as edelgard began to settle into this new life (though it was done slowly and carefully), she became comfortable with her surroundings, enough so that she went about her daily activities with patience and composure. whereas she’d been focused on gaining knowledge and understanding mere weeks before, she was less fervent about searching the libraries for information, taking more time out of her day to relax and enjoy what frivolities she could. no doubt she’d find out why she was here in time—and it was just as important to reduce her own stress as it was to discover her purpose here.
as she strolled through terra, she again encountered a woman she’d met only days prior—olivia, a dancer of another world—who knelt on the ground before a variety of vibrant blooms, tending to them with care and undivided attention. while edelgard longed to return to the gardens in enbarr, she did appreciate the beauty regardless of the location.
Tumblr media
“ah, i’m pleased to see you again, olivia. you have an interest in gardening as well?” the dancer looked as though she belonged among the flowers, the soft pink shade of her hair complemented by their blooms. “i don’t wish to impose, but do you mind if i join you?”

While her own assigned apartment was cozy enough, with its various plants and sightly color scheme, it simply wouldn’t do for Camilla to remain cooped up within its walls for long. There was a world out there to explore — one she’d never experienced — and she was a determined sort of woman who wouldn’t let any fear of the unknown stop her from leaving the confines of her bedroom.
She was cautious as she navigated the building and made her way outside, but her efforts bore fruit immediately when the lobby poured out into a gorgeous garden. Camilla had always longed for something similar in Nohr — but her country had been far too cold and far too poor for such a thing to be truly plausible long-term. It had been but a little dream: a life of comfort and relaxation with no need to wage war. Could such a thing be possible here?
As she walked along the decorated path, she admired the various plants and arrangements of flowers. And it wasn’t long before she encountered a stranger — something she knew would happen quite quickly in a brand new realm — but the other woman’s nervous stature was cause for concern. She must have been a new arrival as well, judging by the unease with which she held herself, though she still looked at home among the flowers with her pink curls. Being such a compassionate woman, it was only natural for Camilla to attempt to comfort her.
Tumblr media
“Are you quite alright, darling?” She placed a hand gently on her shoulder as she spoke, attempting to gain her attention without frightening her. “You must be new here as well. If you’d like, we can take a look around. Brave this strange new storm together, hm?”

Flower basket in hand and smile on her face, Sumia approached her friend with warmth. She’d been in the city long enough for it to become normal, her thoughts now involved with making life the best it could be rather than with hopes of an escape she couldn’t influence. To spread this positive attitude, she planned to plant flowers where gardens had been destroyed (or hadn’t ever existed) throughout the city. Though it was likely they’d be ravaged in no time, it was a comforting hobby that she knew would brighten the daily lives of the city’s residents, if only for a little while.
Tumblr media
“Olivia! I hope you’re ready for the day,” Sumia said, holding out the basket of tools and flower pots. “I thought we’d start in Sector 4, considering all of the shops and vending areas that could use some brightening up.”  If they were going to be trapped here indefinitely, their likelihood of returning home looking more grim by the day, Sumia figured she should introduce some color into the glum lives of everyone else held captive.  Gloves, aprons, hats to guard them from the sun, already-budded flowers, and other various tools lined the inside of her basket. “I’m open to suggestions, of course! I have everything we need, so we should get a lot out of this day.”
