@glorytragedy sent a letter to myranda royce: ‘‘ i simply could use some peace. ’’
prompt: bridgerton.
Of course she does, Myranda thinks, who doesn't ? Especially since… well. You see, for some time, now, she has begun to suspect that the girl seated in front of her is, in truth, Sansa Stark; There is no way, right now, to prove her suspicions correct ( it's not like she can just ask her, is it ? ) or if they are just that, suspicions, but, say that they are, indeed, correct, and add on top of them all that she heard…
Then she hopes that she'll find her peace more than most.
Usually, in true Myranda fashion, she wouldn't tell her this, exactly. She would say: ‘‘ I do hope you do not mean peace from me ! ’’ in that facetious tone she likes to use to tease and banter with her friends, but at the moment she feels it would suit the conversation ill, and she doesn't want to hurt Alayne, not even unintentionally.
❝ Well, ❞ she says instead, shifting in her seat. Her lute, placed close to her thigh, shifts at the movement, threating to fall, and Myranda takes swift hold of it, bringing it on her lap, beginning to pluck its strings, producing a low, distracted sound. ❝ Then I hope you'll be able to find the pace you seek. In fact, ❞ her voice pitches slightly at the tee, and Myranda tilts her head, looking up at Alayne from under her lashes. ❝ I hope you'll find some of it during your stay here, Alayne, ❞ the corners of her lips curl upward slightly. ❝ It can get quite lonely, up here in the Eyrie, but worry not - there's me and Mya to keep you company ! ❞

Do you think we'll see anymore of Mya Stone in the next book/books? I really want to see something of a friendship between her and Sansa. I like the Randa Royce stuff Sansa has going on but that friendship has the Harry issue hanging over it, whereas Mya and Sansa don't have that issue of a man hanging over them. There are so few female friendships in ASOIAF it'd be nice if there could one that was just simple and easy and gave both people happiness and comfort.
Hard to say. On the one hand, Mya’s primary professional purpose - to lead the mules up and down the Giant’s Lance to and from the Eyrie - is now over for the foreseeable future, since the Eyrie is unreachable and abandoned during winter. That’s not to say Mya wouldn’t have any other responsibilities as a servant at the Gates of the Moon during winter (or could be found some by the Royces), and that’s also not to say Mya would want to leave the only home she’s ever known (think back on her dismissal of men compared to her true “father”, the mountain itself). Nor would Mya necessarily have a place on her own in the expedition north, since unlike Anya Waynwood or Myranda Royce she could not lead or represent an aristocratic faction supporting Sansa, or act as some sort of lady companion to her. I’m not saying Mya absolutely will not be a permanent character in the story, only that I could see her role ending after the Vale’s hosts leave for the North, especially if she herself has no specific purpose to go north.
The plus side - to the extent you can call it that - is that I think Sansa will be reunited with one female friend in the near future - Jeyne Poole. With Jeyne, I believe, coming back to Winterfell alongside Arya and Justin Massey, and the various Stark kids (and their ambitious supporting factions) converging on the family seat, I very much think that Sansa and Jeyne will come together after a few very hard, very traumatic years for them both. Not only will this give them both a much-needed friend once again, but I also believe Jeyne’s testimony about her experience vis a vis Littlefinger - namely, that (after selling her into sex slavery) he forced her to pretend to be the sister Sansa thought was dead in order to give the Stark inheritance to the family of the man who had personally murdered her brother and helped oversee the Red Wedding overall - will be crucial evidence in Sansa’s takedown of Littlefinger.

I liked your response about Sansa being too hesitant sometimes to take charge to her detriment (although it's understandable... with littlefinger she's been framed for murder so... it's like you said there will come a time when it does look like moral cowardice if sansa does continues the same pattern and for many reasons this will be sansa breaking the pattern, similar to her killing LF) It made me think how in contrast, Arya has a strength in that she will take charge even if there are no good choices/tons of risk in situations (aka Harrenhall) It doesn't always work out but that's not the point. This is something Sansa herself needs to overcome and having been removed from the toxic environment of KL she can do that
Exactly! :D
And actually, the instance with Littlefinger is actually a great example of this. It’s entirely understandable, because she is young and afraid, but she has this very strong impulse to reveal herself to Yohn Royce, and she doesn’t and she defers to Littlefinger’s plan.
It is not coincidence that there’s a verbal distinction made between Sansa’s memories and Alayne’s response. It is “Alayne I”, the chapter where she truly chooses that cover identity. To her detriment.
Last of all came the Royces, Lord Nestor and Bronze Yohn. The Lord of Runestone stood as tall as the Hound. Though his hair was grey and his face lined, Lord Yohn still looked as though he could break most younger men like twigs in those huge gnarled hands. His seamed and solemn face brought back all of Sansa's memories of his time at Winterfell. She remembered him at table, speaking quietly with her mother. She heard his voice booming off the walls when he rode back from a hunt with a buck behind his saddle. She could see him in the yard, a practice sword in hand, hammering her father to the ground and turning to defeat Ser Rodrik as well. He will know me. How could he not? She considered throwing herself at his feet to beg for his protection. He never fought for Robb, why should he fight for me? The war is finished and Winterfell is fallen. "Lord Royce," she asked timidly, "will you have a cup of wine, to take the chill off?"
Bronze Yohn had slate-grey eyes, half-hidden beneath the bushiest eyebrows she had ever seen. They crinkled when he looked down at her. "Do I know you, girl?"
Alayne felt as though she had swallowed her tongue, but Lord Nestor rescued her. "Alayne is the Lord Protector's natural daughter," he told his cousin gruffly. (AFFC, Alayne I)
The likely truth is that this was a moment where she could have found a much safer protector and ended Littlefinger right then and there. Instead, she evades the decision, supports his lie and becomes entrapped in his web. She trades her own future credibility for the very flimsy comfort of “the devil you know”. It makes her look complicit, at worst, and unreliable at the very least.
This lack of credibility will absolutely come back and bite her in the future. Her inability to easily ecape her complicity with Littlefinger will likely be the reason she cannot be safely escorted North with the Valemen, She will need to work harder to prove her capability to them later on, even if they are likely to accept and understand her own reasoning once she can explain herself. But it’s a detour she could have avoided if she had only been a little bolder, a little more determined to escape Littlefinger.
And it will doubly come back in her connection to Arya, who is already predisposed to assigning worse intentions to Sansa than she has.
But I really look forward to Sansa struggling through that. I know she will, and it will be marvelous to watch.
Just as I am really looking forward to both Sansa and Arya finally reforging their connection and appreciating each other’s strengths. We already had glimpses of Sansa appreciating Arya-like aspects in other characters. Margaery, even Ellaria, and later Mya and Myranda. It’ll be such an uplifting revelation for each other.
“Brave like Robb”, “brave like my lady mother”, “brave like a lady in a song” - but also “brave like Arya!”

FIRST LINE OF YOUR LAST 10 STORIES!
