WHAT DOES YOUR MUSE SMELL LIKE?  aeron - old spice body spray. it's not intentional but its the same line of fragrance that jacob made himself back in arthurian times. jacob - vanilla, musk and cedar. he grinds up the spices himself and adds it to water and sprays himself it every morning to mask the sense of sweat throughout the day.

WHAT DO YOUR MUSE’S HANDS FEEL LIKE?  rough, both jacob and aeron hands are tough from their lines of work. whether it be jacob working out in the farm land after he is disowned or aeron loving to do garden work in merlin's yard.

WHAT DOES YOUR MUSE USUALLY EAT IN A DAY?  in the morning both get a piece of fruit. either an apple or some kind of peach with some oats on the side. afternoon, aeron makes a sandwich or gets take out. jacob picks on berries or eats some soup. dinner, aeron likes pasta or salad. sometimes he does eat hamburgers and some fries. jacob eats soup that is left over from the afternoon and maybe some form of meal he hunted.

DOES YOUR MUSE HAVE A GOOD SINGING VOICE?  Jacob, yes. Aeron is tone deaf.

DOES YOUR MUSE HAVE ANY BAD HABITS OR NERVOUS TICKS? when jacob is nervous, he plays with his fingers or runs his fingers on the hem of his tunic. he won't make eye contact and get be quieter than usual. aeron, withdrawls and can rock himself or he has the need to listen to music or be busy. when having a panic attack he paces and can pull at his hair or pinch at his fingers. if its really bad then he'll find a corner to hide in or a closet and curl up in a ball.

WHAT DOES YOUR MUSE USUALLY LOOK LIKE / WEAR? jacob's hair on top of his head is longer than his sides. he has a mohawk. he wears beaten tunics and dark trousers with old boots. when he is a noble, he dresses in the best his time can offer. aeron keeps his hair short. it sticks up normally because he has no patient to style it. he wears button down shirts with a tank top underneath and black jeans. his shoes are whatever skater sneakers he can find. when he's working, he wears a t shirt thats dark and fitted jeans along with boots.

IS YOUR MUSE AFFECTIONATE? HOW SO? both are very affectionate with their partners. aeron loves to cuddle, kiss and just to be around his person. he'll info dump alot and can just sit in the same room in silence. jacob loves to cuddle. he loves hugs, to hold hands, kiss and gift small items he finds in nature on his travels.

WHAT POSITION DOES YOUR MUSE SLEEP IN?  jacob sleeps on his back near his sword. aeron sleeps on his side and curls up in a ball.

COULD YOU HEAR YOUR MUSE IN THE HALLWAY FROM ANOTHER ROOM? no. not unless aeron is playing his video games without headphones or has music or the tv playing for background noise. he's normally fairly quiet unless he's yelling at his teammates during a stream. jacob is quiet, you won't hear him.

Little reminder that persecutors are people!!! And they deserve help, recognition and compassion!!!

Here's an excerpt from "Formation and Functions of Alter Personalities in Dissociative Identity Disorder: A Theoretical and Clinical Elaboration"

(Slightly edited by me to make it slightly more readable. This was written by Turkish researchers in Turkey/Türkiye universities which is probably why there are some orthographic errors)

ⅰ. It is single-minded in judgement. The persecutory alter personality tries to disconnect the relationship of the host with the perpetrators. In fact, it is a helper character at the beginning. However, the revictimization experiences of the host turns it to a persecutor. It carries all defense and coping mechanisms which were utilized during the traumatic experience.

ⅱ. The persecutory personality remembers traumatic experiences and tries to develop solutions in a rather masculine way. It intends to destroy perpetrators and also the host as it allows perpetrators to victimize the subject.

ⅲ. It carries anger-related emotions.

ⅳ. The persecutor is not interested in the character of the host. It considers the host just as a submissive character and ridicules it. The persecutor is self-focused, it represents the powerful aspect of the pre-dissociated person.

ⅴ. The persecutor is attracted by individuals who look powerful and wants to develop relationships with them (Table 1).

Now, do I think this is a bit of an outdated view on alters and their roles? Pretty much. I don't get how to "develop solutions in a rather masculine way" (I think it's saying masculine instead of aggressive? I can't tell and I don't want to assume), I really don't like how they're referring to an alter as an "it", and I think that it really does over generalize the behaviour of persecutors.

