The Turmeric Poets (Part III)

For myself, I have yet to find an interpretation that speaks of a potent tender rawness of the bucolic, aurous, inviting texture of “Đây Thôn Vĩ Dạ.” The poem holds the lunular strand of my existence on the prismatic brink of sedated, gilded mahogany, that deliquesced beige, dust-like state between disintegrated mortal recoil of a verdant, ephemeral, cognitive afternoon and my muted, ratiocinative love for a distant Vietnam. Despite encountering what many would consider a noteworthy translation by N.T. Anh in Modern Poetry Translation, the translation struck me as incomplete, somehow lacking or overly sanitized. Motivated by this sense of dissatisfaction, a form of constructive discontent, I embarked on the daunting task of crafting my own translation, drawing on the most authentic vernacular of my lexical lineage.

In the act of translating the text, my aim was not to westernize it, but rather to capture its intrinsic 'nghệness' or its 'yellow spice,' endeavoring to extract not just superficial hints but the tunic of turmeric. Unlike the culinary process of taste-testing a dish to ensure the right balance of salt, pepper, paprika, and turmeric, translation is more about the nuanced garment of soul and soil. It involves posing the correct questions for appraisal. I consistently interrogate myself: does this poetic re-concoction contain an adequate infusion of yellow? Does it bear (bà gánh) the right measure of 'nghệ' or 'duende'? Does it appropriately shoulder the precise weight of (xứ) nghệ?

What makes Christianity different or true? Part 4/4
Christianity brings purpose and a sense of belonging to each person's life
As part of my own personal testimony when I was converted to Christ, I quickly developed a new sense of purpose for my life. God has a plan for each life including you and me. Our lives are not accidental, but we can only begin to discover our life’s purpose once we become Christian believers.
Christianity produces a sense of belonging.
Large numbers of people today are lonely, with a Cigna study showing up to 61% of Americans to be lonely. [1]
Our loneliness problems have been compounded by the rise of things such as the impersonal social media, the isolation from the pandemic, and lockdowns etc. There is something in human beings that causes us to want to belong with other humans, in groups, families and other relationships.
The Christian ethos recognizes the human need for belonging as a space that can only be filled by a relationship with God, and this is only possible through belief in Jesus Christ’s death on the cross and his resurrection from the dead.
Towards the end of his ministry, Jesus prayed,
“I have given them the glory you gave me, so they may be one as we are one. I am in them, and you are in me. May they experience such perfect unity that the world will know that you sent me and that you love them as much as you love me.” (John 17:22-23)
A Christian worldview is founded on the understanding that Jesus made a way for every believer to have a personal relationship with God and thereby to come into unity with other believers.
This is the primary definition of purpose—to know God and to be known by God.
There is a tremendous security in knowing an unconditional love that you do not have to earn. That is a primary difference between how a Christian worldview defines purpose and how a secular worldview defines purpose.
In a secular worldview, you have to earn purpose.
As a Christian, purpose is innate.
Christianity reveals God’s plan for each life which brings security.
How does the Christian worldview describe purpose in this sense?
Well, it starts with the fact that God has a plan for your life.
Psalm 16:5-6: “Lord, you alone are my portion and my cup.
you make my lot secure.
The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places.
surely, I have a delightful inheritance.”
Psalm 139:5: “You hem me in behind and before,
and you lay your hand upon me.”
God’s overall purpose for humanity includes your life purpose.
A Christian worldview also asserts that God weaves your purpose into His larger purpose for the world. On a grander scale, God’s purpose is to restore a world broken by sin.
Jesus lived out this larger purpose as described in Luke 4:18-19, and you could say that this was Jesus’ manifesto or mission statement.
New Testament scholar N.T. Wright describes this weaving of your purpose into his overall purpose this way:
“What you do in the present—by painting, preaching, singing, sewing, praying, teaching, building hospitals, digging wells, campaigning for justice, writing poems, caring for the needy, loving your neighbour as yourself—will last into God’s future. These activities are not simply ways of making the present life a little less beastly, a little more bearable, until the day when we leave it behind altogether. They are part of what we may call building for God’s kingdom.” [2]
In a Christian worldview, every believer actively participates in God’s universal plan. The result is a deep sense of purpose that nothing else can replace.

