Any headcanons for Kuvira?

🪴She values Suyin's opinion too much, she wants her to see it and acknowledge it above anyone else.

🪴Expanding on an earlier point, Kuvira has trouble identifying the types of love she feels, after her apparent failure with Baatar Jr. and the deterioration in her relationship with Suyin and the others, she has become concerned about not being able to love like "normal people."

🪴She clings heavily to "patriotic" ideals as a way of reaffirming that she has a place in the world, that she is "nobody's daughter" or "a helpless creature."

🪴One of the fights she remembers most with Suyin was when the eldest compared her to Lin, Kuvira did not know her but had heard about how problematic and mean she had been to Suyin so she felt deeply offended.

🪴Apart from Suyin, Kuvira has never really felt very connected to others, she feels that this affection they give her is conditioned by her usefulness in Zaofu.

🪴She is very good at retaining information, no matter if you mentioned something in passing or if she only skimmed the pamphlet, she will remember enough to use it to her advantage.

🪴Kuvira was planning on getting married in a more elegant variation of her uniform, she really dislikes dresses, she feels that they do not properly highlight her body.

🪴She has a certain esteem for Bolin but believes that he is not made to be Opal's boyfriend, after all a Beifong must aspire to the highest of the highest, not "settle" for a docile boy.

🪴The first time she slept with Baatar Jr. she broke his neck. The memory still haunts her, although for him it was ✨a relatable experience✨

🪴Suyin offered to officially adopt her when she was younger but Kuvira insisted on "earning the name" first.

🪴The first time she kissed someone was Opal, they were both kids and forced to spend time together so Kuvira stepped into her role as the "shining knight" who saves the day. They did it so often that it's embarrassing for both of them now.

🪴Already separated from Baatar Jr. he made the comment that she reminded him of his aunt and Kuvira couldn't hide her displeasure, but she can't argue with her because Opal was quick to add a "Don't offend Aunt Lin, she knows how to be loyal." She screwed Kuvira badly.

🪴She is very fond of Korra, she doesn't understand her at all but she is deeply grateful for all the effort the young Avatar puts into helping her.

Starting off with Mako,he's the kind of guy that doesn't take well to someone talking to you in some kind of mean way in front of him, especially if you're more a more naive person.

Even if you take care of yourself, he's still there making sure you're away from harms way.

If you ever get hurt or kidnapped,it's over for whoever did it, it's not like he's usually a calm person,but take away his favorite person and you got yourself a big problem to deal with.

Even when you're not exactly in danger, he's there. It's sweet really,but it can also be annoying when overdone.

You like being protected by him,but not all the time, he didn't like it when you talked to Korra, claiming since she's the avatar she would draw unnecessary attention over you and put you in complicated situations.

Of course you explain to him that you're a big girl and that you can watch over yourself,but he just can't understand it. {Sigh}.

Korra? Well she had her ups and downs. But she learned ,ok? Once you two got together ,this feeling that's she allways had grew stronger,her urge to protect you.

Of course she would blame it on the fact that she's the avatar,but really it was her being protective of you.

Even before dating her ,you knew this would draw a lot of attention to yourself, and potential enemies of the avatar would want to harm you. But that didn't stop you,after all you're free to love whoever you want even if it endangers you.

When Korra faced Amon she used to be Terrified something bad would happen to you, even her dreams would be hunted by dark images. She would see Amon preparing to take away your bending,but each time she would wake up before anything happened,in cold sweat,with you by her side.

If you're a light sleeper,you would assure her nothing happened to you,and that you're okay.

Even after she defeated Amon, more villains appeared,making Korra constantly worry about you. But one thing is sure, that she would always be there to protect you,and in case anything happens,to save you.

This boy is the most carefree of them all. He doesn't really have to worry that you would be kidnapped or hurt most of the time,but if it ever happens, either someone hurt you or something went wrong in the mission?

He's full boyfriend mode on. He wouldn't be like Korra or Mako, first thing he would do is bring you to safety, revenge not being his thing.

If you're okay ,that's what matters to him. But now if you're especially targeted by someone? He's not as chill as before. Especially since he recently learned how to lava bend, which makes him a pretty strong bender, definitely not the kind you would want to piss off by chasing around his girlfriend,nu uh.

Bolin knew it was a mistake to introduce you to his boss, Varrick.

That man would make flirty jokes with you,which always made Bolin roll his eyes and mock him quietly.

So what if he's smart and rich? You wouldn't like a prick like him.

Whenever Varrick got too close, your boy would be there to put distance between the two of you. It's not that he's jealous,but he knows how his boss is.

Yeah no. I doubt anyone would even try to threaten you while she's around.

After all the power and respect she gained, expect people to fear you just because you're with her. So mostly Kuvira doesn't have to worry that anyone is gonna try anything.

Korra talking about her love life: Okay so I arrived at Republic City and befriended Mako and Bolin who were brothers. I liked Mako but Mako was dating this girl Asami and I ended up going out once with Bolin who really liked me but then Mako and I kissed in front of him and he got really upset but we all made up later and I let the whole thing with Mako. Then I ended up really getting along with Asami even though I started off jealous of her? She fought her dad for me and all. Anyway eventually Mako and Asami broke up and he and I got together. But after a while we kept arguing and arguing until one day he broke up with me. Then he kissed Asami while I was gone but I came back with memory loss and didn't even remember we'd broken up and he pretended we were still together until the end when I remember and we both broke up for good now because we didn't work. We remained good friends though. Anyway Asami and I became even closer friends and she was there for me at my lowest and at some point I started realizing I had feelings for her?? And I ended up dating her three years later.

Kyoshi: That's insane. In my case I was discovered late as the Avatar and I actually ended up working as servant for a while for the guy who was misidentified as the Avatar, a boy named Yun. I had a crush on him for a while and it was reciprocal but neither of us acted on it and the crush ended up fading —though I still cared deeply about him, of course—, partly because I subsconciously started crushing on Rangi, Yun's Fire Nation bodyguard? I didn't realize at first. But after I found out I was the real Avatar and this guy had my adoptive father killed —and I thought Yun was dead too—, I ran away from home and Rangi came with me and I ended up realizing I had feelings for her while we were running from the cops? Anyway we ended up getting together. I need to add that my adoptive father realized I was the Avatar because I randomly sang a poem that Kuruk had written for Hei-Ran, Rangi's mom. So I ended up dating the daughter of my past life's first love. Also I ended up having to kill my first crush after he almost killed her.

She can feel the other person's heart beat pick up as they continue to hit on you

She's annoyed, but doesn't know how to express it healthily

She might use her bending to push that person away from you

She'll give them a show, so that they can have something to talk about

The thought makes her smirk

She'll send little earthquakes to the person

Treated thems like a ball and and bounces them with the earth, without making it obvious

She'll forget about it when you come over to her and talk to her

She's the least likely to get jealous because she's also a player

Though she does get upset when seeing that you're uncomfortable

She'll glare and excuse herself from whatever conversation she's in, even if it's with Azula, and walks over to where you are

Her tactic is to come in hot, just like the person flirting with you

She'll aggressively flirt with them to try and make them uncomfortable

But if that doesn't work, she'll be very direct and say that you're together and that they need to stop

They'll think it's a joke but Ty Lee is dead serious

She's willing to fight them if it comes to that

Korra gets extremely jealous

– Also, the fact that they call each other the "Krew" was so cute to you, you wanted in.

– and so there you saw Korra and Asami dressed in their best party wear, holding glasses of colored clear liquid and giggling with each other.

– At first, your stomach fizzed with butterflies but you assumed that was your jitters

– you didn't think the butterflies was because the two of them looked good enough to make your knees shake or your face burn. no, not at all!

– why would it anyways? You couldn't be attracted to a couple. that's weird. Like licking a flagpole and drinking a smoothie made of grass and boiled egg yolks. That's weird.

– and you weren't weird. (or at least not that weird).

– anyways, as the party went on, you got to know the two more.

– you got to know that Korra's a bit goofy and playful, that she isn't always the stubborn and hotheaded Avatar everyone knows her to be and you also figured out that Asami made her very shy, very easily.

– you didn't know why. you had nothing against the two and PDA, but seeing them flirt with each other gave you a certain pang in your chest.

