Okay I know tumblr is treating EPIC as if it cleared their skin and watered their crops and I genuinely really really like it the music is excellent but I gotta say this:
I HATE the way it's presenting odysseus' arc and flaws with polyphemus. Like the problem wasn't that he was too NICE?? Where did that come from? The problem was that odysseus was a cocky lil shit and even though he had managed to get away with the nobody trick he went like "actually you got your ass beat by odysseus lol loser". Hybris-nemesis-catharsis is homer 101 and I'm SO annoyed that an entire generation of teenagers is getting this interpretation of the text. A hero giving in to being the "monster" and losing his kindness is a great arc but there are 700 other heroes you could have done that with - not odysseus.
On the other hand, how catchy is Ruthlessness, amirite?

Hello, you’ve watched marry my dead body?? I wanna know ur thoughts like did u love it or just like it? What did u think of the ending? Anything you would’ve liked to see? Personally me it made me laugh so hard in the beginning but I cried ballz when I finished it😭 but I just wanna know ur thoughts that it, don’t feel obligated to respond!
I have, yes! The first time was actually August last year so almost a year ago now (time sure flies!)
I absolutely LOVE Marry My Dead Body. It manages that incredibly difficult balance of humour and seriousness, while remaining very respectful to the people whose story it's trying to tell. As in, the theme of LGBTQIA+ is front and centre and even if there are jokes — both at the expense of homophobes and gay people — it's not malicious. It plays with stereotypes, sure, but in a loving and fond way.
One of my biggest regrets is that I can't understand all of the references since a lot of them are tied to the Taiwanese gay scene, but the ones I do get? Absolutely fabulous. I lost it at the "Groom 0" thing x'D
As for the ending, it was just what I wanted. I know that there might be some who'd argue that it's too sad, or those who wanted to see more of Mao Bangyu and Wu Minghan together (as in, together together) but, in my opinion, it fits well with the story and it gave me a level of catharsis I haven't gotten from a lot of stories lately. Like, the absolute relief I felt once the movie was over is no fucking joke.
Is it a tiny bit sad? Sure. Would I have loved to see more? Of course. But is it a good ending? One of the absolute best there could be.
And I think a part of that is, again, the catharsis. The movie is lighthearted and playful but also knows when and how to pack a devastating emotional punch. Few things have made me ugly cry like this movie did. Partly due to the whole "my husband" thing and the ambulance thing but, most importantly, the dad.
It's always the dads for me.
To see the grief, regret, and desperation Mao Bangyu's dad is feeling after his son's death broke me. Like, genuinely. Mainly because I know what that's like. I've had to watch my own dad — my big, burly, stoic lumberjack of a dad — cry over one of his dead children. And there are few things I know that are worse than watching my dad cry. Just thinking about it — much less hearing or seeing it — is, quite literally, the only thing I know that is guaranteed to make me cry within seconds.
And so to see that — and to be reminded of my own dad — was so goddamn rough. But in a good way? It was so incredibly moving and the actors did such a wonderful job with that scene. Like, for real, Greg Hsu's acting? With the tears, the way his voice breaks, the way his chin quivers as he's listening to Mr. Mao's story? Fucking kill me already. It's so good.
So, in the end, there's not much I would like to change. I think it's pretty much perfect as it is and the ending they gave us is very satisfying. So there's nothing I would like to add.
... at least not to this life of theirs. But who knows about the next one, amirite? ;)
So yeah. It's a great movie that I love with every fibre of my being. I love the humour, the banter, the plot, the characters, and, of course, the warmth it radiates. Because, in the end, that's really what it's about. It wants to tell a story about love, growth, and finding closure.
And I'm so, so glad that I watched it.

So…
Quinn amirite?
Mild spoilers under the cut. I tried to keep it vague but just go watch the video as soon as you can before reading this. The video’s more worth it than this little comment/high-school-essay-vibes analysis
@goodboyaudios gave a truly fantastic performance as the antagonist, so hats off to him because I honestly didn’t think I could despise Quinn with GB voicing him because of how much I enjoy GB’s own work on his channel but it’s a testament to a great vocal performance that I was literally seething on my couch in absolute fury
So of course 100/10 incredible fantastic jaw-dropping job to make me hate a character with a voice I usually admire so much just through the performance of one character holy hell
The rest was fantastic too. After David and Darlin’s confrontation video way back when, when David said he wasn’t going to tell Darlin’ to back down off the revenge path because he bet it would feel good to hurt Quinn back I genuinely was hoping they’d at least get one good hit in. That’s all I really wanted. The Rise Above Revenge trope is a trope for a reason but I also didn’t want a full-on bloodbath because Darlin’ has healed but the concept of healing but still wanting payback feels realistic (to me)
Instead of “revenge won’t give me back what I lost so there’s no point” it felt like “revenge won’t give me back what I lost so there’s nothing left to save you” and sometimes that brings its own catharsis
Sam getting a few licks in but keeping it mostly reserved felt like a satisfying conclusion to his own emotional involvement in Quinn hurting his progenies because that felt like Sam. Neither Sam nor Darlin’ lost themselves in pursuit of all this and that’s the important thing
Anyway fantastic work all around I feel satisfied with how that all boiled down! 😁
Now if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go find Princess Zelda and save Hyrule from Matt Mercer Ganondorf. See y’all soon!

oh!! i didn’t know anyone else really,, went down there.
i always hear people muttering about how “dangerous” the storm drains are, but if you ask me i think it’s a hell of a lot safer in the sewers than in the alleyways,,, at least it’s quiet (for the most part) and there’s not always hordes of people staring at you.
plus, yeah!!! u get to collect things that people drop in the drains and don’t want anymore :) ghdhtjgtk feel free to say hi if u do see me! ‘m not as freaky as ppl say i am lol,,,,

What would a staycation be without beer, amirite? We in NC are spoiled rotten with so many greats to choose from @barrelculture is one of my top choices because they specialize in wild fermentation/sours. The staff is welcoming and the space is gorgeous with it's epoxy-swirled floors, rich woods, and brushed metals. Have a drink in the tap room, outside, or in the fermentation/aging room and prepare for catharsis on the first pull from your glass. What is your favorite beer and/or brewery in NC? 📸 credit: @dominiqueechard #beerstagram #wildfermentation #sourbeer #staycation #rainydays #coolweatherandbeerblankets #barrelaging #dryhopped / on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/p/BbSrgFDBtwl/