Rules: List the first lines of your last 10 stories (if you have less than 10, just list them all!). See if there are any patterns. Choose your favourite opening line. (it was 20 but @owlsinathens did 10 and I’m following her lead cos I got bored)
Thanks @owlsinathens for the tag 😘
I’m gonna try to do this in order of writing:
A few are for A Daydream of Jon and one is for Citadel Ladies Night so they might change between now and the events...
1. Once there was a boy who was the youngest of four. (The Greyking and the Dragon Nagga, for Theon Month prompt Gods and religion)
2. Jon looked up at his dad and siblings on the top table and poured himself another glass in response. (Unnamed Jon x Jeyne P. for the Daydream prompt ‘Jon felt hot tears on his cheek’)
3. It was in the third moon after the Raven had come about Jon Snow, Lord Commander of the Nights Watch, that Alayne realised her bleeding had not come, not since before then, before the Tourney her Lord Father had held. (Wolfish, Sansa x Myranda Royce for Ladies Night)
4. “The Prince of Summerhall,” said the man approaching him through the milling crowds in the Queen’s Ballroom with a bright grin at odds with the flourishing bow he also extended.  (Unnamed Jon x Theon for the Daydream prompt Rhaegar Wins AU)
5. Sansa picked Theon up at twenty past one, even though they’d agreed half past, Theon had been waiting for her because he knew flights made her super-efficient. (Because History, Theon & Sansa, Theon & Asha, for Theon fic exchange prompt Theon as parent)
6. After the long ride to Seagard, that final ride that the King in the North’s mother had deemed unnecessary for him to undertake, they stood on the beach, the sea singing its songs, the air filled with salt. (After the Storm, Theon x Robb, Drabble for Theon fic exchange)
7. At 4.17 Jon locked the front door, and went through the checklist in his head another time, knowing that regardless someone would have forgotten something; the stockings were in the girls’ bags, the stocking presents were at the bottom of his bag unwrapped (this was at his sister’s insistence, because apparently it was impossible that Father Christmas might have more one type of wrapping paper). (Fairly Complicated, Theon x Jon, Christmas Fic)
8. A raven came, not for him, for Jeyne. (Take My Hand as the Sun Descends, Theon x Jeyne P. for Theon fic exchange)
9. Mikken’s boy bolted in through the back door. ((Are You) The One That I’ve Been Waiting For? Jon x Dany)
10. The sky was as blue as her eyes that morning when she had asked for his help. (tangled up in blue, Jon x Sansa for daydream prompt Song-inspired)

@jonsadungeonsanddrabbles  new year event!
Day 5: Memories
Read on Ao3
Sansa wasn’t jealous. She wasn’t.  Besides, there was absolutely no reason for her to be. It probably didn’t even mean anything. He was just being nice… right?
EARLIER
“Your Grace,” Lord Royce said, “I’ve been told you’re already acquainted with my cousin?” When the man stepped aside and revealed a young woman, Sansa couldn’t help the smile from forming.
“Randa!” She walked over and embraced the other woman.
Myranda Royce, not one to hold back, squealed with delight at her old friend. “From the bastard Alayne to the Queen Sansa. Who would’ve thought?”
“Myranda!”
“Oh, it’s alright Lord Royce,” Sansa reassured the older man. “As you mentioned earlier, Myranda and I have history. She's a friend.” She smiled at the lady. “Oh it’s so good to see you again.”
--
It turns out that Myranda had joined Bronze Yohn on the trip to Winterfell on behest of her father. According to her, Nestor Royce had heavily hinted that there were many Houses up North in need of a Lady of the Keep. So she rolled her eyes, packed her bags, and headed North.
Now here she is, arm in arm with Sansa, strolling around the training grounds as she gets the rundown of the different lords and knights from the Queen herself. There were a few promising prospects.
“Who’s that one there?”
Sansa looked to where Myranda was pointing and smiled softly. “Oh, that’s just Jon.”
“Well,” Myranda chuckled, “Whoever this ‘Just Jon’ is, he’s quite handsome.” The lady continued to let her eyes roam up and down Jon. Sansa found she didn’t like that.
“Stop it, Randa,” she gently chided, “Besides, he’s not a Lord of a Keep, I doubt that he’s something you’re looking for in a husband.”
“Just because my father’s looking for a lord to marry me off to, doesn’t mean I am,” she said. And in a conspiratorial voice,  “Besides,  just because I’m not going to marry him, doesn’t mean I can’t bed him.”
Sansa couldn’t say why, but she didn’t like the sound of that. She felt possessive. No. Protective. Yes, that’s it.
Lucky for Sansa, Myranda mistook her expression and teased. “Gods, Alayne or Sansa, I see you’re still so  virtuous."   The woman’s giggles were loud enough to catch the attention of the men in the training yard. At the sight of the Queen and her Lady friend, most of them began puffing out their chests and made a show of their sparring. Others gave a short bow and resumed their training. Jon did neither. He smiled and walked over.
Sansa noticed Myranda subtly straighten her back and couldn’t help but roll her eyes fondly. Myranda was pretty and she knew it. Sansa was glad to see some things never change.
“Hello Your Grace,” he said with a bow.
“Jon,” Sansa stressed.
“Hello  Sansa,”  he corrected. He gave a quick glance to Myranda and Sansa remembered her courtesies.
“This is Jon Snow,” she introduced him to Myranda.
Myranda held out a hand and Jon, not sure what Southron customs called for, held it softly and kissed her knuckles. Sansa furrowed her brow.
“Pleased to meet you, Lord Snow,” Myranda said sweetly.
Jon’s response was automatic. “I’m not a Lord.”
“Pleased to meet you then,  Jon.  I’m Myranda of House Royce.” She batted her lashes and gave Jon a smile that he returned with his own, slightly confused, one.
“That’s a pretty name.”
Myranda giggled at his compliment, but Sansa immediately frowned. She felt nauseous all of a sudden.
“I’m sorry, if you’ll excuse me, I have some matters to attend to,” she said abruptly. They both frowned.
“Are you well, Sansa?” Jon asked.
“Yes, quite. I’ve just remembered I need to do a few things before the meeting with the Lords later.” It was a feeble excuse she knew, but the other two didn’t question it.
“Oh, you should have said something,” Myranda said exasperatedly. “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have pulled you away earlier!”
“No, I wanted to,” she quickly reassured her friend. Myranda’s a bit of a flirt, Sansa knew this. She was just being ridiculous, she shouldn’t feel jealous. “I’m just sorry I have to cut the tour short.”
Myranda hooked her arms around Jon. “That’s alright! Jon can show me around Winterfell, can’t you, Jon?”
“Oh. Um, sure?”
Sansa smiled tightly. “Perfect.”
--
Dinner was an… awkward affair. She hates herself just a little for the way she acted. What kind of Queen feigns illness and leaves early when she has guests? But, like her focus during her meetings, her appetite was gone. All she could think about were the words Jon said earlier that morning. They kept replaying in her head over and over again.
