“…” now that’s an unusual question — coming from a human too, out of all people. “I assume you dared to question me that on the very first place because you wish to know about my honest thoughts… very well.” He only needs to be as eloquent as he can be with his answers, but doesn’t hold back from truly saying his thoughts, right? It’ll be slightly challenging, yet still doable regardless.

“If you put a piece of a human next to of a pork, beef, and a random game meat and let me sample it without knowing which one is which, I wouldn’t be able to tell simply from the taste alone.” Implying that he cares less about the actual taste, but there’s something more to it. “But the mana or life force you get from a human’s flesh is different because it’s particularly more bountiful. There’s even more plenty if you consume the brain — likely because they believe it’s where thoughts and emotions are stored...” His sentence briefly trails off until he tops it off with a conclusion, “...yes, the brain is indeed the most satisfying part to me, taste wise.”

I love love love the characters you've created and the work you've put into them. All of them are just so much fun to watch and interact with whenever we have the chance to write together. It’s not everyday that she receives a beautiful and intricately arranged bouquet of flowers like this! Well, she has her admirers who’d insist on giving her flowers as a gesture of affection for sure — but as a birthday gift? That’s rather sweet. She doesn’t see that happening every year!

“Spencer-taaaan, thank you for the flowers! Hit me up if you need anything next time, kay ♡” Reading the written message that comes with it raised an amused smile that crosses from ear to ear. There is no guarantee that she’ll be bound to always behave well, but she does appreciate the effort given.

Since it was Tsuyuko’s birthday, he knew he had to do something special. Although he wasn’t great at picking out gifts, he already knew what he was going to give her— it had been an easy decision, after all. As they sat on the couch of his apartment, he gave her a playful smirk and took his shirt off, grabbing both of her hands and placing them on his chest, golden eyes gazing into hers. “It’s your birthday, so ya can do anything you want to me. Anything. Today, your wish is my command, Tsu. Just say the word.”

As palms made contact with the tanned skin of his tattooed bosom, she could sense and listen to his gentle heartbeats as well as feeling the familiar warmth that radiates through Kai’s body. His proposition to celebrate her birthday was quite clear from the very start, and she knew very well where this offer could lead to. “Hmmm,” tilting her head to the side, she acted as if she was pondering over something. “Anything, you say?”

The corners of her mouth were then pulling itself into a cheeky smile, followed by her movement afterwards — she clung close to Kai by putting her weight on top of him, pulling him into an embrace. Clothed ample flesh pressed themselves tightly against his naked chest, their faces only centimeters away from one another. Without any intention of pulling him into a kiss ( ...yet ), she would instead nuzzle into the crook of neck to make herself comfortable. A very much needy move, almost like an affectionate feline in human form.

“Mind if we stay like this for a bit? You feel so warm, Kai-chan. I like it.” Needless to say, the vixen had been feeling rather touchy for this special day. “We still have a lot of time for the day. I also want to spoil myself with pizzas. And birthday cakes.” Suggesting that they should save some time to get those indulgent treats delivered to his doorstep for later.  

“…And with you, of course.”

After ending her sentence with a tender peck to his lips ( with a clear image of what they’d soon be doing as the pinnacle of today’s celebration ), she would return to make herself comfortable once more within his arms, giddy and excitable as she thought of their agenda for the rest of the day. “Aaaah! When his voice finally registered into her response, Megohime fluttered her eyes awake from her light doze. She was seated next to him, several scrolls scatter on the nearby floor with one still half-opened upon her lap. Last time she remembered before dozing off, they spent their time together for nearly the whole day within this room; accompanied by various books of different sources and languages, scrolls filled with knowledge pertaining to war strategems, collection of poetries as well as letters they had collected throughout the years.

He mentioned that an important campaign was coming in a week ahead, and wanted to spend his time away from others — save for his wife — in order to focus on devising a proper strategy. Rather of inviting her, his right eye Kojuro seemed like he’d be a more proper companion for such purpose, but he insisted on having her attend him by his side, for some reason ( she figured that he simply wanted to make the best out of their time together — nothing more, nothing less ).

“Masamune-sama,” unable to shake off the late-night drowsiness, she released out a yawn in between her sentence, “I’m sorry… ah—” hand languidly motioned up to rub her half-lidded eye, “what were you saying… again?”

Instead of a spoken answer, she would then find him scooping her up within his arms into a bridal carry. “M-Masamune-sama!” Red tint of blush sweeped across her cheeks in a mix of embarrassment and surprise, yet her body didn’t visibly protest at all. “What?” that was his response — short, nonchalant and casual, followed by a quick movement of a foot to slide open the shoji door to their reading chamber without taking his hands off of her. “You’ve been dozing off more than once since earlier. Get some sleep, would you? I’m taking you to our room so you can rest for today.”

So… he did notice it all along. For some reason, it made her silly little longing heart aflutter in happiness... even just for a moment.

“B-but…!” Flustered and stuttering, she was at loss of response. It was indeed, already late, and it would be unlikely for people to see them walking down the hallways like this. She couldn’t shake off the embarrassment, however, as the romantic gesture came off very much unprecedented on her end. “Aaaaah—” Warmth spread so quickly across skin as Megohime buried her face into open palms. The last thing she could hear before walking away to their shared bedroom was his low amused chuckle, followed by a compliment that further made her curl in a blushing mess.

