Hey guys did you know Macaque’s ability to hear the past present and future is great but we don’t even know if they’ve applied that to LMK verse yet? We haven’t even seen his 6 ears and we haven’t gotten any indication that Macaque is ‘all-knowing’—which isn’t even the case for him tbh.
The reason he was able to copy SWK’s moves and techniques was by listening to him! Mimicking him! He was literally repeating all the moves SWK made by copying them by heart—he was not acting out on his own at that moment he was literally copying SWK’s skills and abilities by being in tune with SWK’s physical attributes thus becoming his mirrored self because otherwise he wouldn’t have lasted ten minutes with him— Not only that but even some gods struggle to fight against SWK without needing additional aid—
I talked about this with my sibling too—but Wukong learns things so quickly and expertly it’s terrifying and fascinating altogether.
Prior to his battle with Nezha he did not have a war form nor did he know of its existence until he witnessed the Lotus Prince do it on his own—and then he quickly, in that moment, studied it and then did it all on his own within the next few seconds.
He has a war form because he witnessed it and learned it and mastered the technique.
He’s so stupidly smart he had LBD on her toes because he memorized her attacks, calculated how long she would last, and when she was panicking finally landed the “final blow” and smacked her down so he could hold her by the neck—he did that all on the go! He wasn’t even struggling with the mayor with how easily he broke free!
Even the mayor was startled about it (you can see it as he’s breaking free and he genuinely didn’t see it coming. bastard’s smiling—thought he had won but no he underestimated him).
Azure Lion needed the combined powers of his person and the Jade Emperor to fight against Wukong and Xiaotian but remember that while Xiaotian was holding Azure back, Wukong literally pushed him away
Wukong is ultimately so strong and is capable of countering moves and tactics by studying them and learning them on the go—
Erlang may be the god of engineering and justice but Wukong is the literal embodiment of intelligence, his whole purpose is to grow and learn and study everything all at once.
He is Awakened in the Emptiness—he is everything and nothing all at once, he is not someone that will ever run out of power.
As he should
Every time someone says Macaque is as powerful as SWK i make him an inch shorter
#woof loupen#wow ok this one got long LMAO#thank u tho i loved discussing this HAHAHA#lego monkie kid#sun wukong#lmk sun wukong

Can I ask your opinion? So, I feel like everyone into 3H is in love with Dimitri, but I can't connect with him. I don't dislike him, but I feel like there isn't much to his personality without all his various mental health issues. It's hard to get a feel on what he's really like, so I end up just seeing him as a walking ball of trauma and not a three-dimensional character. Do you have any thoughts on Dimitri himself and how to separate him as a person from his psychological issues? Thanks!
Hmm, I guess my first thought is that everyone resonates with characters differently and so if you don’t particularly feel connected to him, that’s not wrong. Fictional parasocial relationships are very similar to real-life relationships, so it follows that nobody is going to like every character. I can’t say that a portion of my love for his character doesn’t come from his mental issues because that’s something I personally relate to and feel drawn to in others. That’s just who I am and how I build relationships. There is also something to be said for the unavoidable way mental illness informs a person’s behavior and character, it’s as much an aspect of them as being born with blond hair or losing an eye.
That said, I will do my best to explain why I think Dimitri is wonderful. Not in spite of his mental illness, but because I don’t think that’s all he is.
So, Dimitri is, as he says, a very clumsy person. This unfortunately extends to his social skills. He has a lot of very socially awkward tendencies and a general lack of self-awareness. This contrasts with his innate desire to please people, or at least avoid upsetting anyone. The thing is, Dimitri doesn’t always completely understand what upsets people or how exactly they might feel. His childhood isolation left him rather emotionally unaware and desperate for the acceptance and approval of others. That’s not to say he doesn’t try to understand other people’s feelings, but it’s not an intuitive process. He has a habit of saying kind of dumb or uncomfortable things out of nowhere, which is most likely his real feelings coming out in rather inept ways. He means well, but he’s just so dang clumsy.
The desperation to be included and validated I mentioned, I think, can be seen in the way he tries so hard to make the other Blue Lions see him as a peer and equal all the while keeping himself rather closed off from them. Dimitri approaches conversations as a means of focusing on the other person, trying to make an appeal to them rather than as an interaction where both parties could be seen as vulnerable. Of course, just like most other socially awkward introverts, he opens up when he feels closer to the person, but that takes a while. Gotta unlock the supports, you know? Although it’s not necessarily obvious, his incredibly stiff behavior (especially pre-timeskip) and the way he switches between overly formal and awkwardly friendly in his interactions with people as he tries to figure out how to socially and emotionally navigate relationships really gives me the impression of someone trying desperately to fit in without even the faintest clue of how to actually manage that. He also does his best to avoid social situations, which, mood. Basically, Dimitri’s a big dumb massive introvert trying to act like he’s not.
FURTHERMORE, he is a dork. An absolute goof of a person. Dimitri canonically thinks so-bad-its-good puns and jokes are hilarious. His own style of telling jokes is saying things that may or may not have contextual humor in a normal voice and then claiming after the fact that he intended it as such. Now, his supports with Alois are absolute factual proof of the so-bad-its-good humor, but might I also direct your attention to the scene before the battle against Miklan in Conand Tower (the event name is “Tower in a Storm (Blue Lions)”). Basically, Gilbert is explaining the history behind Conand Tower and Dimitri says, in an incredibly earnest voice, “You’re very well informed, Gilbert. Please, tell us more.” This is a joke. Supposed to be, at least. The delivery is somewhat emphasized, but not in a recognizably sarcastic way. Gilbert, who knew Dimitri very well when he was young, realizes it’s a joke after a second. But there are other things Dimitri says that I believe are his bad “jokes” and since nobody knows him well enough to tell, they don’t call him on it. There’s no proof, but his line in the Lord’s intro where he says, “And here I thought you were acting as a decoy for the sake of us all.” to Claude has to be an attempt at sarcasm. Dimitri is oblivious, but not stupid. In his Goddess Tower conversation with Byleth, when discussing the topic of wishes, he says, “Perhaps it would make more sense for me to wish that we’ll be together forever. What do you think?” In a completely normal voice. Following are two speech bubbles of “...” before he laughs and proclaims that it’s just a joke and that he’s getting better at telling them. Now, this is a two-parter because I see this as both his horribly awkward tendency to say things he feels without thinking too hard beforehand as well as his silly deadpan style of “jokes”. Granted, he does apologize. Dimitri’s got socially awkward zoomer humor. It’s endearing.
Here is a video of Dimitri hitting on Byleth pre-timeskip. I’m not sure how far it goes to endear someone to him, but the mostly awkward and occasionally smooth attempts of Dimitri’s flirtations are absolutely a highlight of his character.
Now, this isn’t quite as cute as all that, but I think character arc and change do a lot for making a character feel more three-dimensional. Dimitri is hypocritically selfish. Although those are both negative terms, I don’t necessarily mean them as such, at least not in their totality. Both are things to overcome, which he does. And that’s why I feel like they’re a valid point of discussion when trying to explain the allure of his character.
The hypocritical part comes from the way he easily allows and forgives the flaws of others while constantly castigating himself for the same reasons. He says things that show an absurd amount of a lack of self-awareness. For example, he tells Edelgard, “Hm. You will prove a lacking ruler yourself if you look for deceit behind every word and fail to trust those whom you rely on.” All the while straight-up lying to and emotionally avoiding his friends. Dimitri also tells Marianne, when she is punishing herself for putting other people at risk, “What matters is that they came back safely in the end. You shouldn’t blame yourself for that.” Really, his C and B with Marianne is an exercise in hypocrisy. The standards Dimitri has for himself are incredibly, unattainably high. He’s setting himself up for failure in that way and, to an extent, knows what he’s doing because he knows that those same standards are too much for his friends and allies to meet. He wishes to take on everything himself. But, what I find so beautiful about this, is that Dimitri eventually realizes that he can’t do that. He is not strong enough to take on the weight of the world on himself, he comes to understand that it’s something he must allow himself to share with the people who care about him. He comes to realize that, as difficult as it is to accept, he is a weak person. Despite all of his introversion and inability to emotionally open up, he figures out that having a support system and allowing yourself to rely on people who love you is a necessity. Personally, I think this message is incredibly important in real life. Watching Dimitri come to that conclusion and argue it’s importance really rounded out his arc and journey as a person. Now, the relatability of this conclusion will differ, but I don’t think it has to do with his mental illness as much as it is a fundamental aspect of growth.
The selfishness is basically outlined above. Dimitri is selfish about his pain and secrets, purposefully and selfishly driving people away because he wants to keep the burden to himself. His vice is guilt and he indulges in the pain of it like an addiction. Hatred, too, is a drug. He thinks he needs it to keep going, even though all it does is bring agony to himself and others around him. Learning to accept and let go of these feelings is, again, something I think is important and a character arc that I really love, especially when you see him suffer as much as he does. Now, the execution of this is lacking, I admit. But that’s an issue for another time I think.
I am not quite sure if I did much to change your opinion, but this is all I can think of for now. There is probably a lot more than I’ve left out because I think about Dimitri far too much to be healthy. So, I’ll leave you off with some honorable mention aspects of his character that I think are super fun:
Pre-timeskip Dimitri has his hair tucked behind his ear. He can lift a wagon by himself. In the DLC, when faced with an impossible-to-open gate, it was not muscle man Balthus who said he couldn’t open it, but twinkish teen Dimitri. He’s not really smooth with one-liners. Like, at all. Notably, when attacking Manuela post-timeskip, he says, “Perhaps I should have appeared before you holding a bouquet of flowers, rather than the weapon that will end your life.” Adding to this, at one point, Dimitri fucked up a pick-up line so badly the girl came after him. Areadbhar has a mitten on it in the Azure Moon final picture. He breaks everything. His Crest activation ability even supports this, using twice the durability of any given Combat Art. One of his post-timeskip counselor messages is, “I lived in the slums for a long time, and I saw how the people there suffered from poverty and the ravages of war. There must be something I can do to save them." His room in the academy is right next to Sylvain’s, meaning that for almost an entire year Dimitri was a single wall away from hearing whatever nonsense Sylvain was getting up to. Dimitri is the only Lord that takes the throne and doesn’t abandon his people in some form or another.
And, finally, he is pretty sexy. And that’s all that really matters, isn’t it?

Operation Confession (Dimitri x F!Reader) [Ch. 2]
ah! i felt like i should specify that this is a f!reader. sorry about that. all of my stories have been f!reader and i (waking up in a cold sweat) realized it would prob be better for me to specify that from now on. i’m so sorry for not putting it earlier! from now on, i will specify if it is f!reader or not.
this has got to be one of the longest fics i have ever written (this chapter alone pushing slightly past 5000 words). i am *so* glad i split it up into different chapters. imagine if this was just one big oneshot oh my g
also, i found some loose inspiration for dimitri’s wardrobe change from be my princess 2′s ivan chernenkov!
okay, that’s about it. sorry for the long intro! now, please enjoy chapter 2!
~*~
“Sylvain...”
“Yeah?”