“That’s a pretty name.”
She’s not sure why it bothers her so much, but it does. Sansa was so lost in her thoughts, she didn’t hear the knock on her door. She also didn’t hear it open.
“Sansa? May I come in?”
Her head snapped up to the sound that shook her out of her daze. “Jon! Oh yes, come in.”
Jon raised a hand to stop her from standing up. After he closed the door, he walked over and joined her in front of the fireplace.
“Are you sure you’re not unwell?”
“Yes, I’m sure,” she replied, smiling softly at his concern.
“Alright,” he said slowly, “Then can I ask you something?”
“Of course.”
Jon looked down to his lap, as if he was nervous. “Have I done something wrong?”
“What? No, why would you think that?”
“I dunno, you’ve just been acting strange today,” he said. “Distant.”
When he looked back up to her, Sansa’s heart ached at the sad expression on his face. And she suddenly felt guilty. Fine, maybe she  was  jealous. But that didn’t mean she had to make Jon feel bad for it.
“Oh no, I’m sorry Jon. I’ve just been thinking," she hesitated before continuing, "You know it’s okay for you to find happiness with someone, right?”
“Uh, yeah?” Jon looked confused, and Sansa realized she’d have to bury her feelings and be straightforward with him.
“We all deserve to be happy and have someone to love, don’t you think?”
“Yeah, yeah I do.”
Sansa’s stomach lurched at the relief and hopeful sound in his voice. Maybe he  was being more than nice.
“Good,” she said softly, “Because I think you and Myranda-”
“Myranda?” Jon leaned back in confusion. “What does she have to do with anything?”
“Well, I- I just…” It was Sansa’s turn to be confused. In a small voice, she said, “You said her name was pretty.”
Jon’s eyes softened and he chuckled. “You don’t remember, do you?”
“Remember what?”
He leaned back and stared at the fireplace. They sat in silence for a moment. When he turned back to her, he gave her the softest smile that made her heart race just a bit.
“You know what one of my favourite memories is?” He didn’t wait for an answer. “I had asked you once, what kind of flowers a girl likes.”
Sansa faintly remembers that. They were children.
“And instead of just telling me, you started bombarding me with questions about the girl,” he laughed at the memory, “And when you demanded for a name, I told you I hadn’t asked for it. You lectured me and said I should know a girl’s name before I give her flowers.” Jon stopped laughing, but he continued to look at her with such gentle eyes. “And you told me that anytime a lady tells me her name, I have to tell her that it’s pretty.”
Her breath caught. Sansa almost forgot about that. That memory was like a lifetime ago. “Well, you should, ladies like that. And I did say that, didn’t I?” she said, her voice barely louder than the crackling fire. Jon didn’t miss the relieved look on her face.
“Yeah, you did.” Jon stood up and smiled at her. “Well, I came here to make sure you’re okay, and that we’re okay. It’s late now though, I should let you rest.” He leaned over and pressed his lips to Sansa's forehead. Before he closed the door behind him though, he turned back to her.
“Sansa?”
She looked up from the fireplace. “Yes?”
He gave her a soft smile. “You have a very pretty name.”

Hi, this is lyastark (i changed blogs), you responded to my ask here: /post/175700394682/. i wanted to say that i loved your meta! i was thinking more of their relationship in the purpose of the story. for me, no one knowing about this interaction has to serve some plot purpose. b/c of this, i think that sandor is going to be the one to tell her about LF shitty behavior towards her. her relationship with him is the ONLY one that LF doesn't know about. we know he doesn't b/c he NEVER mentions (1)
sandor to sansa. he was quick to dismiss tyrion, loras, wilas, margaery, etc but he said nothing about sandor. i also believe that sansa has gotten to the point where there’s no one “new” she has met that she would 100% trust with something this big. sandor is someone she explicitly trusts not to lie to her, and is someone she associates with safety and her old life. he’s her hidden dagger, if you will
Hey, glad you liked it.
Yeah, I’m in agreement that Sandor will be crucial to Sansa reclaiming her identity in a few ways, and it will pay off that their relationship has flown under the radar for all this time.  While Jeyne Poole is also an alternate possibility or an addition to that, I think Jeyne is on course to meet with (perhaps travel with) Arya first.  It may take all of TWOW, maybe to the beginning to ADOS, for Arya and Sansa to reconnect.  One thing I’m reasonably sure of is that things will start happening pretty quickly in TWOW for wrapping up Sansa’s training arc.  With only two books left, it’s time to start moving all the remaining characters into the final act.
I’m just going to put the rest under the cut.  This isn’t so much a coherent meta, but me just riffing because I have a lot of feelings about this topic XD
Littlefinger was only a mask he had to wear. Only sometimes Sansa found it hard to tell where the man ended and the mask began. Littlefinger and Lord Petyr looked so very much alike. She would have fled them both, perhaps, but there was nowhere for her to go. Winterfell was burned and desolate, Bran and Rickon dead and cold. Robb had been betrayed and murdered at the Twins, along with their lady mother. Tyrion had been put to death for killing Joffrey, and if she ever returned to King’s Landing the queen would have her head as well. The aunt she’d hoped would keep her safe had tried to murder her instead. Her uncle Edmure was a captive of the Freys, while her great-uncle the Blackfish was under siege at Riverrun. I have no place but here, Sansa thought miserably, and no true friend but Petyr. – Sansa I, AFFC.
“She would have fled them both…” if she had another option available to her.  If she had another friend nearby, but in her mind, she doesn’t.
For Sansa’s training arc to end, her sense of isolation and dependence on Littlefinger have to be overpowered.  It is a psychological obstacle as much as it is a physical one.  Sansa has seen Littlefinger literally get away with murder and come out in a stronger position than he was before.  He seems to always be a step ahead of his enemies.  He has already bribed and extorted his way to power among the Vale lords.  He’s iced Yohn Royce out of political influence.  He’s planted seeds of doubt in Sansa toward Myranda Royce before she even met her.  (On a side note, Myranda does know Sansa’s real identity, but has never confronted her about it and nor has she used that information against her).  So LF’s locked down all the potential allies or troublemakers that he can see.  But we know there are things he can’t see, like the possibility of Sansa winning Lothor Brune’s loyalty from him.  Nor does he seem to be aware of Lyn Corbray’s seething resentment over being ousted as his brother’s heir thanks to Littlefinger’s marriage brokering.  Not to mention he’s hired a bunch of hedge knights for his household guard not suspecting for a moment that they are there to steal Sansa from him.  Littlefinger’s hubris has made him blind to things that are right in his own backyard.
