One of my favourite things about Star Trek is Jim’s face whenever Spock is showing off. Most shows joke about how boring scientists are: in BBT, Penny’s face when Sheldon and the others are talking about science; in Friends, everytime Ross said something about dinosaurs etc. But Jim?

Jim thinks it’s the cutest thing ever and has hearts in his eyes. And I love him for that.

Survivors of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting announce the ‘March For Our Lives’ on March 24 in support of gun control
‘‘… Not one more. We cannot allow one more child to be shot at school. We cannot allow one more teacher to make a choice to jump in front of a firing assault rifle to save the lives of students. We cannot allow one more family to wait for a call or text that never comes. Our schools are unsafe. Our children and teachers are dying. We must make it our top priority to save these lives…’’

SpiderForest Webcomic Podcast - Episode 14 (listen here)
Webcomics are projects that take a long long time to complete, often many years. Sustaining interest in a project like that over such a long time is real challenge. Life, money, health, and simple boredom can all conspire against you. How do you overcome these obstacles and keep your eyes on your goal?
In the first part of the episode, Ewa of Bits Fair interviews Katherine Jameson, creator of Age of Clay, about her experiences working on a webcomic she had all scripted out before she started drawing it, about the ways she redefined what the project was about as the time went on, and how she brought the comic to its conclusion.
In the second part, Mathieu Moyen of 6-Commando leads a roundtable discussion between Sophie Pfrötzschner (Soul’s Journey), Kristen Kiomall-Evans (XII: Of Magic and Muses) and Jen Zyren Smith (LaSalle’s Legacy) about how they script their stories, how they motivate themselves to keep going, and the importance of not leaving one’s audience hanging.

Marvel, Matthew Josephs and David Uzochukwu imagine the street style of Black Panther’s home, Wakanda
Marvel Studios has worked with London stylist Matthew Josephs and photographer David Uzochukwu to create Wakanda Zine, a limited edition, street-style magazine dedicated to Black Panther’s fictional nation. Working mainly with black British designers and creatives, the zine imagines the culture and aesthetic of Wakanda’s people, incorporating influences such as Afro Futurism, punk and London’s own street style.
Styling by Matthew Josephs, makeup by Daniel Sallstrom, hair by Rio Sreedharan, and light by Maria Monfort Plana.

if anyone ever tells you that english isn’t ridiculous remember that the reason why we have a silent b in debt is because a group of guys got together to standardise english spelling and got to the word debt, which at the time was primarily spelled either ‘dett’ or ‘det’. so they basically went:
‘everyone speaks latin, right? so let’s put a silent b in debt. like debitum, which is latin for debt. problem solved.’
also the reason why there is a h in ghost is because when the printing press first came to england the only people trained to operate it were flemmish speaking, and they put a h after g because that’s what you do in flemmish. they put shit like ghirl and ghoose, but the only reason why ghost stuck is because people saw ‘the holy ghost’ in the bible and were like ‘well, that MUST be right’.
so yeah english is a really stupid language with some of the most ridiculous spelling

Last week, [Cards Against Humanity] went one step further, announcing the creation of its own super PAC, the type of political organizing committee enabled by a 2010 Supreme Court decision to spend unlimited amounts of money on political speech. The company dubbed it “The Nuisance Committee,” named after Cards Against Humanity co-creator Max Temkin’s grandfather Ira Weinstein’s experience during WWII. While interned in a POW camp in Germany, Weinstein formed with other prisoners the “Nuisance Committee,” designed to irritate their captors. A press release announcing the super PAC’s formation writes, “The comparison here between Trump and Hitler is intentional.”
“If your opponent is going to be spending tons of money and using all of these legal tools to outflank you, to say that we’re going to stand on principle and we’re not going to spend any money, and we’re not going to fight back, and we’re not going to advocate for our values using all the tools that the system provides, then how much can you really care about the cause? I feel so strongly about Trump that I will use whatever tools are legally available to try to stop him. Unfortunately, where we are in American democracy right now, that includes all these things that nobody likes.”