“Was it truly necessary to tell everyone about my... predicament?”
“I-If I may, Your Highness,” Ashe piped up, “we were already aware of your feelings towards (F/N). You’re not exactly... subtle.”
Everyone-- including Byleth who was grading papers at their desk-- all nodded their head in agreement.
“See?! C’mon, even the Professor noticed the sparks between you two!”
“That’s because they’re Professor Byleth, Sylvain.” Ingrid informed with a sigh.
“Oh yeah. Fair point.”
“Where is (F/N)?” Dimitri queried, not seeing your radiant face among the crowd.
“Well, Mercie and I...” Annette began, her cheeks spreading into a grin. “We pulled a little... prank, on our dear (F/N).”
“A-A prank?”
“Nothing too serious. We just did something that will slow her down.” Mercedes assured sweetly. Sylvain clicked his tongue loudly.
“Don’t worry about her! Remember why we’re all gathered here.”
Murmurs bounced around the attendees; before Dimitri could ask what kind of scheme the redhead roped them into, his loyal retainer announced,
“Your Highness, do you require assistance in confessing to (F/N)?”
Dimitri’s alabaster cheeks were hosed into an assortment of rubies and reds; dismay and horror and dread were all that filled his pretty azure eyes. The veins outlined in his neck and forehead grew sharper and sharper with each uncomfortable squeak that left the prince’s throat.
“Ridiculous. The boar actually has feelings?” Felix spat.
“Yeah. He needs help.” Sylvain answered, ignoring his scowling classmate.
“I-- You-- Sylvain, was this--?”
“My plan? Yeah.”
Dimitri would have killed Sylvain right then and there if it weren’t for the presence of several witnesses.
That didn’t mean he didn’t entertain the idea, though. Sylvain’s cool facade was pierced by the murderously sharp glow in the prince’s eyes.
“Not to worry, Your Highness!” Ashe cheerily interrupted Dimitri’s elaborate scheme of how to grind Sylvain’s kneecaps into a fine powder. “While on our way here, several of us have come up with ideas on how to get you two together!”
“Instead of us all working as one big group, we thought it would be wiser if we split up into smaller groups.” Ingrid mentioned.
“Mercie and I are together of course!” Annette’s eyes glowed excitedly. “After class, we’re gonna stop by the florist to buy (F/N)’s favorite flowers!”
“Why flowers, may I ask?”
“So you can give them to her later tonight!”
“T-Tonight?”
“This is where Ashe and I will lend you our aid.” Dedue stepped forward. “We will help you cook the perfect meal for (F/N).”
“Me? Cook?”
“(F/N) will surely be pleased that you put in the effort to cook her something! No matter the outcome, at least...” Ashe rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly.
“And I suppose this is where we come in.” Ingrid said, motioning to herself, Sylvain, and Felix. “We will be making sure that everything goes smoothly, and will assist each group however way we can.”
“I’ll teach you everything I know when it comes to wooing the ladies.” Sylvain winked.
“I suppose I can serve as the ‘distraction.’ After class, I’ll ask (F/N) to spar with me so that should give you all some time to prepare.” Felix huffed.
“Well, I wouldn’t mind taste-testing the dishes that you prepare... J-Just to make sure (F/N) will like it! We do have similar tastes, so...” Ingrid blushed.
“I myself have devised a way to get you two together,” Byleth stated flatly, “and that starts with a brand new seating chart. I have separated you all into your different squadrons.”
Everyone crowded around the parcel of paper that Byleth spread on the table.
“Dimitri, you sit by (F/N) in the back of the room there. Mercedes and Annette, you sit together towards the front. Ashe, Dedue, in the row beside them. Ingrid, Sylvain, and Felix will be sitting in this row, behind Mercedes and Annette. Understood?”
“N-No--”
“Yes, Professor.”
“Good. In your seats, everyone. If my calculations are correct, (F/N) should be coming in any minute now.”
Dimitri watched in plain confusion as everyone scrambled to their new seats. He automatically looked to Dedue for help, but only saw Ashe taking Dimitri’s usual spot beside the Duscur man. The sounds of curses haphazardly strewn about the vicinity along with an unsettling squelching sound echoed closer and closer to the classroom.
“Quickly now. Dimitri, in your seat.”
BANG!!!
The doors of the classroom smashed the stone wall with a thundering clap, rattling the slabs of wood on their hinges. You stumbled in, holding a dripping wet boot with one hand and your collection of study materials hastily bundled together in the other. The tousled blob of tangled tresses on the left side of your head starkly contrasted the sorry attempt of brushing on your right. Little leaves stuck out of the collar of your shirt and brown, crackly twigs pinned themselves onto your skirt.
“Good morning, Ms. (L/N). Turned rather... experimental this morning, have we?”
“P-Professor Byleth!” You bowed deeply, jumping when your books tumbled out of your grasp. “I am so, so sorry for being late! I’ve had the most horrendous morning...”
“Oh? How so?”
“Well, when I woke up, i found my boots filled to the brim with water.” You chucked the boot you were holding towards the door and yanked off the one you were wearing; about a quarter bootful of water came cascading out of the shoe.
“Then my uniform-- which was folded neatly and placed on my desk the night before-- was thrown! Outside! Into some shrubs by my window!” You picked and plucked at the bits of foliage that accessorized your uniform with exasperation.
“And to top it all off, my hairbrush was missing! So I’ve been trying to comb my hair with my fingers, but that’s really hard to do when you’re holding a soggy boot in one hand and books in the other!”
You keeled over, wheezing, while the rest of the Blue Lions slowly turned their gaze to the two smiling girls in the front.
“That is... quite a tale.”
“Professor, I can not make this up. I feel like somebody is targeting me. But why? What could I have possibly done to deserve this?!”
“Nothing, (F/N). You’re right. What you went through was severe.” Byleth glanced down at two specific students sharply. “I will excuse your tardiness for today. Dimitri, please go help your new desk mate. I must start class immediately if we are to stay on schedule.”
“Of course, Professor...”
Oh no... Of all the... Since when did your class get a new seating chart? And why, of all people, were you placed beside Dreamy Dimi Dimitri?! Why was the Goddess punishing you? And for what?! You didn’t do anything! And now he has to see you looking like this for the rest of class? Why was life acting so cruel towards you?
“(F/N)?”
“Ah! D-Dimitri! Yes, hello!”
“Allow me to take your books to our desk.” He muttered politely, refusing to meet your gaze. Unable to say anything else without babbling like an idiot, you bowed gratefully to the prince as he scooped up your notes and books in his arms. Great! You were so disgusting, he couldn’t even look at you! Today was gonna be a long, long day...
Dimitri smoothed out the crinkled notes on your side of the row and his pupils happened upon a little scribble faintly scratched into the corner of the paper. The tips of his gloved fingers grazed the marking subconsciously, his brain not quite registering the ‘D’ drawn in the middle of a heart.
Color flooded your cheeks as you nabbed the paper away from Dimitri’s ‘prying’ eyes.
“Excuse me! I need that!”
“A-Ah. Of course. Forgive me.” Dimitri’s cognitive abilities had completely shut down, his entire being running solely on the etiquette lessons that were drilled into his head as a child.
Minutes ticked by, and Professor Byleth’s voice slowly joined the symphony of background noise. Neither you nor Dimitri processed a single word in class that day-- you huddling yourself into the closest semblance of a ball while Dimitri busied himself counting the specks on the floor in a vain, vain attempt to distract himself from the delightfully crisp apple notes that came from your hair (despite its... frazzled appearance).
The words that did process, however, was Byleth’s resounding ‘Class dismissed’ and you had never been happier to leave a lecture. Without casting a glance at anyone, you shoveled your studies into your arms and sped-walked out the classroom and towards the safe confines of your room to cry yourself to sleep.
But in your rush, a certain paper that was half-wedged between two books spiraled down, down, and further down. Dimitri’s watchful eye and skillful hand caught the piece of paper before it touched the ground and recognized the small, minimalist script as your handwriting. He looked up, eager to hand you your belonging, but...
“Er, Felix, have you seen (F/N)?”
“What? Did you not see her leave the classroom? I didn’t even get a chance to ask her to spar with me...”
“Well, she--” Dimitri choked on his own spit. “F-Felix--”
“What?”
Short, blubbering stammers made up a majority of Dimitri’s vernacular; Felix, growing impatient at the royal’s inability to form coherent thoughts, snapped the paper from Dimitri’s hand and read the contents.
“These are just notes on that battle formation we learned the other day.”
“No, there’s something on the corner up there...”
Felix’s sharp gaze followed Dimitri’s quivering finger.
“... Oh.”
“Fel, what’s up? You’re supposed to be training with (F/N) right now.”
“Sylvain. You take care of this.” Felix slapped the note into the redhead’s chest. “I’ll be by her quarters. When she finally decides to come out, I’ll ask her then.”
Then he was gone.
Sylvain, brows furrowed, unraveled the piece of paper that was so roughly shoved into him; his nose crinkled slightly.
“These are just notes.”
“The top...”
“Huh? What--... Ohhh. I see.” Sylvain’s light, angelic chortle didn’t mesh with the devilish smirk on his lips. “Your Highness, by any chance... Have you got an extra suit on you?”
“Hm? Well, yes, but it’s reserved for very special occasions.”
“Does a date with the girl of your dreams not fit that category?”
“... Allow me to show you where I keep it.”
♠ ♥ ♣ ----------------------------------------------------------- ♣ ♥ ♠
Like a sailor heaving up a heavy sail battered by the ocean’s rageful tempest, you slowly hoisted your eyelids open with unimaginable difficulty. It felt like a bag of lead was tied to your eyelashes, keeping your eyes at a constant state of half-opened. You padded the soft, swollen flesh around your eyes and already knew the puffiness was there to stay-- at least for the rest of the day.
Two short knocks peppered your door and you very nearly chucked the closest item in your vicinity at it. You caught yourself, however, and face-planted into your damp pillow.
Two short knocks peppered your door as you sunk your face further into your cushion.
Two short knocks peppered your door as your anguish turned to ire.
Two short knocks--
“WHAT?!”
You had no memory of the actual journey from your bed to your door, but that didn’t matter much to you as you swung it open to face your grievance personified.
You caught Felix mid-knock and would have snapped his wrist if his knuckles dared to make contact with your door.
“What is it.” You croaked disdainfully.
“Wow. Aren’t you a sight for sore eyes.”
“Shut up. Just leave me alone.”
Your door was caught by your visitor’s firm yet gentle hold.
“Hang on. I... I’m sorry.” Felix swallowed thickly. “Today has been a pretty tough day for you.”
“Yeah. You’re right. Goodbye.”
“So,” Felix interjected, “spar with me.”
“What?”
“Let all your anger out on me. It’s not good to keep it inside.”
“That sounds strange, coming from you.”
“Trust me, it feels stranger saying it.” Felix grimaced. “Just... Please. Spar with me. Don’t let this fester inside you.”
He sounded almost pleadingly. A tiny portion of your heart swelled in gratitude towards the male; you stiffly wedged the door open.
“... Fine.”