While I’m 95% sure Sandor will be at the center of Sansa reclaiming her identity, I definitely don’t think he will be her only trusted ally or source of support before it’s over.  That comes from Sansa herself in doing what she does best:  being kind and empathetic to win people over.  I see her cultivating her own little band of helpers to escape rather than (as some speculations suggest) Sansa simply name-dropping at the tourney and all the Vale lords instantly pledging their swords to her as their new regent/leader/whatever.  That makes for a dramatic turn of events but is also pretty unrealistic as I see it.  I think she will eventually be in a position to receive Yohn Royce’s military support, but I strongly disagree that it’s going to be as easy as name-dropping.  Littlefinger has too much backing of his leadership right now.  The Vale lords at the tourney are already on board that gravy train of gifts, gold, and glory.  He has custody of Robert Arryn.  No one really gives a shit about Lysa’s murder and everyone is looking toward the future with the more robust young falcon, Harrold Hardyng.  IMO, Sansa needs to get with Yohn Royce before the rest of the Vale falls in line.  He’s against the ropes right now (and being kept far from the tourney for a good reason I think), but he is the one that is most likely to wrest back political power from Littlefinger once Sansa is no longer his pawn.  Then she would have powerful backing of her own.  The trick is getting her to Yohn Royce and for that, she needs a persuasive reason and the confidence to flee from LF.
Where Sansa is in the story right now, I think she already possesses most of the individual puzzle pieces to what Littlefinger has done.  She just hasn’t been able to bring herself to put all those pieces together into one complete, horrifying picture.  There’s a lot of trauma and suppression of painful thoughts wrapped up in the things she’s seen and experienced.  Things part of being Sansa Stark that will shatter the tenuous safety she finds in being Alayne Stone.  She knows on one level that Littlefinger did something with Jeyne.  She’s buried that memory and thinks about Jeyne only in more innocent times.  She hasn’t dared to ask probably for fear of the answer and for fear of the repercussions from asking.  And there’s the fact that she’s trapped with her abuser, who has muddled help and safety with exploitation and pushing her moral boundaries.  She’s under a lot of pressure to marry HtH, which has been framed as her best and only chance to go home, even if it comes at Robert Arryn’s expense.  All she has to do is let go of her empathy and see people as objects she can use to further her interests, and then she can not only feel safe but powerful and untouchable as well.  No one will ever hurt her again.  Littlefinger’s philosophy is terrifying, but there are parts of it that are very seductive to someone who has been made to feel powerless, stupid, and vulnerable.  In a way, Sansa is being tempted with adopting a cynical worldview similar to what the Hound was for Sandor. Narratively speaking, what better person to bring her back from the edge of losing her humanity than by the person she inspired to reclaim his own?  Sandor and Sansa have been saving each other all throughout their story.  The first moment they met was defined by Sansa looking Ilyn Payne, the persona of death, in the face and falling backward into Sandor’s hands (ugh, my heart!).  Many times he just seems to appear out of nowhere to catch her.  So yeah, Sandor as a “hidden dagger” works really well not only for literally saving her life, but saving Sansa Stark’s identity and her core values.  But that also comes with unpacking a lot of unpleasant things.
The missing piece of the puzzle and the one thing that will be the final straw should be learning that her father’s arrest and execution was orchestrated by Littlefinger.  Sandor was a present for all that.  He’s the best person to tell her, and yes, she would believe him.  That forces Sansa to start looking at all puzzle pieces she has avoided putting together.  Turning against LF will not just be a triumphant moment, but it’s probably going to be ugly and painful.  Sansa has a lot of suppressed guilt and shame over what LF has made her complicit in.  While she was never a willing participant and shifting responsibility on to her was a key feature of LF’s abuse strategy, Sansa has played a role to some degree in the cover-ups of LF’s crimes.  Some people think the unkiss is a symptom of PTSD.  Nope.  This situation right here puts Sansa at risk for PTSD.  It will be shattering to know she ever called Petyr a friend, trusted him, and sometimes helped him while he did awful things.  There’s your dark night of the soul that a few people reasonably predict for each of our major POVs in TWOW, especially if an innocent like Robert Arryn dies (I’m 50/50 on that).  She’ll need someone who can relate (think of Sandor’s dying anguished confessions of his sins), someone who won’t judge, and someone that can help guide her back to being Sansa Stark because right now, that identity comes with a lot of traumatic baggage.  Just as being Sandor Clegane did.  (UGH, MY HEART!)
I could go on about how similar both Petyr and Sandor’s backgrounds and origins are, how cynism plays into their world views, and the divergent paths they took.  They don’t have to speak of each other or share a scene together, but they have always been opposing philosophical forces with Sansa between them.  One embodying sweet lies and the other blunt honesty.  But I think the most telling passage about these three is in Eddard VII:
Sansa said, "I knew the Hound would win."
Littlefinger overheard. "If you know who's going to win the second match, speak up now before Lord Renly plucks me clean," he called to her. Ned smiled.
Littlefinger bet against Sandor and lost.  Daddy approved.

Jon and Sansa had nothing in common as children in book one...
I constantly keep hearing from Sansa fans - on the Jon Snow Tag - about how Jon and Sansa had similar/parallel journeys and were pretty similarly bratty when they were children - pointing to Jonsa because they are so compatible you guys! -  and that only Sansa gets unfairly criticized as opposed to Jon. Let’s tackle this:
Was Jon emo and bratty in the first few chapters in AGoT? No doubt. But as Maester Luwin aptly put it, bastards grow up faster - they have to deal with the harsh realities of life - unlike the popular, privileged daughter of the Warden of the North. Jon does look down on the other recruits of the NW as soon as he gets there, but Donal Noye very swiftly puts an end to that by explaining the circumstances to Jon and Jon LEARNS. Jon then goes about teaching Grenn and Pip and the others, protects Sam, talks to Aemon about taking in Sam etc. That’s the character growth that Jon shows in book one.
Meanwhile, Sansa continues to be bratty and selfish for pretty much the whole of the first book despite Ned’s constant pleas and warnings for the girls to not fight, that they were in a dangerous place (KL), that they had to be united as a family, that the Lannisters were bad people who had killed loyal Stark men. Sansa ignores all this and learns too late - after Ned loses his head, she is trapped in KL and the Lannisters start abusing her.
Sansa also goes against her family twice - she lies about the Trident incident, not supporting her own sister against Joffrey. And she tattles to Cersei all of Ned’s plans that was useful for Cersei to trap the girls - Sansa, Jeyne, Arya - in KL as opposed to on a ship bound for WF. Jon on the other hand wanted to leave the NW to fight for Ned, Robb and the rest of his family when he heard what happens. He feels deeply that he cannot save the people he loves:
Forgive me, Father. Robb, Arya, Bran... forgive me, I cannot help you. He has the truth of it. This is my place. "I am... yours, my lord. Your man. I swear it. I will not run again. - Jon, AGOT
That’s why it’s all the more significant when Jon does end up breaking his NW oaths for Arya at the end of the last book ADwD. Jon ends up choosing love over duty finally - like honorable Ned did.
The parallels about Jon and Sansa both wanting to leave WF also makes no sense. I mean, if you want to strip away all context, then yes, they were the two characters who wanted to leave WF in the beginning. But does not context matter in these so called parallels?
