doing this made me realize how actually insane i am and how much ive thought about this. its something i do in relationships all the time but wow the amount of time i spent curating these is crazy

also once again this is not how i think THEY dress but how i would dress them. like how i pick their clothes out.

i think ochako usually sticks to a more athleisure sort of look and keeps it simple in general. jeans, sneakers, basics etc.

i think she gets a little self conscious wearing cute things on her own lol so in my mind i am mostly encouraging her

i dress her in stuff that's a little frillier and brighter. specifically i try to style her with the himekaji subtype of gyaru in mind which is like dressed down princess attire. stuff that accentuates her waist and hips... i like her stomach pudge...

i normally pick things in pink for her but i think she also suits green + some light brown.

megumi my beloved

i think megumi probably dresses a little closely to what i've picked here. he likes to wear simple stuff and sometimes layers but it's mostly monochrome. black + white

i like to pick out things that are only slightly more experimental and that play with androgyny for him. sometimes a skirt if he's feeling generous ++ a lot of accessories.

i also like giving him a tighter silhouette. think of what i dress him as like a dressed down techwear with some more edgy details.

him and sakura i thnk can't be pushed too far out so i try to keep in the realm of basic with some flair thats not too intimidating

i would love to put him in a mesh shirt sometime.

This song in particular is so underappreciated and pushed aside instead of being recognised as an emotional, hard hitting, meaningful, lyrical masterpiece, and the video only adds to that. Let's judge D4 outfits!

So first we have the look of the younger version of some of the Villains...they look too modern. I think they should've done a more 90/80's fashion bc if we do a wonky time like of descendants then all the Villains got in the Island of the Lost between the 90's and 2000's (I could be wrong tho) so these guys look too modern, specifically Maleficent. They don't look bad just...out of place.

I kinda like Maleficent's horns, wish her bangs were a little less short. Hades is serving, I've seen pictures of Hook and no. I hate it. Uma's aunt...no.

Okay...so, Chloe and Red. (Hate her name being Red. Like... c'mon)

Actually I don't hate these, I just wished the color palette was different. I hate how each descendants movie the looks became more and more monochromatic. These look like costumes. They look fake, and uncomfortable, no real person would wear these, they look impractical.

I would change those ugly ass pants though. I know what they're trying to do, but no. And the wigs, I was never a fan of the wigs in descendants.

Also I just wished they would stop using leather for everything. I like Chloe's jackets but not in that color nor fabric. Same with Red's.

It enrages me how much people praise his makeup or "feminine" outfits because uneven asymmetrical eyeliner and a shein skirt with an ugly crop top is nawt all that.. if a woman wore that she'd literally be burned at the stake but for ranboo it's "omg he's so comfortable in his gender" like girl

Hey princess! I’ve been MIA these last couple days because I’ve been rewatching obx in preparation for starting my own blog, it’s been years since i watched that first season and i have some thoughts. Can i just say that season one rafe is…i forgot how much he just…he makes me want to sob, for like a multitude of reasons, he’s SOOOO mean!! He actually made me tear up a little sometimes cs he was just being so nasty to jj and pope, i would die if i met that version of him. ALSO!! why tf is he wearing such bright colors!?!? i mean the neon pastels!?? hello?? he’s killing me tbh!! every time he comes on screen I have to turn my brightness down because he’s wearing those ugly loud shirts,! and why does he have a slick back??? God!! i cna see his whole entire forehead and that’s a little terrifying i think, but his face is so pink and he’s so happy all the time, like a little baby. This was definitely an era from him, but i think i’m just ready for psychotic season two Rafe, because he’s my favorite. Anyways that’s all! i missed you sm - 🍄

You said I could talk about moths whenever, so have a list of Links as moths. I’m so tired right now, but that doesn’t matter, because it’s mothing time. Just me rambling about moths while slapping some Links onto them based on vibes. Well, I tried to that ha.

Twi - Luna/Moon Moth. The main lime green color of the wings fits so well with the rest of his outfit. Also, moon, night, twilight? Thematic themes is theming. And fun(debatable) fact, Luna moth caterpillars vomit to scare away predators!

Wild - Uropyia meticulodina. They don’t have a common name :( but they are typically called “dead/curly leaf moths,” so I guess that’s the closest thing. They mimic dead leaves, their wings being curled. And when their wings are spread out, they are shown to be quite fluffy. And their antenna look a bit stick-like in my opinion.

Wind - Small emerald moth. Cute little moths, much love, I love for them. There are also very pretty. Their wings are more blue-green than emerald, and they have white cross lines on them. Just look at them, look at them, they make me want to move to England so I can see them. I’m probably hyping them up too much, but I love them.

