Dandelion’s stupidly reckless at times because he knows Geralt will always be there to save him.

Just don’t think about the first time he gets into trouble after Geralt’s death and he’s like “it’s fine Geralt will save me” and then there’s a crushing realization that no, Geralt won’t save him ever again.

Specifically, feels about Little Eye who was Dandelion’s best friend other than Geralt that he loved enough to pull out of a mass grave despite being terrified of everything. And how he loved Geralt enough to trust the Witcher with Little Eye’s heart and how he tried to get Geralt with Little Eye because he really, really doesn’t like Yen.

Priscilla in Witcher 3 is based on Little Eye and at some point I will write up a whole sad headcanon about it and about how much Dandelion loves both of them.

Dandelion was 25 when he met Geralt and he was already quite well known. But despite his fame he didn’t have anyone he really connected with (the hazards of being a wandering bard) and was lonely. Likewise, Geralt was a well known Witcher who only had a small handful of people he could trust, let alone people he considered friends.

That’s what draws them together. They are both sad, lonely men who want someone else to be sad and lonely with.

On shipping Dandelion/Geralt: I’m more than happy to write a ship with the two of them, but there are some things I want to point out first.

Dandelion loves Geralt. He’s his other half, his best friend, and his muse. But he is not in love with Geralt.

Would he have sex with him? Absolutely. Sex is Dandelion’s favorite pastime, after all. But with Geralt it’s more of a friends with benefits relationship.

I’m also totally happy to write 100% platonic Geralt and Dandelion.

It’s difficult to genuinely offend Dandelion. He’ll pretend to be offended, sure, and pretend he’s upset just to try to get sympathy, but it’s difficult to actually get under his skin. Because at the end of the day, he’s his own biggest critic.

If people insult Geralt he has two possible reactions: he’ll either agree and call Geralt a loser or he’ll get angry and defensive and probably try to start a bar fight. There’s no way to predict which responce you’ll get and there’s no in between.