I wanted to include all these points to paint a full picture of what the psychiatric world thinks of persecutors, but I want to focus on the first point.

It clearly indicates that persecutors are just misguided helpers, that because of trauma have maladaptive coping strategies. They are hurting and dealing with it the best they can.

From Jeni Haynes' book "The Girl in the Green Dress" :: the average age of the devil is six years old. This comes from a workshop woth Dr. Colin Ross - a psychiatrist and president of the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation from 1993 to 1994 - where he explains that children who were abused were often told that they were the evil ones so that they couldn't in good conscience report their abusers. After all - those children as evil as them!

I believe that persecutors, especially ones split from childhood/when the abuse was ongoing, have that exact mindset. All they want is to get to safety, but all they know is that they're evil and to not trust anyone. This translates into maladaptive coping mechanisms that can be interpreted as them being evil - which further reinforces their beliefs.

Please love and care for your persecutors. They deserve love and acceptance as much as any other person. I've spoken with far too many systems who lock up their persecutors or beat them into submission and call that "dealing with it". Don't continue the cycle of pain, but show compassion.

☠ The Death of A Mafia Boss ☠

In the morning Mori and Fukuzawa wake up to find Dazai already standing in the kitchen, staring out the window. The futon they lent him is neatly rolled up looking almost as if it was never used.

'An insomniac.' Mori guesses.

"Good morning, Dazai-san."

"So today's the day, eh?" is all he says, "The day you cut the throat of that old madman."

"Yes."

"About time,"

Dazai says no more all during breakfast. Mori lets Akiko sleep late, leaving a note reading:

"If I have not returned when you wake, do not worry. I'll return the boss of the Port Mafia."

Through the hot foggy morning, Mori and Dazai depart.

The Port Mafia quarters seem unusually dark. 

"No bodyguard today, Mori-sensei?" Ranpo asks as they pass his office. "Who's the new boy?"

The questions are rhetorical, the greatest strategist in the world doesn't need to ask questions to get answers. He can see the intent clear as day behind Mori's smiling face.

The office is dark too, even with the gold carpet, and the boss is so sickly he doesn't notice the young Dazai's presence.

"Doctor . . . tell the executives to murder them all . . . the opposing organisations, the military police, everyone who opposes the port Mafia, by sundown." He rasps weakly.

"That's not a rational course of action," Mori says simply, as he prepares the boss's pills, just as he would any other day.

"Kill them all . . . kill them all . . . kill them . . . kill them." his words get quieter until his voice cuts out completely. Then the scalpel is at his throat, drawing a red line so quickly the boss wouldn't have been able to make a sound if he could.

"The boss has passed on, due to illness. He left word saying I will inherit his position as the boss. You're my witness, got it?"

"Yup. So long as it means I get to meet my end."

Mori heads into the main office and cracks the main door. The red-headed guard girl, Ozaki-san turns around.

"Has something happened to the boss?" Mori can hear the hope in her voice.

"I'm afraid so. He has most unfortunately succumbed to his illness."

The question is in her eyes even as her throat goes dry.

"His parting words named me the leader of the organisation. You're relieved of this post, spread the news of his death to the rest of the employees."

She is no idiot. She knows the illness wouldn't have taken him so suddenly, with the way he was going it would have drawn out for many more painful hacking months.

'If anything this was a mercy.'

And she heard the promise in his words, you're relieved of THIS post. She's getting her long-deserved promotion, after all this time.

Back in the office, Dazai looks out the window.

'What a glorious fall that would be.' he giggles at the thought.

"Do you know the name of your ability?" Mori says, having appeared behind him silently.

"Ability?"

"A supernatural skill or skills that you possess. Even if you are ignorant of the workings of your ability itself, surely you must know its name."

"Ability, is that what it's called? Is this why I've always felt out of place, I've always known that I'm not human, like walking through a thick fog of air I'm not made to breathe. As for my "skill", I wouldn't call it an ability, but it's called No Longer Human. The name came to me in the first and only dream I remember. I've never known what it is that it does, but I assume now that it has some effect on other abilities."

