wandering on her own was not recommended; carol’s words of a daughter no longer there ring in her head every time, ‘ running was not enough for her. ’ if trouble found mika - if mika couldn’t bring herself to fight against the things wanting to harm her - it would be game over. but it is something she has to do, isn’t it? toughen up and not be so ... so NICE. knowing this does not stop her from flinching when she hears a sound, whirling on her feet to face the area, palm poised over the hilt of a blade. as much as she hopes her pressed lips are intimidating, the wide bambi eyes that gaze at the other are bound to lose the effect. “ didn’t anyone ever tell you not to sneak up on people? ” // @s9-23

a smile on her face is not unusual by any means. mika is a very outgoing kid, even if she has seen more than any kid should. it was just the kind of world they lived in now - embrace the bad in order to survive. sure, she was still sweet and nice; she hasn’t had to hurt anyone and has only put down a few walkers overall, but she was not clueless. she knew how bad it was. still, she pranced to the other, grin making her eyes sparkle. “i found something cool! do you want to come see it?” /// @rheeblccd

‘ i’ve got you. just stay awake. can you do that for me? ’ ( hi ella will be mika’s big sis yes )
hurt prompts. // @rheeblccd
panic builds in her chest, stealing her of the breath she so desperately needed. small hands frantically grasp at the staining cloth near her stomach, whimper pulled from her throat as her fingertips turn slick and red - and mika’s eyes shift to the other, sleek with tears on the verge of escaping and sparkling with the hot, thick fear she’s burning with. mika tries to catch her breath, but it’s more difficult than she imagined and producing any response doesn’t work - at least, it doesn’t until her gaze shifts and she sees the blooming white flower of a bush. a beat of silence and mika clears the fuzziness that has wrapped around her thoughts with a definite nod. “i - i can do that.” even though she says it, she isn’t too sure, but she’s going to try her best.

her heels dig into the dirt, propelling her forward as she moved away from the shambling figures behind her. she should have been more careful; should have paid more attention to her surroundings and not how she held her arms out to balance herself along the track she was following. it was one of the first things carol had taught her - ‘ you have to be smart; there won’t always be someone there to have your back. ’ what she had done was not smart at all - especially when there really was no one to watch out for her.
the moment the walkers started crawling from odd places, mika knew she had to bolt. the gun strapped to her hip was long empty and the knife she had on the other side wouldn’t do any good considering how many there were of them compared to her. running might not be enough eventually, but for now, it was all she could do.
she doesn’t stop moving until her sides burn and her shoulders heave. the heaviness in her legs makes her fall, relief flooding her body when she has the time to just stop moving. there is no groaning to be heard, no stumbles following her anymore. but she made the same mistake - not paying attention to everything around her.
when she sees him, her eyes widen in surprise and she scrambles for the gun attached to her side. it’s probably pitiful to see; she fumbles too much, her fingers releasing it before she can raise it. her lips press together as she spares a glance at the useless metal, knowing she wouldn’t have been able to shoot him even if she did have bullets for it. instead, she offers an awkward half - smile and greets him with a small, “hello.” /// @evcryhcrd

she spares an uninterested glance at meandering walkers, not bothering to take out the few gathered perhaps too closely. if any more show up, they would be a threat, but for now, she’d ignore them. “they’re pretty stupid, aren’t they?”

as much as mika would like to think she’s TOUGH now, she knows how far from the truth that is. sure, she doesn’t flinch at the lack of light throwing shadows of monsters into her mind anymore and she could definitely kill a walker or two if she needed to, but she was still just a kid even if she didn’t want to actively admit that. a noise startles her and her arms lift the gun comically large for her small frame, directing it to the offending area. troubled, her eyebrows furrow as she looks at the boy. carol would scold her if she saw how mika hesitated, but she didn’t care. “who are you?” // @siblingdependent

ever - so quietly, mika creeps to her sister’s side, rolling on the heels of her worn - down boots. has she always been this AWKWARD around people? even interacting with her sister is not spared from the overwhelming feeling of hesitancy. with a smile nearly uncomfortable in nature, her hands daintily lift the aluminum she had scavenged. “i have peaches. do you want some?” // @micetm
