Ghostface spread his arms in a friendly gesture. It was thrilling to be so close to the elusive Huntress. Some of the stories about her strained belief but seeing her, he was beginning to believe. Her gaze on him felt like being sighted by a wild beast. His pulse quickened as he took another careful step forward.

Time: Post plot drop stuff  Location: Outside the Amaranthus House Characters: @hazalseren​ & @mortalisla​​

Using all the records at her disposal she had long ago learned of Hazal’s place in the Amaranthus coven. And then The Eye had been informed of what had happened that night of Lupercalia, so Isla had been heartbroken in assuming that Hazal had died with the rest of them. When she learned she hadn’t, she’d been quick to leave her home with Evan in tow. Isla knew what it felt like to lose your family. Hazal had been there for her, even knowing she was just some single mother who would always be a handful with her son - she still went out of her way to take care of them. After learning about Dahvy and the truth of her son’s heritage, perhaps Isla was too emotional, perhaps too reckless. But she’d been hiding what she knew for months about the witch and it was time Hazal knew. Otherwise, she would not be able to be there for her the way Hazal had been there for her.

She knocked on the door of the coven’s home, knowing she’d never done that before, knowing that Hazal wouldn’t have known she knew it was her home. Isla waited. And when the door opened, she stood there with Evan in his pram beside her. “Hazal... I know what happened. I wanted to see if you were okay.”

Her fractured greeting, punctuated by her yawn, gave him pause and a splash of guilt. He winced and rubbed his face, peering reluctantly at the clock on his wall.

    “Oh, shoot, I didn’t realise the time! Sorry for waking you, Lucy!”

While he briefly considered the idea of quickly dismissing the call so she could go back to sleep, he ultimately decided that there would be no point to that. She was awake already anyway and it had been a little while since their last catch up. He listened to her (now rather familiar) little rant about his sleep schedule, smiling fondly as he tapped his fingers against his desk and leaned back in his chair. She did have a good point, he knew it, yet he’d never been able to slip into the pattern most people had.

Deciding to side step her questioning of his activities, he instead focused on the other topic she brought up. Dreams were always fun to discuss.

   “Oh yeah? What happened? Were you a bunny rabbit in this one again?”

"And, uh, not filling them out doesn’t really slide when you’re… well, you know." Hinata coughs to fill the quiet. “Besides, since I’ve got the kids and they’re still developing, not to mention how resistant Yukiko is being, I’ve always got at least three paragraphs on my logs.”

"Not every detail matters," Mizuki reminds. "I know it's nice to keep track of everything that happens to the kids, but it's also better to only note down what matters. I get that your brain works quicker than mine, but simpler notes wouldn't hurt anyone. I keep a separate journal for things that aren't vital to recovery. Sometimes a classmate's favorite color slips while dumping."

In the distance, Mizuki hears the sound of the two kids running around. She'll just dig out the candy on her own later on. Leave a note... play a game. Valentine's is coming up, so she supposes she can sign off as cupid. She wonders if Keiko would play along... oh well.

"If the kids ever become too much you can transfer them to me. I know you're swarmed with way more than I am." Mizuki hums, staring at the edge of the ocean, cracking her wrists. "Besides, kids are easier than adults sometimes. Therapy with kids can be all sorts of fun things, you know? I had a patient during hope's peak who only revealed things when drawing. There was also..." Mizuki trails off. No. Not Kamukura. That didn't count. "another kid who used to only play music during our sessions. It was fun."

Mizuki pauses for a moment. "You know, you can always come in for a session too. I think the two of us also need our own therapist. It's been hell on earth ever since Gekkogahara died. I get that she was a robot, but at least there was a third." Mizuki glances at her nails. They're black again. "Right, do we still have antibiotics left?"

He’s been clicking the pen in his hand at 120 BPM for the past three minutes and forty-seven seconds. His eyes were pointed at the log in front of him, but they were glazed over, mind currently anywhere but the task at hand. He blinks once, twice, then groans, dropping the pen to press his face into his hands. This shouldn’t be hard. It should be so easy it’s almost laughable.

Sighing heavily, he stands from his desk, leaving his cottage to take a walk. The evening air is starting to cool down, the slight breeze helping distract him. He needed a clear head, that’s all. Just needed a moment to breathe, a moment where he didn’t have to run his thoughts through one of his countless talents in order to get something legible down. Absentmindedly, he rubs the ring of scarred flesh around his right wrist. It had faded quite a bit by now, but it still remained. He’d long since abandoned trying to cover them up. Wearing long sleeves in a tropical climate was hell.

As if brushing his fingertips against the markings had summoned her, he spotted Mizuki ahead, probably out on a walk herself. It was a weekend, after all. She tended to spend her time off relatively isolated unless some event was being held. This was actually a perfect opportunity for him. He’s been meaning to check in with her today, but ended up sidetracked at every turn. Better late than never, he supposed, speeding up to a light jog to catch up with her.

“Mizuki-chan!” He calls out as he approaches, slowing down to match her pace once he’s caught up. “Hey. Haven’t seen you today. Up to anything?”
