V has very conflicting feelings for family. He doesn’t truly recall the past, as he is only a discarded fragment of Vergil determined to live his own life. However, that doesn’t mean he cannot see Eva as his mother. Rather, he has a fragmented memory of his childhood, and does not recall Eva properly. He recalls her visual appearance, yes, but he cannot make a connection to her as his mother.