“Heh… You’re always so cute when you’re being like this, Mego.”

Twirling strands of her hair with an index finger, she offers Kai a side-eyed look from her side of the couch. Clad in her oversized casual sweatshirt, her legs lift and shift into a cross-legged position to further relax her stance — unguarded. No need to be so guarded all the time with a man she’s slept with for almost seven days a week, no? “I mean, bad boys are nice and all.” In her experience, their unrestrained nature offers her a certain brand of adrenaline rush she tends to seek. Not all of them know how to treat a woman right, but once they do, they know exactly what they’re doing.

“But… there’s something tempting about making good boys bend to your will too.” Speaking from experience, lust is a particularly powerful asset to weaponize. “You know what I mean, right? Anyway, that said…”

A playful pinch on the tip of his nose, and a girlish giggle would then burst from her. “I also have a thing for you, you know.” Bad boys, good boys — that matters little if she can genuinely enjoy a good companionship. “You cutie.”

There’s nothing more comforting than having a gentle hand softly caressing the lustrous strands of her hair while the other grooms her crown with a brush to keep the glowing sheen among the dark tresses. Eyes close in between the relaxed state, while a pleasured purr escapes her throat. “You are good with your hands, Vero-chan,” oh, how she could offer such praise ( that could be interpreted in a completely different way ) so nonchalantly! If the other is used to her companion, then that’s simply a typical normal encounter with Tsuyuko. No need to fret so much over it.

“Hmm… I’m feeling sleepy.” She makes a loud and audible yawn as her arms stretch upwards. Quick to act, she then would lay down her head upon the space available on her lap — intending to make it as her makeshift pillow. “…You can continue,” she coos as she puts one side of her head comfortably on Veronika’s thighs, reminiscent of a rather oversized housecat. “I’m going to have my beauty nap for a bit, ‘kay? You’re so soft… by the way.” Again, she voices out that compliment so casually, one has to wonder how she manages to do it without the slightest tinge of hesitation or embarrassment.

Trick or treat… How long it has been since he participated in such festivities? Halloween, or in his more familiar term — All Hallow’s Eve. While it was all fun and lighthearted when he was a child as he received sweets while dressing up as a knight ( he’d rather be a gallant-looking figure than a demon or an apparition! ), it feels like he has long outgrown such occasions that he deems as childish. Unlike Daisuke, who has donned himself in a proper costume befitting All Hallow’s Eve, he has nothing to prepare for him at the moment. To others, he probably looks like he’s already wearing an attire that can pass as something unusual or otherworldly, likely due to his striking equine-like physical features.

“Trick or treating, huh…” contemplating to himself briefly, he then continues, “Do you think it’s fine for me not to wear any costumes, Daisuke?” he questions, wanting to reaffirm his own thoughts whether to change or not to change. It feels like a lot of hassle to do the former. “I mean, to you, I already look unusual enough to blend in with people in, right?”

He gives the crowd of festivities a glance, noticing that most of them are young children or teenagers frolicking among themselves. Feeling somewhat nostalgic, his expression soon blooms into a small simper.

“Well, regardless,” with his arms crossed, his simper then burgeons into a gentler smile towards the boy. “I’ll join you.” Suffice to say, nostalgia is the driving force behind his current decision. “Apple pies would be nice.” Candies as well — he doesn’t need to say that part out loud.

General Appearance: Jet black hair that appears wavy and silky with small hints of burgundy, striking golden eyes like their parents. Cat-like.

Personality: Extroverted trickster, unpredictable (to somewhat cruel extent?), has a somewhat macabre sense of humor, but is actually well-mannered and soft spoken in ladylike manner. Think of Wednesday Addams, but if she's like ^_^ all the time.

Special Talents: Ventriloquism ( ...don't ask why ), particularly sharp memories, being a good actress, and possibly other innate physical capabilities associated with her yokai lineage.

Who they take after more: Appearance wise, it turns out her parents are already somewhat similar to each other so in my opinion it's a good 50/50 split between the two.

Personal Head canon: Unlike her mother and father, she has no interest into becoming a professional assassin. She's more interested in becoming a spy or a backer who works behind the scene as a particularly credible informant, since she's actually very observant and has a strong attention to little details -- which makes her extra dangerous if she's stalking someone to extract information because she develops a good amount of stealth technique thanks to her mom.

It shouldn’t take too long since it’s just some guys thinkin’ they can move in on my turf, but I didn’t want to start preparing until I let you know.❞ He would naturally come back victorious, but Masamune knew that Megohime still worried all the same. This wouldn’t be a problem if he didn’t have a tendency to get hotheaded, pride elevating to the point where trying to reason with him could potentially be difficult. Alas, such was merely how Masamune was, although he did at least attempt to reel in his more bad habits, if only for the sake of those who cared about him. ❝Heh, have a victory feast waiting for when we come back, yeah?❞

Another campaign?

