"Hyuk. What do you think of Grim Reapers?"

   Grim Reapers? Is this person pulling his leg? It almost seems like this is an opening to ask about the moniker he’s been given within the precinct --- one he unconsciously acquired when carving a path in his career. Sobriquet started as some random whisper shared between a group of people before it grew bigger and bigger, to the point where different divisions in the field already know about it. 

   The Grim Reaper of the Violent Crimes Unit. That’s Lee Hyuk, that’s one of the first things colleagues tend to mention when he comes into the scene; he’s no fool to the rumors and mumbles even if he pretends to be oblivious about them. 

   He guesses it fits, at times. Death has followed him more than once; he’s lost precious people during his lifetime and he’s also seen demise coming in different forms due to his job. However, instead of arriving with a scythe or whatever tools grim reapers might use these days in fictional worlds (because he can’t say they’re real --- he hasn’t seen one; don’t believe it until you see it, right?), he comes with justice in both hands and tongue. He can’t guide souls to the afterlife, but at least he can give them the fairness they deserve and a semblance of peace to their families and close ones. 

“What is there to think? If this is going to lead to some joke about me and that nickname everyone is aware of, then I suggest you leave it there. I’m not in the mood for this.” 

A pause.

“Why? Do you think I’m one? A Grim Reaper? I could be, what’s your name? So I can say it three times if you keep being annoying.”
