N7 Month 2024: Day 1 - Poetry

Pairing: Ereba/Charr (aka Blue Rose of Illium) Rating: G Words: 800 These two are forever in my heart 🥲💔 ***

"Your bones are so thin that I can... crush you with my fist?! What is this?!" Ereba raised her eyes to the krogan.

He blinked and made a soft gurgling noise.

"A poem," he said, shifting slightly from foot to foot. For something so big and intimidating, he looked terribly twitchy. "I wrote it myself."

"You wrote a poem about crushing me with your fist?!"

"Yes. But you didn't read the best part."

"Oh, so that wasn't the best part?" she asked.

He made the gurgling sound again, but this time louder.

"Of course."

"Oh Goddess," she looked down at the datapad in her hands again and continued reading.

She first met him just a week ago when he came to her shop looking for a new shotgun.

"Mine doesn't shoot right anymore," he explained, showing Ereba his Claymore with the muzzle bent almost to an angle.

It was impressive, so she asked, "What happened to it?"

"I hit a guy in the head with it," he answered casually. And added, in response to her puzzled look, "He had a thick skull."

So Ereba showed him all the bestsellers, but he grew more and more frustrated with each demonstration.

"No! These are all children's guns!" he barked after the third one. "For weaklings like you! I need something big! With real power!"

It wasn't the first time someone had called her weak, but it still stung. And since she couldn't tell him to fuck off because it was apparently bad for business (she'd done that once and almost gotten fired), Ereba said, "Of course. Give me a moment."

The Eviscerator wasn't her favorite model, but it definitely made idiots like this krogan piss their pants with excitement, and if that was what it took to close the deal, she was ready for it.

"This is an M-22," she said, setting the thing down on the counter and exhaling as if struggling with its weight. "Human-made. Low accuracy, can only handle two rounds per shot, but it's very powerful. I guess that's what you're looking for, right?"

"Finally!" The krogan thumped his fist into his open palm and cracked his knuckles. "Yes! This is the one! Let me try it!"

"Oh no, sir," Ereba smiled sweetly. "I can't let you handle a loaded weapon in this shop. But I can give you a demonstration!"

The thing about Ereba that most of her customers had no idea about was that she wasn't some young maiden hired to attract customers with her pheromones. And oh Goddess, she loved to rub it in their faces.

So she grabbed the Eviscerator from a counter, took the safety off, pointed the muzzle at the target, fired, reloaded, fired again, reloaded, and repeated until the clip was empty.

"And that was your demonstration," she said, resting the shotgun on her shoulder. "Would you like to try handling it now? See if it fits your needs?"

The krogan stared at her.

No. Not stared.

He STARED, eyes round and mouth slightly agape. It even took him some time to make a coherent sound. But then he finally took the gun from her, checked it thoroughly, then paid for it and left.

Ereba congratulated herself on the successful deal and decided to forget about it, but he came back the next day to buy some ammo. And then the next day to make a terrible attempt at small talk. And then the next day with a box of sweets. And now, a week later, there was this.

A poem.

"Your eyes are like the pools of darkness in which I drown because my kind cannot swim." she read. "I want to kiss your lips until they are as dark as the blood of my enemies spilled on the floor and dried..."

"That," the Krogan interrupted. "That was the best part."

"About the blood?" Ereba raised her eyes to his face again.

"No. About the kissing." He did his little foot shuffle again and clasped his hands.

'Cute,' Ereba thought, then stopped herself. What was she thinking?

"I didn't like the part about crushing me. You know I'm a biotic, right? I will crush you first if you try something like that with me, understood?"

"Oh, I know, I know!" he nodded enthusiastically. "I meant I will protect you! If you let me…"

She narrowed her eyes and glared at him. The krogan, Charr was his name, stared at her with the same stunned expression he had when she showed him how to use the Eviscerator. She noticed the slight quivering of his lower lip and the way the thick muscles of his arms flexed beneath the shoulder pads of his armor.

'What a weird, ugly lizard,' Ereba thought, but then said aloud,

"You need a better poem for that."

"My dear here has been with the agency for three months! You know, I was the one that brought them on board," Dazai gloated, a smug smirk on his face and a dramatic hand over his heart.

You were quick to play along, throwing a dramatic hand over your forehead as you leaned back. "Oh, my hero! What would I do without my lovely Dazai?" The sarcastic lilt in your tone didn't go unnoticed by the newest agency member, but he decided not to comment on it.

"Was it like what happened with me? Did you find Dazai drowning?" Apparently a common occurrence, Atsushi had pieced together.

Dazai denied, a smile on his face as he replied with a simple, "Nope!" A few moments of silence passed before the junior realized he wasn't going to elaborate.

