i think there’s a part of buck—a part that exists very, very deep in his subconscious—that has feared being accused of being in love with eddie from the moment he realized he liked men. like, if we circle back to 7x05, eddie is the only person buck is scared of coming out to. he does it fine with everyone else, on accident, brushing off the importance of it. but with eddie we had a whole episode avoiding it. his relationship with eddie is the only one that could be fundamentally impacted by that change. a part of buck was maybe scared, irrationally, that eddie might think it now means he is in love with him.
so when tommy brings it up in 8x11, this thing that has been eating away at buck for almost a year at this point, he goads tommy into saying it. it’s obvious tommy was referring to eddie but buck wanted him to voice it, he wanted someone, anyone to say it aloud. he wanted to hear those fears said to him for the first time, maybe because in a way it almost validates this crazy part of him that he repressed down. honestly, i think buck is relieved someone finally said it so he could start arguing his case.
the problem is, when he finally starts speaking the arguments he’d prepared—“eddie’s straight”, “this isn’t even really his house”, “it just isn’t like that”—he realizes that, actually, no one actually believes him. that’s what pisses him off the most, what sent him over the edge with tommy. then the, “everyone wants me to be hopelessly pining for my straight best friend,” when absolutely no one said that! those are his own fears that have manifested. and what’s even worse than all this is—it might even be true. but i think buck will avoid that until something snaps.

Can we talk about how Dylan George is presented as a piece of shit but ends up being the only one of the outies who truly treats his innie as an adult, taking into account their desires and feelings, and even sees them as a part of himself to admire and look up to? Can we talk about how Dylan George never paternalizes Dylan G like Mark Scout does with Mark S, nor does he treat him as a tool like Helena Eagan treats Helly R? Can we understand how Dylan George, despite everything that might bother him about his wife’s relationship with his innie, understands that his innie is attracted to her because, despite everything, his wife is his world and it makes sense to him that his innie would see her that way too, and admires his innie’s ability to be the person that, due to circumstances, he has stopped being? I mean, what a marvel Dylan George is. He basically gets it all. That “I would like you to stay alive because I think knowing you’re there makes me a better person, but you can choose whatever you want because I understand you are independent of me, and I have no right to decide for you, because even knowing you are part of me, I still see you as an individual and not as an extension” that represents his letter is pure brilliance. Mark Scout treats Mark S like a rebellious and ungrateful child, and Helena Eagan treats Helly R like a means, not even considering her a being with her own consciousness, but Dylan George treats Dylan G like a fucking person. Totally unexpected but wonderful.

idk about y’all but i think a woman who is clearly very smart, who has been severance-experimented on for two years and has 25 innies, who just experienced a severance moment and who just reunited with her husband who was covered in blood just to find her and couldn’t stand to not be kissing and holding her for a single second… i think she can put two and two together and recognise that it’s not her mark who turned away from her. she’s heartbroken because he either was also made to sever or chose to sever (either option is painful!) and because they were just reunited and now he is being taken away from her again but i sincerely doubt she doesn’t realise that he’s not the same guy. put some respect on my woman’s name honestly.

Mark S created by Mark to forget the pain of losing Gemma but she’s still “in his veins” as Devon and Petey point out, making things hurt. I don’t care what others say (looking at you Ben Stiller), innie Mark had a connection - and feelings - towards Gemma. He just didn’t know what it was, but that connection is what made him so damn good at his job. Because Mark loves Gemma so much and it bleeds into his innie.
And then, even as she’s being torn apart into these different versions of herself, Dichen saying that all of Gemma’s innies trust Mark instinctively because Gemma is in love with Mark. He’s aiding in this unspeakable harm being done to her (unknowingly, I need to emphasize, because it’s all FUCKING LUMON taking advantage of these two) and all of her still trusts him. He could walk into any of those rooms and she would always follow him out.
That is why Lumon’s test failed. They didn’t anticipate that the connection would survive despite Gemma’s tempers being balanced. How is such a scientifically based company not understanding that their product would ultimately fail in the real world because of unknown variables? Everything in Lumon is controlled to such an insidious degree but people in the real world are messy and complicated and much more complex than the sterile white halls of their building.
Hell, severance doesn’t even work within their own building! The innies still creating connections with each other, their jobs, finding love in what they do and with each other!
Severance fails! It will always fail! Because the love bleeds through no matter what, even in the deepest pit of Hell that they constructed for Gemma, Mark and Gemma’s love remains strong enough to defy their technology. To transcend through it all.

this doesn’t fit that well because I’m sure Milchick doesn’t do the budgets but I just want to know why they had only one security guard and when he got murdered they never got another one

by choosing to stay in the cycle they broke the cycle btw. because the cycle relies on the unwillingness of its participants. “every time you find yourself here it’s because [your outie] chose to come back.” almost every time their outies brought them there it was against their will. but the outies weren’t going to bring them back this time. so they simply didn’t leave.