For some reason to her, it seemed like the universe really went through with so many ways to keep them apart — right after he just returned last week from his previous campaign against a rival daimyo. While he did return victorious, safe && unharmed, overestimating his own abilities was one of his flaws that she knew too well. In his abilities she did trust, but she was well aware that one’s hubris could also become one’s downfall, especially when thinking or making decisions rashly. She may not be a renowned military strategist or adviser… but even a lady should know when to or when not to stick in her nose into another matter that she wasn’t well-versed in.

“You’re leaving again?” she replied, azure hues averted their gaze downwards pensively. Megohime took her sweet time to think up another witty reply to say out loud. First, an audible sighed huff to express a subtle frustration. Then, “…But no matter what I have to say in this, I don’t think I can’t stop you from going, right?” He was always as stubborn as a stallion when he already made his decision — she also knew that very well.

“Oookay, victory feast for you, Oshu’s No. 1, I’ll be sure to prepare it then, and…” She noticed that his single eye was focusing on her, making her a little wary of when she should execute her next move ( as she thought it’d be a little embarrassing, coming from her ) && yet… should a wife be ashamed of showing a little bit of affection towards her husband? No… right?

Megohime then wrapped her arms to hold him on his waist — clinging real close, burying her face right on his chest so he wouldn’t have to witness the prominent deep reddish tint flushing her warm cheeks. Her voice was almost muffled, but of course he already knew her obvious message. “P-promise to return safely for me, okay?”

What is the one thing you’re the proudest of in your writing?

What is the one thing you’re the proudest of in your writing? Personally, I take pride in the amount of research I try to put in as I write my characters since they take a lot of inspiration from real-life mythos, folklore, and historical events. While they may or may not 100% stick closely to the source, being respectful to the culture they originate from here is the key. Researching and reading about mythos, folklore and history are my favorite hobbies to do in the spare time, so it clicks very much for me to incorporate it in my writing and worldbuilding. I tend to stick more to East Asian-based sources since it's easier to understand from cultural proximity context (well, I am Southeast Asian...), but I'd like to expand my reach out of my usual comfort zone as well.

Some of my rp partners (notably, from local communities) said before that I also write off emotions and internal thoughts quite vividly but since English is not my first language (and sometimes I'm not confident enough with my writing in English), I'm not sure if that point applies here as well... ^^;

“E-eh?!”

She blinked twice, whilst keeping her gaze fixed towards the single eye that stared into her own. Megohime had to make sure she wasn’t hearing things wrong. “You want to spend this year’s Tsukimi… with me?” Though they’ve been living under the same roof for years, hearing the great One-Eyed Dragon asking her out directly to attend a special occasion with him was something of a rarity. Understandably, he was more often away from home, carrying out his duty as a leader && a warlord, to lead his men into battles && returning to Oushuu victorious. Not all campaigns would necessarily end in a favorable result, && casualties were more often than not, bound to happen — the very reason she’d pray for his safe return to home.

As he was often away from home for so long, spending their moments together as a husband && wife was already a rare occasion within a year, moreso if it happened to coincide with a certain festival that they observe. So, when she heard of his invitation ( that rang to her closer to a declaration ) she was temporarily at loss on how to respond. Starting off with a brief stutter, an attempt was made to respond in return to his declaration.

“I… O-of course, Masamune-sama!” Her expression was visibly elated, bodily gestures turned giddily sheepish in response as her fingertips twiddle against each other. Voiced hush elicited from her lips, almost like a whisper. “You actually don’t have to ask me for that. I’ll be more than welcome to...”  

Though with only a few days left to the now-hotly anticipated moon-viewing festival that she looked forward to, her mind had immediately scrambled into meticulous planning for the event. “Umm... Should we prepare the sake and dango set that you like? Tell Kojuro to cook a special dish for the whole household? Ah, um, w-what kind of kimono do you want me to wear for the day?”

Keiji horse is straight up staring right into Renge due to said owner forgetting to feed them this one time(Goddamnit Keiji!). Matsuzake needs his food Renge, they trust you enough to feed them!

“W-what’s with you?”

She’s aware that she’s dealing with a famed historical figure — nay, a horse, but not just an ordinary horse. It’s the famed warsteed Matsukaze itself, in the flesh! However, what weirds her out from this predicament is that the creature itself has been intently staring at her, which is easy to interpret that it’s pleading for something. Most certainly, food.

Alternatively, it’s simply mistaking her for its owner — simply because they look familiar ( sort of ).

“Didn’t Keiji-san just give you food?” Or not, she thinks. He’s nowhere to be seen around too, likely already ran through all the way downtown to indulge in a festival with the locals && forgetting to do his duties — as usual. Oh well. “Mmmh…” she couldn’t help but to feel bad because the steed keeps on giving her a pleading stare with its two, beady dark eyes. “Fine. I’ll do it in his stead then…” Luckily for them, it seems like the stables already provided enough fresh carrots to feed its residents. She takes at least two pieces, being somewhat aware that these creatures can have quite a bottomless appetite. “If Matsu-san knows about it, I guess it won’t end well for him, huh?” she mumbles as she's handing out the carrots — may as well as been directed to the horse.