Just as he opened his mouth to ask for more information, you decided to take pity on the poor soul and fill him in. "I bailed him out of a holding cell."

No one bat an eye. Atsushi looked around the office, trying to see if maybe someone was holding back laughter, but not a single one of his new coworkers were phased. Did they not hear what you said?

"He got detained for public disturbance in the middle of a case. I told Dazai he'd have to find a way to get out on his own, and he shows back up not even thirty minutes later with them in tow," Kunikida explains, frustration evident in his voice. "I was trying to teach him a lesson."

"I was in the area," you shrug.

"Yeah, being detained as well..."

"I was being released from detainment, actually!" You correct Kunikida, a proud grin on your face. "And Dazai said I should follow him, so I did."

Atsushi laughed awkwardly. He knew you seemed similar to Dazai in your hedonistic pursuits, but this was baffling. "And the president hired you?"

"I had an entrance exam, but pretty much! I had just been fired from my old job the day before so Dazai helped me get set up here. And before you ask: I was fired because I told the boss' kid I wouldn't date him. He got all upset and told daddy to can me," you huff in frustration, still annoyed at your wrongful termination.

Kunikida rolled his eyes. "Don't act like some martyr; You also deserved to be fired. You just messed around on the job like you do here. You barely got any work done."

"You want me so badly it makes you look stupid—"

"I told them to sue and say it's discrimination because they're aro," Dazai cut you off, a pout on his lips like he's annoyed you didn't take his advice.

"What's... arrow?" Atsushi cocked his head to the side. He was unaware of the terminology, having never come across it in this context during his studies at the orphanage.

"Oh, it's shorthand for aromantic. It just means, like, experiencing little to no romantic attraction to anyone. It varies, of course..." You try to explain simply.

Atsushi nods, understanding the basic idea. "But it'd be wrong to lie about your sexuality, right?"

"I'm aro, actually," you shrug. Everyone at the agency is well aware, so Atsushi will likely find out eventually.

"Oh!" The younger employee's cheeks turn pink, feeling a little sheepish for assuming. A moment passes as Atsushi thinks before furrowing his eyebrows in confusion. "I thought you and Dazai..?"

"We're both aromantic," Dazai rests his chin on his hand, elbow on his desk and an amused smirk pulling at his lips. "I've dated a lot in the past, but I realized it's just not for me."

"I've never been in a relationship and never want to," you add in yourself. "Aromanticism is... much more complex than how I explained it. Dazai feels romantic attraction, but doesn't— Is it fine if I tell him this?" You suddenly ask, realizing it really isn't your place to speak on his experience, even as his best friend.

"Oh, I don't care. Saves me the trouble," Dazai waves his hand dismissively. "But yeah, I feel romantic attraction, but lose it when it's reciprocated."

Atsushi nods slowly, beginning to understand. "Oh, okay. So you two are just close friends, then."

"Are we just not going to ask what you were doing in a holding cell when Dazai got thrown in?" Tanizaki asks from his desk.

"I just got too silly, you know how it is."

Taeha really is a bit of an asshole isn't he?

He has no respect for Jiwoon, going so far as to enter his home without permission and to kiss him without explaining himself first when Jiwoon had explicitly told him he didn't want to continue their relationship.

I knew Jiwoon's resolve wouldn't last. He went back to Taeha immediately after finding out he broke off his engagement. It doesn't bother him at all that Taeha wanted to get married and have kids, and that he was willing to cheat and lie for who knows how long if Sohee hadn't called Jiwoon out. I'm worried for Jiwoon. He's telling Taeha what choosing him means, the societal pressures he will face, and Taeha says that having Jiwoon is enough, but seeing that he didn't deal with that pressure well the first time, I don't feel confident that Taeha understands what the consequences will truly be. I hope they talk about this issue a lot more off screen.

I hate that it's Jiwoon who is apologizing and kneeling. Taeha should be the one facing Sohee's wrath, groveling, and apologizing. That being said, I am glad Suk made Liuk do it because his acting was amazing and broke my heart.

That he takes on all of Sohee's blame and anger, and then pleads for Sohee to let Taeha off is too much. 😭 This whole scene was a knife to my heart. I can't live without him. Oh Jiwoon. 💔 Couldn't he have picked a better guy to love? He deserves better.

Oof. Sohee's words cutting deep. How else was she supposed to react though? I've seen comments saying she's psycho, but I actually think she's pretty normal about the whole thing. She's angry and lashing out. Who wouldn't be angry with being cheated on and dumped? Is she supposed to be nice and understanding about her fiancé breaking off their engagement? Should she be happy for Taeha and Jiwoon?