– after the party's events, you found yourself getting closer and closer to the "Krew".

– you weren't close enough to consider yourself a part of Team Avatar but enough to be considered Team Avatar's friend.

– Korra and Asami have this type of humor that's unique to them. They feed off of each other and often make snarky remarks about inside jokes or shared experiences. Being a part of that was an accomplishment in its own.

– something would happen when you guys were out and about and you would share the same look.

– the only times the jokes got "bad" was when someone made the other laugh a bit louder than usual.

– like one time Korra made Asami laugh so loud and hard that she cried with a red face.

– the feeling that stirred in your stomach wasn't pretty. it was like whatever you had for lunch curdled and violently punched you in the gut over and over and over again.

– you would seethe every once and a while. Why was Korra making her girlfriend laugh upsetting you? It shouldn't matter what she does. She's her girlfriend and has the right to make her laugh. It would probably be more concerning if Asami laughed harder at your jokes.

– Right?

– It would be great to make Asami laugh like that though. Her sparkling green eyes come to a close as her eyes squint. Her hand would politely cover her lips with a hooked finger, further pushing the elegant and proper look she's made of herself. And even though her blush does this for her already, her cheeks would be redder from how hard you made her laugh.

– Isn't that normal for a homie to want? It was normal to want to share that experience with Korra; making Asami laugh. These were all normal things. Right?

– It had to be. It's what you thought about at night. Making Asami laugh, making Korra shy, holding their hands and nuzzling your nose against their cheeks. That's all very normal things to think about when it comes to your friends.

– you never thought that way about Mako or Bolin of course. They were like siblings to you so, they were sibling pretty. Not the weak-in-the-knees-heart-racing-platonic-pretty Korra and Asami were.

– Well, Bolin didn't think so. Deny all you want, say what you want, but he saw the way you looked at them.

– He saw how your eyes light up when they come over to talk to you or how cutely small and shy you'd get when they hug you at the same time. He saw how you would point them out in everything you see, even if you're not with them.

– Bolin knows you and apparently, he knows you better than you know yourself.

– He knew you so well that he could tell when you were jealous and he could tell when you were attracted.

– when you were jealous: when their PDA gets too much, when they walk away together, when they make inside jokes, when they call each other "babe", and when they prefer each other over anyone else in the Krew.

– when you were attracted: when their attention is on you, when they talk to you one-on-one (mano-y-mano as Bolin referred), when they would hug you or take you out as a trio, when they compliment you, when they spring into action or act serious, and so much more that Bolin could write a whole book about your attraction towards the pair.

– Honestly, Bolin understood the attraction. He had a crush on Korra once. Mako too! In fact, everyone in the Krew had a crush on her so the fact that you had a crush on her (and her girlfriend) just met you're officially a part of their friend group now. Yay!

– now, Bolin never told you that he's aware of the crush you had on the pair but he would hint at it with suspicious winks, wiggles of his brows, and jokes that confused everyone else but you.

– "Yeah, red and blue sure are attractive colors, huh?" then he'd nudge you and you would freeze with a nervous smile.

– Mako, Asami, and Korra would have no clue what Bolin meant. Especially since they were talking about imprisoning war criminals when Bolin blurted. But hey, randomness is what Bolin is known for.

– A couple of weeks after that incident, you finally came to terms with yourself. You had to, the jealousy was getting too much that the girls were picking up on it.

"Whoa, you good?" Korra chuckled, noticing your glare after she kissed Asami's cheek. "You're uh, looking angrier than Mako on a good day." On a good day, you would tease her back but the feelings were too much.

The thoughts of holding them, kissing them (and not just on the cheek), and spending time with them was overwhelming and taking over every fiber of your being.

You couldn't watch them interact with each other without a firey burning in your chest and the clench of your fists. Also, you're pretty sure you've shaved a couple of centimeters off your teeth from all the teeth grinding you've been doing.

The girls have been giving you curious looks when you would glare in their direction. They'd awkwardly look at each other and then get away from your gaze to avoid confrontation.

Korra and Asami never assumed you were the type to judge their love, they didn't get that vibe from you, so it was a nerving surprise you got angry whenever they showcased public displays of affection.

"Yeah." You eased your shoulders from your ears. "I'm fine. Sorry. Just stressed."

"You must be chronically stressed then," Asami spoke as she slung an arm around Korra's shoulders. Your lips tensed at the sight. "Because you're always making faces or scowling nowadays."

"Yeah, you're doing it now actually," pointed Korra. You eased your lips again. Damn, it's like second nature to tense up or scowl whenever you see them interact. That wasn't healthy. At all.

These are your friends. By the expressions on their faces, you can see they're getting uncomfortable holding each other around you. Asami slowly moved her arm away from Korra with a frown and they tried not to show it, but they held each other's hands behind their backs.

Your friends had to hide their true selves from you because you're too afraid to admit your feelings.

Is this what you want? For them to be afraid and think you're someone or something you're not? Of course not. It was time to face the music. You have a crush on Korra and Asami.

However, the both of you weren’t mated yet. Neteyam was a traditional man and that made you love him even more. “Just a few more days, yawne.” He whispered in your ear before pressing a kiss to your forehead in front of anyone to see.

At first, it was weird to see the two of you together because of your hard exterior. Your father Tsu’tey had raised you to be a strong warrior who’d let no one see your emotions and you did just that. But Neteyam was the exception to this rule. When y’all were alone you’d always shower him with kisses, you even prepared all the meals, making him lunch then wrapping them in razor palm leaves to insure the freshness and the thick leaves should keep the food safe for your mate to eat whenever he pleases. You even loved helping him braid and wash his hair. You couldn’t help wash his body despite you begging some nights, because like I mentioned earlier Neteyam is a traditional man. He wanted to wait until the next eclipse and you were more than happy to wait for him. Your only goal in life was to make your future mate happy, that’s why it had your blood fuming in rage as you listened to the group of Na’vi who attended your age group in the training sessions to speak down about your feelings for the future Omaticaya Olo’eyktan.

Your lips curled downward, and your upper lip lifted, exposing your sharp fangs. A soft growl pushed its way from your throat as the group of three, a man and two women, spoke harsh words.

“Yeah it’s like she has this cold shoulder to everyone.”Azusa was Katara's friend, and the two girls were like sisters. Although she had softer features, and soft curls to match, you couldn't deny that she was a smart warrior. Her mind made up for her lack of physical strength, sometimes.

“She just thinks she’s better than everyone just because she’s a good warrior.” Bolin. The name left a bad taste in your mouth. He was always jealous that you were smarter and stronger than him. He especially hated that you denied him courtship. How could you, as a strong Omaticaya woman, ever mate with someone who was less than you?

“I bet Neteyam is scared of her. That’s why they’re not mated yet.”

“He wouldn’t be scared of me. Um, the things I’d do-“

“Katara.” You listened to Azusa’s playful scream as you crouched low, stalking your prey, making no noise to be heard.

“What who wouldn’t want the Neteyam te Suli Tsyeyk’itan to keep them nice and plump full of his babies. I’d proudly walk around with his seed running down my legs. ”

That was the final straw, and it only got better that you were in the forest, away from the village, where even if someone were to scream and plead for their life, no one would hear them. It was as if Eywa had intended it to be that way.

As rage filled your entire soul, your heart started to beat like a war drum. Your blood pulsed, feeling it in your veins. They were full and ready, as the adrenaline hit you like a stampede of hammerheads pushing through narrow paths in the Pandora forest.

You were smart with your attack. Bolin was your first prey, because you knew to always take out the bigger “threat” first. Hiding in the leaves until the last second, you grabbed your knife and slashed the backs of his legs right in the creases of his knees, sending him onto his kneecaps with his screams echoing in the air. But not for too long, as you grabbed the back of his head to slam his nose right into your knee. Not only did you do it once, but you did it again and again, until you knew he was unconscious. You couldn’t feel pain, only the most intense anger.

“Bolin.” Azusa screamed in terror while Katara grabbed her knife ready to defend herself. Both of the girls eyes widen. When you're scared, your eyes might widen and your pupils will dilate. This is because your body is preparing for a potential threat and needs to take in as much information as possible. Seeing the animalistic act that you just did to their friend, it had the Na’vi women beyond terrified.