When Jon had his little tantrum with Benjen about leaving WF, it had just been made very clear to him what his status was among the siblings. Catelyn had made him sit at the lower tables while his siblings sat with their esteemed guests. Jon was bitter and angry. As we saw, Catelyn makes it very clear to Ned that Jon had to leave WF if Ned left for KL. Which was why Ned agrees to Jon going to the wall despite 14 being too young to make such a decision. Jon basically did not have a home anymore - the home he grew up in is not his - Catelyn made sure of that. Jon wanted to leave WF to make something of his life in a place - NW - where even a bastard could climb the ladder based on merit.
Sansa? She had a home. She had a loving family. A mother who doted on her. She was considered beautiful and admired for her skills unlike Arya. She wanted to leave WF to marry Joffrey and become Queen of the 7K.
So there’s a reason for why Sansa gets more criticism than Jon in the first book. Jon is an underdog trying to make something of his life as an outcast in Westeros. Sansa selfishly betrays her family twice - despite already having what Jon desired (home and family) - so that she could marry Joffrey and become queen. For reasons like this:
“Go Ahead, call me all the names you want," Sansa said airily. "You won't dare when I'm married to Joffrey. You'll have to bow and call me Your Grace." - AGOT
As show Sansa tells LF at the end of season 6 - “I came here every day when I was a girl. I prayed to be somewhere else. Back then I only thought about what I wanted, never about what I had. I was a stupid girl.”
Of course, then show Sansa negated that development by once again acting like her mother, never fully supporting Jon and passive aggressively undermining him in season 7 - but that’s D&D’s terrible writing that does not allow characters to grow for plot reasons.
Sansa gets criticized because she was a character created to have conflict among the Starks as per GRRM - not because she’s a girl.
When the series was originally conceived, it was only three volumes long and I did not know that several of the main characters were going to be stuck with being children for so much of it. The hardest chapters for me to write are the ones about Bran, just because he is the character most involved in magic, the youngest child and he is so seriously crippled--I have to write in that sense of powerlessness and it has always to convince. Sansa was the least sympathetic of the Starks in the first book; she has become more sympathetic, partly because she comes to accept responsibility for her part in her father's death. Jon Snow is the truest character--I like his sense of realism and the way he copes with his bastardy.   - GRRM
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/feature.html?tag=westeros-21&ie=UTF8&docId=49161
Jon and Sansa do not have much in common at all. Both in the books and the show. That’s why their stories have nothing to do with each other in the books,  why they hardly ever think of each other and why their stories will most probably never intersect. I mean, Sansa spends an entire book impersonating a bastard in the Vale, and never once, not once thinks about the bastard brother she grew up with in WF! Is that not amazing?! In fact Sansa admits to forgetting about Jon till Myranda Royce brings up his name. That’s how unconnected Jon and Sansa are in the books.
On the show, we see them clash again and again. Sansa keeps important information about LF and the Vale from Jon and then berates him about fighting with less men. Jon, like Ned, tells Sansa that they have to trust each other and be united as a family. Sansa undermines Jon, disagrees with his policies, Jon never listens to Sansa and instead does what he thinks is right.
As in the books, Jon has the steady, unwavering support of Arya - who stands up for Jon and defends him when he is not there to defend himself. Remember this in the books?
Sansa looked at Arya. “What did you think of Prince Joff, sister? He’s very gallant, don’t you think?”
“Jon says he looks like a girl,” Arya said.
Sansa sighed as she stitched. “Poor Jon,” she said. “He gets jealous because he’s a bastard.”
“He’s our brother,” Arya said, much too loudly.
A variation of this is pretty much what we saw last season as Sansa complains about Jon and Arya defends him on the show:
Sansa: I warned Jon this would happen. That he couldn't leave the North and expect it to just sit and wait for him like Ghost.
Arya: He didn't. He trusted you to hold it for him
Their clash over Jon escalates so much that Sansa considers having Arya executed to depose Jon and Arya lets her know that she is keeping an eye on her.
LF: He was named King in the North. He can be unnamed.
Sansa: Even if I wanted to, Arya would never go along. She always loved Jon far more than she ever loved me, and she'd kill anyone who betrayed her family.
Jon and Sansa have a non-existent relationship in the books and an almost antagonistic relationship on the show. That’s why Jonsa is just an absolutely baffling syndrome. I don’t know of any actual Jon Snow fans shipping Jonsa.  Jon-Dany, Jon-Arya, Jon-Sam, hell even Jon - Satin and Jon - Val are more believable positive relationships than Jonsa. I constantly hear from the Sansa fans about how much Jon loves Sansa. Like where? You guys want to see what actual love is? You will see it next season when Jon finally reunites with Arya.

@maidofwinter sent a letter to myranda royce: ‘‘ i haven't laughed like this in a long time. ’’
prompt: soft and sweet sentence prompts.
Why ? The question presents itself there, on the tip of her tongue, as soon as Alayne's voice trails off, but when Myranda answers, she does not give voice to her curiosity — not now, at least. There was a note, in Alayne's tone, that made Myranda think it would be best not to ask.
Which in turn gives way for another question to form, a what happened ? that also goes unvoiced. There comes another, and another still, because if one gets unanswered, then more will follow, until there is an answer.
But she can wait, there'll be another time for questions and answers.