Apples and Tilly trees or a lingustic excursion in Narnia translation
a bit too deep dive by yours truly, since @loveliness-and-prattle and @keendaanmaa asked so nicely on a "how do you pronounce Calormen" post and I love this niche subject a tad bit too much.
Some basics: I'm from Slovenia, Slovene is my mother tounge and I love it, I think it's fascinating. It's part of the Southern-Slavic language group, and due to its historical development it shares certain traits and words with Germanic, Romanic and Eastern-European languages. A true linguistic parkland of grammatical diversity that would make Pulverulentus Siccus weep tears of pure joy, no doubt.
The first time Lewis's The Chronicles of Narnia (published 1950-1057) were translated was in the 1990s, well after Slovenia's independence in 1991. I suspect the reason behind such a late publication lies in the fact that Lewis is a known and influential Christian apologetic, and the socialist government of Yugoslavia enforced quite a censorship on anything that smelled remotely like foreign or religious press. Proprietors of such publications found themselves under surveillance, in interrogation or even prison and the material confiscated. The first translation was made by a man who was primarily a historian, a wery-well read one; his language style is somewhat archaic, but in the very best sense, like fine wine. The newer translation was made after the popularity and interest soared with the 2005 film, produced and printed by the more secular publishing house with one of their own translators for foriegn children's books. Its expressions are more simplistic, adapted to what millenials like myself at that age would understand but in my taste somewhat lacks the archaic quality, which I noticed only after reading the English original. But more later in examples, as most of this might make zero sense to anyone who knows nothing about Slovenian language. That's on the style of translation.
And now on translating examples, for which you are here: is it a literal translation, an adaptation to help Slovene pronounciation or has it not changed? Well, a little bit of everything I guess. I shan't write all the translations, just the titles and lands and main characters.
The translations of book titles (in publication order):
(o.t. - older translation), (n.t.-newer translation), (b.-both)
The lion, the witch and the wardrobe - Lev, čarovnica in omara (b.) Literal translation.
Prince Caspian - Princ Kaspijan (b.) Caspian's personal name was adapted to the way it's pronounced in English - "C" is pronounced as "K" and the ending "-ian" gets a "j", which in Slovenian is pronounced much like how the Germans pronounce the letter "j"; a small sound, but to be included.
The voyage of the Dawn Treader - Potovanje Jutranje zarje (o.t.) - mostly literal, though it's interesting how the name of the ship "Dawn Treader" is translated as "Jutranja zarja", literally "morning dawn". If "treader" as in someone who treads, a wayfarer, would be translated too, it would be more like the newer translation, "Potovanje Potepuške zarje" (n.t.), as "zarja" means "dawn" and the adjective "potepuške" describes someone who travels, but more in the sense of a vagabond, a stray, in a negative sense.
The silver chair - Srebrni stol (b.) literal translation.
The horse and his boy - Konj in njegov deček (o.t.), literal, though the use of word "deček" for "boy" is grammatically more corect, it's becoming almost archaic in Slovene, this is probably why the newer version opts for "Konj in njegov fantič"(n.t.), which is a more used word for "boy" though it's a miniscule of "fant", grammatically speaking only acceptable in conversational Slovene and stylistically marked.
The magician's nephew - Čarovnikov nečak (b.) literal translation
The last battle - Poslednja bitka (n.t.) is a litteral translation, and semantically slightly more correct than the older version, "Poslednji boj" (o.t.). "Bitka" means battle, and "boj" means more a fight, or even battle in a broader, archaic sense, which is why its translator probably used it.
On lands' names:
In "Narnia", the "i" in Slovene version gets a "j", as "Caspian" did above, so "Narnija". Simmilar with "Calormen", just the "C" is replaced with "K" so "Kalormen". Telmar stays the same, Anvard is the same, so is Cair Paravel. Tashbaan is just adapted to "Tašban"; letter "š" marks the sound of "sh". Likewise in Charn, the sound "ch" is written with the letter "č", so Čarna. The -a suffix at the end indicates that Čarna has a feminine grammatical gender, as do almost all countries in Slovenian language. In Slovenian, inanimate objects can have either feminine, masculine or neutral grammatical gender because of its declination, like in German and Latin.