Despite originally planning to save Katara for last, you acted quickly and went for her since she had the knife. Perhaps you still had a chance to achieve your goal because fortunately, you had trained with her, so you knew her moves and her faults. Katara tends to step with her swing, which makes her stances unbalanced and easy to overcome. When the shorter woman lunged forward, you blocked her hit by swinging your arm clockwise while holding a tight fist. Azusa tried to tackle you meanwhile you quickly stomped down on Katara's shin with your heel, distracting her, and spun around to grab Azusa's swinging arms, manipulating them behind her back. “Drop the knife or I broke her neck.”

With your left hand, you held onto her wrists and used the other hand to grab Azusa’s knife that she always kept by her thigh. You pressed the blade against her throat, causing the woman to sob in fear. A sinister grin appeared on your heart-shaped lips, which Neteyam loved so much. “No, no, no, please,” she pleaded.

“She’s my sister.” You pressed the knife rather allowing blood to drip between her small nonexisting breasts. No good for mothering babies, you thought then Katara words from early flashed in your brain.

“-who wouldn’t want Neteyam te Suli Tsyeyk’itan keep them nice and plump full of his babies-“ “the things I’d do-“

As you let out a loud hiss that sounded more like a roar, mimicking that of a Palulukan, which means 'dry mouth bringer of fear,' Katara's throat tightened up to the point where she was gasping for air. She begged you, “Y/n, please.” You cut Azusa higher on her neck, causing both girls to cry out in fear and pain.

“Drop.” You spat out. “The fucking knife.” The English word felt like Azusa’s knife had pierced both of their ears as well.

“Okay.” Katara cried out throwing the knife where Bolin laid face down still unconscious. “Okay, Y/N. I-I,” the Nav’i raised her hands in a surrender as she strubbled into the base of a huge tree. “Why are you doing this?” Seeing her finally find some composure to form her words you hissed another time at her stupidity. Slashing down, you cut Azusa’s blue skin for the third time accidentally making it look like claw-work from a predator.

“Neteyam is mine.” Your voice was carried strong but in a low-pitched, guttural sound; almost in an ominous tone. Your voice sounded like it came from the depths of the demon plant called earth, with a slow and deliberate pace that sends shivers down Azusa and Katara spines. “And when I’m done with you,” you could feel Azusa shaking terribly as you spoke. “You’ll never be able to look at him again.” The menacing tone in your voice was powerful. Then suddenly as Azusa started to shake she went limp in your arms.

“Azusa.” Katara pleaded as the girl’s turquoise eyes rolled in the back of her head.

You pulled on her loose curls to tilt her head back to see in fact that she’d passed out. “Pathetic.” You spit in the girl’s face then pushed her to the ground next to Bolin. “You girls.” You tainted aiming the weapon at the scared written expression. “You whores think you are privileged enough for Neteyam’s semen?” You slashed at Katara’s face, making the girl cry harder, causing her tears to mix with her blood stained cheek. You grabbed her throat in your hands enjoying the way it felt to have her life in her hands. “Eywa blessed us.” You cut her again this time on her jaw line damaging her one good feature. “I’m his capable mate-”

“Y/n.” Hearing that heavenly voice, you turned in the direction while maintaining your grip on Katara’s neck.

“Teyam?” Seeing the worry on his face caused you to halt your movements but your grip didn’t waiver. You needed her to know that, that godly man was yours.

He held his bow tightly and stood in a stiff posture, clearly in protective mode. “Ma’Y/n, when I didn't see you at our spot, I went tracking,' he said. He then caressed your cheek with his free hand, not paying attention to Katara. Hearing that he tracked you down and was waiting for you made your stomach feel warm. “And seeing this,” his amber eyes fired with rage as he looked at the bodies on the floor. He then turned to Katara, who was still pinned to the tree, and asked, “Yawne, did they hurt you?”

Of course, your sweet Neteyam knew that something had to have happened for you to lose your composure like this. It wasn't like you to act out; you kept to yourself and didn't allow anyone to read you. That's why so many people thought that you were cold, and to be honest, you didn't care. You only cared about what Neteyam thought of you. “Neteyam-“ you changed your venomous tone to a sweet one, but it was cut off by Katara sobbing.

“Are you kidding me? She’s an animal.” This cause you both to let out a hiss, Neteyam’s from defending you while yours was from anger. You stabbed her through the hand, sinking the knife that was made from an ikrans sharpened claw into the wood of the tree, despite her struggles and screams.

“Neteyam.” You snarled looking at your prey with harden eyes. “Tell her.” The Omaticaya Prince lovingly gripped the side of your head letting his thumb stroke your temple. And before he could ask you to explain you continued, “tell her what you’re going to do to me in 13 days on the night of the eclipse. Tell her.”

As the realization hit him, heat flushed his face, and he understood why you were acting like this and why this whole situation came to be. You were staking your claim on him. Neteyam wasn't dumb; he knew Katara had 'feelings' for him, but they never mattered to him. His amber eyes had always been on you ever since you won against him in a fight when you were both 12. Since then, he trained to be your worthy mate, someone you would trust to grow with and be a strong father for your future kids. He remembers praying to Eywa every night for her, to see that you would be the perfect match for him. You were a leader in his eyes, a strong one.

So it's fair to say Neteyam has always loved you, but it was the way you were claiming him, defending him from other possible threats. In a strange way, he felt so loved, so seen that not even his family or friends could make him feel that way. You loved him so much that you were willing to hurt for him. You were willing to kill for him. A feeling washed over him like none other, that could only be described as one thing: lust. It was a primal feeling. He let out a low growl that was like music to your ears. “Y/n, you know that if I wasn't a traditional man, I'd take you right here.” You couldn't help but moan as his words drowned out Katara's cries. Neteyam never looked at the pathetic woman once; all he could see was you. “I'd bend you over, using that pathetic excuse as an Omaticaya clan member as a step stool. I'd keep you stuffed to the brim,' his lips were barely touching yours now. 'Letting anyone see, so they know who you belong to.' Your lips parted as you began to grow absolutely drenched in your loincloth, making the material stick to you.

“But," you let out a whimper as he pulled you away from the girl, causing your hands to rest on his chest. "My respect and love for you outgrows my deepest desires, Ma'Y/n." Neteyam traced the necklace you wore, the first thing he gave you as a courting gift, and even though he's given you many wonderful treasures, this one is your favorite. To you, it signifies your love for each other. "So, in 13 days, we're going to celebrate our love in front of the clan by eating all sorts of amazing foods, and as tradition, I'm going to kill you the most wonderful beast and serve it to you along with the most delicious fruit that I'll gather. And maybe we'll dance," Neteyam said with his infamous toothy smile. You kissed his hands that cupped your face. "Then I'll take you to our spot," a waterhole that overlooked the Tree of Souls. "We will make Tsaheylu then I'll ravish you, darling." You groaned out loud, going to kiss him, but he pulled away, still keeping you in his arms as he pushed Katara back against the tree, noticing that she was trying to free her hand from the tree. "What?" Neteyam hissed out in annoyance. "You think you're getting out of this?"

“Neteyam, please.” Katara cried out but he wasn’t going to listen. She disrespected you. “I understand now.” His primal instinct grew as the need to protect you washed over the man.

He growled as he wrapped his large hand around the girl’s throat squeezing until her blue face turned purple. “No, I don’t think you do.” You nuzzled against his chest seeing him stand up for you. “I’m going to split her open with my cock and spill my cum in her over and over again, until my scent is engraved in her skin.” You slipped a hand on his waist scared that you actually might touch yourself if not careful. “And she’ll carry all of my heir until I say we have enough. And if you think you could come between us then I guess I’ll have to kill you.” As his grip tightened Katara started to beg for her life.

“No, no, Neteyam, I understand. I understand!” She wailed making you smirk at her demise. “You’re together and I actually thank that your perfect for one another. I promise.” Neteyam liked her words.

“Keep begging.”