The corners of Felix’s lips twitched upwards as you both headed for the training grounds.
♠ ♥ ♣ ----------------------------------------------------------- ♣ ♥ ♠
“We got the flowers!” Annette burst into the dining hall, waving the bouquet with glee. Mercedes shortly followed.
“I saw Felix and (F/N) head for the training grounds. He’ll keep her occupied for at least an hour or two.”
“Just enough time to roast a Faerhgus fowl.” Dedue commented, smiling slightly.
“Great! Well, I guess I’ll keep watch, so if you need me...” Sylvain slipped out of the dining hall and leaned his frame by the entrance, smiling and waving at passing females.
“Oh, and remember Your Highness,” a spike of red popped back in, “don’t forget you still need to get changed.”
“Got it. Thank you, Sylvain.”
“(F/N) and I were on kitchen duty last week, and she mentioned she loves (Favorite Soup)! We can cook that as well.” Ashe’s eyes shone brightly.
“I can bake some sweets!” Mercedes chimed in.
“E-Everyone, I’m afraid my skills in the kitchen are... less than spectacular. I’m afraid I will only hinder your progress...” Dimitri took a hesitant step out of the kitchen as he watched his classmates get to work.
“Nonsense, Your Highness.” Dedue reassured as he picked out a fowl. “We will guide you. May you please wash and cut the potatoes?”
“O-Of course!” Dimitri dunked a handful of the starchy tubers into a bowl of cool water and made sure no speck of impurity remained on its surface. With Ashe’s saint-like patience and Dedue’s constant monitoring, the royal succeeded in cutting the lumpy veggie into nice, even cubes.
“Great job, Your Highness! Now, can you peel the carrots while I prepare the soup?”
“With pleasure, Ashe.”
Dimitri took the small blade in his hand and carefully skinned the carrots’ rough exterior away, revealing the healthy shade of orange underneath. Dimitri’s confidence grew with each slightly whittled but clean carrot he handed to Ashe and Dedue, and he was silently celebrating the fact that he hadn’t--
... Crack!
All eyes flashed to the source of the sound.
Dimitri stared at the large, compromising splinter running down the length of the knife’s wooden handle; he looked up slowly.
“Er... Is there, perhaps, another one that I can use?”
“A-Actually Your Highness,” Ashe laughed awkwardly, gently taking the ruined blade from his hand and leading him to the bowl of soup, “can you watch the soup and make sure it doesn’t burn or anything?”
“Y-Yes... Um, I apologize for--”
“Do not worry, Your Highness.” Dedue’s monotone voice rang clearly. “It was an accident.”
“Yes, but now the kitchen staff has one less knife to work with...”
“A problem that we can fix the next time we go to town.” Ingrid assured, finally breaking from her food-induced stupor. The savory scents of roasted duck interwove with the hearty notes of (Favorite Soup), creating a mouthwatering song that entranced the gourmand; the delicate, feathery hint of sweets that Mercedes was concocting complemented the deep, earthy tones set by the three males.
“Would you like some, Ingrid?” Mercedes queried sweetly, holding up a small assortment of freshly baked goods. “I know how patiently you’ve been waiting for a sample.”
Ingrid almost lunged at the plate in the cleric’s hand.
“Y-Yes. Thank you, Mercedes. I am excited to taste your sweets.” Ingrid proceeded to not-so-graciously inhale half of the plate’s colorful contents.
“Ah! Ingrid, that was for everyone!”
“Oh!” Ingrid, mouth half-full with sweets, slammed the plate down on the table. “I-I am so sorry! I just, I got super excited and--”
“It is quite all right, Ingrid.” Dimitri replied, his eyes not leaving the softly boiling pot of liquid for a second.
“Please do not look so upset, Ingrid. I can always bake more!” Mercedes gave the aspiring blonde knight a light squeeze. “When we’re done, I can bake you a whole tray of sweets!”
“That would be lovely.” Ingrid smiled, still slightly chewing. “Thank you, Mercedes.”
“Ah, Ashe, it’s boiling quite a lot now. I think the soup is done.”
“Not yet! I haven’t added any seasoning.” Ashe hummed thoughtfully. “Actually... Would you like to add them, Your Highness?”
“I believe a sense of taste would be necessary to accomplish such a task... I, unfortunately, have none.”
“Ah, well,” Ashe looked at the row of spices neatly spread out, “you can still try though! Ingrid can taste test the dish, and she can tell you what you need to add.”
“I suppose that can work... Ingrid--”
“Yes, Your Highness?”
Dimitri and Ashe almost jumped at the closeness of her voice. Turning around, they saw the lass mere inches away from them with a childlike glow in her eyes.
“Ingrid, how did you--”
“I heard I was taste testing, so I came as soon as I could.”
The prince and archer shared glances with each other before the latter was called to assist Dedue. With a quick bow and a ‘good luck,’ Dimitri was left all alone save for a bubbling pot of soup and an overly-enthusiastic assistant.
“I think it would be wise for me to have a taste now so we can see what we still need to add.” Reported Ingrid dutifully.
“Ah, establishing a baseline. That’s a great idea.” Dimitri stepped out of the foodie’s way.
Ingrid grabbed a ladle and scooped a humble amount in its trough before pouring it into a small bowl. Her lips caught the edge of the bowl and she slurped its contents. She hummed thoughtfully, taking another sip.
“It’s all right, but painfully average... We need more of everything.”
“Everything?”
“Yes. Its flavors need to be boosted drastically. It’s not bland, just... underwhelming.”
“I see...” Dimitri cast a nervous glance at the row of spices. “I’m assuming these are the seasonings used to flavor the dish?”
“That is correct!” Piped Ashe from the oven.
“Let’s see here...” His hands danced over the vessels of flavor hesitantly. A bottle of fine, onyx-colored powder caught his eye and he checked the label-- black pepper. He popped open the cap and tapped a careful amount in. Ingrid stirred the pot and poured some more soup in her bowl.
“Mm, that added some much-needed flavor. Try salt this time.”
Dimitri gingerly set the pepper down and scoured the row of spices for the condiment. After he found the small bottle tucked away in the back, he unscrewed the lid and sprinkled in some salt.
“Add more. I can barely taste a difference.” Ingrid critiqued.
Dimitri did as he was told and sprinkled in some more, unsure of the intensity of the granulated whites.
“More, Your Highness. You can be a bit liberal with the salt here.”
“Got it.” Dimitri tilted the bottle and gently tapped its side.
Only for half of the bottle’s contents to fall in.
Dimitri blankly stared at the visible pile of salt floating on the surface of the soup, slowly disintegrating as it drifted further and further down to the bottom of the pot.
Then he was tossed into the five stages of grief all at once-- Ingrid riding that emotionally tumultuous ride with him.
“Your Highness!”
“Ashe!”
“W-What?! What happened?!”
“The salt!” The blondes screamed in terror.
“S-Salt?! What do you--” Then he saw the bottle of salt, previously filled to the brim, staring back at him half-empty. Without a moment to lose, he broke through the two and beelined for the pot. He seized the ladle, scooped up its murky contents, and gave it a large swig.
His eyes shot open in horror and his face paled several sheets of white. He dropped the ladle, wetting the surrounding area with the toxic liquid, and stumbled back onto the counter. Gripping his pants until his knuckles turned as pasty as his cheeks, he forced down the soup with a gag.
“Water...” He flung himself onto the mortified prince, his eyes tearing up. “Water...!!!”
“I got you, Ashe!” Ingrid came swooping in with a cup of the aqua panacea; the archer snagged the cup from Ingrid and chugged it all, not letting a single drop go to waste.
“What happened?” Dedue finally arrived, his head absolutely spinning from the pandemonium that ensued from across the kitchen. Mercedes came running as well, almost dropping the tray of freshly baked desserts from her hands.
“W-Well, His Highness--”
“It’s all my fault,” Dimitri stepped forward, head hung low, “I was only trying to add a little bit more salt, but then I ended up pouring half the bottle. Then Ashe went to taste it, and, well...”
All eyes went to Ashe, who was still recovering from that whole... experience.
“It,” he sputtered,”it tastes like sea water.”
“Ashe, I am so, so sorry. Is there any way I can make this up to you?”
“Get out of my kitchen I-It’s all right, Your Highness... But um... I really don’t think we can serve this to (F/N). It tastes... unpleasant. Very unpleasant.”
“I understand...” Dimitri sighed, forlornly looking at the pot of failure. “Curses! I’m sure (F/N) would have loved it, if only I--”
“Your Highness. There is no need to linger on what has come to pass. We can still cook up a wonderful meal.” Dedue’s even voice steadied the prince. “We do not have much time left. Let us make haste.”
It was all hands on-deck from thereon. While Ashe was temporarily out of commission, the rest of the Lions present did everything in their power to compensate for lost time and dish. As Dimitri busied himself with dicing and rinsing vegetables for a simple salad, everyone else was bouncing around ideas that could possibly substitute the soup.
“I was in town the other day, and I heard one of the merchants talk about this pastry called ‘garlic bread.’“ Annette remarked.
“‘Garlic bread?’“ The Duscur man repeated questioningly.
“Yeah! From what I remember it sounds very easy to make, and we seem to have all the ingredients.”
“And those are?”
“Hmm... Adrestian Butter, bread, powdered Gautier Cheese, powdered garlic, and dried parsley.”
As Annette recounted the recipe to the best of her abilities, Ashe wobbled back to the kitchen with a few of Mercedes’ samples popped in his mouth.
“If you need an extra hand, I’d be happy to help!” He turned to the healer. “And Mercedes, these taste absolutely delightful! Eating them makes me feel all re-energized.”
“I’m always happy to help!” She smiled sweetly, dunking and scrubbing away the dirt on some pots and pans. Dimitri’s eyes widened.
“Ashe, are you certain you’re okay? I don’t want you pushing yourself too hard...”
“I’ll be fine, Your Highness! And besides, Mercedes’ sweets completely washed away the taste of your soup! ... Er, no offense.”
“None taken.”
“... And then we just pop them in the oven, and wait until the edges turn brown.”
“How convenient.” Dedue’s mouth turned up slightly. “I’m sure (F/N) and His Highness will like these.”
“They look quite scrumptious in there...” Ingrid licked her lips greedily. “Hopefully they don’t take too long... Hey, has anyone seen Sylvain? Last I heard he was on guard duty, but he could have run off with some girl at any time.”
“I’m still here,” called a voice from outside, “Ingrid, your lack of faith in me stings! Do you really think I’d be that calloused towards His Highness’s cause?”
“Yes.” Ingrid answered plainly.
“Yowch. That hurt.” Sylvain grimaced. “By the way Your Highness, we--”
. . .
“Sylvain?”
“You guys!” Sylvain came tumbling in, hysteria marring his smug features. “They’re coming!”
