“ i swear to god, ” his voice is stern, though holds a semblance of playfulness, relaying through the faint smirk that's GHOSTING his lips. “ if you mess up my hair, i will never stop kicking you, so long as you’re living ... maybe even in death. we’ll see how ghost-me feels about holding a grudge. ”

Perspective (Chap 1)
What else are you supposed to do when your whole world was ripped from your grasp in a snap?
Word count: 2.4 k
Genre: angst
A/N: Well this is my first time writing again in about six years. I don’t know what direction I have intended for this, but I have a general idea. My other thing is, I don’t know how long this is going to end up. Personally, I like to write with as much detail as possible. I also have a habit of starting stories and not finishing them. So wish me luck! Once I introduce characters and have more of the plot developed, I’ll add a preview summary and what not. Please let me know how I’m doing, but please be kind. This is the first time I’m actually sharing any of my work. I’ll also be moving this to AO3 once I can sign on there.
——————————-
“Hey, are you okay?” Namjoon whispered to me as he waved in my face.
“Yeah. Sorry. I’m good.” I snapped back from my thoughts.
“Are you sure? You were pretty spaced out kid.” He had his arms crossed at this point.
Namjoon had decided to take me out for coffee after the past few months I’ve endured. Joon is one of my older brothers. Out of the three of them, he’s definitely the one I’m closest to. It’s not that Seokjin and Taehyung were absent from my life or anything. Joon just always knew how to read me best since we were little.
“You’re thinking about him again aren’t you?” He said with a tinge of worry in his voice.
“It’s kind of hard to not to. Everything reminds me of him.” I sighed and stirred my latte slowly.
Sehyun and I were together for nearly four years. I thought he was the one, you know? We had met during our freshman year of college. Everything seemed perfect. Maybe that’s where I messed up? Perfect is always too good to be true.
Sehyun was like a character from a movie. He was definitely a sight to see. From his shaggy dark hair to his brown eyes, his built body to his heart melting smiles. Everything about him was something to love. His personality was also a plus as well. He was intellectual, charismatic, and charming. Back in high school, he was the varsity football captain and his senior class president. When I say everybody loved him, I mean everybody loved him. He came from a wealthy family. His parents were in the engineering business with a firm of their own. He’s studying engineering and I so happened to be a business major. It was automatically assumed that the two of us would be taking over the company later down the road. From what I gathered, his parents loved me as much as I loved them. They supported us together every minute of every day. I always thought to myself, ‘how did I get so lucky to have him?’ I’m just this average girl over here dating this perfect ten out of ten.
The relationship was great; at least I thought it was. We always knew how to balance our own personal lives and most importantly, our life together. We allowed each other to pursue our own things while still supporting each other. He pushed me to be the best possible version of myself and I pushed him in the same way. We always strived for more together. We never fought or anything. We had a good chunk of our future planned together as well. After he and I both finished college, we were supposed to travel the world together as a celebratory trip. The city we were going to move to in order to expand the company was picked out. The house had been envisioned. The wedding, the kids, the life, everything was thought of. What could have possibly gone wrong?
---------------------------
“I’m coming over.” Sehyun said sternly into the phone.
“But I’m not home right now.” I answered back as I was driving to my apartment.
“I’ll wait here for you then.” He said before he hung up.
Every possible scenario started to flood my head as I drove my way home. I should try and stay optimistic. Sehyun had always kept me on my toes and that’s what kept the spice in our relationship. Every week or so, he had a surprise for me on the weekends after our work weeks. We’d take turns planning out date nights and weekend getaways. We always had something new to do or we’d revisit our favorite past plans.
I was fumbling with my keys trying to get into my place. As I finally got my key in, the door opened for me before I could even turn the knob. Sehyun stood before me and looked like a wreck.
“Babe, what’s the matter?” I asked as I stepped in and dropped my belongings on the front table.
“We can’t do this anymore.” He said as he held my hand. My whole heart sunk to my stomach.
“What do you mean?” I tried to move my hand from his, but he’d always been stronger than me. Sehyun was leading me to the couch. I looked behind it and I saw a box of his belongings packed and ready to go. I plopped myself down in defeat. He hadn’t even started to explain himself yet and I already felt the tears running down my face. Sehyun crouched down and held both of my hands.
“I am so sorry.” He started off with. I wanted to ask for what, but I couldn’t even get the words out myself.
“I don’t know if I love you anymore. I mean, I don’t know if I’m still in love with you anymore.” He said as he held his head down.
“You’re lying.” I whispered back. I know him all too well. He can’t look anyone in the eye when he’s lying.
“Don’t make this any harder than it has to be please.” He said back faintly.
“Then look me in the eye and tell me you’re not in love with me anymore.” My grip on his hands got stronger as my voice started to break. He looked up and I could see the pain in his eyes.
“I’m. I’m not. I’m not in.” He couldn’t even finish his sentence.
“I told you you’re lying.” I dropped one of his hands to cup his cheek.
“Jagiya, please. Just believe me.” The tears in his eyes were beginning to rip me to shreds.
“Then just tell me the truth. I think I’m worth the truth.” I begged him.
“I can’t.” He cried as his hand met mine on his face.
“I’m not letting you just walk out of my house and my life like this Sehyun. I need the truth.” He sighed heavily as he stood up and pulled away from my grasp.
“You’re not going to like what I have to say.” He wasn’t far away from me physically as he stood by my back door, but I could feel him getting further from me emotionally. A heavy sigh was heard from Sehyun as he looked back to see me watching him waiting to hear what he had to say. A few moments later, he finally collected himself enough to explain.
“A couple months ago, my parents drew up a business plan to merge with another major company.” My heart instinctively started to race afraid of where this was going. I don’t even know what I’m feeling anymore.