“I’m not even half the woman Y/n is. I swear I’m not. I’m pathetic.” The girl sobbed making her tears wash away most of the blood that the cuts caused. “Ple-please mighty warrior. I’ll be the first one to cheer as you both enter a room. I promise. Promise so, so, so good.” The way that she was chocking on her tears satisfied your rage so much. Neteyam nodded his head pointing at her chest.

“I won’t kill you.” This had Katara sob from happiness until the man spoke again. “Unless you tell anyone what happened here today. Or if me, or my mate, hear one disrespectful thing coming from your thin lips. Got that. Yeah, actually don’t even look at her wrong, or I’ll kill you and dump your body from the shy, so there’s nothing left of you when you hit the unforgiving rocks from the Hallelujah Mountains. Do I make myself clear?” The woman nodded but it wasn’t good enough. “Do I make myself clear?” This time Neteyam’s voice rang through the forest causing birds to fly away from how threatening it sounded.

“Yes sir. I’m forever sorry for my behavior Neteyam. A-and Y/n pl-please accept my deepest apologies.” You untangled yourself away from Neteyam tapping his lower back signaling him to back up. Katara sighed from relief thinking she was free, but you then trapped her end with your palms resting on the bark on the either side of her head.

“One move Katara, the slightest look or even a giggle and Neteyam’s not the one to worry about.” Again, that same fear entered her eye from earlier. It satisfied you enough where you pushed back into Neteyam’s arms. As he circled his forearms around you, you turned to face your handsome warrior. You stood on your tippy-toes and gripped his hair underneath it all from the back of his head right on the nape of his neck, Neteyam knew this move, so he could only do one thing; meet you halfway. As your lips met in an intense, coveted way, you felt this electric surge through your body. You were addicted to his soft lips and the way your tongues always fought for battle. It had the both of your insides burn hot. The desire was almost too much to handle. It hurt with the burning sensation of need. Need for him to be inside you, and the need of your wet walls to be painted of nothing but him.

Neteyam was the first to pull away almost laughing which instantly had you feeling giddy. Not sparring the girl another look, Neteyam pulled you into his arms and began to walk the both of you in the direction of your waterhole. “Not now, my beautiful flower.” He kissed your head after you stepped over Azusa’s body. “Not yet.” Giggling to yourself you grabbed Neteyam’s hand and let the strong warrior pull you away from your troubles. As your eyes connected to the ground, you couldn’t help but look back at the three Na’vi for one last time to bask in your pride. Katara didn’t dare move and you knew she wouldn’t until you both were out of sight. Good. Bolin was still unconscious which wasn’t a surprise. You did kinda smash his head in quite a few times. Then as you looked at Azusa, you saw an eye immediately shut, when they noticed you staring. The girl faked passing out. Huh, maybe she was a smart girl after all.

“ I can't help it, I'm just selfish, there's no way that I could share you.

Mako was almost sure he could hear the way Korra's teeth were grinding. Her blue eyes were fixated in one specific point and her jaw clenching, he followed her gaze and his own eyes met your silhouette laughing with some other girl who was a little bit touchy with your arm

Korra and you didn’t have a romantic relationship... yet, she always says, it's only a matter of finding the right time and place to tell you and it definitely wasn't in a party celebrating the probending championship.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “You'll hurt your teeth if you keep doing that.” the firebender called for the avatar, cutting her thoughts on how she could fight the girl for you. “You should maybe do something about it and stop killing people in your mind when they're with her.”

Korra looked back at him, he knew about the girl's crush on you, just as Bolin and Asami did. Everyone in the group were well aware of how she ogled you at every chance she had to look your way.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “I don't think here is the correct place, you know.” her eyes went back at the two of you, you now looked very interested in whatever the hell the girl was saying and that made her heart dropped.

That should be her making you laugh, that should be her having you look fondly and interested in anything she said. The avatar crushed her cup of water in her hand, Mako watched with his brows raised.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “I'm just saying, you should start working before someone else make a move on her.” he finished taking a sip of his drink.

And for you... Just one person was aware of how you would ogled her when she was distracted.

Bolin gave you the idea on making Korra jealous so she could action, you tried to be the one to take the first step before and were met with a one-sided flirt or an interpretation of a friend outing instead of a date, so you gave up.

You didn’t know if your flirting was just bad and sad or Korra was ignoring it since she didn’t feel the same way about you, but it was the earthbender accidentally being a wingman saying how Korra didn’t stop talking about you and how pretty she found you on one of your dinners with him that made you decided that maybe you would wait for her to make a move when she felt comfortable enough... But it felt eternal.

You knew the plan your friend gave you was working when in a quick glance of the place while the girl was talking about some weird bending move she claimed to create your eyes bumped into Korra's for a second and the way her blue eyes looked cold and electric sent chills down your spine, so you continued with the plan.

Your hand looked to caress the firebender's arm with what would be interpreted as a second intention which made the girl move closer to you and Korra stood up from her seat scaring Mako who looked at her.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Uhh, Korra, I need you to think with a cold head what you'll do.” the guy at her side said and she moved her hand to shush him.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “I got this, fuck time and place.” she said before making her way to you.

You were way too focused on not looking away to not give another impression that when the avatar took you by the arm and pulled you away you stumbled a little bit with your own feet.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “What the fuck!? Who–” your exclamation stopped mid sentence when your eyes met the blue ones and your legs almost failed you. “Korra...” the calling of her name left your mouth as if you were out of breath.

And you kinda were; the avatar had this serious grimace painted on her face and her aura felt intimidating. You heard the girl you were talking with protest to the avatar on how she was speaking to you, her eyes shot at her and Korra straightened her posture.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Yeah, well, she's going with me now.” she said tilting her head to the side. “Any problem with that?”

The firebender looked for help on your side but you were way too concentrated on Korra to notice anything else. She shrugged and went back to the bar.

Her eyes got back at you and you could actually see how they softened at your sight, non-verbally Korra requested to be out the place with you and you agreed.

The walk out was quiet, once the talks and music sounded distance you two took seats in the concrete stairs outside the place. Your eyes never left Korra, it was clear at how mesmerized and stunned you were at the scene, you imagined everything but that.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “I'm sorry if I was too harsh on you, I just...” her words mixed in the wind, she stopped to think of how to follow. “I was, uhm, I was jealous.”

Your heart skipped a beat, it worked.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “It's just... I couldn't bear to see you with anyone else that isn't me.” she continued, her gaze was avoiding yours until that sentence. That electric blue that made your legs shake met your curious eyes. “I've liked you for quite some time now... And I know this isn't the time or place to say it–.”

Your lips didn’t let her finish whatever she wanted to say as they were pressing hers, at first it was a shy tiny kiss which had Korra stunned at the action. When you pulled away, a flirty smile was growing in your face.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “You like me, you think of me, you couldn't see me with another girl, you were sooo jealous.” you teased her speaking over her lips. That gave Korra the courage to take you by the waist and place you on her lap, your eyes opened with surprise.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “What if I am? You're mine now, I don’t have to share you with anyone else.” she attacked back, feels of tingles at the brush of her lips on yours. “You're mine, aren't you? Can I call you mine?”

It definitely felt almost like a dream, one which you didn’t to wake up anymore. A big smile began to grow in your own mouth. “Of course, I'm yours all yours.”

You had so much to thank Bolin the next day.

Legend of Korra Rant incoming so buckle in

Every time I attempt to rewatch the series, I'm reminded yet again that Mako ruined the series. Any scenes with him in it is ruined because of what an emotional abusive sack of shit he is and because I'm reminded that people still think this soulless garbage is a hero.

Let's go through the reasons for why he's garbage.

He doesn't give a fuck about his brother. People defend him using the fact he took care of his brother after his parents died to pretend he's an amazing dude and that him and Bolin have an amazing relationship. So amazing that he warns Bolin off of Korra because he was jealous despite Mako rejecting her then when he finds out about Bolin having a date with her, he confronts Korra as if she did something wrong. They kiss and when Bolin sees them, he then blames Bolin for having feelings for Korra. Then when he finds out that Bolin told Asami about the kiss he blames his brother. Man he's such a loving brother isn't he? FYI Bolin still acts like he's a great brother through the entire series. Not to mention how the trash bullies Bolin the entire series. He continuously dismissed Bolin's feelings to make himself look better, he's always screaming at Bolin about something like when Bolin is using Pabu to free the trash's useless ass. Bolin is the only useful one of the two. His earthbending and later lavabending actually helps throughout the series unlike Mako's useless firebending and the ligteningbending the writers forget about until they need to make him look heroic. Asami makes better use of electricity than the trash does. Take the trash out and you lose nothing but horrid abusive relationships between Mako and Asami and Mako and Korra. What a loss that would be. There's also the fact that they had a funny, sweet guy that was interested in Korra and the writers put her with the abusive trash who treats his brother like trash. Gotta love those healthy heterosexual relationships am I right? Can't have two women kiss on scene but we can have Mako emotionally abuse the female characters because he's a cis het dude and can get away with it.