An unintelligible gurgle of surprise left the Lions’ throats and they drove to plate and add last minute details to their dishes. Dedue whipped out the duck and Ingrid the garlic bread, followed by a whole parade line of baked treats brought out by Annette and Ashe. Poor Mercedes, finishing up the last spoon in the sudsy basin, was suddenly bombarded with every plate, bowl, utensil, and pan in the kitchen-- not to mention The Pot of Poison. Dimitri set the wooden bowl that carried his salad on the table and he was instantly teleported away to a secluded section outside the dining hall. Sylvain carefully pulled out Dimitri’s finely decorated suit from under a brush, swatting away the little pebbles and specks of dirt that happened upon the fabric.
“It’s a good thing I kept the suit here. Imagine us running back to your quarters to change.”
“Thank you for thinking ahead, Sylvain.” Dimitri’s eyes flitted about him nervously. “I feel rather embarrassed changing out here in the open though...”
“We’re running out of time, Your Highness! Don’t worry, I’ll, uh, cover you.”
Dimitri shot him a grateful look and threw off his cape, which Sylvain caught and held up in a weak attempt to cover his friend. Dimitri chucked off his gloves and shimmied out of his boots; he then lifted the hem of his shirt past his neck and made quick work of his pants, shuffling and kicking the fabric away from him.
“Oh Goddess, they’re coming down this way! Quick, hide!”
“What?! Where?!”
“Uhh...!!!” Dimitri and Sylvain looked to and fro, their heart rate and cortisol levels reaching new heights. Behind the tree? No, the tree is hardly thick enough to cover the prince. The brush? Nah, it’s too small for a full grown man. No, no, he can’t run to the other side of the building, everyone will see his... parts. Sylvain pushed the bewildered Dimitri onto his knees, threw the tarp over him, and sat squarely on his back.
“Sylvain--?!”
“Hey hey hey, Fel and (Your Nickname)! Sooo, how was training?”
“Ah, well, y’know,” you answered back weakly, “tough.”
“Ah-hah! I see, I see!”
“Sylvain... What are you sitting on?” Felix’s eyes rested severely on the... quivering? quivering why was it quivering lump holding the male up. Sylvain looked down, then up, then down, then up, and chuckled nervously.
“Oh, y’know! It’s uh... It’s uh, a rock.”
“... A rock?”
“Yeah! Good ol’ rock here. Conveniently shaped too, y’know.” He patted something that felt a bit too round to just be Dimitri’s back; the two men quietly let out screams of the damned and Sylvain made a mental note to burn his hand off later.
“Huh... It does look quite comfy.” You mumbled, eyeing the spot where Sylvain just patted.
Please don’t sit here please don’t sit here please don’t sit here plea--
“Would you mind if I sat down for a bit?”
“Not at all.” Sylvain answered automatically, winking. It was in that moment that he truly regretted his playboy tendencies, and actually seriously considered change for a split second.
“Great!” You skipped (more like limped) over to the silently screaming male(s). With a huff from you, Dimitri promptly felt something soft nestle into his rump; a portion of his soul disconnected from the mortal plane, never to be seen again.
“This... rock... feels kinda...” You shuffled in your ‘seat’ a bit. “soft.”
“A-A rock?! Soft?! Ha ha ha, don’t be silly, (F/N)!”
“And... This looks like Dimitri’s cape, does it not?”
“W-Why in the world would I have His Highness’s cape?”
“Well, that’s true... But, why would you put a piece of cloth on a rock like this?”
Sylvain just stopped working.
A good five seconds of silence ensued before the male finally found his tongue.
“Why wouldn’t you put a piece of cloth on a rock?”
“Well, if it’s an attempt to make the rock more comfortable, wouldn’t it make more sense to just... sit on the grass instead?”
“I mean, you’re right, but that doesn’t mean I can’t spread a blanket on a rock for my own personal comfort, right?”
The throbbing in your head only worsened as you tried to comprehend this man’s logic.
“Um... sure.” You stood up. “I’m gonna go freshen myself up a bit before I head to dinner. See you later, Sylvain.”
“Y-Yeah! Of course! Catch ya later!”
Sylvain waved you and the very confused Felix goodbye and eagerly watched you leave. After making sure that you two left and no one else was nearby, Sylvain slowly leaned over.
“Your Highness--”
Dimitri shot up like a man reborn, shocking the redhead off him and wheezing for air.
“I couldn’t... B-Breathe...”
“Sorry about that, Your Highness...” Sylvain accidentally made eye contact with The Hand and he immediately gagged. “Let’s not... talk about what happened here. Ever.”
“Agreed.”
Both men sighed deeply.
“Well, you heard her. She’s gonna freshen up a bit before she goes to dinner so there’s no rush now. ... Well, you’d still probably like to rush a bit, since you’re currently in your briefs.”
“Thanks, Sylvain.” Dimitri grumbled, slipping his achy legs into the high-quality fabric and buttoning up his shirt. He readjusted the crooked pins and small medals that adorned his breast and smoothed away any wrinkles.
“You’re lookin’ snazzy, Your Highness.” Sylvain chuckled. “Now we just gotta fix up your hair a bit.”
“My hair? It looks fine though, does it not?”
“Yeah, sure, it looks fine but that’s about it. C’mon, think about it! You wear the exact same hairstyle day in and day out. We gotta give it more of a ‘wow’ factor.” Sylvain’s brows furrowed deeply as he studied Dimitri’s face closely. “... Y’know, this might just work.”
“Huh? S-Sylvain, what are you--?”
“Trust me, Your Highness. (F/N)’s gonna love it!”
With a quick swipe of his hand, Sylvain flipped Dimitri’s bangs onto one side of his face. Sylvain took a step back and crossed his arms, satisfied.
“Woo, now that’s a prince!” Sylvain whistled.
“D-Do I really look... princely?”
“Always have, buddy.” Sylvain threw an arm around Dimitri’s shoulder. “But right now? The princeliest of princes.”
Dimitri’s eyes crinkled happily and he bowed deeply to his dear friend.
“I thank you, Sylvain. From the bottom of my heart... thank you.”
“H-Hey now.” Sylvain laughed, cheeks reddening. “No need for all that! I’m just doing what I can to help you with this. You deserve to be happy, Deems.”
Dimitri smiled in response and ran his fingers through his hair.
“Ready, Your Highness?”
“Ready.”

Behind the Translation - “The Blue Lion House”
The Blue Lion House - La Casa del León Azul
There are a couple things I wanted to point out before totally beginning talking about the character introductions here.
First is that the Blue Lion’s route is known as Luna Añil which is the way they translated “Azure Moon”. Literally, Luna Añil is “Indigo Moon”. My guess is that they did it because azul is “blue” and is the closest word to “azure” in English, but there was already the “blue lions”.
The next point is something I’ll probably repeat for the other houses, but something I’ve noticed is that in Spanish when talking about surnames or what noble house someone comes from, they use de. For example, in the Blue Lions he says el barón de Dominic or el conde de Galatea while in English it’s “Baron Dominic” and “Count Galatea”.
The reason for this is that it was quite common in European society to have some kind of “nobiliary particle” which are things like de or von or other particles that mean “of”. What’s interesting (and easier to understand) is that many of the territories in Fodlan are where the certain families are situated... so there is a Dominic territory and a Galatea territory. It’s both a toponym [a name derived from a place], but also used to show specifically from what noble house someone is from. Other characters (mostly the commoners) don’t have these nobiliary particles because you wouldn’t expect them to.
Another fun historical nod is that “Holy Kingdom of Faerghus” is translates as el Sacro Reino de Faerghus. If you ever see the word sacro in Spanish it’s typically when you’re talking about el Sacro Imperio Romano “the Holy Roman Empire”, so that’s a nice touch
- - - - -
Dimitri
“You want to know more about me? Forgive me... It isn’t easy to improvise to talk about oneself. [something like “it isn’t easy to talk about oneself without preparation”]
Let’s say that my life has not been an easy road. I hope that doesn’t influence your opinion of me, but it it does I would understand.”
Personal Ability [Habilidad característica which is like “characteristic ability” or “unique skill”] - “Royal Lineage” - The unit gains 20% more experience.
[fuese is more common in Spain nowadays but that’s imperfect subjunctive; “if it were so/thus, I would understand” is sort of how it sounds]
- - -
Dedue
“Dedue comes from the Duscur region and has been working faithfully in my service for four years.
Despite his taciturn appearance, when you talk to him you’ll realize that he’s a pleasant and good-hearted young man.”
Personal Skill - “Loyal Squire” - If the unit does not act and uses the “Wait” option, grants Defense +4 for 1 turn.
- - -
Felix [I guess they’re treating it as a loanword but I did expect Félix with the accent mark]
“Felix is the heir of House Fraldarius. He might seem somewhat caustic [lit. “acid/acidic”] with his words, but deep down, he’s kind.
He is always looking to go up against [lit. “measure himself against”] capable rivals. Why don’t you compete [probably “spar”] with him some time?”
Personal Ability - “Lone Wolf” - If the unit does not fight with a battalion, or if it [the battalion] does not have any troops, +5 to damage inflicted
- - -
Ashe
“He’s the adoptive son of Lord Lonato, from the castle Gaspard, but I understand [lit. “I have understood”, something like “I have come to understand” or “I have it on good authority”] that he comes from a commoner family.
Seldom have I met anyone as driven [lit. “applied” or “earnest”]. I know he will attend classes with great enthusiasm.”
Personal Skill - “Locksmith” - Allows the unit to open doors and chests without needing keys.
- - -
Sylvain
“He’s the heir of House Gautier. He goes out of his way for his friends, although that said...
He’s an incorrigible seducer. Every day I talk with him about the matter, but my words seem to fall on deaf ears.”
[The word in English Dimitri uses is “skirt-chaser” which would be something like persiguefaldas so not totally applicable. I understand why they didn’t go for calling him a Don Juan but still, “seducer” feels maybe not right?]
Personal Skill - “Gynephilia” - If there’s an allied female unit adjacent, +2 to damage inflicted and -2 to damage suffered.
[Probably the funniest translation; in English it’s “philanderer” which I would say is more like mujeriego “womanizer”. But ginefilia is literally “attraction to women”, so it just sounds like his skill is “I LOVE WOMEN”]
- - -
Mercedes
“I understand that she comes from a noble family in the Empire, but that, by the whims of fate, she came to rest [lit. “came to a stop”] in the Kingdom.
Although she may seem carefree, the truth is that she’s tremendously friendly and worries about everyone.”
[Maybe the most flowery translation so far, los avatares del destino is often like “the whims of fate” or “a series of coincidences”, but more literally it’s “the avatars of destiny” or “the arbiters of fate”.]
Personal Ability - “Live to serve” - Upon using white magic to heal an ally, the unit recovers the same number of HP.
[PV is HP; literally puntos de vida or “life points”]
- - -
Annette
“Annette is the niece of the Baron of Dominic. She is very good at her studies [lit. “her studies suit her well”]; not for nothing, she earned extraordinary grades/marks in the school of magic.
She’s always in a good mood and is very hardworking, but sometimes she displays a certain awkwardness/clumsiness. Last night, without getting too much into it, she caused an explosion in the kitchen.”
[In English it’s “Royal School of Sorcery” which would be something like la Escuela/Academia Real de Hechicería... it sounds somehow more ordinary in Spanish like she was just at “magic school”]
Personal Ability - “Perseverance” - When powering up an ally, grants Strength +4.