"Archenland" is calqued to "Pradežela", an ancient land, so are some of the parts in Narnia, like Dancing Lawn, The Stone Table, Beaversdam, The Lantern Waste, Western Woods. Some port and island names from VDT are also calqued, like Narrowhaven, which becomes "Tesnaluka" (ot.), a literal translation meaning "a narrow haven". The newer "Zakotnjan"(n.t.) is not a calqued, but a somewhat translation, which sounds a bit funny, because it means "that place/town in the corner", as in off-hand, remote, forgotten.
Personal names:
The children's names were mostly just adapted to the Slovene version, as we too have people named Peter, Suzana (Susan) and Lucija (Lucy). Edmunds are rare, so it just stayed the same. Digory Kirke was unchanged. Polly Plummer was just changed to Poli (n.t.) (as "y" is pronounced as "i")(couldn't get info on the old version). Jill Pole was called Julija Pol (o.t.), which is closer to Juliet and the last name stayed the same. The newer version names her Jelka Preklar (n.t.) a somewhat literal translation, as "pole" as in a wooden post, a bigger stick also called "prekla" in Slovene. This word is usually used to describe lanky, tall people, in a slightly joking manner. "Jelka" means "fir tree" and is a normal female name here. So she too, gets a bit of an unfortunate name, like her friend, Eustace Clarence Scrubb. He was translaed to "Evstahij Grmič" (o.t.), "grmič" meaning more of a small shrubbery, whereas the newer verion is very unfrogiving with "Ščetka", literally a scrubb or a brush. Either way, it is as unfortunate as Lewis intended, so mission accomplished I guess. Though it would be noted, that the older verion declinates the female person's last name, so it's not "Julija Pol" but rather "Julija Polova", so the last name takes the form of an adjective (like Russian names).
We already saw what happend to Caspian's name, so maybe just note that all his descendants and friends, whose names end in "-ian" also get that phonetic "j"- so Drinijan, Rilijan, Tirijan.
Aslan stays the same. It means Lion in Turkish, but i bet you knew that.
The creatures mostly get translated names (Bree and Hwin being exceptions with only phonetical transcription - Bri and Hvina- and Tumnus staying the same), I'll just mention some I found interesting: Reepicheep becomes "Repicvil" (o.t.) meaning "Squeaktail", and "Cviličil" (n.t.) meaning "Squeaker". Kinda disrespectful, but I guess they were trying to mimic the onomatopoea of his name. Dufflepuds get to be "Cepetački" (n.t.) meaning someone with restless small stamping feet and "Traponogci", "silly-feet". Puddleglum is "Mlakočmer" (o.t.) which is a literal translation, and "Tarnavko" (n.t.), which means "Complainy" or "Whiny" and has nothing to do with puddles.
Interestingly, the villains mostly get to keep their original names: Jadis, Miraz, Rabadaš. The exception is Shift, becoming "Zvitež" (o.t.), which is a close translation (means cunnig, shifty), and "Lumpež" (n.t.), meaning naughty person, a rascal. And Lady of the Green Kirtle just gets literally translated to "Gospa Zelene obleke" (o.t.) and "gospa zelenih oblačil" (n.t.), though this last one has "oblačil" which just means clothing in general, whereas "obleke" does mean a dress specifically.
To conclude this already unseemingly long Kranjska sausage of a post, i would like to say that the reason behind the translator's choice to change names was simply to bring the story closer to the reader. Because it's a children's book and children do not usually posess vast semantic and etimological knowledge, especially not in a foreign tounge, so it's much more reader-friendly to translate names to something that has the same meaning or adapt to correct pronounciation when a name is just a name. This sort of linguistic fiddling is later fun to a 20-something Narnian with an amateur's love for comparative translations. I hope I gave you some idea how translating worked in this particular case, and if you have any interesting translational comparisons from other languages, please share them, I would love to see them. Also if you have any specific questions on the topic, feel free to send me an ask.
On my personal experience in translating: I'm an amateur, my only experience comes from making subtitles for films/series for viewing with friends who don't understand English so fluently as not to need subtitles. But I learned a lot, also by watching/listening to some really bad examples of dubbing/subtitles.
I could also tell you about how some translators here in Slovenia became somewhat famous because they translated some of the biggest works of fiction to Slovene, but that's a bucket of sardines for another round of tea.