Now let's go to Korra. That sack of shit is trash to Korra the first time they meet for no reason at all and when Korra expresses interest in him, he rejects her. But when she has a date with Bolin, the trash attacks her for it as if he has any say in anyone she dates. But then the sack of shit starts to date Asami. So apparently he doesn't want to date Korra but he'll make damn sure no one else will date her. She's nothing but a possession to him. But do you know what really made me want to explode. When Korra finds out that Asami's father was a terrorist, the heartless garbage had the balls to accuse Korra of being so petty and jealous over his worthless ass that she would accuse a man of being a terrorist. And when it was revealed she was right, the spineless sack of shit deflected responsibility yet again by saying it was hard to believe that the man whose wife was killed by a firebender would hate benders. And the shit writers want us to believe that he was such a genius they needed him to become a detective to make him relevant the rest of the series. Oh and the horror show isn't done yet. The piece of garbage that was pretending to care about Asami when he could use her to attack Korra suddenly doesn't give a fuck about comforting her after she learns her father is a terrorist. Korra has to tell his bitch ass to go comfort his girlfriend. And there are actually brain dead people who try to blame Korra to defend this soulless monster. That's why I automatically dismiss anyone's opinions if they claims Mako is a good person.

And oh my God what he did to Asami. She is one of the kindest people ever and that piece of human filth treated her like she was nothing. She was nothing to him but a weapon to manipulate Korra into staying with his manipulative ass and once he was done with her he threw Asami aside like she was nothing. He's always screaming at her like any time she's driving. He thinks he knows who to drive better than the woman who races cars for fun. And she always end up saving his worthless ass while he gets his ass handed to him. Anytime Korra's around, this snake had his hands all over her right in front of Asami without giving a damn about how he's hurting her. Because he's never given a shit about her. Oh and they still do this in the final two seasons. They have Korra hug the trash heap while Asami is right there. But I guess since they're not dating they have him keep doing the exact thing he did while he was emotionally abusing them when they were dating. And his narcissistic ass had the balls to go to Asami expecting her to heat up the tea for the woman he's obsessed with despite him actually being able to create fire. It's so petty and heartless and it's obvious he just loves to hurt Asami. Because the only respect I'll give the trash is not believing he's stupid enough that he doesn't know that every action he does hurts Asami. And she still allowed this snake to stay at her place because he had no place to live. And she allowed his family to stay instead of punishing them for what he did to her. She's one of the most forgiving people ever.

And the fact he suffered no consequences at all for what he did infuriates me. Asami and Korra immediately forgive him and the shit writers have them act like they need his useless ass along to help find airebenders. And they yet again try to make us believe that Bolin needs his trash brother to come with them because they need him. And of course he ends up being useless the entire season until they need to make him look heroic in the final fight scene.

And they have Korra talk to this trash at the end so he can cry that he'll have his back. He's never had her back and he's always been garbage. But the writers prove they are shit writers by doing what shit writers do. Force the characters to act like the trash is a good person by telling you he is when his actions show otherwise and by writing scenes specifically to try to make him look heroic to get people to forget what he did because they're lazy and couldn't actually put in effort to redeem him. They also couldn't have given us a final scene between Lin and Korra to parallel their first scene together to show how their relationship changed to one of caring? Oh that's right, they needed to force the trash on us to make us believe that he has a deep relationship with the woman he claimed falsely accused a man of terrorism because she was jealous he was with Asami. They have such a deep relationship don't they?

The fact that Su Beifong gets more shit than this garbage pisses me off. Idiots act like she's evil because she made a mistake that hurt her sister as a teenager even though she's shown she's changed after 30 years and actively tried to make amends. But the trash abuses the female character for two entire seasons then never apologizes and refuses to even be around them because he's spineless and they act like he's a hero because the writers stop reminding you what garbage he is every scene. It really is pathetic how easily people forgave the trash just because the writers stop reminding them he's trash. That's why anyone who likes Mako but hates Su isn't worth listening to. Because unless they are spoon fed that a character is good by the other characters they can't determine what a good character looks like. Lin and Su actually care about each other even if they have fought. Mako has always been trash to Bolin and has never apologized for anything he's done but people act like Mako's a caring big brother.

And he's trash to everyone in general. Every sentence out of his mouth is the most negative shit and he's the most unbearable character to watch for those who don't immediately forgive him because they want to bang him. He's trash to Wu but people think that was hilarious because Wu was selfish when we first met him and he hits on Asami and Korra. And yet he didn't treat them like trash like Mako does. And Wu actually has an arc. He actually cares about people once he pulls his head out of his ass unlike Mako.

And what infuriates me is that the writers acknowledge the horrid love triangle in season 4 but played it off as a joke. They had the asshole act smug as he's telling the story because he manipulated Korra and Asami into fighting over his worthless ass. Then in the reunion he whines that Korra didn't write to his narcissistic ass when she was experiencing PTSD. Then the writers had him attacking Asami and Korra over and over again for everything they were doing even going so far as to asking Korra if he should trust her Avatar feelings only to acknowledge that they're doing the same thing that they did during season 1, getting on each other nerves ie Mako being abusive to Korra. And the writers portrayed this garbage as a hero.

The writers ruined this show with their desperate need to make us like this horrid character. I can't watch a scene with the trash without wanting to deck him. I have to subside on fanfics now or just not watch any scene with that trash in it. I don't trust anyone who wrote that trash to write anything ever again.

Was Mako really willing to end his friendship with Korra, to be with Asami? Was he gonna make Bolin, break off his friendship with Korra, because he believed that she’s too jealous?

Honestly, no. I don't think he would cut her off completely.

I know it's very easy to criticise Mako for how he handled the love triangle, but it was a very complicated situation and Mako was just a young man who grew up with very little proper social interactions.

I think Mako, in his own way, just wanted everyone in the group to be happy. He liked Asami, and even if she wasn't his true love, since when is being an 18 year old and wanting to go out with a pretty girl unheard of?

Korra very clearly liked him though, and he also had feelings of his own that he didn't know how to deal with.

What you must remember is that Mako grew up in a very difficult environment, where displeasing someone could mean literal death. Naturally, he'd stray from conflict and trying to figure out his feelings would bring such conflict.

Also, he was incredibly grateful towards Asami for all her support of him and his brother. She was also the safer option. Asami is less combative than Korra and Mako got along with her easier, so if he looked at his choices through a purely dispassionate lense (something he'd be used to after his time on the streets) it would make sense to stay with Asami.

Korra's very direct attempts at pursuing him might've also made him nervous, due his previously mentioned aversion to conflict.

I do think he liked her a lot, and cared for their friendship. I don't think he'd try to cut off their relationship, unless Korra continued to (as he perceived it) put pressure on him.

In short, Mako was trying to keep the peace. He didn't do it well, because he's bad at socialising and he was under a whole lot of pressure, but he was trying.

I'm one of those ppl who think the equalist Asami plot for TLOK likely wouldn't have played out that well. I get why peeople want it -- giving Asami simply more to do is always a plus, and plus grey morality is interesting in characters, plus we get to flesh out the equalist movement as it is quite sympathetic.' The problem I have is that committing to a true double agent story takes time and I just don't think TLOK has it, and could easily fumble it. Plus I'm not that bothered about enemies to lovers, and I think Asami's 'redemption' arc would be seen as Zuko-lite.

So my suggestion to develop Asami more, but keep the story relatively uncomplicated for such a busy series with many elements in it:

-- Asami is an equalist sympathiser, not a full blown equalist.