[potenciarse is understood here as the translation for “rally”, but literally it’s “to grant power to”. Also Fue is understood as the abbreviation for Fuerza “strength”]
- - -
Ingrid
“Ingrid is the daughter of the Count of Galatea and childhood friend of Felix, Sylvain and myself.*
She is [lit. “she has to do with” or “she embodies”] a very resolute and earnest young woman, with very solid moral values. She has more leadership qualities than many knights.**”
**In English it’s “she’s more knightly than most knights” which I would personally have translated as ella es más caballeresca que la mayoría de los caballeros, or tiene más de caballero que la mayoría de los caballeros.
Personal Ability - “Lady Knight” - Grants Damage+3 and Hit+5 in gambits.
[lit. tácticas is “tactics” but it’s the translation of the term “gambits” in this game]

Oh! Um... I’m extremely flattered that you would want to marry me, but erm. Perhaps we should get to know each other better first..? But that is a very interesting and unique skill, I must admit. Such abilities would be a good fit for our house. Well then, welcome to the Blue Lions. We look forward to working with you.

Fire Emblem: Three Houses - Azure Moon
After 65-66 hours of gameplay, I finally finished the Blue Lions route. So, here are my thoughts about it.
After teaching the Golden Deers house, the Blue Lions felt a little bit rigid when the game started. Dimitri, Dedue and Ingrid were very formal and polite, sometimes even a little bit cold. Let’s not speak about Felix, who really didn’t give a damn about anything else besides sword fighting.
On the other hand, we had Annette, Ashe and Mercedes who were as sweet as a bag of sugar. I did engage more easily with them than the others. Actually, Mercedes was my first support and it was a very cute one. So, how can you not love them? And Sylvain is a special case, he happily walked between funny and friendly, although we got to see as well a couple of supports when the anger about his past took over him.
My favorite to train was Felix. Just wow. I think not even my Leonie in the Golden Deer route developed abilities as fast as Felix did. Ingrid was a special surprise because her battle abilities started to grow fast when we got together after the time skip and I started to acknowledge her as a very reliable soldier. Another one was Ashe, my experience with Ignatz in the Golden Deer route was a little disappointing so I wasn’t expecting much about Ashe, but damn, the boy just went and took his rightful place in my “first choice” group since I started Azure Moon.
About my supports, my F!Byleth had seven options to choose her S Support and my choice actually ended up being Sylvain. My Byleth gained this popularity because I did spend time to take back the lost items to their owners and tried to do a lot of extra activities with them, that I did learnt having played another route before. Curiosities about the supports? I was a little bit unsure about picking Sylvain, his A support with Ingrid tells us he really likes her. Of all the supports the one I loved the most was the one between Felix and Annette (I’m shipping them. That’s true love), but at the end of the route the game paired up Annette with Ashe and Felix with Ingrid.
Another thing I did, because of my past experience in the game, was to try to get more students from the Black Eagles and Golden Deer into my class. I successfully recruited Dorothea, Linhardt and Lysithea. In the end, Linhardt and Dorothea were adjutants, but Lysithea and her Gremory skills were irreplaceable in battle.
When I played the last battle in Verdant Wind, Nemesis was quite the challenge, I had to play twice to defeat him. Now, the final battle was really hard with all the soldiers, monsters and mages I had to defeat in order to fight against Hegemon Edelgard (I had to play twice to get to her), but once you go to battle her directly she was...very easy to defeat. As I did battle Nemesis before I was expecting something as hard as that, but thankfully it wasn’t. After 20-something turns I was getting exhausted, for sure.
And that’s it. I did say a lot, haha. Now, I’ll take a couple of days before I start with the Black Eagles route and decide if I’ll go with Crimson Flower or Silver Snow.

Memory 16 : The King’s Secret
Part 3/6
Written by TK, Illustrated by me
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
The injury was nothing noteworthy, really. Even a smidgeon of the flower’s potential was sufficient for a speedy and painless recovery, but that was besides the point. He couldn’t reveal his secret to Toriel, and discussing the matters at hand within the castle seemed too risky. The one place where they wouldn’t be looking for them would be their hideout around the garbage. After all, what kind of King would hang around junk with two weirdo bears?
“... So that’s it then. I will be King now, he’s no fucking use!” Ömen blurted, pacing around angrily around Asgore. “What kind of chance does he have if he can’t even pinch his attacker?”
“It’s not like that! I can still be King! I-I can defend myself!” Asgore paced around Ömen as well.
“Oh yeah, How? Are you gonna ask them politely to stop, and start giving out hugs?”
The only one not pacing around at that moment was Shaa, who seemed content to lay on a dirty mattress between the two restless monsters, indifferent to their bickering, but attentive nonetheless. It was his old mattress. It was in pretty bad shape, but it’d served him well for quite some time in the past. It was also the one thing in that room that didn’t stink of Ömen.
“Alright, look. If I’m King, I’ll still let you call the shots alright? You and Toriel can keep your room, and do all that other cute shit you guys do yeah? So? What do you say?”
“I can’t! They’d come after you instead of me! They’d lose trust in all of us! They’d… They’d wonder what happened for such a weird decision to take place! Rumors… They… They’ll spread rumors and they’ll all know! They-”
“What does it matter? I’ll kick all their asses!”
“You could get hurt, brother!” Asgore begged.
“NO! YOU could get hurt! I dedicated my whole life from the moment you freed us to make damn sure NOTHING would ever happen to you! Up there, down here, everywhere! I made a promise, that I intend to fucking keep!” Ömen had ceased pacing and now stood face-to-face inches away from the horned monster, as they both so affectionately traded spittle... and glares.
“I am not a child, I can take care of myself! I’m not King for no reason, I nearly killed you back at the Savannah!”
“And look at you now! You couldn’t even hurt a fly if you wanted to!”
“Why did you do it?” once more, the calm mediator stepped in to make sure things did not heat up too dramatically. Shaa stood up on his filthy, ragged mattress he called “his bed”. They both turned their heads towards him, but his gaze was elsewhere. Sometimes it was hard to tell what went on inside the polar bear’s own head, when his gaze was simply a deep homogenous blue.
“Can you stop doing that?” Ömen scoffed at his other half
“Only after you stop yelling.” Shaa bit back.
Ömen flared his noses in a disgruntled snort.
“...Ugh. Fine, whatever.” the greater half scoffed once more, arms crossed and facing away from his two siblings.
“Well then, why did you do it Asgore?”
“I… I don’t think I... “ he struggled to garner the strength to find the words appropriate to his feelings. Ironically, he found he was still capable of fighting himself. Not physically, but with his own thoughts, his own feelings. Incapable of scarring the flesh of others, he now turned to scarring his own mind. Mental scars can’t be healed by a fleur saignante.
“Well?” Shaa probed.
“I was so… Afraid. Afraid of hurting you guys again… Of hurting Toriel, or Sofia… Honoré. That night at the lions’ home, I don’t think I’ll ever be able to forgive myself for it. I’d lost control but… I could still see and hear. I saw what I did to you, to Toriel…” He’d now sat down in front of his thin white familiar. Arms resting at the knees and gazing down. Despite his best efforts and flowing golden mane, he did still resemble a child, even if unintentionally. In the end, he’d never truly experienced the golden years of his youth - that sacred bliss of innocence - having spent most of it on the run or in pain. Now that the cards had adjusted themselves into a neat house, that spark of naiveté flared within him, becoming a kindle.
“...that’s how I remembered your tattoos, your power, Shaa. For so long I’d wished for peace, I’d dreamed of home. I saw my true power that night with the lions, but it was pure violence... I wondered if I could only use that power to make dreams come true… So I focused on my dream of… Harmony. I pictured before me what those buttons you talked about would’ve looked like and… They just appeared… So I destroyed it, I destroyed my fight… Button.”
Both the bears simply listened unquestioning to his confession, his supplication for understanding, however, both still had difficulty in abstracting from what Asgore’d said. Perhaps it made sense that when describing the destruction of something as otherworldly and intangible as “your fight button”, the only person in the room to fully grasp it is the speaker. Ömen rose an eyebrow in incredulity, whilst Shaa merely pondered the consequential intricacies of such an act by his brother. It did not take long for him to reach his verdict.
“Perhaps, it IS best if Ömen becomes King.” He pronounced.
“Finally someone listens!” he laughed in satisfaction, slapping his stomach. “Alright, let’s go tell the others.”
“Wait! No, this can’t be the only way!” he promptly jumped back on his feet, placing himself between Ömen and the exit of their hideout. “Listen to me, I can do it, just listen!”
The grizzly had enough, his patience had been tried sufficiently. First, it was the walks, then it was the taunting, then the “button” thing. Now he still needs to listen to this? No, he’d had enough of it. He grabbed Asgore by his shoulders, and pressed his muzzle against his, a streak of seriousness finally washing over him
“No. Leave this to me. I must protect you.” he growled.
“What about our fight just ten minutes ago? What if I… Just dodged all the attackers, what if I-” he could not get his point across without being cut off by his large teddy of a brother.
“Do you think dodging will solve all your problems? DO YOU THINK I DIDN’T TRY THAT ALREADY?! IN THE ARENA?! IF I HAD STUCK TO THAT, SHAA WOULD BE DEAD AND SO WOULD YOU!!! I MUST PROTECT YOU, I MUST PROTECT YOU SHA-” his berating quickly turned into an incoherent rambling, so, the serene voice intruded again.
“That’s enough Ömen. It’s not your fault.”
The grip around Asgore was now a grapple more like, and small beads of tears had started to appear on the bear’s eyes before he finally let go and stumbled back, before sitting down on the mattress besides his brother. Shaa continued
“But the point still stands, I do not see how you would be able to defend yourself or those around you with your ability to fight removed entirely from your essence.”
“That’s what I was trying to tell Ömen - what if I don’t need to fight to defeat my opponents? What if I became so quick and dexterous they could not even place a finger on me? You saw my fight with Ömen! He was nearly out of breath by the time he smashed his face on your forcefield!” Asgore replied.
“You can’t.” the grizzly calmly stated, submerged in his process of calming down. “You don’t have the reflexes and swiftness to achieve that kind of perfection. That’s the stuff of machines, and you’re simply a monster.”
“I’m not giving up that easily!” Asgore stomped. Fists clenched. Though now clenching fists meant very little since, well, you’ve read far enough into the story to get it.
“What if you trained him to be a machine, brother?” Shaa proposed to his greater half.
“What ?”
“He’s no machine, but you are the Royal Engineer. If there is someone with mastery and knowledge of mechanics it’s you. What if instead of crafting a machine with nuts and bolts, you crafted a machine out of soul and flesh… That is, what if you could turn Asgore in an evasion machine. You’re also an expert brawler, those two skills could complement one another and help him.” Shaa explained.
“Well… I won’t say it is impossible because… I mean Asgore achieved the “impossible” already with his button shit, so… It’s not impossible, but it won’t be fucking easy.”
“I don’t need it to be easy.” Asgore defied him “I can do it.”