Naruto
Basically you guys don't get along since day one
You are the opposite of each other
Naruto is noisy and full of energy; you are quiet and get tired (n.t.: annoyed) easily
He can't stop talking about how he will become a great ninja and the village's Hokage; you have 0 interest in anything related to it and can't think of something worse than being the village's leader, which would mean work and more work
His grades were a shame at the Academy; yours were ok
Naruto can't understand how someone would not have any ambitions regarding the shinobi world and doesn't miss any chance to judge you as the nosy kid he is
You spend your time as far from him as possible, not because you fear his comments but because you can't stand him
Eventually, as you work more together, you start focusing more on your missions and less in each other's flaws
You start respecting his determination and sense of justice, and he starts to accept that not everybody has the same views in life and that's ok
You even go to Ichiraku and joke around from time to time
You start to think more of how you're going in life
Sakura
At first it's the same as with Naruto
But unlike with the Uzumaki who puts his dream ahead of anything, Sakura puts another person ahead of herself
That would never make a difference to you if she just kept quiet about it, but no, the girl is always talking (directly or not) about how Sasuke is this and that

She's not the biggest fan of yours either
Despite being familiar with you since the Academy, your grades and abilities never meant too much for her (they didn't mean much to you actually)
The good thing about this is that there's no competition between you, since her grades were always the best
However, while you're reasonably good in fighting and the use of weapons, her practical performances weren't great, so that sometimes a bit of conflict between you are inevitable
Things only calm down when let it clear that you have absolutely no interest in competing with her, and even less in Sasuke
Tbh you don't understand what Sakura sees in that guy
After that, you kinda start a friendly relationship
You find out some things in common outside the ninja world
She gives you some tips about shinobi theory while you give her tips about practical work
You learn to respect each other with this
Sasuke
Tbh there aren't many things to say about Sasuke and you
You almost don't interact with each other
Part of it is because you don't see reasons to do it and the other part is because both of you want to avoid Sakura's scenes
You find each other uninteresting in general, and sometimes annoying: you who don't want to do anything at all and him who only thinks of his vengeance
The only thing putting you together is the fact that you're part of team 7
So inevitably you have to work together
With time, you find out you can make a reasonably good work: you have different talents and abilities, but they kinda match
It's not enough for you to develop a close friendship, but you start respecting each other
Kakashi
Ok there's a reason why I left Kakashi-sensei for the end of this list
At first, he's the worst of your new team mates
He's after you all day, almost as much as he does with Naruto
Maybe he's more frustrated with you than with Naruto, because unlike him you don't make much effort or have a great ambition
You're just there, doing what you have to do and not wanting anything else
Since you don't know him for a long time, he seems intrusive with his persistence
You try to push him away in any way you can, but without being disrespectful
Without realizing, you start working harder to get good results in the missions just to not having him pissing you off later
To your surprise, it works: you improve your abilities and analyzing skills, and he starts to trust you more
You're kinda irritated that his strategy to make you work more succeeded, but you're also content with your progress
You start meeting and having conversations outside your missions
Kakashi is not that open about his feelings or his past, but he's wise and always has great advice
You start to feel at will to seek for his help and guidance
And contrary to what you first imagined, he's not judgmental, so it's good to have him around
You also notice how he cares about his students and does his best even when circumstances don't collaborate
You start to consider taking your activities as a ninja more seriously, both because of them and because yourself

Toshiki Inoue Interview about Shougeki Gouraigan and an overview of his writing process
This interview was published in the booklet with the first BD set of the series Interviewer: Please tell us how you became the main writer of "Shougeki Gouraigan!!"
Inoue: I got a call from Amemiya saying "It's been a long time, let's work" and I said "Ah, got it". Actually when we met, for the first step we started with approaching the setting of "Light vassal" and "Shadow vassal". Broadly I wanted to make something like a comedy but he wouldn’t listen to me.
Interviewer: Then director Amemiya wrote on his personal blog that Gouraigan would have aim to be a "strange thing"
Inoue: Maybe he was already tired with the same old stuff. (LAUGH) Even for action, he's not even using stuff like wires in town, because he portrays actions in an odd dimension. So he had in mind in the first place some kind of battlefield for actions. After that, to evoke that feeling of "strange thing" , the costumes (TN: the proper term used for costumes is kigurumi which means something like "cartoony costumes") interact in a contest of ordinary life, right? That's the main ingredient, it's not the costumes doing laundry. It's the gap related to daily life that's funny. I think that we moved in order to make that the core of the comedy.
