“i don't get this insistence of yours to stay up”

chiori stared at you, her gaze a mix of something quizzical yet slightly irate.

she wasn’t exactly mad, but chiori did prioritize being able to get a proper rest especially after a long day - something you could call her a hypocrite for due to her repeated behaviour of staying late at the boutique. yet here she was, standing by your side as you both gazed out onto fontaine.

because in all honesty, chiori would always do what you asked of her. admittedly occasionally with limited complaints and blunt remarks, but she would do it nonetheless.

the sun had set a while ago, small man-made lights and the gentle glow of the moon were all that illuminated the views.

you hummed, beginning to talk about something charlotte had told you was becoming increasingly more popular talk among couples in participating facing the new year. chiori didn't often like spending time on explanations yet she happily listened to whatever you had to say.

she had come to accept the fact that she was going to indulge in your little idea long ago and nothing would change her mind.

so she simply sighed, “at least keep yourself warm until we head inside then”

chiori paused for a moment, shifting her gaze fully onto your form. you were donned in one of the many outfits she had designed and crafted just for you - at this point, your wardrobe consisted more of outfits that chiori made for you than anything else.

she smiled softly. you truly were her best muse.

you could feel her gaze on you and so you looked over. just in time to watch as her eyes slightly widened at being caught before immediately looking away.

it was nearly time, the final day of the year was slowly drawing to a close. very soon it would be a brand new year.- another year to be spent alongside your lover who you cherished dearly.

even though most days you never wanted your time with chiori to end, at the moment you were counting down the very seconds to the minute it became new years.

a new year meant a time for new memories to be made with her - and you were very positive that she felt the same, chiori was always blunt and straightforward so it was quite easy to know just how she felt.

although chiori knew that she couldn't possibly put into words just how much you truly meant to her.

and as your mental countdown finished, you turned to face her before calling her name. and immediately she turned to face you, her attention solely on you. without warning, you leaned forward and placed a gentle kiss on her lips.

chiori seemed shocked for a second about the abruptness but she quickly melted into it, very quickly returning it with the same gentle passion carried in yours.

she found herself subconsciously seeking out your hand to hold, and when she found it, she carefully interlocked her fingers with yours before finally pulling away from the show of affection.

a scoff escaped her, “your a tease”

you simply smiled in response as chiori gave you a shorter kiss.

it was thought that a shared kiss between lovers at midnight for new years was a way of bringing luck to them. but you were both sure that you would have many happy years together in the future.

𝅘𝅥𝅯 During the times when Furina was an Archon, she was forced to uphold her arrogant personality like her people wanted and expected out of a god. However when she met [y/n].. It was different.

𝅘𝅥𝅯 [Y/n] was a part of Chioriya Boutique who worked under Chiori to help her produce outfits and fetch materials. It wasn't often they get to see the Hydro Archon, but when they do, [y/n] had always treated her like a normal fontainian and didn't flounder whenever she was near them. Not even caring that she was an Archon.

𝅘𝅥𝅯 This made Furina want to act selfishly and make [y/n] hers. However, due to her circumstances of needing to play her role. She was unable to make the relationship into a romantic one.

𝅘𝅥𝅯 When she found out the prophecy was false and that she could stop pretending as an Archon. She quickly went into hiding, afraid of what you'll think of her being a 'fake' god.

[Y/n] was currently near the Opera Epiclese. Although fontaine had just flooded, and you should probably get home before catching a cold. They decided to look for her.

[Y/n] checked every place, being the Opera where trials are usually held, to even the place she resided in.

[Y/n] had no choice but to request and acquire help from the ludex to inquire help of where their dear friend could be.

..Only to find out she had moved out, after a week of searching for her in fontaine.

Now [y/n] was standing in front of one of the most ordinary buildings that is in front of the blacksmith. Though [y/n] thought they should probably get curtains for her, they could see her entire home from outside..

"Furina, I know you're not sleeping.."

The door slowly opened, revealing a short white-haired girl dressed in blue and black. Furina looked oddly embarrassed and just kept hands at her back, before looking at [y/n] with a more confident pose.

"[Y-Y/n]! Fancy meeting you here aha..."

"Furina.. I know you've been actively avoiding me, since I was searching for you for a week."

"O-oh really? I guess we kept missing each other-"

"You're a terrible liar.. Though I'm glad you're looking fine. Have you been eating and resting well?"

'They.. were worried about me? Even after I lied to them- no, everyone, about being an archon..'

"Uhm yeah! I've been making macaroni's to eat."

"Just 'macaroni'?"

"Yeah! With different sauces of course.."

[Y/n] sighed, before taking her hand and dragging her out of her house.

"[Y/n]?! Where are you taking me?"

"To a restaurant of course, it'll be my treat since I've received my paycheck."

[Y/n] suddenly felt a tug, looking back, seeing that Furina had stopped. Before [y/n] could ask her why she stopped, she posed a question.

"..Why are you being so nice to me? I lied to you about being an archon.. I can't even give you anything in return now.."

"Is it not obvious? I always see you as a friend. Not an archon, now come on, eating macaroni every day isn't healthy!"

Furina's eyes widden a bit before regaining their composure. That was probably the reason why she fell in love with you.

'Oh right.. Since I'm now a regular human, I can marry [y/n]!'

"Hey [y/n]? Can I tell you something?"

"Hm? What is it?"

"I-"

Furina choked on her voice.

"I-it's nothing. I just wanted to tell you thank you.. And that I appreciate you."

'It's fine.. Marry [y/n]? You're such a fool Furina, you should be just be content with being friends with [y/n]. They deserve someone better than a person who lied about being an archon.'

"I'm glad I met you Furina"