“They have a daughter who is a year younger than I am. Both our parents set us up on a date without telling us.” He gulped before he paused to rub his forehead.
“We were just getting to know each other since our families would be business partners. Then drink after drink came. Next thing you know, I’m waking up in –“ I cut him off before he could give any more details. I already knew what he had to say considering our first date went in the same direction.
“Was she worth it?” Silence fell over the two of us as he looked away from me. That stung for him to hear.
“Y/N. You know you’ve always been my whole world since you came into it. Every major decision, I have you in mind.” It took him a second to get something out of his mouth.
“You didn’t answer me. Was she worth it?” I repeated myself calmly.
“Of course not, but this isn’t my decision.” He answered and I felt my blood begin to boil.
“What do you mean it’s not your decision?” I stood up ready to slap him across the face. The amount of anger building inside of me was taking over the amount of hurt I felt inside.
“My parents are making me stay with her because she’s pregnant. I was going to tell you about her after I worked things out with my parents, but there’s no fighting them on this.” He started to cry again.
“Why are your parents making decisions for you? Last time I checked you were an adult.” I wanted to raise my voice at him, but I saw how much he was hurting being in this situation. He sat down on the couch this time as I paced in disbelief.
“Y/N. Come on. You know the position my parents are in. It would hurt the company so much if it got out that the future owner knocked up someone and left her to raise the kid on their own.” He tried to explain.
“Where does this leave me? I’ve already been attending your parents’ events with you. I just disappear from your side and you tote around this new girl?” I couldn’t even look at Sehyun anymore.
“I want you by my side. Not her.” Sehyun said in an attempt to avoid my question.
“You’re not going to put up a fight for me? What happened to our future? What happened to everything we had planned out?” I sat down on the sofa across from him as I started to cry again.
“I tried. Believe me I tried.” Not only was his voice broken, he was broken.
“Just get your stuff and go already.” I said as strong as I could. It was taking every ounce in my body to not break down. Sehyun had nothing left to say. He grabbed his box and showed himself the door. Just as he was about to walk out, I suddenly had one thing left in me to say.
“You’re a coward, Sehyun.” It came out of me so cold and harsh, it could seriously kill someone. I knew it did just that to him because he stopped in his tracks. It was the final blow to the back that I needed to do. He looked back at me with his blood shot eyes one last time.
“Just know I love you, Y/N.” And just like that, he was gone.
------------------------------------------------
“Y/N, I know everything reminds you of him, but you keep putting yourself into that situation. It’s as if you’re making no effort to move on.” Joon said as he rubbed my shoulder.
“What can I say? I like to set myself up.” I shrugged my shoulders as I stated what he and I already knew.
“You’re better than that. I hate seeing you hurting like this.” He was right.
I am better than this, but what else do you do when your whole world was ripped from your grasp in a snap? Four years of my life down the drain for what, a contract and more money? Sehyun’s mom used to tell me all the time how excited she was to have me as her daughter-in-law. She was eager to start our wedding planning with me, but Sehyun and I knew it would be best for us to finish school before we got married. I guess we waited a little too long for his parents’ liking.
“You know I cope in weird ways. For example, I could definitely go a drink tonight. Maybe fifty drinks? Who knows? I may finally get over everything if I drink that much.” Although Joon is older than I am, I’m never afraid to get sarcastic with him. It was our big sibling, little sibling thing.
“Yeah, cause you’ll die of alcohol poisoning. I’m not letting you drink that much.” His eyes were big with a concerned gaze locked on me.
“I’m kidding. Well not kidding about drinking, but kidding about drinking that much.” I punched him lightly in the arm and he loosened up a bit.
“I’ll get in touch with Jin and Tae. I’m sure they’d love to join us. Why don’t you invite some of your friends too?” Joon asked as he pulled his phone from his duffle.
“You mean the team?” I asked with some confusion in my voice. Joon knew I was on a dance team, but he never willingly invited them to hang out. They just kind of show up to places unannounced once they know my plans.
“Just the three you hang out with all the time. What are their names again? Jungwoo, Taemin, and Hyunseok?” I rolled my eyes at him. I know he knows their names, but Joon plays a lot.
“Try Jungkook, Jimin, and Hoseok.” I corrected him.
“Yeah. Those three! Invite them. I know you need the extra company.” Joon was still buried in his phone.
“Whatever. We should get going though. I have class in thirty minutes.” I said as I began to pack up my belongings.
“I’m just going to bring our plates and stuff up.” I said while I quickly turned around and attempted to make my way to the counter. I came to a halt as I crashed into something. I immediately look down and watch the plates shatter onto the ground. I’m also pretty sure I may have dumped my whole drink onto whatever I hit.
“You’ve got to be fucking kidding me!” This guy sighs as he pulls his headphones from his ears. Just my luck, I’d hit a douche bag. The whole café is staring at us now. From the corner of my eye, I see Joon trying not to laugh.
“I’m so sorry!” I yell as I try to help him clean up.
“Don’t worry about it. Accidents happen.” He sighed before he went down and started gathering the shattered plates.
“For someone who just had coffee poured on them, you’re pretty calm.” I had to pause for a second. I know I’d be furious at whoever dumps coffee on me.
“Why waste your energy on being mad when it’ll be over in a few minutes?” I watched him as he stood up, handed the employee what he collected, and made his way out the door.
“Do you know him?” Joon came up next to me and muttered.
“I was going to ask you the same thing.” I said slowly still trying to process everything that just happened.
“He’s here pretty often, but doesn’t say much though.” The employee interrupted. I’m here often as well, but how come I’ve never seen this guy before?