Wars - Pompelon marginata moth. Also no common name I could find. Closest thing I could find is “day-flying moth,” but that’s not really a nickname. They are beautiful. Their wings are mostly black, with a striking, vibrant blue coloring on the ends. They look more like a butterfly then a moth. They are the only species in their genus, Pompelon.

Time - Imperial moth. The wings are super cool, they are yellow and rusty in color. I don’t have much to say for this sadly, but the wings do look a bit like semi-circles in some pictures I’ve seen, and that’s cool.

Sky - Atlas moth. They are big. They are one of the biggest moths in the world. The tips of their wings look like snakes. They are so cool. They are just super cool what much can I say.

Four - Madagascan sunset moth. They’re super colorful and pretty, butterfly looking ass(positive). They also drink nectar :)

Legend - Rosy maple moth. They are yellow and pink, they are his colors, and they soooo cute. I beg you to look up pictures of them and just scroll, they are so so so cute. According to one website, they are sometimes called flying kittens. I couldn’t find any other site confirming this, but I like the nickname.

Hyrule - Snowberry clearwing moth. They act like hummingbirds and are so cute. They hover when they drink nectar, like hummingbirds. I also love hummingbirds, so I might make a list of the Links as hummingbirds next. They also have a lobster-like body at the end.

Honorable mentions aka moths that almost fit:

Southern pink moth: They look so goofy and kinda ugly, but in a cute way.

Painted lichen moth: They are tiny and poisonous and also really cute.

White witch moth: Supposedly, its name comes from people trying to shoot it, but they couldn’t hit its body, leading to people thinking it was an unkillable witch.

Texas Wasp Moth: They mimic wasps but don’t have any actual stingers, they’re harmless. They’re two hind legs look like stingers, and they are so funny to look at when they are climbing.

White Plume Moth: They’re funny to look at hehe. They have feather-like wings and hold them in a T-shape.

Greater death's head hawkmoth: They are also called bee robbers, since they steal honey from honey bees.

Any aquatic moths: Some moths leave their eggs in/near water, and they have to crawl out and dry their wings. I just couldn’t look at any of them because the caterpillars and stuff started to freak me out unfortunately.

Sksjsks I went onto my insta and saw that someone liked this… old Jolynes from like, 2015-17 or so that I never got to finish (they’re all on my old laptop… I will rescue my files one day… this was my old cartoony style. I’ve revamped it a LOT. It used to be so much more loose… I kind of wish that it still was because it made the style look more simplistic and free? I’ve always been a huge fan of simple art styles!) I remember making an attempt at drawing every canon Jolyne outfit that I could find (at least the official colored drawings, not the ones from the manga since that would’ve been too much for me. I have the Jojoveller (I bought the Jojoveller back when it first came out from Japan and paid like, almost $200 for it orz….. should’ve waited for the price drop lol. I have every JJBA artbook tbh. But that helped me track down most of the official Jolyne stuff. Not all but a lot of it!) I’d drawn up at least 20 outfits at this point. At least I think so? These were just some of them. Hopefully, I’ll be able to retrieve my drawings again… the faces that I used to draw on my old style used to be so ugly, sorry.

Here’s an example of this same style but revamped to now lol…

(Yuki wip…. The bodies have more standard anatomy but the hands are still blocky like??? The faces are prettier tho…. Has it lost a bit of personality? Maybe… I do like my new style tho… But could I still even call it a cartoony style, especially since it looks more anime than before :/…. Uh, I’m thinking too hard on this :(….)

Another example is this Rengoku… it’s a little diff from the Yuki one despite being the same cartoon like style? (Barely cartoon anymore…) I don’t usually draw the nostril slit for this style but I did so for Yuki since it just looked better… idk if I’m gonna start doing that or not, I’ve literally been driving myself insane over deciding if I want to start drawing nostrils or not… for this Rengoku, it’s definitely more accurate to the style that I was pushing for but hm….. Similar to these Makima’s…. I didn’t draw the nostril…

I like to keep the ears very simple in this style as well and again, look at Makima’s hands. They’re supposed to be blocky like this hehe. The Yuki wip is more of an improvement of this same style but I’ve been so all over the place with it… I feel so bad, omg. The most polished example that I could find immediately of the original cartoon style was of these Shinobu’s… see how round and free everything is!?

Don’t even get my started on the chibi styles…. I have a handful… because I’m indecisive. The Sukuna wips are from a new chibi style that I’ve been thinking about and I rly like it… The Kak/Oc chibi was for a commission that I had sm fun drawing for. I still like the style! I’ve always loved when artists left the pupils white for some reason? I wanted to do that, too! I forgot to color the lineart in the girls skirt lol….