Interviewer: There must have been several meetings, right?
Inoue: We sure had a lot of them, before putting hands in the scenario in order to decide the direction of the show.
Interviewer: That includes director Amemiya?
Inoue: Of course, but it’s like even he couldn’t figure out what to make out of this program? (LAUGH) It’s not a matter to just depend on his ideas, but i wonder how much time it would have taken to reach a common ground. It’s like we committed to pull it through, in the beginning. But, in the middle everyone gave up! It’s that sort of a show (LAUGH)
Interviewer: Considering it’s a comedy, everyone will have a different approach to it, and sure it will be hard to make them grasp this to those who want to watch it.
Inoue: Even if there was the concept of the gap made by the suits interacting in an ordinary life it didn’t pass so well I think. I even tried to convey it from the start in the script. Aaaaaah, why did it happen? I couldn’t make it pass. Not even once in that program. It’s not that a good point? When it comes to making the suits ridiculous you make them ridiculous. Usually everyone looks forward to the transformation, it elevates the coolness of the suits, but this product prefers to degrade this. That sure is new (LAUGH). It's Amemiya's idea. Rather than consecrating the suits you make them look uncool as they are. That’s the kind of treat they get.
Interviewer: In tokusatsu there’s a certain depiction of transformations' scenes
Inoue: In that way we turned around that conception
Interviewer: Depicting the suits in an ordinary life it sure makes harder the problem of giving the action scenes a peculiar flavor this time
Inoue: Isn’t this the cause of the battles in those odd dimensions? With stuff like the sophisticated mandala and that game feel in it, i think their purpose is to make the mind go “AAAAH”
Interviewer: Since they’re usually under human form, they really can return into the Light vassal form at any time, right?
Inoue: The human is a disguise, or rather that’s the point of view of the Light vassal, but what about the situation where “These humans are illusions” under their human eyes? It would be easy to accept such a situation. Maybe once they turn into humans even the point of view should be human. That is, their appearance is disguised by some kind of light that affects the human eyes, could it be? Because Light vassal (LAUGHS). Anyway that’s a directional matter, that’s why in the script I omitted the hints that indicate the human parts and Light vassal parts. So when you read the script I think it doesn’t turn out to be interesting. When it comes to watching it on screen though I find it very interesting.
Interviewer: I got the impression that the writing style differed from your previous works, were there any critical parts?
Inoue: It might be close to Changerion a little. I wrote it a long time ago but it’s still my reference point as a comedy. Sometimes I’m prone to write them. That’s why I didn’t find particular challenges concerning this product. Since the opportunity showed up again, I want to write comedies whenever there’s a chance
Interviewer: What comes to your mind when you write your ideal comedy?
Inoue: It’s true that Comedies are hard. You can’t make them pass as a low product, but it's no good to treat them as something intellectual. That’s why it’s important to have a lot of ideas. Then the dialogues. Situational dialogues are the bread and butter of comedy.
Interviewer: Any favourite part?
Inoue: In the first episode when Homeless Yamashita said something like “When life gets you a hangover, drinking will sober you up”, when I watched it on TV I thought it was a good line (LAUGH). Many good lines kept coming to my mind, That’s why I didn’t worry too much about it.
Interviewer: So there’s the impression that this work went according to your expectations, right?
Inoue: You can say it. Well, there’s a direction that makes everyone proceed according to expectations, it went mostly like this. But when it comes to shooting it the reactions were really perplexed. It mostly went according to the script but people were “What did you make us shoot!”. It’s just that in this kind of program people who disagree are really picky. I think there were a lot of unagreeable people.
Interviewer: As if they didn’t know what they wanted.
Inoue: Yeah. So it’s not a matter whether this program is good or bad. It’s more like a matter of if you can accept it for what it is. As a matter of course this program would get complaints.
Interviewer: There are people who also demanded to make it more serious right?
Inoue: A lot. It’s really a program that neglects that kind of person. There are also a lot of people who can’t understand where the fun is.
Interviewer: With its late night slot broadcasting, did you have in mind an adult audience?
