➥ Booberry Cream Pie

What you will need:

➟ 1 1/2 cup Blueberries ➟ 1 cup Blackberries ➟ 2 cups Banana Cream OR Vanilla Pudding* ➟ 1 whole container Whipped Cream* ➟ Mint Sprig, or a few extra berries for garnish ➟ Food Dye (optional) ➟ 1 Pie Crust* (can be homemade or store bought)

What to do:

➟ Make your favored pudding or empty out a few premade servings into a bowl. ➟ Blend berries together - strain out some of the bigger chunks (unless you'd prefer to keep them in, up to you) - then slowly stir them into the pudding. ➟ Fold in 1/4 of the container of whipped cream, repeat this step until container is empty and mixture is thoroughly blended. ➟ Mix in 2-3 drops of blue food dye (or red; or none at all; i just like blue for this) - it should be a light-medium color. ➟ Pour into prepared crust. ➟ Garnish with mint and/or berries however you like.

*for this recipe, I used a half and half mix of the two *you can use any whipped cream, sugar free, dairy, free doesn't matter *i used a premade chocolate-walnut crust, but this is up to preference

Are we dealing with alchemists looking for The Philosopher's Stone?

(I will be referencing partially to the ARG, most importantly to the so called Klaus sheet that has german version on categories the OIAR team is using, and some light spoiler to The Magnus Archives, so beware).

We're four episodes in and cross-referencing each episode so far, there seems to be few things that connect most of them:

an orchestrator

a medium

an obsession

a transformation

Each episode so far mentions some type of third party being involved in the incident: Harriet Winstead mentions a "consultant" that was supposed to help her see Arthur, RedCanary mentions getting harrased by an anonymous stalker, Daria commissions Ink5oul for a tattoo, Dr Samuel Webber mentions seeing his dead wife "Maddie" who stops him from tampering with the transformation (could be a hallucination, but could also be somebody using his delirioum to impersonate her) and today we've got a mention of a "giftgiver" who gave The Violinist the Violin.

Additionally each incident mentions some type of specific medium the characters came into contact with: The Box, The Violin, The Ink (cross referenced in Klaus sheet from the ARG), The Garden (as in plants in the garden). The exception being the Harriet, but we don't know yet what "caused" ressurection of Arthur. This is important, because in TMA items and "mediums" weren't actually all that common, it was very often stressed that relics were medium for the fears to use directly (with people only doing their bidding), not to be handled by others as a medium.

Lastly each episode talks obsession and/or transformation and oh boy, let me tell you about bunch of guys historically obsessed with tranforming stuff through different mediums:

"It's not very suprising, alchemical symbols are everywhere throughout the podcast!" you might say. True, but let's take into consideration, what excactly is a goal of an alchemist? Well the answer is quite simple and there is actually three of them. The Three Goals of Alchemy are:

To turn base metals into noble ones

To discover the recipe for a Philosopher's Stone

To find the Elixir of Life that gives eternal youth and defies death

All of them refer to some type of recipie of method, so where are the recipies? Under our own noses. The recipies are the DPHW catalogue and the database Freddie is sending the incident reports to is an alchemical cookbook! Each entry is categorized something like that:

CAT$$$R&&#### - theme (specification) -/- subtheme [medium]

Some specifications:

$ - are a conbination of numbers 1, 2 and 3. They do not always appear in threes, sometimes it's just 3, sometimes 12 (as in 1 and 2) so forth. These has been widely theorized to be related to the The Tria Prima, a group of three materials which occupy a position of prominence in alchemy: Sulphur(🜍), Mercury(☿) and Salt(🜔) or as they are also characterized Soul, Mind and Body. If we assign each of them a number with 1 being Soul, 2 being Mind and 3 being body, they so far align with the main "components" of each incident or realms they deal in.