This style with Sanemi and Uzui is rly cute to me as well… I will not be retiring it. I kind of hate the old chibi style with Josuyasu tho. Hideous to me. And overly complicated. I don’t really like chibi styles that have TOO much going on, especially if they’re not as cute since chibi’s are supposed to be cute. I said ugly but beauty in art is subjective sjsjs… if they’re pretty and cute than idc. So I technically have three chibi styles that I like.

Ohh actually, I have two other chibi styles….. fuck, I just don’t have any pics of them that I’ve uploaded, only saved as files. One isn’t really a serious style at all tho, they were for fun (experimental) and the chibi that you can see hanging in the corner of Yuki in the wip above is of another simpler style as well…

Rant? I guess?? Not really, just rambling.

Something that makes the chucky subreddit mad is when I say Child's Play 2 isn't my favorite and it's rly low in my ranking, now thats not to say that I didn't like it but there are parts that I do! I just don't like how..colorful it is? And I really really hate how fast the franchise goes straight into action so fast, (this EXCLUDES the first two films)

Child's Play 2 is really bright and colorful for a horror movie, and I get it. It's supposed to be morute in a childlike sense, but I like the more gothic elements in chucky movies. Like c1, bride and curse.

Cult of chucky has got to be my very least favorite (except for the last 8 minutes of the film with nicachucky and tiffany), it's so bright and blinding. The constant white color and bright lighting of the mental hospital is almost overwhelming.

Chucky season 1 was okay-ish with maintaining darker colors and dark/timid color coded themes. Chucky season 3 definitely does the gothic-ish theme well too.

Now onto my (mostly, there are some gripes here) positive rambling

Curse of chucky is the BEST for the muted color / dark lighting theme that the Child's Play aura has, and what I mean by aura is (in my opinion) chucky films just don't necessarily feel so beamy and bright, like it almost ruins the dark and nightmarish vibe it should have. Curse of chucky however has the muted/timid colors, it's a slight gorefest (compared to other movies like terrifier for example. Hence why I said slight) and it has the gothic element especially in the house it takes place in. Only issue is that it goes straight into action in less than 10 minutes of the film.

Child's Play 1 also did well with muted colors, the night-time in late 80s chicago (mostly beautiful in this film omg especially with the subtle colorful lights in the streets) and the almost eerie silences throughout the film, and the raw aggression that chucky's character had at the time too. I almost feel like he's nicer as of late, and like yessss emotional maturity you go girl, I wish the films and the tv series would've stuck with chucky being as vicious as he was in the first 3 films, and ALSO not being so open about being alive like in c1, c2 really killed that not even a trilogy in.

Chucky season 2 was AMAZING with my preferred color scheme, not too bright but not TOO dark. I know it offended some Christians but as a devoted Christian, I loved it. No offense taken as I personally don't believe any was delivered either, my only gripes with season 2 are nica's outfits and glenda's outfits..dude..the neon colors gotta go. Glen's fashion was nice though! I liked theirs. Some of Glenda's outfits are faves of mine, especially the ribbed black crop top, and the black jeans with the red straps(?). Onto Nica's outfits, I know that was all Tiffany, however the dresses were so ugly 😭 Nica's own choice of outfits when she left with Glenda and Kyle were sooo much better. Along with her looks in season 3. My only other gripe with season 2 is G.G..ew. hair is too vibrantly dyed red, and the hairstyle doesn't even remotely suit the doll. Not only that but the denim/patterned pin jacket is gross. The rest of their outfit is nice though, it'd be better if the black dress was paired with a leather jacket AND add the pins to that instead because the pins weren't exactly ugly. G.G's makeup isn't terrible but again, doesn't fit the doll.

Bride of chucky, oh where do I even start. This movie always gives me a wave of nostalgia everytime I see it because it was my first chucky movie. And I LOVEEEE the gothic theme all throughout the movie, the usage of blue/purple/red/gold PERFECTLY and those colors don't even really go together! But I gotta say, the set nailed it. The outfitting nailed it. Ronny Yu NAILED directing this!! I love how it toned down chucky's color palette too from the bright childlike colors to fit a gothic film lighting, I also like stitched chucky better than the good guy doll, it's eerie and fits him better. I adore how tiffany made a wedding dress and leather jacket pair work too, her whole makeover and outfit worked so well and it's an iconic scene too! I love love love how this film doesn't stray away from its dark lighting and muted colors either. I wish it was more serious tho, that's my only real gripe with it. And boy I really wish the baby glen scene was extended, at least up until psyches found them in the cemetery because canonically it wasn't that long after Glen killed Detective Preston (I think that was his name). All that aside I love the colors, the outfits and the soundtrack.