Jiwooooon. 💔 I want to give him a hug and then download tinder on his phone and find him a better guy. 😅

Arghhhh. Jiwoon protecting Taeha from knowing about how much he hurt Sohee. Why?? Taeha needs to know. I swear, the person that's going to be destroyed in this relationship is Jiwoon.

They've both said that they only need each other and are together so it's a happy ending right? Their final hug didn't make me melt though, it gave me more of an ominous feeling. It's romantic to say you only need each other, but reality is much harsher. I think it may be true for Jiwoon, but I have my doubts about Mr. I do what I want. I guess it's a happy ending for now.

I thought Suk would need a part 2 to finish Bad Guy, but I feel like this story is complete. Not completely satisfying, but complete. I wanted to see Taeha struggling with his feelings and then deciding to break up with Sohee. Also for Jiwoon and Taeha to talk about why Taeha wanted to get married in the first place, what's changed, and why Taeha will be able to make it work this time around. I think that would have provided the closure I'm looking for, and made Taeha a more likeable and sympathetic character. It would also give the audience confidence that these two can make it. As it is now, I think a lot of us want Jiwoon to find himself someone better.

If I sound like I'm hating on Bad Guy, I'm not. This was still a good series. I was engaged and excited for each new ep. I don't love Taeha because he's extremely selfish, but I found his character interesting. I love Jiwoon, my tragic lovefool. I enjoyed the exploration of a messy, imperfect, and helpless love. The acting was great too. I hope Suk hires Liuk again, he is the best actor (in a bl) Suk has hired so far. Though perhaps Suk can arrange to have Riu or Hoolim teach him how to kiss. There's room for improvement.

Headcanon dump when

you’ve made a grave mistake. media analysis is one of my special interests and i’m also a lifelong writer so this will definitely start to get incomprehensibly ranty (warning i literally gave like an essay length explanation of how i would rewrite heinz’ story in mml s2 and this whole thing devolves away from the question very quickly)

1. my funniest one and most out of pocket one i like to bring up is that i think doofenshmirtz is such a whore imo. an absolute harlot. i think he gets around. not like people are attracted to him or find him charming (he is NOT) but he will have been with everyone in the room, like, at least once. particularly the love muffin scientists, especially rodney, and he and monogram DEFINITELY were together at some point

2. on the monogram thing, i figured monogram “experimented” at one point before doof was an owca threat and dated heinz for a short period of time and that’s why they call eachother by their first names and are so familiar with eachother (heinz probably turned him from bi-curious to homophobic very quickly). i just think the idea is hilarious

3. obviously, heinz is transgender and so is perry, that’s a given. and as mentioned one of my previous posts, 2d doof is a karen archetype and your conservative aunt at thanksgiving dinner (you decide if he’s actually cishet or if he’s like blaire white)

4. less of a headcanon and more of an “i wish this happened”, i think monty and vanessa should have stayed together and i don’t like ferbnessa much but that’s also a pretty popular take. i like the perryshmirtz parallels what can i say. also this pairs very funnily with my first and second headcanons

5. buford and bajeet are qpps (they don’t know what that is but they are). ginger is supportive

6. another obvious one, i think pretty much everyone is neurodivergent because of course they are. to get specific on the ones i feel strongest about, heinz has audhd, perry is low-empathy autistic, the rest of the flynn-fletcher family besides linda are autistic, milo is autistic, cavendish is autistic, and dakota has adhd. thank you for listening to my ted talk. i’m actually.. 👉👈 writing my first ever fic, focused around how heinz and perry communicate with their contrasting neurodivergence that will be up on this account once i finally post it to ao3, and that goes a lot more in depth

7. this is actually something i feel differs a bit from most headcanons i see. my take is that norm initially (throughout most of pnf) does not see perry as a father figure at all and only tries to get that from doof, and is also jealous that perry gets all his attention, so kind of actively dislikes him. he also hasn’t made the connection that anyone other than heinz could fulfill that role for him, because in his robot brain, he will take father in the most literal definition, like they have to be directly responsible for creating you. and not something more complex and nuanced like it actually is because he’s a robot and he’s not gonna get that right away. but i feel like over time, he’d begin to realize those nuances, and start to accept perry as family, and get much more out of him as a father figure than heinz. especially since (unless it’s a human au) they would have similarly complicated relationships with not being human but also being fully sentient.

that was a long one and i still don’t feel like i covered all of it but maybe i’ll do a fic about that one too one day 💔