R - either appears or not, it was theorized this is a RANK and that previous files were simply misfiled by Sam, but to me it also could be REGIA as in Aqua Regia (🜆) where we are to assume the R was added to the previous element (Aqua (🜄) + Regia (R)). The meaning behind assigning some some incidents the rank of regia has yet to be explained though.

& - these are letters C, BC, B, AB, A and S signifying a rank (or rang in the Klaus sheet) . Lets ignore that S for a second, but they seem to be stages and half stages, well there can't possibly a concept of four stages in alchemy? Let me introduce you to the Magnum Opus (Great Work). Basically each alchemical project went through four stages: nigredo (black), albedo (white), citrinitas (yellow) and rubedo (red) with rubedo specifically signifying a great discovery was made and Magnum Opus was a success, but it does not necessairly mean an alchemical goal was reached.

To summarize, numbers one C-A signify stage of the project, with S, that appears once on mostly redacted cell in the Klaus sheet, signifying that not only the final stage was reached, but the project has been a success.

This could mean a finished Magnum Opus is out there, developed in the field of the Soul and related to the mysterous Mr. B.

# - these numbers are still a mystery, I do have some theories myself, but to summaries I think they are grades and some type of combination (I think it's either 9999, 0000 (as in all 10s) or perhaps 7777 (7 being the most important alchemical number)). Basically a specific combination could imply the specific discovery could be categorized as a Philosopher's Stone. What that could mean for the narrative? We will see, but I suspect it's an alchemical equivalent to an eldritch nuke in this universe.

Last thing to support my theory, the OIAR logo. The lion and the unicorn are obviously symbols for the United Kingdom, as this is a government office, and the words undearneath are "we will not falter" (probably reference to the paranormal incidents they deal with) the rest though?

Alchemical symbols for Salt, Mercucry and Sulphur are right there, all encompassed by an upside-down version of The Philosopher's Stone symbol; The Greatest Magnum Opus:

As to what the Magnum Opus are in TMAGP, each incident has an item associated with it, I noticed that the characters do not get corrupted by people directly this season, but through the use of items like ink, instruments, plants.

Mercurial Lavender Oil for the Sight - Reviewing my results

I’ll also describe the recipe and specifics under the cut

So, I’ve been using this oil on and off for about six months now (damn I thought less time had passed) and here are my thoughts on it!

For starters, I think my choices for the oil were a bit unusual: looking back, considering my goal is to hone my Sight — and I’m using this word very loosely — I wonder why I chose Mercury instead of the Moon. In a way, it makes some sense, but my experiences (or the particular way I’ve used the oil) seems to diverge from a general sharpening of psychic capacities, which was my initial objective, to a more time-limited flow of spiritual information, and thus, the oil has been a great ally in aiding my divination, and I have felt that there is a significant difference between my readings when I use it properly and when I don’t.

I’m not naturally sharp in any sort of psychic ability — save for that one time as a kid — so learning to divine has been like learning any other activity from scratch, and now I can say I’ve come to a point in which I’m satisfied with my level of divination and with my relationship with my Tarot. That’s why I was so shocked when I tested the oil out during a reading and it was the clearest I’ve read in all my years of hard work lol. I’m obviously not advocating for only using the oil and putting no effort in getting better at whatever you're doing.

Using the oil while I divine feels like, as I read the cards, the general pieces of information I would otherwise have to consciously connect and interpret, simply fall into place, as if I’m reading a letter and not colorful pictures. However, I have felt that awakening the Oil and requesting it’s help is essential for it’s usage, or it’ll just feel like not using anything.

In conclusion, this seems to really help the flow of information, as you’d expect from Mercurial magic, just not in the way I had envisioned. I also wonder if this can help the flow of magic itself, but that’s something I am yet to test.

Recipe

Materials: olive oil, lavender; sandalwood incense and some sort of drink as offerings.

When: Day and hour of Mercury.

