names hold power. perseus, the destroyer. percy, the hero.

the gods refer to percy as perseus, the name connects him to the gods through his namesake, while mortals refer to him as percy. This duality reflects the two halves of his identity as a demigod - half god, half mortal. it's part of the reason why percy loathes being called perseus. he doesn't fully side with the gods, he doesn't want to be associated with them. percy isn't perseus, a namesake he feels constantly inferior to. yet the gods fear perseus, to some degree. perseus does not over power an olympian, sure, but perseus means the avenger, the destroyer. gods knew of the great prophecy way before perseus. ' Olympus to preserve or raze ' a demigod that was not supposed to be born, in a universe where names hold power, named the destroyer? it is not far fetched for the gods to be at least wary of perseus, it’s shown in their actions. every year as they inch closer and closer to perseus' 16th birthday, the gods wanted to kill him. that is fear. percy’s identity, rooted in being sally jackson’s son, rather than the son of poseidon, is what connects him to his mortality. while the gods are humanised, they lack the fundamentals of humanity. percy is a tool to remind them of the mortality of demigods. the experiences percy had growing up built the character of his identity. the abuse he endured, the love he was given by sally. these experiences the gods will never experience is what makes percy - percy and not perseus. now, there are instances where percy does go by perseus. when his memories were erased by hera. lupa only referred to percy as perseus so it makes sense that percy would go by perseus during that timeframe in heroes of olympus - he doesn't know better. he is missing the memories that create percy. in verses where percy is more connected with the gods such as his prince of the seas verse and patron god of heroes verse - percy does go by perseus. in his prince of the seas verse, percy is born as a minor olympian, entirely disconnected from human experiences. then for his patron god of heroes verse, where he accepts godhood at the end of the last olympian, he starts off still going by percy but over time, he begins to forget his humanity as his loved ones eventually die off. its after the death of annabeth does percy begin to fully accept the identity of perseus. in percy's kronos verse, percy fully accepts being perseus the moment he joins the titan army. the name loses its association to the gods and rather the meaning of his name. perseus is the destroyer and the avenger. he will destroy olympus to avenge his mother. ultimately, the disconnect between percy and perseus is something i always thought was overlooked. i personally believe that it highlights the conflicting realms of being a demigod by showing how percy struggles to balance his identity. percy embodies both the destructive power of the gods and the compassionate flawed humanity.

irl update.     for those who know a little about the situation, just want to give y’all a little update. im still working on getting a lawyer, however, i did manage to find some temporary housing. it sucks that after 8 years of being homeless, im being thrown back into it but im doing okay so far. i have a few plans for moving forward and if i do end up being fully kicked out, i will most likely be moving to germany, which is exciting.   i appreciate everyone for the support. words cannot express how much it means to me. i love each and every one of ya. 

as for here, i won’t have my own space for my desktop so i won’t be writing on here like at all. discord is of course open to any mutual. i might explore writing via discord but we will see. so yeah hiatus until i get my life figured out. ill be mobile bound so feel free to hit my dms up and if you want, my personal is @heavenlyblues​

Nico wore a pair of black board shorts and a black t-shirt, his skin somehow looking all the paler in the hot summer sun. And he was not ready.

He didn’t know how to swim, and ever since learning about who his dad was, he wasn’t exactly incentivized to learn how. But Percy had found out, so now Nico found himself at the water’s edge, about ready to get some swim lessons. “I’m going to drown,” he said, not at all confident how this was going to go.

Family means everything to Percy. It is his main driving force - his fatal flaw after all.

However, the concept of family evolved over time. Growing up, Percy was very adamant about blood family being the most important thing as opposed to his household being family. Percy only had Sally in his corner, she was blood family so it made sense to him. It also served as a means to separate the goodness of Sally from the abuse of Gabe. Gabe wasn't family, wasn't blood. Percy refused to call Gabe his dad and, while Sally never forced Percy too, it caused countless fights between Gabe and Percy.

When Percy met Grover for the first time was when Percy's idea of family began to shift. Percy views Grover as a brother he never really had and the idea of blood doesn't mean family sort of grew on Percy.

Then the final evolution - camp half-blood. A place that finally felt like home with people that he could call family. Percy cares about every camper. Percy would gladly die to protect his family - he would die for camp.

i wouldn't say i had like a single best rp experience but rather a collection of them. thanks to the rpc i have so many years long friends that i adore. hell my best friend of like six years i met through the rpc

throughout     the     events     of     his     first     summer     at     camp     half    -    blood,     during     his     quest     to     catch     the     lightning     thief,     percy     refused     to     use     and     resented     anything     related     to     poseidon.     he     was     battling     his     emotions     of     realizing     everything     bad     that     has     ever     happened     him     was     caused     by     poseidon.     He     was     abused,     and     more     importantly     his     mother     was     abused,     for     a     majority     of     his     life     because     he     was     the     son     of     poseidon.     he     grew     up     fatherless     because     poseidon     left     him

furthermore,     this     is     especially     true     for     percy's     kronos     verse     where     sally     died     protecting     percy     and     trying     to     get     him     to     camp     half    -    blood.     she     died     at     the     hands     of     asterion,     the     minotaur.     the     same     minotaur     created     in     ancient     greece     by     no     other     than     poseidon.     king     minos     had     prayed     for     a     sign     of     blessing     by     poseidon     so     poseidon     sent     a     white     bull.     when     king     minos     did     not     kill     the     bull     for     poseidon,     the     sea     god     cursed     minos'     wife,     pasiphaë,     to     fall     in     love     with     the     white     bull     and     thus     creating     the     minotaur

in     percy's     eyes,     poseidon     killed     his     mother,     this     is     his     primary     motive     in     joining     luke     and     acting     as     a     spy     of     kronos

anger     and     percy     is     complicated.     his     relationship     with     his     anger     is     complicated.     percy     feels     emotions     very     intensely     yet     growing     up, he     didn't     have     many outlets     to     express     his     anger.     until he     got     to     camp     half    -    blood     where     he     used     training     as     his     main     outlet     of     anger.     overall,     he     doesn't     like     those     close     to     him     see     him     dealing     with     negative     emotions         (         anger,     depression,     anxiety     attacks,     etc.         )         so     he     would     go     silent     or     remove     himself.     percy     has     a     problem     internalizing     too     much.     however,     after     escaping     tartarus,     he     relapsed     of     sorts,     his     anger     consumed     him.     he     would     lash     out     more     often,     at     the     gods,     at     those     around     him.     be     more     aggressive     during     training.      he     approached     chiron     to     help     him     deal     with     his     emotions. he     eventually     got     an     understanding     of     his     anger.     his     anger     kept     him     alive     for     a     while,     aided     him     in     battle.     he     views     his     anger     not     at     completely     negative.     his     anger     at     the     gods     was     what     gave     chb     reforms,     helped     saved     lives.     he     went     from     the     abused     boy     that     would     yell     and     try     to     fight     anyone     to     being     able     to     just     remove     himself     from     the     situation     and     handle     his     anger     through     chilling     by     the     lake,     through     sword     fighting,     or     talking     to     someone.
