 - What genre do they belong in?

I feel like she is so built for adventure sci-fi it's not even funny. But if I had to put her somewhere else, a courtly slice-of-life would be fun for her. Enriching.

💚 - What is your OC’s gender identity and sexuality?

She's aromantic, and is too old to care much for gender, but does tend to present femininely

I never gave her any, lol. I could see her with some though as part of her backstory.

A little strained. She was too wild to stay at home really, and didn't want to be arranged-married.

I like how versatile she is. She makes for a great character to just pop in and play dolls with because she's very consistent to write, but at the same time, easy to vary without being forced to remember every little detail about her.

I don't write prose much for her because it's kind of difficult to pin down her life and arc because of how MUCH of it there is. I'm currently using her in an rp with @the-goblin-cat and @jin-kies, though, as a hook into the wider multiverse in our zany Monster of the Week adjacent game. I used to doodle her a lot more in high school but it's been a while since I've drawn her in general.

Who’s the Dom? Alix

How they got together? Unlike most Chloe pairs, I think this one is really the only one that I can imagine them getting together pre-Chloe redemption. I just feel that Chloe deciding to change comes as an after thought, once she realizes that she really cares about Alix and she KNOWS that she’s not going to put up with her bullcrap. Also, even though Alix isn’t the BEST for emotional support, she is a pretty supportive girlfriend and she’s not going to care about what people say too much.

How long would they last? Tbh, I think it’s the only Chloe ship that I think would last in it’s current state (canon). Which is probably really impressive when you think about it. I feel that most Chloe ships requires for Chloe herself to gradually change for them to get to that “connection/romantic” point, but with Alix, it’s a bit different. I just think Alix has her own way to match Chloe’s “energy”. I’m not saying that the other characters have weak spines or anything, you know lol I also imagine them having a long distant relationship.

❤️ What is your favorite line that you've written in a fic?

I'm not great at remembering individual lines from things unless they're super important. I can remember scenes but lines just escape me.

That being said, I skimmed through My Head is an Animal to refresh my brain and fell in love with this line all over again:

“You don’t just love me because I’m a Sabrewing. I’m a Sabrewing because you love me.”

And you know what it just hits so hard. This was at the point where Violet was coming to terms with being aromantic and worrying about not loving people enough and then Lena hits her with this. How did this come from my brain. I am not clever enough to write this.

✨ Out of the comments you've received on your fics, what are two or three of your favorites?

Obligatory I love every single comment I ever get. I could never single out anybody in particular because y'all are so sweet and tumblr would not allow me to post 37 screenshots.

But, I'm gonna shout out one genre of comment I got over a year ago now. My first crack at writing fics was when Weblena Week came around in 2022 because hey why not. Originally the idea was seven loosely-related one-shots for seven days. Except one of the prompts became super fleshed out way more than the other ideas, and I ended up running with a seven-chapter idea on just one of the prompts instead. It became Lena's Groundhog Day.

I got like three or four of the seven planned chapters done by the time Weblena Week hit, and once I ran out of those I missed a day, and then two, and then the rest of the week, and then the month. And I was like "ah darn. well it was fun while it lasted."

I never really forgot about the story or tossed it aside or anything, but it just kinda trickled out like all of my other brief creative fixations. Autism moment. But then, I checked back on the site around a month or two later and...

(this is a nearly full-screen screenshot on my phone so hopefully it comes out at a reasonable size on the post if not then oh well)

Note the timestamps. People coming in and saying "hey, just letting you know, I liked this." Even though I hadn't posted in a long time and missed the intended window by weeks at that point. It felt really good, not only to come back to that after almost sorta dropping it altogether, but also it just really validated my efforts to even post my writing in the first place.

I'm the opposite of an outgoing, 'hey come look at this thing I did' kind of person. So to see that kind of support was amazing and I'll always be grateful for it. It's one of the reasons why I'm still doing the whole writing funny ducks thing, because of the fine folks on the other side of this computer screen. <3

💕 What is your favorite fic that you've written?

My Head is an Animal is the one that means the most to me personally for probably obvious reasons. But also, I consider Lena's Groundhog Day to be a big step for me in terms of just getting my writing out there for the first time in the history of ever. Plus all the stuff I said up top. So it really depends on your criteria. I'm very proud of both for different reasons.