Inoue: It came up something like that during the planning meetings, the scene of Hitomi making a bath would have certainly been accepted. But with tacit consent, I went to write scenes with sexual appeal as I wished, even Amemiya was left alone when filming in this regard.
Interviewer: The Navi outlook was really something
Inoue: I was surprised too (LAUGH)
Interviewer: When it came to broadcasting, any impression that striked you?
Inoue: The first episode is still sane (LAUGH). It may be a bit hard to understand it though. With stuff like human form and light vessel form, the point of view gradually changes. But watching it with the young staff they said “That’s not true, viewers can keep up this far”. But I got nothing that made me think of that, what about it?
Interviewer: The goal of the story, or how should i put it, it started with no explanation at all of the circumstances, I was surprised.
Inoue: That’s why the point of the drama has become whether they can keep up or not.
Interviewer: At the start of the first episode, the meta narration of Hitomi got me surprised
Inoue: That was an important device, it’s thanks to this that the events were easy to follow yet. We sorted out her feelings by placing her point of view on matters. If it wasn’t for that the scenario would have been all over the place I think. This program is all about Hitomi, or rather she’s really the main pivot. The first episode flows through the scenes involving Hitomi, in these scenes it also became a proclamation of intents that this program is meant to be funny. The gist of it, this product could be seen easily as the story of Hitomi’s personal growth.
Interviewer: On the screen even the supporters made an appearance (N.T: I made supporters = 黒子-> Kuroko are usually black guys on the background in theatre that put on scene any kind of theatrical postures, for example in the Ran episode whenever she transforms artificial butterflies pop up with the black dressed supporters or when Sailor gamer transforms the same dressed supporter lady pops up to undress her to change her clothes)
Inoue: That’s a directional matter, same with the Hitomi narration, i think it was established to give a certain touch to the product
Interviewer: Were there any solid directions from Amemiya about the development of the story of the characters and their backgrounds and the like, right?
Inoue: There were some regarding the characters like “The path is clear!” It's not a line that I put, Amemiya wanted it! It’s like a line that fits a character that confronts the sea shouting at it. Eventually, other characters' backgrounds were picked for me
Interviewer: Besides Gou were there any rough spots with other characters?
Inoue: More or less I developed the characters as they were talking to each other. But in the end many things came up when I was in the process of writing which I gave life to it. That’s why there weren’t any characters that were particularly hard to write (LAUGH). It went all smoothly. The most troublesome aspect was the Light Vessels’ lifestyles. That’s where the comedy parts are, it was hard to make them whatever in a riciclation shop or rather it was troublesome to think about it. Sexual scenes with suits floated in my head but when it came to writing them I didn't find them funny. Making some kind of osè skits when they were humans felt wrong yet. It’s precisely because they were designed for the suits that it can be said that the scenes were funny. Comedy and skits are separate matters.
Interviewer: Is there a favourite character?
Inoue: Hitomi was the most fun to write. With her rakugo mania, her aloofness, like a guy who’s fine with shutting himself off. In this environment Gou and the others brought her chaos. Hitomi’s absenceness of mind or rather her dull emotions was a really important factor. Then there’s Jin. it makes sense that he gives off a feeling of being out of place. And it makes sense too that Gou is a straightforward character. it’s stupid eh, just stupid (LAUGH).
Interviewer: Kinda all the Light Vessels are… (LAUGH)
Inoue: That’s true, everyone’s stupid. Sure no one is smart (LAUGH). But because they went to Earth there’s a sort of a gap. You can also say that when they arrived on Earth they got exposed to a lot of new stuff so they get more and more dense.
Interviewer: Originally the characters should have been passionate and wise right?
Inoue: It wasn’t thought of what kind of characters would have inhabited the Spirit World. Just, more or less they commited sins, so I had to put something to fit the occasion in everyone and putting something that would have made them not detached from the world would have been a little wrong.
Interviewer: Isn’t the character of the old lady really appealing?
Inoue: when the Light Vessels got all assembled, I thought that she would get too bothersome. Since depicting her like a young wife or in search of specific attention would have come out wrong in the moment. (LAUGH) There are Shou and also Hitomi, so the atmosphere would have changed up too much in the end. That’s why placing her as a perfect nanny was no good.
Interviewer: Inoue, did you have to go personally to the filming location to make instructions directly?