"Yes, I'd need to test further, but I believe it's an ability that nullifies other abilities, and it only took effect when you touched me, even through my gloves, so it must be limited by physical contact of any sort, even through clothing. A fascinating concept, and I wish I could study it more. If only you weren't about to end your life." More sighs at the loss of the scientific opportunity.

But he promised. A promise that conflicts with another promise, an oath.

'"Do no harm." Harm is such a subjective thing, really. Is it harm if a patient requests a doctor to end his life? With the state this boy is in, he'll find a way to end himself, regardless of my involvement, and it would be merciful to help end his suffering.'

Ever since he put aside his emotions, Mori has never minded killing if he knows it's what he must do, but the question is still an interesting hypothetical.

Together the two dispose of the body and the evidence. None of the criminals in this organisation will bother to question it, even if they suspect foul play. Nobody liked the old boss. The diseased body is dissected and dissolved in acid which is then burned, along with the bed sheets, the smoke swirling in the mid-morning air, the flames dancing and wriggling in the breeze as if desperate to be free. 

Eventually, they consume all there is consume and the body and bedding have disappeared, and then the flames do too. A pathetic sight as they die, determined against fate to keep crackling on, but of course, the house always wins and the universe has its way so that they burn no more.

By noon all of the Port Mafia have heard the news that they belong to Mori. Most are more than happy. Mori wastes no time.

His first act as boss is done in secret, he appoints Fukuzawa as the co-leader of the Port Mafia, a second head of the organisation working from the shadows. The Silver Wolf.

His first official act is the establishment of the board of executives. A group of three, the mafia's best, only two of their identities known.

Ozaki Kouyou, and an old warrior named Colonel. The third known only as The Clairvoyant, or to those closest to him, Edogawa Ranpo.

'One would think an even number would be best but, a triangle is the strongest shape and with three no decision can be tied.'

His second act, which is a mystery to all but Fukuzawa and Ranpo, is to buy a large piece of property outside of Yokohama. On a map, it appears as if there's nothing there, many people wonder if he plans to build a new base, but Ranpo smiles a grateful smile. Gratitude is a rare look on his face, but it's warranted here, his family home is now safe from any bank or realtor.

Mori is unable to return home this night as he implied would in his note, he's busy with all the preparations that completely rebuilding an organisation takes. So they come to him. 

'So this is the Port Mafia, and it's all ours.' Akiko thinks as she, Elise and Fukuzawa are escorted up to the top floor by the newly minted executive Ozaki.

When Akiko learns of Ozaki's status, a determined sort of look crosses her face. One that scares both Mori and Fukuzawa.

"Let me be your fourth executive." She proposes when the other executives have left the room for their assigned tasks, shocking both older men.

"What?" Mori steps out from behind his desk, placing a concerned hand on her shoulder.

"You heard me. As the daughter of a Port Mafia leader, I'd be in constant danger, but as of now only the old boss was aware that we're family, and he's dead. But if I become an executive no one would dare to harm me."

"Yes, dear, but you'd have to do something. You don't truly want to work for the mafia, do you? If you do you may never be able to practise legitimate medicine."

"I don't care. I can head up the medical division. . . . If this is going to be a family thing, I want to be a part of it." the joke makes everyone, including her, cringe.

Both of the new Port Mafia Leaders can tell this isn't the real reason.

"Akiko, I just want to keep you safe. Please tell us what you're thinking."

She keeps her eyes steady on the window, her reflection growing clearer as night creeps across the view.

"I know I said that I never wanted to use my ability again, but my mother was right. It may or not be my only purpose in life, but it'd be a waste to never use my ability for anything." She turns to face Mori, "You gave me as much power over my life as I could have, but if I never use my ability again then my mother will own me forever, I want to take it back. I want to use my ability for me, to have it belong to me, not anyone else, and this time it will be mine. So please let me . . . please." her voice drops into a whisper.

"An executive position does keep you away from the streets and the war zone they've become . . ." Mori thinks aloud.

"I'll never have to see the streets if I don't want to." Akiko presses.

After a long pause, Mori nods.

'And that makes four. What a thing! An entire criminal organisation led by two 30-somethings and a group the majority of which is composed of teenagers.'

"Thank you." Akiko kneels before Mori and Fukuzawa, her own choice, her own destiny.