The air of the hideout grew still, the polar bear sensed that fiery glow of the boss monster’s soul in the pitch black of the surrounding ether. The grizzly could see the shimmer of the amber and azure in his brother’s eyes. Asgore might have been foolish, naive and somewhat ill-directed at times, but if there was one quality he undoubtedly possessed, it was determination.
“Then let’s go.” Ömen stood up.

Dancer Class Advices
Who to avoid
Characters who are not available on a certain route should not partake in the White Heron Cup if you plan to play that particular route. (Duh!) These are as follows:
Flayn on Crimson Flower
Edelgard on Silver Snow
Hubert on Silver Snow
There are also characters who will have to be re-recruited after the time skip and they only appear several chapters in, meaning you can make them your dancer, but you won’t have access to them for 2-4 chapters. These are:
Dedue
Ashe on Silver Snow & Verdant Wind
Lorenz on Silver Snow & Azure Moon
Dedue is a special case. If you did not complete his paralogue during the school phase he will not return to you at all.
Things to consider when choosing a dancer
There are pros and cons to every character but it ultimately comes down to what your average combat situation looks like.
If your dancer is used purely for support and kept out of trouble most of the time their bulk does not matter.
But if you need your dancer to take multiple hits because you throw them into the thick of battle along with your best units you might want to use somebody with decent bulk or avoid. Mind that the dancer class has -5% growth rates in Str, Def and Res.
If your dancer spends a lot of time trying to catch up to the rest of the party, because you have only horses and fliers, using a unit with long range attacks or assists might be a good idea. However, that issue can be avoided by equipping your dancer with a March Ring and giving them the Shoes of the Wind stat booster.
Relevant Skills & Stats
Swords - The dancer class grants bonus experience to Swords, the Sword Avo +20 Skill and the Sword Dance combat art, making them the weapon of choice. Moreover, it’s the only weapon they will make a little dance with after a kill or level up.
Authority - The other skill this class gives an experience bonus to. The lowered growth rates make equipping a strong battalion a good idea. In case you want to equip your dancer with one of the dancer battalions, the Opera Co. Volunteers require a B rank and the Blue Lion Dancers an A rank.
Faith/Reason - Dancers can use magic and if a class can use magic you should consider utilizing it. Some of the utility spells in Faith can give the dancer an opportunity to do something even when they cannot reach an ally in that turn. Physic, first and foremost.
Riding - Upon reaching an A+ in Riding you get the Movement +1 Ability. This is useful to patch up the previously mentioned movement problem in the late game.
Charm - A character needs at least 13 Charm to win the White Heron Cup. Beyond that, a dancer needs Charm for 2 things: avoiding Gambits and Sword Dance. Getting hit by a Gambit means the dancer won’t be able to move, which is something you should avoid at all cost. You get 5 Gambit Avoid for every point of charm you have. The value of Charm increases with difficulty. The damage of Sword Dance scales off of Charm. Don’t fret about this too much, though, since you probably want to dance most of the time anyway.
The Candidates
Flayn - Squishy type (below 40 Spd growth and at least one poor defensive stat). The original “I don’t know what to do with them so I might as well make them a dancer“ character. Has a talent in Faith and a budding talent in Reason. Boosting her movement by leveling Riding will prove difficult since she has a weakness in it. Might need some stat boosters to patch up her middling Spd. But has the highest Res in the game. And a pretty high Charm, too. You could give her a Levin Sword and go Sword Dance on the opponents’ collective assess. Oh, wait, we were supposed to be dancing.
Black Eagles:
Edelgard - Balanced type (40 or above Spd growth with good defenses). Has bonkers stat growths, therefore the -5% to Str/Def/Res don’t hurt her too much. Has talents in Swords, Authority and Reason. Personally, I’m biased against Armored classes due to their bad movement, cruddy Spd and Res, so I’d say her unique endgame class should be changed for something more worthwhile. Dancer is a valid option.
Dorothea - Speedy type (40 or above Spd growth with at least one poor defensive stat). Tailored to be a dancer, with talents in Swords and Magic. Her budding talent gives her White Magic Avo +20 and she learns Physic for that ranged heal in case she can’t dance. Has a weakness in Riding, though.
Ferdinand - Speedy type. Has a talent in Swords. His personal skill gives him Avo +15 at full HP. His talent in Riding can make it easier to get that +1 Movement ability. The ability to use magic is wasted on this guy. But he 11/10 wants the job just so he can do the Sword Dance.
Linhardt - Balanced type. Has a talent for both types of magic and comes with Physic. Not a bad choice in terms of overall stats, except for his horrendous Charm. May be better off as your main healer.
Petra - Speedy type. Oh, boy, is she! Has a talent in Swords. But also a weakness in both types of magic and her stats reflect that, both offensively and defensively. So, that’s wasted potential there.
Hubert - Speedy type. Talent in Reason and Authority. Weakness in Faith. Great Res. Probably your main magic nuke and would likely hate you for making him a dancer.
Bernadetta - Speedy type. Weakness in Swords but a budding talent in Riding, which gives her Pass. Learns Physic (with a 20% Mag growth, PFFFT!). ngl I’d just let her stay in her room and forget about her.
Caspar - Speedy type. Weakness in Magic and Authority. No relevant talents. Cruddy Charm stat. He’s bad but he’s bad at everything else, too. (This is going to be a trend with the “Heavy” of each house.)
Blue Lions:
Dimitri - Speedy type. Has a talent in Swords and Authority but a weakness in Reason (and magic in general). A little more hurt by the negative growths of the class since his Res is already bad. Budding talent in Riding. He might be better off as your main damage dealer, though, because he’s such a beast and the movement of his unique class is at least okay.
Felix - Speedy type. Talent in Swords and a budding talent in Reason (though his Mag growth isn’t all that great), but weak in Authority and his Charm is below average. You’ll likely want to equip him with his Relic, which means you cannot equip him with the March Ring.
Sylvain - Balanced type. Has a budding talent in Reason from which he gets Black Magic Avo +20 (his Mag growth is below average, however). Talent in Riding. Learns Physic. Amazing color scheme. “This is what a real man looks like.“
Ingrid - Balanced type. Has a talent in Swords and Riding and comes with Physic. High Charm. Great pick due to above-average defenses and godly Spd. She doesn’t hit all that hard anyway.
Ashe - Speedy type. No relevant talents. Bad Charm stat. Physic. Looks adorable. You are better off giving him a bow and putting him on a pony.
Annette - Squishy type. Talent in Reason and Authority. Makes an okay dancer in my experience but you should keep her out of harm’s way.
Mercedes - Squishy type. With great Res. Talented in both types of Magic but weakness in Swords. Learns Physic. She’s better off as your healer.
Dedue - Meh type. Weakness in Faith and Riding. Highest Def among all characters but abysmally slow. His Res is horrible and so is his Charm. If you want to make him a dancer then, ironically, this wall of a man will have to stay in the back most of the time so he won’t get picked off by bird men with jazz hands.
Golden Deer:
Claude - Speedy type. Has a talent in Swords and Authority but weakness in Faith. His personal skill gives him Pass. Best personal endgame class! Why would you want him to be anything else? He looks great as a dancer? Fair point. Has a ridiculous Charm stat, second only to Edelgard.
Lorenz - Balanced type. Talent in Reason and Riding. Has the same defenses as Ingrid but trades Luck and Spd for HP and better offenses. i.e. he won’t dodge as often but is pretty durable. Makes up for lack of Charm with excessive tea parties. Gets disowned over losing the dance competition.
Ignatz - Speedy type. Talent in Swords and Authority and budding talent in Reason. Learns Physic. His Charm is pretty bad. I had trouble even promoting the guy.
Lysithea - Speedy type. Has talents in both types of Magic, Authority and a budding talent in Swords. However, her Charm stat reflects her personality. Better off as a magic nuke. I mean, how else are you going to collect those Dark Seals?
Marianne - Speedy type. With great Res. Talented in Swords, Faith and Riding. Comes with Physic. Has a sword Relic. Has good Charm. Not a bad choice but, admittedly, looks 60% better as a Gremory. (That dark blue dress looks so nice!)
Leonie - Speedy type. Talent in Riding and learns Physic. Statwise, very similar to Petra. Her Mag and Res are horrendous. More Charm-ing than people will give her credit for. Still wants to bang my dad, probably.
Hilda - Speedy type. Weakness in Faith and Authority. No relevant talents. Bad with magic. Highest Charm stat of all non-lord characters. A delicate maiden who should really just cheer on her class mates from the sidelines and is totally not better off being sat on a flying lizard to one-shot people.
Raphael - Meh type. Weakness in Reason and Riding. No relevant talents. Statwise similar to Dedue.
Conclusion
For Black Eagles my top picks are Dorothea, Edelgard or Ferdinand. For Blue Lions definitely Ingrid. Followed by Sylvain or Felix. And for Golden Deer I’d honestly go with Flayn. But for students I’d pick either Lorenz, Marianne or Hilda.

Master Tactician
When Fire Emblem: Three Houses was released, I was incredibly eager to pick it up after work. In hindsight, perhaps I should have pre-ordered the Switch game considering that Nintendo hardly ever releases such titles with a good number of copies. Or maybe Nintendo was just a bit too good at marketing the title and so every single person along with their mothers wanted the game. Whatever the cause behind the lack of stock for the game (it appears that Astral Chain has also encountered the same problem), I had to run all around the central business district of Sydney to find myself a copy. In fact, I was desperate enough to sink some money into Nintendo eShop wallet funds (because I was also trading in a couple of games) if it was all sold out.
Lady Luck, though, was on my side and I managed to nab my own personal copy. Once I arrived home, I started up my Switch and began playing in earnest.
Selecting a house proved a difficult affair. While I was drawn to the sexy eye-patch wearing Dimitri (he’s mine Erica Lindbeck Celica! Mine!), I thought to play against type. Fire Emblem Heroes proved to be no help. The only one I managed to summon was Byleth. After discussing the lords of each house, I finally settled on Claude and the Golden Deer. They seemed the most balanced of the three houses and I also thought it would be a good chance to select the lord that was depicted upside down on the box art. Forget Almyra, Claude would be the future king of memes.
Almost immediately, I began to fall in love with the students from the three different houses. Whether it was Caspar’s enthusiasm to Ingrid’s obsession with chivalry and Dorothea’s flirtatious means of survival. As a consequence, throughout the first part of the game, I tried to make everyone like me. I gifted presents, ate plenty of meals, sang with the choir and fished until everyone had been recruited to the Golden Deer. The most difficult one I had was Ferdinand. It was not until Chapter Twelve that I managed the convince the heir of House Aegir to join my noble cause.Even post time-skip, I was striving hard to eat with my students to improve their motivation and ensuring that their goals would allow them to pass their master certification exams.
Unlike previous Fire Emblem games, units were not promoted along a set path. Instead, depending on their mastery of certain skills, a unit could jump from myrmidon to archer. Or from cavalier to fortress knight.