❝ Is that so ? ❞ there is still a trace of her own laughter in her tone, and it only serves to make her question sound mocking where it was not meant to be; It doesn't help that thinking back on what made them laugh ( an exaggerated retelling of her first day at the Gates of the Moon ) is only causing laughter to bubble up in her throat once more. Clearing her throat, Myranda hoists the empty bucket on the snowy border of the well, to which follows the brief crunch of snow; Directing the hint of a smile in her friend's direction, Myranda continues: ❝ Laughter is good for the heart, or so I heard once, ❞ from an old woman, Myranda recalls vaguely. ❝ So I am glad I made you laugh, Alayne. ❞

Sansa Stark: Winds of Winter storyline
Jon is brought back from the dead and gathers the Wildlings and as many Northern Houses as he can to form an army to fight the Boltons to regain the North. Word spreads and whispers reach Littlefinger at the Vale. This puts his intricate plans for Sansa into disarray. Littlefinger attempts to speed up Sansa's marriage to Harrold Hardyng (Harry the heir) but Sansa discovers the reason for the rushed preparations. She knows she needs to help her half brother, the only family she has left, but fears the North won't support a bastard. Sansa knows if she reveals her true identity that the North would rally behind her to support Jon, but they wouldn't support her if she was married to a southern lord, an outsider. She knows she can't marry Harrold, much to her heartbreak. She conspires against Littlefinger to reveal her true identity to the Vale. She confides in Lord Royce's daughter, Myranda, who she really is and they arrange for Sansa to meet with the main Lords and Ladies of the Vale in private to reveal herself, Sansa invites Littlefinger at the last minute so he doesn't have time to think about what is happening. The Lords and Ladies are shocked but Sansa declares her intentions to march North. She knows she needs Littlefinger's support to ensure she has the backing of the Vale so she speaks to him privately afterwards to explain why she conspired behind his back, she also begins to subtly seduce him, she isn't attracted to Littlefinger, nor does she trust him, but she knows what he wants and we begin to realise just how much Sansa has learned from Littlefinger and, although he sees what she is doing, he can't help but be impressed and she wins him over. Littlefinger arranges for himself and the main Lords and Ladies to make the announcement during the tourney, in front of all the nobility of the Vale. They line up at the main podium and Littlefinger tells the Vale that the war isn't over and that they have waited too long to do their part in it. He motivates the crowd and it doesn't take long for them to get motivated to go and fight for honour and glory. He then talks of Lysa, the Tullys, the North, and the Starks close relationship with the Vale and speaks of all the atrocities that befell the family, that is when he declares Sansa's true identity. Sansa appears at the other side of the field, her hair dye washed off, in all her finery, riding a mighty stallion, her beauty clear for all to see, the crowd turn and erupt in cheers. Sansa races toward the podium, dismounts and asks the Vale for their support in helping her retake the North with her brother. The Vale responds with roaring cheers of support. Harry the heir approaches her afterwards, annoyed by the deceit, Sansa realises his pride has been hurt and reassures him she has a duty to her brother and her family and explains why their engagement must come to an end. As sansa has already seduced him, it doesn't take him long to come around and promise to ride north with her and help secure her support with the other houses of the Vale. While marching North, they encounter a small force, concerned at first, riders approach, one of which is revealed to be the Blackfish. He and Sansa are introduced and they soon bond over stories of her mother and their family. The Blackfish informs them that he has reformed the Tully forces and are prepared to march North to support Sansa, in return, she must help him reclaim Riverrun. When they reach the castle, they find the Lannister army gone and only a small garrison protecting the castle. They begin a short seige of the castle. The blackfish, knowing the castle like the back of his hand, leads a small group into a secret entrance and manage to lower the drawbridge and the castle is quickly occupied and Emmon Frey and his Lannister wife are imprisoned as hostages. With Riverrun secure, the Blackfish is able to recruit more of the riverland houses to create a more formidable force to march north. Sansa, the Vale and the Riverland forces, reach the battlefield just in time, Jon's army has taken a huge beating and are losing but when the Vale and Tully forces join the battle, the tide quickly turns and the Starks claim victory. Sansa and Jon are reunited and both are emotional and happy to see each other, they immediately summon the Lords and Ladies of the North to the Great Hall to discuss submission and to swear their allegiance. Lady Dustin is brought forward as a key player in the Boltons rise to power and is unrepentant. Sansa suggests execution but Jon doesn't wish to see her dead. He strips her of her land and titles and is sent to the silent sisters. Lord Manderly then arises and informs both Jon and Sansa of their brothers survival and of Lord Davos' mission to retrieve their true liege lord, Rickon. Both Sansa and Jon are shocked and happy. Sansa glances at Littlefinger and, although he is smiling, she can see his anger. Lord Manderly says his family owes everything to House Stark, but that his support goes to his rightful liege, Eddard Starks true born son. Jon knows that Rickon is only a child and that it will take years before he is ready to rule. He informs the Northern Lords and Ladies of the wars to come and the army of the undead. He says that he loves his brothers and would ordinarily support their claim, but he argues that the Ruler in the North needs to be ready now to bring the North together to prepare for the undead. Manderly and the other Lords and ladies then turn to Jon. He stands, and tells them he is grateful for their support. He then turns towards Sansa. He says that he can't accept it as he is baseborn and that he failed as commander in the nights watch. He tells them that Sansa had nothing when she arrived at the Vale and she left with two armies at her back and that she has brought two new allies to the North. He tells them that Sansa is Eddard Starks eldest surviving trueborn child and is the true heir to Winterfell. The Lords and Ladies begin to bang their flagons of beer on the tables in agreement. Jon removes his sword and kneels in front of her, swearing his allegiance, shouting "The red wolf, the Queen of the North", "The Queen of the North", the Blackfish takes his turn to kneel and proclaims her "The Queen of the North and the Riverlands", cheers are the response of the room. Harry the heir stands. He tells her he hasn't the authority to proclaim her the queen of the Vale but is able to ensure that she has the backing of the Vale, the cheers are deafening. Sansa stands, swords are unsheathed and before she can think of what to do, everyone has knelt and are bowing their heads to her. She glances at Littlefinger, his eyes were gleaming, she knows his intentions, she also knows how to stop them.....

Here's a question for ya... excluding the Starks, other major houses etc., if you had to be a member of a Westerosi house, which would it be? Maybe this is ask is just an excuse to say that I've just now decided I'd be a member of House Royce of Runestone, coz:
– I love runes, natch – Runestone is a banging name for a castle – Runestone is also on the coast, good for those bracing breezes, days out at sea, and some tasty seafood – Also close to Gulltown, so a nice city retreat, access to merchants, the latest townie gossip etc. – In the geography of Westeros, it's northern enough to satisfy my cold weather needs, whilst maybe also having some warmer days – Proud descendants of the First Men, so likely there's a godswood with a weirwood tree at Runestone? They probably worship the seven, but is there some wiggle room there? 👀 – Stark loyalists babeyyyy, through marriage ties and also good taste – Open invitation to the Gates of the Moon through the cousins – Speaking of cousins, related to Myranda so never short of banter – Bronze Yohn Royce with his funky armour is a certified icon – House Royce of Runestone is a second-tier, but still and powerful and respected house, which is a nice spot to be in, not too much responsibility/spotlight, just happy to to do their own thing, manage some ports, swear to bring down pedo pete, etc. – Sexy genes, case in point Waymar Royce
What do you think? Have I made a compelling case? 👀🤓 Would you be a Royce, or another house? I do think being a Hightower could be good for a nerd like me, since Oldtown is a seat of learning, just annoying about that no women policy at the citadel...
CAPPY!
(Yes, I love being your platform for publishing this Royce Manifesto. I do agree they are a great choice! 😊)
I do like the Vale and their little bubble within Westeros, so House Royce would be my top choice there, but I think I would love to be a Mooton at Maidenpool, otherwise. It's another city-by-the-coast combination, so there's some local culture and city life, splendid scenery and that wealth-generating port to fill my pockets, but it also sees more land-based travel than Gulltown, and it has a romantic AND therapeutic tourist attraction. THE Florian and Jonqil pool. Our future is bright.

"There's a dog in your room. Take care of it. Best you don't let your older brother know its there, either." Is this an attempt to get Myranda to bond with Royce? No. But for once, she didn't want to kill the pup. "I nursed her back to life." Instead of giving it a quick death.

