So it's kinda interesting how Jinx is basically Caitlyn's own extremely malevolent genie. Every desire she has, Jinx fulfills, but with such a cruel twist that it almost defeats the point.

Here's a convenient pile of evidence leading you straight to the heart of a criminal empire. Good luck getting out of this mess though. Coworkers making you feel excluded? It's no wonder Jinx is associated with monkeys when her role in the show is ensuring a monkey's paw curls any time Caitlyn has a vague inclination towards something.

It's just another day at Jujutsu High. The weather is a bit chilly but alright. The classes were going well and the students were learning a lot as they could to become sorcerers. There were a handful of missions from here to there but nothing serious. The missions were fine, just normal curses of grade 3s residing in the building so it wasn't too bad.

Not to mention, a certain partner goes to visit a certain wild tiger on campus.

It's another day in New York City. A bustling city with lots of activity. Things happened here and there in the Big Apple. However, when there is so much to do, there is also so little time leading to indecisiveness.

"Ugh...." Ink is at Central Park, hanging out with Jinx, leader of the Cursed Vixens. She is sipping her soda and looks over to her, "Jinx? Got any ideas on what to do today?"

I have a half-formed thought about art and science in Arcane and how usually in our culture they’re pitted as opposites, and instead in Arcane the four main scientist types are all artists as well to a degree.

Like Ekko goes out and paints an entire memorial wall. Jinx does graffiti and stylised tags on everything she builds. Jayce’s work could all be significantly more utilitarian than it is and instead he overdesigns his stuff and that’s not even accounting for the sketches and blueprints he does. Viktor falls into the sketches and blueprints too, but also whatever else was going on with the commune the design of it all was gorgeous art nouveau stuff. Hell, even Heimerdinger becomes a musician.

Honestly the thematic of Jinx essentially failing upwards by constantly screwing up yet still getting the respect of Zaun through sheer force, contrasted with the fact that Vi has only ever tried to do the right thing, only to end up being hated by both cities is fucking heartbreaking.

Find another hyper fixation for the next three months.

That way, whilst you're fixating on the new shiny thing, you won't be looking at the forbidden attention seeker (Arcane season 2 leaks) and can feel assured that when the new season finally comes out you can go into it unbiased 😁

I thought for like two seconds: the politics of Arcane suck, don't they?

Like, it's all about the cycle of violence, which is fair when it comes to the personal relationships, but becomes fucked with Jinx and Caitlyn in particular, as it is a microcosm of the Zaun-Piltover thing.

Like, Piltover has economic power over Zaun, what with its control of international trade, explicit ownership of Zaun's resources and many of its factories, and enforces that power through the Enforcers. While I do think that while Jinx's political strategy is non-existant, this oppression and exploitation needs to end, and non-violent reform will only perpetuate the system. While a peaceable revolution would be nice, the only real independance would seperate Piltover's richest from a lot of their wealth.

A similar thing is shown in how Jinx treats Caitlyn vs. how Caitlyn responds to Jinx. Jinx is a personal scale villain, kidnapping her and killing her mom; she resembles the stereotypical anarchist terrorist, but she chooses her targets much more carefully than that (or, at least, Silco does).

Caitlyn's response: take advantage of her status to restart the explicit subjugation of Zaun with the enforcers, and to gas them. Y'know, fascist stuff. Not a long walk from reformist to fascist, since being a reformist doesn't require you to think too hard about the system and how it doesn't work, and thus your biases remain unexamined.

The cycle of violence in the context of Jinx vs Caitlyn, and Zaun vs Piltover, suggests somehow that the relationships are even, that Zaun hurts Piltover, Piltover hurts Zaun, back and forth forever. Wonder what real world conflicts resemble this narrative, that they hit first, so we have the right to self defense even though we have all the power in this situation.

I really like Jinx as a character, I just want a fic that gives her coherent and actionable politics instead of the terrorist framing.
