Berdly has tried to bully/intimidate his classmates before. However, he’d either get ignored, get bullied back or, Kris’s case, becomes friendly with them because he gave up. Nothing he did ever worked.

… And then the new student arrived.

The new student was a very sensitive girl who wears her heart on her sleeve. This made her an easy target. An easy target Berdly decided to hit.

Again and again and again and again. Waiting for her to snap.

One day… She finally did.

This was originally Berdly’s plan but he and Noelle wasn’t really prepared for that word. So, they both just focused on spelling the word. One did. The other couldn't.

I like to imagine that one of the 'diverging points' for the timeline in teammate swap is the Spelling Bee, wherein she still struggles to spell December, but Berdly swallows his pride and intentionally misspells it. This leads to a new word being chosen and Noelle winning.

dess holiday… TWO!!!

and now the explanation :

“honestly the “dess au verse” section of the “dess goes through the wringer for the shits and giggles” part of this au isn’t that important so i think i can talk about it without major spoilers….

the multiple dess (plural) aren’t really tangible and they aren’t really… real?? (kinda??) they’re usually shown on screens in gaster’s lab (the bunker). dess (main) goes through an existential crisis after finding out that there’s multiple universes…

multiple versions of her friends… family… and her sister. and some of them have better lives than the ones they both have now. And that’s when other dess (multiple) come in!

This specific dess is based on the average dess design (but like… bootlegged which is why she’s blue and not red). She’s a younger version who has a better relationship with her sister. This one is mainly meant to poke at dess’s nostalgia. For a better more simplier time…

A better time where she had her friends and family… and more importantly : noelle. Where everything was nice and peaceful…

(Man it always goes back to nostalgia i wasn’t even doing it on purpose this time… 😒)

anyways this is just the cherry on the crap sundae that dess gets handed in this au. It’s not as important as the “dess gets injected with bootlegged Determination Juice and it ruins her insides permanently” thing (aka the main thing…….) though 😋

Susie moved away from her friends (and 2nd family) in Hometown, had a hard time making friends in her new town, finally found a friend online then the friend suddenly stopped replying to her (and she’d meet them in the worst way possible and wouldn’t even know it was them) and her parents are usually working and aren’t home most of the time.

So…the scene where Lancer had to keep the lightners in the dungeon would go as well or even “better” than the og scene…

I doubt Susie would constantly hit Lancer like the original Susie did (it seems VERY out of character for her) but I wouldn’t be shocked if she did attempt to hurt him out of frustration. But because she didn’t have a good hold of her powers at the time, she’d probably hurt herself in the process. (Ralsei would probably heal her in the elevator).

before chap 1, berdly bullies susie for weeks, almost gets his ass kicked and was so terrified that he never really bullied anyone like that again. and nobody even knew berdly was doing that to her since he didn’t want to “get caught” and she didn’t want to tell anyone

I dunno if I said this already, but Noelle and Berdly were each other's only friend when they were younger. this kind of changed when dess disappeared and they got closer to Kris. Though... Noelle would hesitate to call Kris an actual friend. (Berdly does, even though the only time they truly hang out is playing games... online only)

Noelle doesn’t like Ralsei because he reminds her of her previous artificial self. Seeing someone be so polite and proper like that and it’s not an act, it makes her angry. It makes her angry because she couldn’t be like that. She tried so hard to be the polite, smart daughter that her parents deserve. She just…can’t. She can’t be. She hates acting this way. She feels like she HAS to. …Doesn’t everyone want a kid like that? A kid who doesn’t cause trouble for others? …A kid who doesn’t cause trouble for themself? A normal, down to earth and intelligent daughter?

Berdly doesn’t like Ralsei because Ralsei gives him gay thoughts and he doesn’t like that.

honestly noelle may not even recognize dess at first�� that’s how much she changed.