How: lightly crush your lavender and, during the appropriate hour, light your incense, call for Mercury and make him a short prayer. Mine was along the lines of “Mercury, planet of paths, spirit of communication, come to me, and be present in this ritual, bless my work so in gratitude I will make offerings to you.” With your hands above the lavender, say something like “Lavender, I call for your strength and your spirit. May your power spread into the oil, and may it unlock my psychic potential. Thank you." Put the lavender inside whatever you’re using to store the final product and add the olive oil on top. Mix it as you pray: “Glorious Mercury, force that brings the information, bless this oil with your grandeur, and let it unlock my psychic potential. Lord of the roads, open my paths of communication with the spiritual world, tune my perception and make knowledge flow. Thank you. I thank the forces that were present to bless this ritual and strengthen my magic. Glory to you, dear spirits.” After that, offer the liquid and let the incense burn until finished. Keep the oil in a dark and cool place for a lunar cycle to steep before using it.

Several people have been asking this, actually, so I'll do a quick recap as well!

SO! I'll give a big ol' recap.

Note: Participation in the ARG is, as was mentioned, 18+.

There are three potential entry points for the ARG.

The first is an ad on the Rusty Quill/Magnus Protocol feed! The second is a series of billboards, the locations of which we discovered roughly a day before Alex J Newall posted about them on Twitter. The last is @strangehauntsuk, a blog on our own hellsite! They were discovered in that order.

The audio ad basically told us to email the Office of Incident Assessment and Response's HR department for a job application. Doing so yields an autoresponse which leads to the OIAR's website!

From there, things blow up CONSIDERABLY.

Depending on what you put in the object line of emails you send to the OIAR emails, you can get different responses, some of which have Cryptic German with the alchemic symbol for cobalt/alkali (🜶). The symbols are important. The German roughly translates to "Don't let [no pronoun here, could be it, or them, or...] through. It's important that we stay in control."

From the emails, we located a Youtube channel, plus a new page on the website!

So. The website. Okay. There's a LOT here. First off, we have a form that we, as of 22-09-2023, have yet to fill without resulting in a "this thing is broken" page. Oops! It's called a fr3-d1 form.

The general page indicate a fun timeline, including Other Companies the OIAR has worked with or is working with! Woo!

The careers page indicate two already filled positions (could be our protagonists, or could be some ARG characters! One of them is an IT person, whom we THINK is an ARG character, who may also be a TMagP character, we'll get back to that).

The Jobs Posting page (aka new page) is where it gets Funky. There's an alchemic symbol for air (🜁) at the end, plus a bunch of typos! The typos were one of two ways to get to a phone number. The other way was using some metadata on the images on the site.

Thus, we get to something new! A phone number! WOO! We call, and, lo and behold, ARG stuff. Robot voice. The robot voice tells us the phone will be repaired by September 22nd. (We broke the ARG at this point and ended up calling RQ staff. This is known as the Asterisk Incident. Please don't call RQ staff.)

We'll get back to the phone later.

Now, you'll recall I mentioned a Youtube channel. Of course, the only public video on there has something on it! If you look at the bottom right corner, you'll see two things. One, around 16s, a Mercury (☿) symbol will flash. We'll get back to that.

More notably, near the end of the video, there's a bunch of numbers, which are the IP address of a Newsgroup/UseNet server! Using something like Thunderbird allows you to connect to it and read about 70k words of Germain emails/forum posts. Woo!

Okay. Newsgroup lore. The group is a bunch of defectors from the DDR (or GDR, German Democratic Republic, aka East Germany), and was officially active from 1994 to 2002, though there are posts up to 2006 (even though the forum was "closed". Sus.)

We get a WHOLE CAST of characters here. I'll keep it simple and only mention SandmannS, the forum mod, Einsamernarr, a Not Very Good (he is Problematic in so many ways) conspiracy theorist, and N20 (or N2O or NO2... dude* can't type fr).

Sandmann is... trying to keep the People on-topic, and gets very ban-happy around 1999 (aka the time the Institute burned down, according to the TMagP info we have). Some of their "updates" on the forum are... suspicious, to say the least.

