[here’s a different type of good morning message hehe can’t have my darling be cold, no that simply won’t do]

Golden rays of light peeked through the curtains as the sound of birds chirping filled the trees in front of the window. The warmth of the sun made you want to sink deeper into your blankets again as you sleepily blinked away the last remnants of the night.

Or maybe it wasn’t the warmth of the sun which hindered your way out of bed but the familiar weight draped across your waist. The sight of your lover bathed in light was enough to wake you up at once.

The way the sunlight bounced off his hair, giving him the semblance of a halo; the shadows flowing between the muscles of his bare chest and abdomen; the arm which pulled you closer to the aforementioned chest; the amber eyes that stared down at you in half-conscious amusement… wait what?

“Isn’t it a little early to admire the view, darling?” Zhongli’s voice was still raspy and deep and you could feel the vibrations against your own chest as he spoke. “Not that I mind, of course. Having someone as breathtakingly stunning as yourself study me so closely is quite the compliment, I must say.”

“Someone seems to be in high spirits today,” you mused, running a hair through his unbraided hair.

“Naturally. How could I not, considering the pleasant company I had the fortune of waking up next to? I have come across the most stunning of gems in my life, yet, they all appear increasingly dull the longer I find myself looking at the most precious of treasures in all of Teyvat.” Nestling his head into the crook of your neck, Zhongli placed a trail of featherlight kisses towards you shoulder before pulling back to smile down at you. “How are you feeling today, my love? Are you still cold?”

“No, I’m feeling a lot better today. All thanks to your loving care, of course.” You couldn’t help but mirror his soft expression, the flutter of butterflies sparking a whole new warming sensation throughout your body.

“Ah, that is truly splendid to hear. There is nothing more fulfilling than making sure you’re happy and well cared for.” Pushing a strand of hair behind your ear, Zhongli couldn’t resist pressing a swift peck to your temple. “Let us not rush today. Instead, I want to savour every moment we are granted together.”