-- She doesn't hit Mako with her moped. Instead, Mako and Bolin put an ad in the paper asking for sponsors. Who drops by, Hiroshi and Asami Sato! Asami accompanies her father as she is a bit suspicious of the probenders, sees probending as a farce. She's angry as benders killed her mother. But Hiroshi wants to sponsor the team, says some spiel about it being good business, gets Mako on side like the show.

-- Hiroshi is an equalist like the show. He decides to sponsor the Fire Ferrets as it gives him in an in on the probending world and the arena that he can report back to Amon.

-- Asami and Mako and Bolin spend some time together. She's suspicious but at some point prior to Hiroshi's reveal her and Mako have a talk. She vents about bending that she knows not every bender is evil but bending took away her mum. Mako says the same thing, bending took away his mother. But bending helped protect his little brother as they had nothing else to rely on. This helps Asami put somethings into perspective a bit-- as I think the discussion of opression in this universe cannot be solely limited to bending, it has to include class as well.

-- Like the show she is still fairly kind.

-- Mako and Asami do not date in book 1, but there is maybe some attraction between each other, but with Asami's bending reservations there is no chance for an immediate attraction in canon. Korra is still jealous of Asami just because she's beautiful and captures Mako's attention. I'm going to keep this version fairly similar to canon so Mako and Korra still date at the end of the series.

-- Asami still invites Korra and Bolin and Mako to her house when the arena is shut down as she's a nice person. Korra is like OWO at Asami. But then she finds an equalist glove in the house-- who would have that unless you're an equalist? And she and Mako muse that it would make sense if it's Future Industries tech, and since Asami lives in the house and has voiced reservations about bending before, it would make sense if she's the equalist and even making them.

-- Asami is heartbroken that her friends would suspect her like that. She's interviewed and released due to lack of evidence. At some point Mako and Korra and Bolin find the secret passageway, Hiroshi is revealed. LIke in canon, she makes the choice to side with her new friends. They apologise to her for doubting her and she forgives them.

The rest plays like book 1 canon (but with less love triangle stuff) and we could spend more time on the ordinary non-bending citizens being victimised by the police.

The reason I like this is that we get a more developed equalist subplot. Asami is kind, but she's wary of bending, and how it can hurt people. It's complicated. If the rest of the show supports that, then Asami is seen as a bit more complicated and reserved than just kind and perfect. She's a bit short-sighted in terms of her wealth giving her privilidge.

I think for the rest of the series, to give Asami more flaws and depth post book 1 you can a) play up her privilege and wealth and b) play more into her insecurities. Book 2 does show that she's worried about literally running Future Industries as a CEO. Instead of the show where her problems are fixed by a man (Bolin) punching Varrick, instead we can see her POV more and how worried she is, more time is spent on her handing over the company, and she also gets the chance to bring Varrick to justice. She can still date Mako and realise he's not right for her. She dates Mako in book 2 because he's there, comforting her, so that can still happen.

Book 3 and 4 can be similar to canon, just have more time with Asami. In book 3, we mention how she's angry and insecure and just needs a break from beng CEO, that she just doesn't get everything right-- which Korra validates her with and relates with her own struggles and pressures as the Avatar. They touch hands, look into each others eyes, they say they understand each other (the start of korrasami).

Maybe in book 4 she makes sure she's a voice for non-benders and intra-community relations, tying the plots from the start to the end together more. And more time spent on her loss of Korra and her anger at her Dad.

Idk. Maybe I just don't see the solution to Asami being underwritten is to put her into an enemies to lovers plot. There's plenty there in the whole series to build off whilst keeping her 'good' and relatively uncomplicated.

Doesn't have to be the character you think is the most evil, just the one you most love to hate/hate to love. They suck severely but whenever they show up you can't look away.

PROPAGANDA:

Amon/Noatak - Bloodbender with a genuinely tragic backstory. Reinvents his entire identity and creates a sham political movement that exploits real tensions between benders and non-benders instead of going to therapy. Explodes at sea with his baby brother Tarrlok.

Hiroshi - Straight up tries to murder his daughter and then runs away like a coward. Bit of an elitist snob. Calls Mako a rat which is ironic considering he's the one spending a not-insignificant portion of his time skittering through a series of underground tunnels.

Varrick - Steals Asami's company and also every scene he's in. Invents the movie and immediately uses it for war propaganda. Has only a wisp of a ghost of a moral compass. Helps start at least two sectarian conflicts. Always has some kind of foot situation going on (bunions, calluses, etc.) and makes it everyone else's problem. Treats Zhu Li terribly and for some reason she agrees to marry him anyway.

Unalaq - Nasty little manipulator. Jealous of his hotter older brother so he gets him banished from their tribe. Was part of the Red Lotus plot to kidnap Korra as a baby. Has an arguably erotic encounter with the ancient Spirit of Darkness that makes him huge and also red (honestly it's an upgrade).

Raiko - Total loser who didn't want a tree growing through his office and was a massive bitch to Korra. Failpresident who coped with his re-election loss by starting the in-universe equivalent of Fox News.

Zaheer - Horrifically brutalizes Korra and then haunts her for like 4 years. Kills the Earth Queen and creates a power vacuum later exploited by Kuvira. The kind of guy you meet at a protest who seems cool at first but then he says something completely batshit that makes you want to back away slowly with your hands up.

Queen Hou-Ting - Shitty old despot whose favorite activities are abusing palace staff and bleeding her people dry. Hates animals. Literally her only redeeming quality is that she's related to Wu. Got very creatively murdered by Zaheer. Probably nobody cares about her but I needed more evil women for this poll hashtag feminism.

Aiwei - Funny little guy with some great jewelry who always knows when you're lying. Let Zaheer and Co. into Zaofu via a secret tunnel attached to his room. Currently enjoying a long vacation in the Fog of Lost Souls.

Kuvira - Created what was essentially a nuclear bomb and looked super hot while doing it. An ethnonationalist who put dissenters in camps and probably killed tens of thousands of people and was only mildly apologetic about it.

Guan - A less hot and less competent Kuvira. Brainwashes Asami, Mako, and Bolin into attacking Korra in the comics. Even more unsuccessful at politics than Raiko.

I have a love hate relationship with her.

On one hand we don’t really get the full story of what went down between her and Tenzin and Lin, what we get in cannon is very vague. I dislike her for hurting Lin like that but she’s a great mom and she genuinely looks out for Korra, Asami, Mako, and Bolin. I feel like I can’t really dislike her because she’s so bland in cannon. I wish they gave her more personality and scenes.

I like to imagine that she was young and dumb and that the situation was like the weird love triangle between Asami, Mako and Korra. Maybe she’s matured as she’s aged and now that she has more life experience and has raised four children and been a committed relationship for over a decade she’s gained perspective. Maybe she apologizes to Lin and and invites her to dinner and holidays etc. and they become friends and gossip. Maybe Pema and Lin scheme to set Korra and Asami or Wu and Mako up. Or they go behind Tenzin’s back and help Jinnora get ready for a date with Kai.

or alternatively what if she was just jealous of Lin for ages and thought it was because she wanted Tenzin. After having kids and marrying him she realizes it wasn’t all she thought it would be. What if instead of wanting to BE Lin she wanted to be WITH Lin all along and she was just in denial.

Maybe none of this happens and they just agree to let bygones be bygones because they’re both mature adults that have moved on.

or maybe Pema is a genuinely terrible person and Kya cusses her out at every family event on behalf of Lin and Bumi gives her dirty looks.

Nectar juice slid down your throat and slipped into your veins. The humid air underneath the party tent was sticky and smelt of cheap plastic.

There were many people around you, most conversing with themselves and your teammates. You sat at your table accompanied by dirty metal and porcelain dishes from dinner.

It was apparent you didn't want to be here. Why would you?

You didn't have friends on any other teams besides your own, you had to wake up early for training tomorrow, and the girl who took your spot on your dream team would soon arrive with her stupid smile and beautiful deep skin.

Tonight was the night of torture. Why couldn't anyone else see that?

"Hey, Lightning," an old colleague, Kei, greeted as she sat beside you. Kei used to be on the team you're currently on, The Element Mixers, but she was offered a spot on an international team. She obviously couldn't refuse. The pay was a lot better than what she had and the benefits were outstanding. "Whatcha doin' all alone? You know the party's over there, right?" she nodded her head towards the cluster of people. She laughed.