Royce stared in disbelief for a long moment, too stunned to say anything in response. It was a while of just a blank gaze, eyes betraying the slightest hint of fear, before he finally gathered his wits enough to speak.
“You what?! You… you’re lying right? You’re joking?”

sansa for the character ask? :)
1. Sexuality headcanon
The Westerosi norms have been so ingrained into Sansa’s head (through songs and co) that she can’t imagine herself being anything else than straight.
2. Otp
I know the Tyrells threw Sansa under the bus when they made her responsible of Joffrey’s death but I really like(d) the Margaery x Sansa ship. Or Wyllas Tyrell ; I think he would be good for her, kind and respectful, and she would looove living in Highgarden (so, Wyllas with Margaery on the side ?)
3. Brotp
Sansa x Mya Stone ! Sansa needs to step away from people who see her only for how they can use her (looking at you, Myranda Royce).
4. Notp
Jonsa. Makes absolutely no sense in characterization. Which wouldn’t bother me, if the shippers weren’t so adamant (and aggressive) about them being canon. (It’s a crackship. Stop pretending it’s anything else than that.)
5. First headcanon that pops into my head
Sansa is gonna be the one holding Winterfell during the War of the Dawn.
6. Favorite line from this character
”I am not your daughter, she thought. I am Sansa Stark, Lord Eddard’s daughter and Lady Catelyn’s, the blood of Winterfell.”
I love this quote, because Sansa has such a strong tendancy to conform to what’s asked of her, to the point of convincing herself that it’s what she wants ; and I love that in her heart she’s not giving up on this, that she’s clinging to her identity, that she’s not giving up to Littlefinger.
7. One way in which I relate to this character
I’m much too polite for my own good.
8. Thing that gives me second hand embarrassment about this character
How she tends to fall back on the same patterns. It takes a ground-breaking event to make her open her eyes to the truth. Like with Myranda Royce : it is so obvious she’s gonna betray her, like Margaery did.
9. Cinnamon roll or problematic fave ?
Oh man, both (though I wouldn’t really call her a “fav” of mine).

What are your thoughts on Sansa and Arya's dynamic? Honestly, i find it to be one of the most interesting in the series. They're literally as different as the moon and the sun, but as Ned said, the same blood runs on both their veins. I just love it.
I LOVE SANSA AND ARYA’S RELATIONSHIP, I love it precisely because it’s not an easy one. (it’s not a mystery that I’m into strained or complicated dynamics that evolve into something better and stronger, or just—different, come on.)Really, what I want the most from these novels is for them to eventually find each other again, or at least some kind of mutual understanding.
i MUST say I’m grumpy about how GRRM polarized them so harshly and in such a gendered way, with Sansa being extra feminine and Arya being the total opposite, I meaaaan… I love opposites (whether they attract or not!) but the ~two girls in a team~ who are at the extremes of the femininity spectrum is such a tired trope, you know? Especially in the context of a family in which everyone else seems to go along super fine. But I talked about it extensively here and probably somewhere else too so I’ll put my criticism aside for once, because even though I don’t approve some of George’s choices, I’m glad that Sansa and Arya’s relationship is NOT perfect, and actually kind of awful in certain aspects. It’s punctuated with mutual contempt, a serious lack of common interests, and calling names (and worse) on Sansa’s part, and….it’s easy, when you love them both, to be blind to the fact that they… don’t like each other? Very much? Which might change (and I’m one of those who firmly believe it WILL change eventually), but as of now, that’s the reality of their relationship, and it’s important to acknowledge it even if, especially if, you’re willing to believe they’ll become closer in the future (I say this as someone who has done the “no but they LOVE each other, they’re sisters!” before, and I think it’s natural to latch on this dynamic and want it to be something slightly different than the way it is in canon, considering the overall lack of positive f/f interactions in the books).
I like Ned’s quote a lot. But what frustrates me a bit is that so far we’ve only basically seen the first part, the sun/moon thing, how different the two girls are. Then Ned says “you need her, as she needs you”. Is that true? Or was just something that Ned said to placate Arya? Will we ever see this sort of yin/yang dynamic play out in the novels?IS THAT FORESHADOWING, GEORGE? Are you going to work on this relationship or not?
‘Cause the problem is that, while their narratives run parallel and tend to mirror each other a lot, Sansa and Arya mention each other very rarely in their internal monologues. Their memories of each other tend to be distant, mostly associated with a general sense of nostalgia of their lost home, so it’s hard to say if they actually miss each other (though I want to believe that Sansa remembering Arya and Arya remembering Sansa in their respective ~descents in the underworld~, while not necessarily affectionate, still helps them ground themselves in their TRUE identity). It’s like their journeys are bringing them closer, yet they aren’t aware of, and it doesn’t seem like George is ready to explore the way they feel about each other yet, and I’m getting impatient.
there’s always the possibility, I guess, that Sansa and Arya will never find in each other what they want from a sister. But I hope they find in each other the sister they need, to quote Ned. Because what they’ll need at the end of the story will be very different from what they needed at the beginning. They’re both fighting to reclaim their Stark identity, when they once wanted to run away from it (Sansa) or just took it a bit for granted (Arya). Even if there’s literally nothing else pulling them closer, blood is. Home is. Their responsibility towards people is. And while this doesn’t automatically mean “love”, the lack of common interests can be replaced with common goals—rebuilding Winterfell, rebuilding the North, this is a burden that every surviving Stark must carry. It can be the basis for a new relationship of mutual respect, if not the adoration and the fluff we all dream for them.
I agree with George when he says that they are going to have a lot of things to discuss when they reunite—things can’t just click into place because they’re happy to see each other, as we’ve seen in the show with Sansa and Jon. I expect some tension about the way Sansa’s actions contributed to Ned’s arrest and execution, and there’s the fact that Sansa is still unable to see with clarity that she bullied Arya, which is something she absolutely needs to acknowledge. So there’s work to do. but I disagree that there’s no hope and no way for them to build a more positive relationship, when most of their issues took place in a childhood that is LONG GONE for both of them. That doesn’t mean that they’ve necessarily outgrown them, but he context that exacerbated their mutual hostility has been wiped out. The adults are gone. The entire courtly/southron culture that Sansa loved so much is being torn apart by war, famine, dragons, and winter. They’re going to have to fight against ICE ZOMBIES, for fuck’s sake. Who is going to shame Arya for her needlework, in this scenario? Who’s going to call her horseface when all the people who remember that nickname are either dead or—unrecognizable, like Jeyne Poole? Will endgame!Sansa care about a ruined dress, will she still wish she had Margaery for a sister? Or idk, Myranda Royce? (’cause I don’t see things with Myranda going particularly well for Sansa in the Vale, but that’s another issue).
Sansa and Arya will meet again as different people, in a completely different world. They’ve changed so much, during their separation. It won’t be exactly a clean slate—I think it’s unrealistic to expect so, as they clearly still carry a lot of baggage of their past relationship, especially Arya—but I strongly doubt Martin took them on these long separate journeys only to have them revert back to their old dynamic.