8. i don’t know, as i am writing this sentence, how explosive i will get with my details on this one, but my favorite proposed future for heinz is both a mix between doof 101 and act your age. so an open secret between my friends and i is that although i love both seasons of milo murphy’s law, i really. really. dislike the whole professor time thing. don’t get me wrong, i would keep the whole reveal and not change anything about the season 1 finale.

but, if i, alister r. zamir, were personally hired by dan povenmire and swampy marsh to write the continuation of said finale, i would make everyone including the audience think he’s professor time but have that be a RED HERRING and not ACTUALLY have him be professor time because i think that’s REALLY BAD!! (maybe make it sara or cavendish or even phineas and ferb since they already did that)

the reason why i, the new writer of milo murphy’s law season 2, think this sucks, is because heinz has spent his whole life trying to live up to the expectations of others, and in the shadow of others and is always striving for unreachable goals to substantiate his self worth. it’s like his whole character, it’s his whole thing, this is his canon ass story, so to just throoooww in that whole professor time thing VALIDATES this behavior and encourages him to keep holding himself at an unnecessarily high standard, PLUS the fate of the world is kind of in his hands now, so that’s FINE. AND IM FINE ABOUT IT AND IM NOT MAD. YOU ARE.

so coming back to doof 101 and act your age, particularly act your age (which i also don’t like as an episode but that’s another story), as somebody who suffers from The Serious Illnesses of the Mental Variety, heinz being able to move on, adjust his expectations, and not be doing great or amazing or rule the tristate whatever and just be fine with doing alright, is super meaningful and relatable to me

so i think they should have just stuck with that. i like the phineas and ferb characters included in mml and like i said id keep a lot of it, but i’d save all the heinz arc stuff for phineas and ferb exclusively cause i love the perry funding professor time thing and that whole deal is cute but also i hate it. because it’s so rushed. and everything with his development feels so out of place. and wrong. and it makes me throw a tantrum.

not to mention, but i WILL, how heinz is completely justified about being upset and falling into depression because of this whole ordeal, and they sorttt of treat it like he’s justified? but they also make him unbearably annoying and we as an audience are justifiably unsympathetic to that and it seems like you want me to feel bad for him sometimes but also hate his guts, which could have been an interesting conundrum ig, but even though i love milo murphy’s law, it’s character writing is farrr from strong enough to get any kind of interesting story or arc out of that

so like, in conclusion, dwampy, hire me, i will work for pennies

alright that’s not all of them but i’ve been writing for 20 minutes and my fingers hurt thank you very much for asking me i needed to get these out of my system

ough...first time aaron stays the night in whatever hotel they meet up at...he's used to the pump n dump and just like, ubering home. maybe roman would call him a ride, if he's feeling generous. but one night its just so late, and theyre both just tipsy enough to not want to fuss about cars and shit, so aaron stays over. they share the bed and keep a little valley in between them. roman's not a cuddler and he's made that clear. but that hotel ac is COLD. and maybe he can stand to warm his feet up on aaron, maybe he should just scoot back a little for maximum body heat theft. aaron allows this, of course, falling asleep butt to butt with their legs tangled together.

aaron is a beautiful BPD princess ... and roman is a traumatized abandonment + daddy issues princess... the weird jealousy despite having what starts as a no strings attached thing is absolutely bonkers. roman hates that hes not the only person aaron has this arrangement with but literally cant do anything about it. aaron is much more jealous during their relationship but in the beginning as he's starting to catch feelings he still gets weird about stuff. (once aaron lays eyes on stewy and sees him put a hand on romans shoulder casually in conversation one time its literally world war three in his mind. getting his gothgirl bff to cast evil spells)

as far as plain angst...i mean its roman there's so much angst and denial and trauma to work thru. and aaron as well. i can hardly go in to detail or this would get even longer.

this is difficult bc i think roman is horrible at figuring out his own feelings. i think he realizes hes in love with aaron like 4 times before he lets it stick. just like catching a glimpse of aaron laughing with a group of people across the room..caught off guard by aaron's stupid sexy voice and the way the light makes his brown eyes look like that and the way people can't help but stare at him because he's so magnetic...and then hes like. fuck. what. no. what was that. i was possessed. but eventually he can't ignore it.

theres a rlly great prose bit i wrote w the help of a friend abt roman having a shitty family thing happen at some kind of family/waystar event. he finds aaron and the two of them sneak out of the thing. aaron taking roman for a walk around the city. they stop at the restaurant aaron works at and he sneaks in the back to make them fancy pesto grilled cheese sandwiches and they sit by the water and talk about life and /feelings/, in the limited way that roman can talk about that stuff. he ends up opening up more than he thought he would. and i think he realizes then that he Really loves aaron and doesnt want to just be fuckbuddies or whatever they are