Oh! There's a cat picture thread. They post cats and trees and books in there. Einsamernarr posted recipe books with a symbol for Platinum, with a date encoded in it (September 30th). This will be important.

Now, things get fun once you look at the HTML in the email we get from the OIAR HR department: we get Eins' login info, which leads to a "members only" thread!

There, we get two bits of lore (and about 10k more words). One, Eins totally stumbled on something highly suspicious, got so scared they called off on an in-person meet between other UseNet members and went "if you don't hear about me in a week assume I'm dead" (not at verbatim but same vibes). That was the last message they ever posted on the group.

About a week later, another member (CheckpointCharlotte, a reference to Checkpoint Charlie) posted a string of numbers (asking what they mean) which led us to an email address, a website, and a locked folder (dokumente.7z) which we've yet to unlock. The symbol for oxygen (cross with a circle) was there too.

At this point we were sort of at a loss. We had a date, a locked folder, a locked website username/password (which we'd gotten through brute force, so we didn't know what clues tied to it YET), and we were just playing around.

Someone discovered freddie@[the OIAR email thing] was a valid email, and, about a day later, we got something ~new~ from a noreply@ email. The logo on it was glitchy, and had coordinates, as well as morse code for 1000Hz. The coordinates led us to, lo and behold, BILLBOARDS! WOO!

So. Billboards. Scanning the QR code led us to the locked page (urclna.[website extension]). But now, we had context! A mercury symbol appeared before the locked page! WOO!

But wait, you'll say, the mercury symbol was in the Youtube video. You didn't mention finding anything there. And, you're right! We didn't! So we started digging!

I isolated the 1000Hz frequency in the video and... it started getting weird around 16s. Like, it was louder, suddenly, and had very VERY vague pulses. I thought it was probably morse code. However, we didn't really manage to grab anything from it (Youtube compression beloathed). (We tried, we really did. I spent like 8 hours on that sound file. I can hear the beeps in my sleep.)

After a while with nothing happening (except for waiting for the phone lines to be fixed), a New Reddit Account went "OH HEY LOOK AT THIS TUMBLR PAGE IT'S WEIRD ISN'T IT". We think this was a RQ plant (hi RQ) or a troll.

Turns out: not a troll! WOO!

So. We got a few things from the Tumblr.

One: more Magnus Institute lore! Go check it out. (Also, the 🝰 day/night symbol). Two: the bottom left corners of the images, when assembled, gave us coordinates. We didn't have a time yet, though. Three: the banner image had morse code it in, along with the Mercury symbol. We think this was a backup in case we failed to get anything from the video.

Four: the only post with any links in it is the Bonzoland post, leading to... you guessed it, Bonzo. We'll get back to that.

Morse code! Woo! Decoding it let us into code-urclna, or Colins Code Collection. Within, we got some cryptic MAG065-esque "my mind is all corners" stuff, which is nice, I guess, and decoded the message "do not trust 8 9", which we don't know how to use yet. Woo? Also a lot of stuff was encoded using alchemy symbols as a 1:1 alphabet replacement cipher, so that was fun.

Oh, and N20 - uh I mean NO2 (????) posted Once (1) in Colin's code repo. So uh. That's a link with the DDR forums I guess????

We're still working on the code collection.

Back to your favourite Bonzo. The page is... it sure is. Early 2000s web design meets 1990s aesthetic. It's magnificent. The email address on the site has been deactivated, alas. We haven't managed to find anything there. The one thing we did find is an error image with a filename that goes something like 3:00;3:00;3:00. We checked the site at 3am and! CREEPY BONZO IMAGE! WOO!

There's also a sound file playing. It reveals a time! We believe the time to be linked to the coordinates on the Tumblr account, since both use the day/night symbol.

Back to the phones. They got fixed! We called! Got a bunch of numbers! And then the word PLATINUM. The numbers were a place (in Berlin), which we'll be visiting when the time comes.

I think I've got everything. Anyway. ARG.
