There had been talk and whispers. Lily hadn't been oblivious to them despite having never put much faith in it all. Talk of what kind of man Harvey was, that whatever was happening with the two of them was simply a fling for the man. Fun until he found something or someone else to move onto. Seemed that was the m.o. for more than a considerable chunk of the officers at the GCPD. Lily wasn't one to judge, and Harvey hadn't ever given her that feeling. If anything, there was a comfort and an aching desire for the familiarity that had fallen between them to remain. So, what point did she have in taking to heart the words.
That was until Harvey had seemingly vanished. At least from her life. The void there had been felt significantly. At first, she tried to give the benefit of the doubt and tried to maintain that the very obvious actions weren't what was happening. But after two months of it, well, her mind started to get a little treacherous. Insecurity flared up. Maybe she just hadn't been enough. Or hadn't actually been what he was looking for. Thoughts that had her curled up in bed and crying for a few more nights than she cared to admit.
Despite it all, there was an underlying worry for the man. Gordon had at least mentioned something being off when she had stopped by the station, the worry having finally eaten a hole through her to cause her to be desperate enough for such actions.
Bile settled in the back of her throat, nerve endings so frayed from the last few weeks that she felt beyond shaky. But there she stood, outside of his door. She had to at least see him to know he was in one piece. Maybe say something to have some closure before she tried to ease the heartache she was feeling. They hadn't ever been in a relationship, at least not one that either had admitted. She had no right to it, a logical she had tried to cling to in an attempt to ease the hurt. Even so, he had been a friend.
"Harvey?" Lily didn't hear any movement in the apartment. "Please, if you're in there, open up." Her forehead rested against the door, eyes closed for a second. Too much emotion had leaked into her voice. Damn it. That wasn't what she had wanted.
Werewolf Verse | Lily Red Riding Hood | Lily and Harvey

It had been almost 3 months since Harvey had been attacked, he'd thought that night he would die, that he'd go as he always feared with his guts spilling out in some dirty Gotham alley.
Two days later though he'd awoken feeling like he had the worst hangover. If it hadn't been for the three long scars that now adorned his torso, he would have thought it was just a case of his drink being spiked and a bad trip.
There was no denying it though when the full moon started to come around. That first month Harvey had been irritable, volatile, violent. In his head the wolf had been clawing at him but he'd tried his best to ignore it. All it had done was make the transformation worse. He turned near the docks, clothes destroyed, body mashed, torn apart and reshaped.
He hadn't told a single soul. It was hard enough coming to terms with the existence of werewolves on his own, let alone trying to explain it to anyone else and then have to explain that he, was now a werewolf. An uncontrollable monster come the full moon and the rest of the time, just a monster.
Harvey had realised pretty quickly that his temper was somewhat of a trigger and he was having to keep it in check lest the beast appear, the fangs, the eyes, the turning of his hands.
With all of this going on he'd been almost purposefully avoiding Lily, if he thought she deserved better before she definitely did now. So he'd been cagey, he'd avoided her calls, all but dropped off the face of the earth when it came to having dinners with her. He avoided spaces he knew she'd be and so far it seemed to be working, but as he nursed the tumbler of whiskey a knock came at the door and he knew, before he answered it, from the scent wafting in the door frame that he could avoid her no more.

Lily held her breath, trying to calm down and ease the frantic beat of her heart. It felt as if it was trying to pound right out of her chest as she waited. Ears strained to hear any sound on the other side of the thick door to no avail. Eyes squeezed shut tighter, trying to stop the burn that signaled tears were coming. So many things to keep a tight lid on, and Lily felt like she couldn't manage. Crying and breaking down at his door wouldn't do any good. It would only make the feelings worse, make her hate the fact that she let herself get so upset.
Her forehead banged against the door twice, a light little sound as she took in a few deep breaths. Right. No answer, or he wasn't home. Either way, it wasn't the end result that she wanted. But there was hardly anything that she could do about it. Stepping away from the door, she stared at it for just a moment longer before the feelings became far too heavy again.
All but fleeing the building, the anger and sorry raging in her chest, she hardly paid attention to her surroundings. A mistake that was always costly in a city like Gotham. She hadn't made it to the alleyway next to the building before she was shoved. The shift of balance wasn't anticipated, and she was sent tumbling down to the ground, a sound of surprise and hurt leaving her. Instinct demanded she brace her fall, which resulted in an audible crack as the bone gave way.
A knife met her throat as her eyes landed on the hovering face of the man above her.
"Money. Now."