You shrugged as you swirled the nectar in your cup. "Yeah, so? I have no business being over there."

"Why's that?" she frowned, squaring her body towards yours. "You still feel like you don't belong?"

"No, I feel like I belong now," you sighed. You picked at the skin on your nails. The sweat on your palm combined with the condensation on the metal cup was making your drink slip out of your hands. "There's just someone here who I don't want to see."

Kei's frown deepened. She looked around the room, trying to find someone who would be unworthy of your love and greatness. There were some grungy people, but they were nice on the inside, so they were somewhat worthy of your love. Everyone else was colleagues Kei saw you with or your teammates. "Well, you mind telling me who?"

You threw back your drink, the nectar momentarily solving the itch in your throat. You haven't told anyone about your animosity towards Korra. How could you? She's the Avatar, a beloved icon for centuries, and you were hating her for selfish reasons. You don't even know her. You just know you don't like her.

"Someone from the Fire Ferrets," you confessed.

"Oh!" laughed Kei. "Well, luckily for you, the Fire Ferrets aren't even here."

"What?!" you exclaimed. In a normal setting, your volume would've caused others to turn heads, but with the loud chatter and music, no one batted an eye.

"Yeah," Kei laughed once more, "the Fire Ferrets were unable to some because of some arrangement the Avatar had prior, so they decided not to come altogether. I think Bolin said they were going to do something small by themselves."

You scoffed. Of course, you waste all your party energy on someone who's not even here. You could've enjoyed this party. You could've been the life of the party yet you decided to sulk and be angry. Why didn't your teammates tell you? How did Kei know?...

You glanced at Kei with a raised brow. At the sight of her colored cheeks, you had your answer. She had a little crush on Bolin. She probably got his number back when she was on The Element Mixers and never stopped talking to him since. You made a mental note to tease her about that later.

Right now, you had a party to leave and moves to train. Saying your goodbyes to Kei, you found your teammates and informed them of your updated plan.

They should be surprised that you wanted to leave the party early, but they're not. You loved to train super hard before a big tournament and knowing that you may be going against the Fire Ferrets, a team you have some weird stuff against, they should've seen your early dismissal coming.

"Just don't overwork yourself, okay?" your team leader, Guo, prefaced.

You waved him off with a huge smile on your face. "Wouldn't dream of it."

Pumped from last night's training and the amazing breakfast you've had with your teammates, you were ready to take on anything. You didn't even care you were fighting against Korra today. You had a few games before you went against her, considering if she even won her games before your match.

With your duffle bag slung over your shoulders, you laughed at a joke a teammate made as you guys walked into the training room. It was protocol to warm up before matches to prevent injuries, but your captain liked to get in early to have the training room to yourselves.

Turned out, the Fire Ferrets captain thinks smiliarly.

The smile wiped off your face when you laid your eyes on Korra's ponytail. The brown skin on her arms flexed as she punched punching bags and grunts came deep from her stomach.

"Of course, they're here early," you mumbled to your team. "It's so like Korra to flex and show off before the big game."

Guo and your other teammate Yi glanced at each other. "Uh," Yi said. "Looks like she's just training to me."

You scoffed, walking into the room and heading to the benches. "Yeah, right." You threw your bag onto the floor. The items inside your bag clattered and clanged against each other. You sat on the bench and shook your head as Korra moved on to her water warm-ups. "Just look at her. She thinks she's all that just because she's the Avatar."

Your teammates reluctantly came to your side. They sat on the bench and changed out of their shoes and into their workout shoes. They really didn't see anything out of the normal from Korra.

She was already practicing before the three of you walked in, so she had no one to show off to unless she wanted to show off to her teammates. But even then, she was so in the zone, your teammates were sure she didn't even notice y'all walking in.

As you approached the training floor, Mako and Bolin cut in front of you with scowls on their faces and their arms crossed over their chest. Mako looked scarier with his thin eyebrows and scrunched-up face while Bolin looked like an angry teddy bear.

You totally understood why Kei had a crush on him. He was totally her type.

"Can I help you?" you sneered.

"We heard you have some altercations with Korra," Mako spoke. "We wanted to make it clear that we would have none of that. Your personal business stays outside of the ring and disappears the moment you set foot into the arena."

You scoffed, pushing past Mako. "What Korra and I have is none of your business. You're not my captain, Hothead. I don't have to listen to you."

"Well, can you?" you swore you heard Bolin whine. "I can't stand the animosity on the court. Do you remember that one time Korra fought that guy and he almost lost his life? I don't want that to happen to you." Bolin eyed his brother. "Or us."

You let out one loud laugh. The laugh echoed throughout the room causing your team and Korra to pay attention to the conversation you were having.

"You think she's strong enough to make me cower during the match?" Okay, that came out douchey-er than you want to, but it's too late now. "Please. Just because she's the Avatar doesn't mean she's one of the greats in Probending. Just means she has an unfair advantage."

"Hey," Korra's voice boomed from a few feet away. "It's a well-known fact that I only use water bending to compete. Anyone would know that if they actually paid attention to the games."

"Sorry," you feigned a pout. "But I don't care about your games. I focus on what I have to bring to the table and improve my moves from there."

"So, you don't study your opponents?" Bolin questioned. With a slight smirk, Mako winced.

"That's not exactly the best tactic, Mixer."

You grumbled. Of course, you studied your opponents' moves. It was stupid not to know what you go up against. You were just trying to prove to Korra that you didn't care about her.

"Yeah," Korra chimed. She walked up to you, her arms crossed over her chest. Now, it was your teammates' turn to stand behind you like guard dogs. Mako and Bolin copied their stands but stood behind Korra. "That's not the best tactic and everyone knows you're obsessed with me. You don't have to lie to look tough."

You crossed your arms, squaring your shoulders to have a wider frame. "I'm not lying and I always look tough. I simply don't care about you so why would I study your moves?"

"To win," Korra snickered. "But it's fine. If you didn't study my moves, that means it'll be an easy fight because I've studied all yours." Korra stepped closer to you. You matched her move. "I know all your tricks."

"I highly doubt that," you whispered with narrowed eyes.

You tried with all your might to intimidate Korra, but every move you made triggered some sort of amusement in her. You could see it in her eyes, how they lit up when you tried to act tough; the corner of her lips would upturn into a smirk.

"I don't understand why you don't like me, Mixer," Korra took your lead in whispering the rest of your conversation. "I haven't done anything to you and we barely go against each other."

"That's for me to know and for you to never find out," you spat.

A satisfied hum came from Korra's lips. She leaned closer to your face, scanning your facial expressions and features. As she continued to gaze at you and you returned her gaze, your teammates stepped closer.

Mako and Bolin did the same, their eyes burning into your teammates.

Finally, after a slow and painful moment that felt like minutes, she pulled away. "I wouldn't be too sure about that. I'll see you in the arena, Mixer. Be sure to keep the crowd riled up for me. I can't wait to hear their cheers while I kick your butt."

With a laugh, she turned on her heels and resumed her training.

You let out an exasperated groan, turning your back to her and throwing your arms in the air. "I just can't stand her! She's so annoying and cocky. Like, who does she think she is?"

"The Avatar?" Yi spoke. She earned a glare from you, but she ignored it.

"Come on, Lightning, she was only like that because you started talking smack about her first," Guo attempted to rationalize with a hand on your shoulder.

You shrugged him off, another scoff leaving your mouth. "You don't get it. No one gets it. I'm going to beat her scrawny self–"

"–Scrawny?" Yi interrupted. Both you and Guo glared. She scoffed, putting her hands up in the air. "Come on, look at her! No one with thighs like hers and arms like hers is ever considered scrawny. You're insane."

The game against the Fire Ferrets was anything but easy. The matches before them went by like a breeze. No player was ready to feel the fire of your fury.

However, with the Fire Ferrets, you could barely make hits. The three of them were basically unstoppable. Maybe your conversation with them earlier riled them up more than you meant to. Rookie mistake.