For those that have played the handheld entries, the gameplay of Fire Emblem: Three Houses is very much the same. Except, of course, there is no weapon triangle. After years of learning that sword beats axe, lance beats sword, and axe beats lance, it took a while to adjust to the new abilities and combat arts (although once you reach Grade B in the three different weapons skills, units are able to learn axe breaker, sword breaker and lance breaker - a homage, perhaps, to weapon triangle that we had all become conditioned to). Other than these minor changes, every battle involved activating the danger zone and positioning units to maximise their survival. Each round, I’d have my tanks out front with the mages and archers safely out of danger. Most occasions, they would wait as I baited foes. Other times, they would use an item or trade with characters adjacent to them. Once I had unlocked the dancer class, I’d have Dorothea encourage Hilda, Lysithea or Byleth so that I could wreak havoc against the opposing force.
But let’s now return to the story. Fire Emblem: Three Houses borrows much from Genealogy of the Holy War. While I never played the title, my friend would often describe to me the similarities between the Crests and the Holy Blood or the canto ability that the mounted units had.
Fire Emblem: Three Houses, though, is about the conflict between the three major powers in the land of Fodlan: the Adrestian Empire, the Kingdom of Faerghus and the Leicester Alliance. In the first part of the game, all three future leaders are in attendance at the Officer’s Academy in Garreg Mach. And while there is some healthy competition between the Houses, the students are friends.
All of this changes when Edelgard reveals herself as the Flame Emperor. The one behind all the troubles that have been plaguing the monastery including the death of Jeralt (your father) and the kidnapping of Flayn (who is actually Saint Cethleann). Her inability to trust proves to be her downfall as she declares war near the end of the first part of the game. In fact, having played through the Verdant Wind path, it was strange to see how similar the goals of both Claude and Edelgard were. The only difference was the means of achieving their dreams.
As for Dimitri, it saddened me to see the boar prince charge blindly towards Edelgard even though he could have allied with the Leicester Alliance. Haunted by the Tragedy of Duscur, he stubbornly refused to work together - caught up in his need for vengeance. Only by playing through the Azure Moon route can Dimitri be saved from his self-destructive tendencies.
Consequently, Claude seemed the most balanced of all three lords. With the blood of Almyra and Fodlan running through his veins, he dreams of a world united. Though he is portrayed as a schemer, most of them are merely ploys to ensure that the least amount of blood is shed. Rather than a ‘kill every last one of them’ approach, he is open to discussion. And had Edelgard was not so caught up in her own misguided means of of unifying Fodlan, perhaps the two of them would have been a powerful force.
The ending of Verdant Wind helped prove this point. Claude’s last speech in the fight against Nemesis highlighted the need for teamwork and that only by working together, even the most difficult of obstacles can be overcome.
I’m not sure when I’ll play through the other routes of Fire Emblem: Three Houses, but I can say that the thought of heading back to Garreg Mach monastery is a tantalising thought. Unfortunately, there are a ton of other games on my radar and I am only one person with a limited amount of time. While I did have a few gripes about the game, such as its terrible mouth flaps as well as its less than stellar textures (I mean, I’ve never put much stock into having the best graphics, but seriously, even the uniforms didn’t look all that great. Not to mention the background textures. And what was with the warped tables in all the support conversations?), Fire Emblem: Three Houses kept me entertained for almost a hundred hours as I planned out battles and watched as many support conversations as I could.
Hopefully, whenever there’s some downtime between games I’ll play through both Blue Lions and Black Eagles. For now, though, I’ll remain loyal to the Deer and the memes they’ve spawned on the internet.

The Adventures of Arcadia and Hendrickson - 8
A Month Later
For Hendrickson, Arcadia, and Griamore, the following month was full of dangerous situations. One town after another, the three of them went to and eradicated the demons plaguing the people. Even Griamore was helpful in the process. He made sure to keep the two adults safe as they killed off the demons. With each demon they killed, the two adults got a little closer together. They worked so well together and were a great team, including Griamore. Their chemistry was great, and both of them could feel it. Even the little boy could tell that there was something growing between them. That's what led them to where they were now. The group was stopped in the woods at night, away from any village. They hadn't come across a demon for a few days now and had no reason to stay in a village. They were actually now making the trek back to Liones. They were close, but not too close. “Arcadia, do you want to learn more now?” Hendrickson questioned as he approached the girl who was poking at the fire. The two of them were working on her goddess powers every so often, and she could even heal a basic wound now. However, her ability to purge was going nowhere. “Alright, I guess.” Arcadia finally sighed out. She wasn't happy about her ability to purge, or the lack thereof ability. “Let's try this again.” Hendrickson held out a little bottle of poison and handed it to her. “Try to purify this with your ability to purge.” “I have no ability.” “You're a goddess, you can do this.” Hendrickson wholeheartedly believed in the girl and her abilities. “You can do it, Arc!” Griamore called out from his spot near the fire. “I... alright, I'll try again.” Arcadia wrapped her hands around the little bottle and thought hard about purging it of its poison. She thought hard about it, but nothing happened. “Let's try something else.” Hendrickson took the bottle, opened it up and drank it. “Hendrickson!” “Purge the poison now,” Hendrickson stated as he just stared at the shocked girl. The girl swore many different words and placed her hands on Hendrickson's chest. She thought hard about purging the poison, but nothing worked. However, when she thought about saving his life, her hands began to glow and the poison within Hendrickson was purged away. “I can't believe you did that!” Arcadia yelled out as she shoved Hendrickson backward. He caught her hands and smirked at her. “I knew you could do it you just needed the right incentive.” “What if I couldn't do it?” “Then I'd purge myself.” “You're an idiot.” Arcadia tore her hands away from Hendrickson and stood up, pouting. She then turned away from the man and walked over to the little boy who was poking at the fire. “Arcadia, I'm sorry. I just fully believed in you.” Hendrickson commented simply as he followed the girl. He sat down right next to where he eventually sat down and looked over at her. “I guess... thank you for believing in me...” “I have always believed in you.” Those words made Arcadia look over at the white-haired man. Her heart soared as she smiled at him and he returned it with a smirk of his own. It wasn't a full smile, but it was enough. “Thank you, Hendy.” He now no longer blushed every time she called him that. He'd grown used to it and now it gave him a warm fuzzy feeling in his chest. “I'm tired,” Griamore spoke, breaking their little moment. He got up and climbed into Arcadia's lap after he spoke. There, he instantly fell asleep. “It's almost time for Meliodas to wake up. We should get back to Liones... I also have a bad feeling about what's going on there.” Arcadia finally spoke after some time of silence. “Besides, I think Griamore is missing his two friends.” “I agree. He has seemed a bit down recently.” Hendrickson responded as he looked at the sleeping boy. “We should reach Liones tomorrow if we hurry and I think we need to hurry.” “Alright. Well, for now, let's go to sleep.” “Right.” Arcadia then lifted the boy up and laid him down on the ground. She then covered him with a blanket they'd bought along the way and returned to Hendrickson's side. He was now also on the ground with a blanket of his own near Griamore. The two of them slept together each night, because not only do they sleep well, but they keep the bad dreams away from each other as well. “Goodnight, Arcadia,” Hendrickson mumbled to the girl as he began to drift to sleep. “Night, Hendy,” Arcadia muttered back as she snuggled closer to the man. He had his arms tightly wrapped around her as he pulled her closer on instinct. The next morning, they woke up with Griamore between them, yet again. They usually woke up to the little boy being there. He didn't want to admit it but he enjoyed being there between two people because it reminded him of his parents. After they woke up and got ready to go they made the walk to Liones. When they got there, they realized that there was a battle going on. They quickly made their way to where they could sense Fraudrin. As they got closer they could hear the voices from people inside of the castle. “Get the hell down here, you bastard!” Someone yelled out angrily, presumably at Fraudrin. “You're one of the demon clan's Ten Commandments! It's your time for your day of reckoning!” “We, the Pleiades of the Azure Sky will make sure today is the final day you walk amongst the living... we swear our lives on it!” “How dare you... do that to Sir Denzel!” “Hmph... Insects,, you bark because you have no bite... know your place... None of you possess the ability or skill to stand toe-to-toe with me.” Fraudrin spoke as he looked down on everyone. “In that case, perhaps I should throw my hat into the fray...” Hendrickson spoke as he and Arcadia approached the situation with their swords out. “You...” Dogedo spoke as he recognized Hendrickson. “That body... belongs to my friend... my comrade.” Hendrickson was ready to fight and Arcadia was right at his side. “And today will be the day that I take it back!” “Hendrickson... You fool... After I was gracious enough to let you live. And Arcadia, my former lover, you are standing by that fool.” Fraudrin muttered as he glared down at the two. “We'd rather die than accept help from the likes of you, you scum!” Dogedo growled at the man. “Dogedo, this is neither the time nor place for that!” One of the man's comrades snapped instantly. “I will have vengeance for my friend! You will pay!” “Once this fight is over, you may do with me what you wish. I shall not resist.” Hendrickson spoke as he walked passed the yelling man with the girl right behind him. She glared at the other man for a moment before continuing to follow Hendrickson. “Hendy, are you sure about that? You know I won't let anyone touch you, right?” Arcadia mumbled to the man, who only ignored her words this time. He was focused on the demon in front of him. “Howzer, Slader... we should help evacuate his majesty and his aides!” Gilthunder stated as he spoke to his close friend. “Yeah... Since our hands are tied we'd be nothing more than dead weight and a hindrance if we stayed here. Besides, there is still lots of attendants and maids running about the castle.” Howzer responded as he looked back at his friend. “Margret... I swear on my life that I will protect you!” Gilthunder then spoke as he turned to the princess. “Gil...” The princess responded fondly. More of the people talked amongst themselves before finally noticing what was behind Fraudrin. “Wh...What the hell are those?!” Howzer exclaimed as he looked at Grayroad. “Silence, ladies, and gentlemen. You are all about to bear witness to one of the world's greatest mysteries, the Grayroad show.” Fraudrin spoke with a smirk on his face. “Her progeny has no distinction that would classify them as male or female... she is but an anomaly of a high-class demon born from the lesser classes... The rarest of rare species that has earned the right to be called a queen form. And just as her name implies, she is a creature without any magic... only capable of laying eggs... eggs from which her offspring will be born, and that offspring's sole purpose in life is to protect their queen.” That seemed to put Hendrickson on edge. “Yes, that's right, Hendy. The same principle that once fueled your experiments to usher in the new era. Though if I were to point out any differences... Her eggs are beyond reproach... There are no failures among them and the demons that are born from her eggs will be the highest purity... None shall be tainted with any traces of their former host.” “We don't have a second to spare!” Arden yelled out as he shot down two people. “No! Don't do that!” Arcadia yelled out a little too late. “Oh dear...” Fraudrin muttered as he put his hand to his chin. “This is what happens when you act on impulse... if you had let me finish... you'd have learned that if the bodies inside the eggs are exposed to air once they reach a threshold temperature, they begin to grow and mature at an incredibly accelerated rate.” The eggs fell to the ground and broke, causing