(I also wouldn’t put much stock in any endgame scenario in which one sister “prevails” over the other—be it Sansa ending up as Arya’s /queen/ or Arya getting, like, actual payback for the things Sansa did in their childhood. I think MAYBE that could have been the case in Martin’s first draft of the story, where Sansa was obviously set up to be a sort of antagonist and there was no deconstruction in that. But with the story in its present form? No.)
there’s a lot more that i should say but this is already too long so

Maester Colemon cares only for the boy, though. Father and I have larger concerns
I like how according to Sansa stans, Jon Snow is this dishonest, deceptive, treacherous asshole and Dany is an evil, mad woman doing evil things like killing slavers in the books. The only good person here is good kween Sansa who is always so kind and only thinking about the well being of others and not of herself!
So let’s take a look at kind, compassionate kween Sansa in the books shall we?
She starts off as a selfish brat who bullies her little sister about her looks and treats Jon differently because he’s born a bastard. She wants to become queen so that she can order Arya around. Later when Joffrey sadistically mauls poor Mycah and tries to hurt Arya with his sword, Sansa chooses to take Joffrey’s side over her own sister – lying about not remembering. For this lack of loyalty to her family, she loses her direwolf.
Let’s recall that kind, compassionate Sansa, till date, does not feel any remorse, regret, empathy or sadness about the way she treated Arya, her betrayal of Ned or what happened to Mycah. Arya feels guilty about Mycah. Arya wants to kiss Sansa and beg her forgiveness.  But Sansa? She keeps blaming Arya for what happened.
When Ned explains to Sansa about how dangerous KL was for them and how he would find her a better person to marry, she runs off to Cersei and tattles about Ned’s plans. This helps Cersei foil Ned’s plans to send the girls off to WF leading to Sansa/Jeyne getting stuck in KL and Arya going on the run. Later, Ned confesses to save Sansa and loses his head, Jeyne is given to LF to be tortured and Arya embarks on a harrowing journey through the riverlands. Again, Sansa never introspects on her own role in any of this even though she is, in GRRM’s own words, partially responsible for Ned’s death.
Sansa denounces Arya as a traitor with traitor’s blood and never even bothers to wonder what happened to her in the immediate aftermath. She is angry about Jeyne crying – the poor girl’s father just died – but no, her crying was annoying to Sansa. In book three, Sansa thinks that she would have preferred to have Margaery as her sister rather than Arya.
Littlefinger then takes her to the Vale as his bastard daughter and not even once does she feel any empathy for how Jon would have felt as a bastard or regret for how she treated him. Rather, she completely forgets that she has a brother still alive until Myranda Royce reminds her of Jon. Even here, Sansa is like – well, all my real brothers are dead and only Jon is left – he will have to do I guess. Oh how nice it will be to see him because he’s the only thing left of her memories of home.
She joins along with LF in framing Marillion for Lysa’s death. Marillion is tortured, blinded and his nails pulled out to get a false confession, but Sansa is more bothered by the tortured man’s constant singing.
She is then warned by Maester Coleman that giving SweetRobin high levels of Sweetsleep is dangerous and could be fatal. Sansa over rides the Maester and demands that he give the child the high dose of the drug because LF knows best and his plans are more important than SR’s well being. She threatens the Maester when he tries to refuse.
“Maester Colemon cares only for the boy, though. Father and I have larger concerns.”
Keep in mind that SweetRobin himself knows that Harry is waiting for him to die to take over and LF himself explains his plans to Sansa about SweetRobin dying so that Sansa can marry Harry.
So here is Sansa calmly participating in the slow poisoning of her little cousin in the Vale so that she can further LF’s plans because he knows best.
By the way, Sansa was there when Cersei hands over Jeyne Poole to Littlefinger and she was there when Lysa Arryn confesses to everything she did to the Starks on LF’s behalf. She neither asks LF about Jeyne or confronts him about everything Lysa said.
Sansa has never introspected on her actions, never shown regret or remorse for her earlier mistakes, never shown loyalty towards her family.
Has she had moments of kindness? Sure. As has Dany, as has Jon, as has Arya, as has Bran. Hell even characters like the Hound and Jaime – people who have tried to kill children – have been kind to others. But Sansa has also had moments of cruelty and selfishness. Her morality is as grey as the other characters – she has shown a willingness to throw others under the bus if it helps her survive.
And this is just the books. On the show she lies to Jon, keeps important information from him, undermines him and was ready to depose him on LF’s say so. Sansa’s loyalty to her family has always been shaky.
So it’s laughable when Sansa fans write big essays about how Jon and Dany are shitty people who are apparently dishonest, treacherous, entitled, impulsive and stupid unlike kind and selfless good kween Sansa who deserves everything good in life.
Since the age excuse is often used to wave away Sansa’s mistakes, keep in mind that Dany and Jon are also children in the books. Dany was 13 in the books when she was raped by Drogo.
Jon and Dany are also leaders – they have to make the tough decisions. GRRM devoted a lot of time to exploring them as leaders – because ruling is hard. Has Sansa ever been in charge in the books?  It’s easy to critique Jon and Dany because they actively do things while Sansa has been for the most part an unwilling pawn in the greater games played by others.
And finally for people calling Jon dishonest and deceptive because he lied to Ygritte and the Wildlings
Tumblr media
Jon was a 14-15 year old prisoner among the wildlings. The only way he knew how to survive was to sleep with the 19 year old Ygritte. Jon did not want to sleep with her. Ygritte knew that he was a crow and yet tells Mance that they are sleeping together and hints to Jon that he is alive because of this. Ygritte sees nothing wrong with this because of the Wildling culture of stealing brides. But Jon is more or less coerced into sleeping with her because of the imbalance of power between them and feeling like he has no choice. He is often wracked with guilt for having sex with her. Sure, he fell in love with Ygritte like Dany fell in love with her rapist. But the element of coercion is a big part of their relationship.
To use this to turn Jon into a LF like treacherous bastard who seduces and manipulates a woman who has also been sexually abused is really something.
The Jonsa/Sansa fandom on tumblr is one of the most toxic fandoms I have come across in GOT where Dany is criticized for daring to talk about her rape and not being humble’ about it like Sansa, Jon is turned into LF because he was sexually coerced into sleeping with Ygritte and they really want one abuse victim to sexually manipulate another abuse victim all for the sake of their ship.  Like damn!
And the worst part is that Jon fans have to constantly read this crap about LF!Jon  because it’s always tagged in the Jon Snow tag – like can’t you stick this shit in the Jonsa tag where you all can gather around and go gaga about the sexual manipulation of abuse victims so that Sansa can get the royal dick and become queen?
And yes, I am tagging it Sansa Stark and Jonsa because if you go guys don’t want to tag your Jon Snow crap in the anti-tag, I am also not going to bother with keeping it out of your tags. So don’t come whining in the comments about tagging.