Unluckily for the Ferrets, your team was just as fired up. Yeah, your team wasn't making any hits, but neither were they. There was a thick tension in the arena, even the announcers picked up on it.

"Oh, and another miss from the Fire Ferrets!" one of the announcers claimed. "I would hate to be you if you were missing this fight! While none of the teams are landing hits on one another, their determination is through the roof! It really keeps you on the edge of your seat."

"I really wish they would shut up," you told Yi as the two of you covered each other. Guo was too busy taking care of Mako to talk.

"Yeah, but hey, they're kinda entertaining."

An earth disk flew from the opposite side and made aim toward Yi's head. She dodged, Bolin exclaiming a sorry from the opposite of the court and then earning a scolding from Mako.

Guo took the opportunity to send a blast of water his way, causing the 6-foot something to fall onto his back and slide into the second ring.

You cheered Guo on. Finally, some minutes into the match, there was some action.

Since then, the action seemed to skyrocket. Hits upon hits kept flying by and landing on each target. Guo and Yi seemed to flip-flop between Mako and Bolin, but you had your eye on Korra and Korra only.

There would be an occasional blast of fire from Mako or some earth sent your way from Bolin, but you would send a string of earth discs their way to tell them to back off.

You wished you kept your mouth shut this morning. You've never seen such impressive teamwork from the Fire Ferrets. While your teammates were strong, Mako and Bolin were significantly stronger. Yi and Guo were out faster than the Flash.

No wonder you didn't make the Fire Ferrets. You weren't fit for them.

You spend half of your pro-bending career convincing yourself otherwise, but now, in the middle of a match, your reality was dawning on you and chipping at your heart until it broke and shattered into a million pieces on the arena floor.

You weren't fast enough, good enough. You didn't have the strength or dexterity as the Avatar. You hated to admit that, but you didn't. No amount of training will let you be as good as her and it was eating you alive.

Halfway through the second round, the Fire Ferrets won the first, your muscles ached. You were giving your all to Korra, letting your teammates pick up the slack against Bolin and Mako yet again.

Much like the first round, Yi and Guo were out within minutes. Now, unlike the first round, it was 3v1. At least in the first, you and Guo had wilted Mako down before Guo fell off and forced Mako to go with him.

Mako's fireballs and blasts caused you to sweat and your uniform to chafe as you kicked and flipped to avoid Bolin's and Korra's attacks. Your chest heaved, your breaths wheezy and coarse as you tried to defend yourself.

You could hear your teammates' cheers and Kei's encouraging words in your head. But no matter how cheerful their words were or how loud the crowd cheered for you to conquer, you couldn't do it.

This was your toughest fight thus far.

Your arms felt like falling off your shoulders and your legs were so heavy, you weren't sure if you could pick them up to walk.

A water whip to your gut pushed you into the second level. With the loud buzzer of a timeout, the Fire Ferrets cheered. They gathered around themselves, hugging and squeezing as if they won the match.

You scowled at the sight. Something inside your stomach quesed and churned. Heat spread throughout your chest while your teeth ground.

"You're okay!" Guo shouted. "Keep going! You got this!"

His words fell upon deaf ears.

The end was near and you had wished his optimism would die short in a fire. Could he just be real for a couple seconds? Would it kill him to tell you that you sucked and everything you've ever said and trained for would be for nothing?

Your eyes stung as you regathered yourself. You weren't sure if your eyes were stinging from tears or sweat, but that didn't matter now. You had a new game plan in your mind. First thing first, send Mako back. The closer his fire, the hotter it is. If you could send him to the second level, you would have some sort of relief.

The second part of your plan was to send Bolin back as well. Earth vs Earth was easy for you to figure out and Bolin excelled in short-distance combat. Sending him back would either tire him out or eliminate him altogether. You didn't care which one would happen first.

To handle Mako, you sent a few boulders his way along with pebbles to annoy. Mako did find the pebbles annoying, as predicted, and ended up in the second level.

You had a similar tactic for Bolin but didn't focus your earth elements to hit him but instead to push him back further and further to the second level line.

"Oh! And this is unexpected, but the single Elemental Mixer is taking on the Fire Ferrets alone!" the announcer from earlier well, announced. "The Fire Ferrets have to be the team to beat this year with the help of the Avatar and her training tactics."

You groaned, dodging blasts from the three of them still. "She is not all that cracked up she's made to be!" You sent slabs of earth towards Korra's direction. She used a thick string of water to slice the slab in half.

Why weren't you born a waterbender? She cut your slab so effortlessly, it was as annoying as it was impressive.

"Aw, whining about me again, little Mixer?" Korra taunted as she sent more water your way. It hit your shoulder and the liquid absorbed into your uniform, but the force wasn't strong enough to knock you into the third level.

"Shut up, Korra." You used pieces of rocks and slabs to make your own shield from the three's attacks. You were borderline fatigued. Even if your moves slowed Bolin and Mako down, Korra was still in the first line beating you up.

"I'm not sure if I want to." Korra used her water to wipe away your makeshift shield. Mako and Bolin went right back to throwing attacks.

They were getting tired too, their attacks were getting sloppy and barely hit you anymore.

"What happened to showing me up and winning?" Korra taunted. She sent a gush of water to your stomach, but you created a rock to take the hit. The water disbursed from either side of the rock and fell into the water below.

You threw the rock up then gave it a sidekick. The rock's pieces flew toward Mako and Bolin, but Mako used his fire to dissolve the pieces into ash. "You're not my priority right now," you told Korra.

"Oh, that's a shame because you're mine." Even behind her helmet, you could see her fake pout.

"Look, Korra, I'm not in the mood."

"Awh," Korra sent water ropes around your ankles. She flipped them, causing your ankles to cross in front of each other and send your stomach first onto the floor. "Because you were earlier. What happened? Got a change of heart?"

You really missed the days when your rivalry was one-sided. "Don't get on the Avatar's bad side". That was everyone's motto and warning to live by.

Why did you have to talk smack about her? Why didn't you have to challenge her and talk as if you were on the same skill level as her? You weren't. That was painstakingly clear now.

You couldn't even hear your teammates in the stands anymore. Was this how hopeless you were? You were acting so badly that your team lost hope? Or maybe they were so into the game that they forgot cheering was a part of the atmosphere. Whichever it was, it didn't matter anymore.

Your body was ripping at you, screaming at you to give up and you were going to listen to it.

Not bothering to get up from the floor, you send earth discs to their ankles. They hopped and scrambled over the discs. Your move caused Bolin to put himself in the third ring, but other than that, no one else budged.

As soon as you pulled yourself off the floor, Mako sent a blast of fire to your chest. You jumped back, putting you in the third ring and then finally to finish it off, Korra sent a strong gust of water to send you dropping into the water below.

You couldn't hear anything on your way down. When the cold water hit your hot body, it was like steam fled off your skin. It was over. The hard part was over and you didn't want to see or face anyone right now.

You stayed under the water as long as you could without worrying someone. Swimming to the surface, you could barely see Korra's ponytail bouncing up and down while she hugged her teammates.

Defeated, angry, and somber, you swam to the edge and went to the locker rooms to change.

By the time you showered and changed, all the sadness and defeat were replaced with annoyance and yet again, anger. You should've been the one to jump around with Mako and Bolin, celebrating your success in the finals.

You should be the one joking around with Bolin while Mako scolded the two of you for not paying attention.

Hanging out with them, training with them, and getting to know them was your dream and Korra had to swoop in and ruin it. She had to ruin everything.

Your feelings towards her were a mild dislike, but now, you hated her.

You, Lightning of the Elemental Mixers, hated the Avatar and wanted her to know it.

The island’s inhabitants seem to have things to hide, and the brothers are determined to get to the bottom of it—even if it means uncovering uncomfortable parts of their family’s past.

like will this explain why naoki and san were murdered when mako was only 8? where was bolin at the time?

is this like an ex-lovers kind of thing? murdered out of jealous rage???? like finding out naoki settled down with an earth kingdom man after leaving the fire nation??? because yin does explain that san's letter describes that she's from the fire nation, not republic city.

all i ask is that they don't turn the brothers into half-brothers or some shit if it does go the ex-lover route. i will throw the whole thing away, save for probably using the comic art for icons, if that's the case lmao)