Inoue: I went just once but it wasn’t for this case at all. I couldn’t be there that much when they planned for the shooting periods, but the shop set was amazing, I was surprised.
Interviewer: You had to go to have a talk with the actors, right?
Inoue: Whenever I went it was mostly for that. Even if this is the case, I had the occasion to meet them in this regard once.
Interviewer: How did everyone get along?.
Inoue: It was full of youthness. It was full of spirit and they were good young lads.
Interviewer: If there were some stories behind this program please tell us!
Inoue: When the program was about to start the broadcast I went to drink with the staff, I was scolded to have drunk a very expensive wine (LAUGH). At the time everyone was fixed with the program and the feeling was great. It was fun to have a drink together. The directors were all zealous guys, so I think they had inside their head the purpose of this comedy. So we talked about various things. There was an episode like that.
Interviewer: From episode 1 to 4 please tell us what to look forward to.
Inoue: Gou starts the searching of the Dark Vessels alone but eventually he will make friends. Each character's introductions are surely interesting. There’s this sort of feeling that I like that gets you excited as the episodes go that it’s like “What kind of character will show up next?”. The exchanges with the leading actors and new characters are funny too. Please look forward to that.

Happy Easter everyone, my family is christian so we spend it on a different day. And that thing in my hand is some bakery covered in sugar and sprinkles(no idea how to translate its name to English)...also I couldn't find my color pencils so I had to draw using old ones I found...
Also I try to draw myself as accurately as possible and I actually have different colored eyes(one almost black and one brown) and.. also I have some.... Weird black marks in my eye since birth...

NT and LD. The good thing is you can even creative together and come up with new ideas and think about them before they're mature. Bad thing is there's a feeling of abandonment there, having fallen from grace or being left out. It didn't hurt the energy rn, because I see there's communication, but this feeling is there, five of pentacles vibes. Someone doesn't feel smart (like queen of swords + hierophant both reversed).
NT and GN. Generous people with a fairy tale ending here. Pretty nice. The bad thing is the two people are stuck in a situation (valid and important that should be attended to) that's stopping them to become closer but that will change. What the two of you want as a relationship will be possible. So the bad thing is: it's not perfect yet because both are busy or can't somehow, but you'll be able to become closer. One of you can be up at night wanting to develop something romantic but sit and wait because a friendship needs to be further developed and then you'll see what happens. It may just be wanting a closer bond tho, not romantic if that doesn't apply. Anyway, nice one, good vibes only and two responsible people here. Both energies match here! This makes me happy.

March 15, 2021 – In Which Soren Posts Half Developed Ideas that Would Make for a Great Book
Okay.
So, this Psalm was written as a poem to a king (most likely Solomon) to commemorate his wedding day.
That’s it.
It drives me bonkers that other theologians try to read these hidden depths of marital allegory about Christ and the Church.
No.
Stop that.

Trying to read hidden or deeper meaning into Scripture is how we get heretical shenanigans. Evangelicals will criticize certain churches for reading additional meanings into Biblical texts yet they are prone to adding additional meaning with anything involving marriage or sex.
Sorry people, Song of Solomon is about sex and marriage. Anyone who is trying to read Jesus and salvation into that really needs to talk to a therapist that specializes in sexuality.
I will concede this point, Jesus as a bridegroom is a light metaphor in certain bits of N.T.
The book of Revelation and even the Gospels use a metaphor of Jesus returning like a finance to marry his bride after being gone for a long time. The idea is that after a long wait, Jesus finally returns and there is much cause to celebrate.
This metaphor is not intended to be pushed too far.
Why?
Jesus said he as coming back soon in Revelation 22:12.
“Soon” was a little under two thousand years ago.
Taking this metaphor too literal can be a reason to do nothing while waiting for Jesus to show up.
However., the metaphor can also become becomes creepy and disturbing of someone pushes the Jesus marrying the church metaphor further than intended.
I know I am not the only person who gets disturbed by this weird fixation on Jesus/marriage metaphors for salvation.
This would require a lot of time to research (and God knows I don’t have that right now) but I have to wonder at the reasons for trying to shoehorn Christianity into every bit of the Old Testament, regardless of how illogical or asinine it sounds.
Is this a theological attempt to erase the Jewish presence from Scripture?
Something to ponder and contemplate.