the demons to be released. Fraudrin then smiled largely, sending chills through Arcadia. “Dammit!” Arcadia swore as she ignored Fraudrin's next sentence. Instantly, Ban tried to help out and tried to get the bulb out of them, but failed. “Fox's sin Ban, what you attempted just now... you were targeting the bulb, were you not? You're going to have to do a whole lot better than that if you want to destroy one of these egg-spawned demons.” “Out of the way, Mr. Hero! We ain't got time for your roundabout methods!” Dogedo yelled as he charged at the demons. “Wait, stop!” Arcadia yelled out instantly. She and Deathpierce both yelled out at the man, but he ignored both of them. Dogedo slammed right through the demons, killing them instantly and immediately, he began to age and then die right in front of everyone. “Wh...what's happening?!” Deldry demanded, horrified at the situation. “I am the Ten Commandments' thou shalt not kill. Any and all who dare take another's life in my presence shall have all of their own time... their own life stolen from them.” Grayroad spoke in her creepy ass voice. “Now... the choice is yours, kill your former acquaintances that have been reborn as demon spawn and forfeit your life because of it... or stand idly by and be slaughtered by your former acquaintances that have been reborn as demon spawn...” Fraudrin actually began to chuckle as he spoke those words. “If Meliodas were alive, you wouldn't stand a chance!” Gilthunder growled as he protectively stood in front of Margret. To that, Fraudrin began to full on laugh. “If he were alive? Even if he were, his hands would be hopelessly as tied as yours!” “Shut up Fraudrin! Don't forget, I'm here!” Arcadia yelled out instantly. “Ah yes, my beautiful former lover. I was surprised to see you arrive with Hendy. I wonder, what is going on between you two...” He almost seemed bothered by that. The next thing anyone knew, Margret was yelling Gilthunder's name. “Well, well, I did not see that coming! Our mysterious magician was none other than this country's former royal magician who had long since been exiled!” He began to laugh again. “I must say, that was a wise decision nonetheless! While you stand there engaging in what is surely stimulating conversation, more and more eggs are hatching!” Sure enough, the eggs fell from where they were and hit the ground. Thankfully though, Gustaf was able to freeze them instantly. However, that used all the strength he had left in him. He instantly passed out afterward. “What's wrong? Passing out on me already?” Fraudrin smirked cockily. Thankfully though, as Gustaf's ice melted, it was replaced by another's and it also attacked Fraudrin. “What... What is this imposing magical power?!” “You flatter me... it's simply some run-of-the-mill ice magic. But until I dispel it, it shall remain frozen for all eternity.” Everyone looked up to see who was talking now. “I must apologize for my tardiness.” Everyone was shocked to see Merlin floating there. “This can't be... You should have been turned to stone by Galand's Commandment!” “I was busy putting the finishing touches on a few experiments, but thanks to that, I've been able to achieve some rather satisfying results. Now then, Ten Commandments, it's time I made you my personal, little guinea pigs!” “Lady Merlin!” Hendrickson happily called out, relieved to see the woman. “This human... is very dangerous.” Grayroad began to power up an attack that was aimed at Merlin, however, Howzer jumped in the way instead. Howzer instantly fell backward onto the ground. “Howzer!” Hendrickson yelled out as he made his way to the fallen man. “Wh.. what just happened to me? I can't see anything... I can't hear anything... everything's gone completely pitch black... I can't feel my fingers or my feet... Guess I'm about to meet my maker...” “Lady Merlin, what is the meaning of this?!” “It appears he's lost function of his five senses... fascinating,” Merlin responded simply, which irritated Arcadia a little bit. Howzer went back to mumbling something while Merlin put her two fingers to her lips, whispered something and then put those two fingers to Howzer's head. He instantly shot up, colliding with Hendrickson's chin in the process. “Are you alright, Hendy?” Arcadia asked as she crouched down next to him. He just had a look of almost disappointment on his face. “I'm just fine.” Hendrickson finally responded just as Merlin began to kill bugs that were coming at them. Surprisingly though, nothing happened to the female. “Steal away all of someone's time, or in layman's terms, a person will have all their remaining years taken from them. While your commandment is indeed intriguing and impressive, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but... it will have no such effect on me.” “Merlin, then you're not human?!” Ban questioned, a little confused. “Merlin is special...” Arcadia muttered mostly to herself, but Hendrickson heard. He was about to question when Merlin began talking again. She rambled on about experiments taking such a long time and what not. Arcadia stopped paying attention to her. Until the end. “And then, just like that, it occurred to me. All I needed to do was simply stop my own time. “Stop your own time?!” Howzer yelled out, shocked. “Infinity, that is the magic power I possess. No matter how powerful a magic is, all I need to do is invoke it just once... and I can keep flames burning, ice frozen or time stopped, for eternity, as long as I, myself, do not release the spell.” She then paused and looked around at everyone. “Everyone looks perplexed? If you've got something to say, now's the time to spit it out.” No one spoke out loud, but everyone was thinking it. 'So unfair!' was the thought, while Arcadia just chuckled to herself. She already knew the truth about Merlin. “Be that as it may! Never mind the fact that your magic power borders on cheating, it still doesn't explain how you were able to release yourself after being turned to stone by Galand!” Fraudrin yelled up at the floating woman. “His was quite the remarkable commandment... It took me a considerable amount of time before I was able to return myself back to normal.” Merlin simply responded to the man. “These commandments are no mere ordinary magic spells... they are curses bequeathed to us by the Demon King himself! No matter how much time you have allotted yourself, no simple sorcerer could ever release themselves from one!” Grayroad yelled in multiple different voices that creeped Arcadia out a bit. “In truth, even I panicked even if for just a moment... but I slowly and calmly regained my composure... and suddenly I remembered something. That I had been endowed with natural resistance to commandments, to begin with. So preposterous and outlandish really... it was so long ago... So much time has passed, in fact, that it seems everyone has all but forgotten my true identity.” Merlin ranted on and then continued. “None other than Belialuin's daughter. As the Ten Commandments, I'm sure that name ought to ring a bell and resonate with you...” Instantly, Fraudrin and Grayroad freaked out. “Lies! We're just to take your word that you're that survivor?! I... I refuse to believe it!” Fraudrin yelled out as he began to freak out a little bit more. “My true name is...” Then Merlin spoke terrifying type noises that confused the hell out of all the humans and shocked the two demons. “Then it's... it's true... there's no doubt about it!” Grayroad yelled out, horrified. “Wh...what was that just now?!” Howzer yelled out to Merlin, just as freaked out as the demons. “I apologize. It's not something a human can pronounce.” Merlin then turned her attention to Grayroad. “Well then, I've grown bored of this conversation. Let us continue where we left off...” She then began to fly towards Grayroad, causing it to shriek in fear. “This bodes poorly!” The Grayroad began to try to go in all different directions to get away from Merlin. “No, not that way you fool! We must split apart!” Grayroad then split apart in tiny gray demons and tried to escape in all different directions. “Hold on now... I don't remember giving you permission to leave... I can't have my precious guinea pig escaping on me.” Merlin then created a massive whirlwind that began to tear everything apart near it. Everyone ducked and covered trying to not get swept up in it. Hendrickson grabbed a hold of Arcadia and kept his grip tight on her as wind swept all around them. “Escape is futile... we are getting sucked... back into the center...” All of the pieces of Grayroad were then sucked up and it all swirled down into a test tube that Merlin closed when everything was inside. “I've gotten my hands on quite the scrumptious guinea pig,” Merlin spoke as she fondly looked at the now-closed test tube. However, everyone else was in shock as the whole castle was now gone as well. The king himself was in the most shock, due to his home now being gone. No one really knew what to do for a few moments, so everyone remained mostly silent with shock at all that had just transpired.

ANON sent / what was byleth's reaction to claude's genius tactical decision in azure moon? (the part where claude retreated his forces until the bls came)
||. That it was genius . . . and also so , SO risky. She’d acknowledge that it was the best play he could have made in his position . . . and also chide him for betting all of his cards on Dimitri and her. There are so many ways it could have gone wrong. From Dimitri’s mental health , to the Kingdom potentially not having enough resources after the battle against Cornelia , or Claude’s courier getting intercepted ; the Kingdom having a setback on the route to get to Claude in time at all . . . . She wouldn’t say it until she managed to get to him properly but I firmly believe she’d be in a bit of a state , worrying about all of the things she can’t control in this situation. (Mainly: getting there in time.)
Though I do believe she would be able to plainly see why Claude would make that bet. And be thankful , in a way , that he did.
I am personally of the opinion that Byleth got close to all of the house leaders no matter which house she was in. Obviously, not as close as she CAN get if she’s their professor, but even still. I also like to hc she’d try small things to get each of the houses to co-mingle whenever she could. (More than just the Battle of Eagle and Lion feast, I mean.) So . . . to say the least , her PERSONAL feelings would be that she’s relieved and even grateful to see that those bonds , at the end of the day , still won out. She very much likes Claude. Would consider him a close friend if he let her. So if she could hear him say what he does to Judith?
If anyone can bring him back, it's Teach. Teach will talk, and he'll listen. But more than anything, I've seen their skill and their abilities... I believe in them.
She’d be honestly over the moon. His faith in her to bring their mutual friend back, and then his faith in both of them to work together and help him with his pincer attack? Absolutely ground shattering.

☼ luminous beings are we | + limstella.
starter for @stelleffigia
One advantage to attending the Officers Academy lies in the fact that Ferdinand cannot want for sparring partners, for many of his fellow students and the Knights of Seiros think similarly and practice their forms and skills day in and day out. Ordinarily, the ginger would choose one of his usual partners with whom to spar, such as Lady Edelgard (if he desires a serious match), the kind Blue Lion swords-mage with hair as azure as his House’s name, or the bluenette’s redheaded, floral-minded friend. However, the monastery has welcomed a recent influx of new students and faculty, and Ferdinand finds himself curious and eager to test the abilities of these newcomers. Though he himself is barely a fresh face here, it is only right that he show hospitality to his new classmates and take their measure of strength that they might know to avail themselves of his guidance.
So it is that he meanders about the monastery, greeting classmate and faculty member alike, be they affiliated with the Eagles, Lions, Deer, or neither. In doing so, he comes upon a curious personage wandering amongst the others, one intriguing and confusing for the utter lack of emotion expressed. Ferdinand cannot help the tilt of his head as he considers this particular newcomer.
The... man? Woman? Person? The person bears great beauty which, coupled with their expressionless face, gives the young Aegir the impression of a human-sized doll brought to life. One would not think that sparring with one so delicate-looking would be wise... but perhaps appearances are deceiving in this case? (And speaking of appearances, Ferdinand cannot determine whether to refer to the person as “lord” or “lady”; the beauty tells him “woman” while the body states “man.” If he is to have any answer, it would only be polite to ask the person what is preferred.)
Ferdinand graces the person with his most winning smile and extends a hand. “A pleasure to meet you, dear fellow student! My name is Ferdinand von Aegir, and I welcome you to the Officers Academy! I desire to become acquainted with you, and I would like to offer you the opportunity for a spar so that we may do just that. May I inquire as to your name and how I should refer to you?”