Seed of chucky is definitely my all time favorite out of all 7, bride is a close second. I just wish the darker tones made up in most of the movie stayed throughout more of it. I love love LOVE glen's outfit and color scheme! Timid purple works with him so well. Glenda's imitation of Tiffany's look was also adorable...and apologies but, seed Glenda's makeup was a lot better than syfy G.G's. Now Glen and Glenda are my all time favorites (as evident to anyone who's ever met me or seen my account lol) i wish Chucky would've stayed alive and lived with Tiffany and the twins. Finally I wish that as human kids at the very end of seed, there were more scenes with them, especially with Glenda, including the scene where Fulvia gets killed by Tiffany.

I don't know what this ramble really was about or if it makes sense. It probably doesn't. Just a cluster-bunch of my opinions all slammed into one post. I guess the TLDR is

bright colors bad, gothic themes good.

Also child's play 3 isn't included because i hate it.

omg it's my time to shine hahah i love talking costumes! firstly, mike's shirt is described as orange here by the costume designer so its not part of the blue and yellow theory really, sorry y'all! but we dont need that as byler evidence cos theyre clearly in love anyway. will was definitely judging his ensemble and my fav part is the way it says 'SURF' splashed across the back in huge pastel letters. it's an all-round cringe shirt for mike wheeler whose personality does NOT suit surfer boy style let alone fake, ill-fitting surfer boy knock off style haha. so really what the costume designers were doing is not trying to make mike look objectively bad in terms of out of context outfit, but rather its so awkward for his character and delivers the awkward vibes in as little time as possible in order to set the tone of the scene. so we can add into this...

the camera angle showing him cluelessly looking around for them

the way he's wearing sunglasses indoors, a feat only julian casablancas can pull off. mike wasnt on the concourse, he was never exposed to sunlight since he got on the plane in indianapolis and perhaps not even then lmao, no need for shades!

his goofy wave and squeaky, performative voice 'oh! oh hi will! fancy seeing you here!'

and the biggest culprit of all: THAT HAT

I mean, what is that hat? its the way its sat on his head making his hair look like a wig. major worzel gummidge vibes tbh. that hat cannot be worn with hair down, it should be with a high ponytail which makes me think is this even a man's hat? subtle costume design.

and lastly, the clothes are ill-fitting (just like his hellfire shirt which hangs off him and washes him out, making him look pallid and weary in episode 1). the orange washes him out, making his skin look extra pale (compare to the warmth of the van scene and how golden his skin looks there). the purple shirt does the same, and the vest is far too big for him. finn described the whole outfit, but mainly the flip flops as 'gross' lol, but its made worse by the sheer contrast of mike to will and el and everyone. he's so not cool here, in every way. perfect costume design storytelling!

so yeah, these details are subjective really, but then again you could say all of art is subjective. they try to create a mood and make you feel certain things when watching, and some people just won't get it. thats not a bad thing, but i think recognising when your taste butts heads with the artistic intention is very interesting! i always found mike to be a babe but i cringed so hard when he rocked up in this ensemble lmao. and i think the duffers wanted me to! compare it to how much his brown hair and pale skin suits the forest greens of season 1 and 2. mike is an autumnal colour complexion, not spring/summer pastels :)

Also yes! to the minimizing 'color theory' a little - it's a nice element for these two but I think too much stock is placed in what's a minor detail when so much more is important about these characters. And agree, Will was totally judging - even if he's into Mike, it's so clear that he's doing something out of character and awkward and trying to put on a different image for his girlfriend. I don't necessarily think the outfit is ugly - simply not Mike. That's what I'm saying but oh man, so right on every point. It's a very good storytelling tool. Yes, it's ill-fitting and the coloring makes him look off, like everything about how he's presenting himself is wrong. Overcompensation. Desaturation. I find the mistaken effort endearing, which I think is the point as well. The cringe along with the oh, Mike. He tried so hard and it turned out so wrong. You feel for him!!

(Hides though 🫣 as I'd absolutely wear the hat, I love an ugly hat. Then again - I go out of my way to wear ugly fashion on purpose sometimes because it's fun and amuses me, but that's a pointed choice haha. Mike probably thought it all was cool. I am not trying to be cool ever.)

He is an autumn boy! Fall colors and fall in general! Loved your take, very good insights. Agree agree, there's a lot of meaningful layers here and reasons for what we saw in that scene.
