Eli Stone: The Future Revealed
Sure, the series is over. But don't you want to know what would've happened with Eli and Maggie and the gang? We got the scoop
Just over a month ago, the dearly departed Eli Stone aired its series finale after months of being on hiatus. Fans got to say goodbye to the show, while learning that Eli (Jonny Lee Miller) and Maggie (Julie Gonzalo) got their happy ending and Wethersby Stone was safe from foreclosure.
We've since learned that this fairy-tale ending is not the case. We caught up with executive producer and creator Marc Guggenheim, who spilled the complete future for Eli and the gang, which was especially easy since they had scripted four episodes past the series finale. Since those episodes are not airing, we thought Eli fans might want to know what would've happened.
For true fans, some of the following will shock you. Some of your favorite couples don't end up getting their happily ever after, while one new couple—that will leave your jaw on the floor—does. You also may be surprised by who might've played Taylor's (Natasha Henstridge) mother.
Be prepared...
Eli and Maggie: "The idea was going to be that Eli starts dating Maggie, and then just as things are going really great, there's a knock on the door. He opens the door to his apartment and there's Grace [Katie Holmes], who is back in town."
Eli Ends Up With Grace? "We didn't know whether or not he would end up with Grace. Obviously had we gone to series, it would've been difficult for him to end up with Grace because we didn't have Katie Holmes on a weekly basis. But we thought it would be nice to bring her back for an episode, and she was game. We wanted to end the season with her."
Maggie and…Nate?! "Maggie and Eli don't end up together. Maggie and Nate [Matt Letscher] end up together. In episode 11 of season one, when you saw Eli [10] years in the future in Times Square, the baby that Maggie is holding is her baby, but it's with Nate. We were going to revisit that flash-forward and return to Times Square. You would see that Nate arrived late, and as Eli took the stage, he was going to push his way through the throng of people to meet up with Maggie."
Dr. Chen and Nate: "They were going to go into practice together. We had Nate lose his job at the hospital and eventually Nate and Chen [James Saito] were going to open up an Eastern and Western medicine practice. It was going to be like The Odd Couple."
Matt and Taylor: "They were going to get married. Taylor would eventually have their baby. Matt [Sam Jaeger] was going to be the surprisingly good father. Taylor would find it difficult to balance work and motherhood, but Matt would show a surprising ability for being a dad."
Jordan, Taylor's Mama and the Firm: "Jordan [Victor Garber] was going to reconnect with Taylor's mother. We were hoping to get Goldie Hawn. That was the plan and hope. [Also], Wethersby Stone was going to continue to grow and prosper. Maggie would eventually come back to the firm."
Happy Eli Ending? "Eli gets a very happy ending. Basically the overall plan for the show was that with each season, Eli's profile would get bigger and bigger, until by the end of the series, he would be talking to crowds of thousands of people. His profile would grow until he actually found it difficult to practice law because he had so much notoriety. Then the show was going to shift from Eli being a lawyer to being more of an active prophet. One of the things we always said on the show was Abraham Lincoln was a prophet, Martin Luther King Jr. was a prophet, Gandhi was a prophet. All three people met premature ends. As Eli's profile grew, the danger grew to him as well."

top 9 books
tagged by @gayarthur
(not in any order)
1. in memoriam by alice winn
as soon as i started reading this book i knew i wanted to reread with a pen. queer book set during ww1
2. blue lily, lily blue by maggie stiefvater
this book (and trc in general) had me in a chokehold when i read it in high school, not plot just vibes, the levels of mutual pining had me going insane
3. if we were villains by m l rio
i started this intending to only read about half go to bed and then finish it the next day because i’d already read one book that day and i finished it that night. another book i need to revisit with a pen. it has it all: murder, shakespeare
4. a man called ove by fredrik backman
this book is translated from swedish. the last book i read last year and the end had me sobbing. grumpy old man (who reminded me of my granddad) developing meaningful connections with his neighbours
5. the hunger games by suzanne collins
it feels like such a basic answer but this was one of the first books i ever sat down and read in one day. i borrowed it from the school library that morning and started it when our teacher gave us “free time” during our social science class and finished it at 1am. also when i was first on tumblr i was a hunger games blog (not this tumblr but my old one rip)
6. the poppy war trilogy by r f kuang (i know i cheated by including the entire trilogy but i don't care)
just this entire trilogy is so good (definitely check trigger warnings before reading though). i was originally intrigued by this series because it was described as “what if azula was the avatar” but it is so much more than that. explores the effects of war and colonialism
7. weather girl by rachel lynn solomon
one of my favourite romance books, two people who work for the same news channel work together to gets their divorced bosses back together (i just really love this trope, see: one of my favourite romcoms is set it up). touches on mental health issues.
8. six of crows by leigh bardugo
another super basic answer but i also hate that this book is considered a "booktok book" when it was originally a "tumblr book" but i loved all the crows (and also the pining between kaz and inej). just ✨fantasy heist✨
9. vicious by v e schwab
i have always been a big reader but this book got me seriously back into reading after i graduated uni and started working full time. the relationship between victor and eli is just so good and toxic and fascinating. i just love the way v e schwab writes
special mention to summer sons by lee mandelo because it was so so so good
and also the bumper book of peanuts comics because i love flicking through it when i need a pick me up
this list was genuinely so hard for me because i read so many books and then forget about them except for the feeling it left me
it also started with me trying to give short descriptions as to why i liked the books and ended in word vomit
also going to plug my storygraph (and if you see i'm 50 books behind on my goal no you didn't)
tagging @shitouttabuck @fatedking @disasterbuckdiaz @enchantingverse @uelut-erinaceus @killianjonesz
#tag game#thank you andrew for giving me an excuse to talk about books#this had me staring at all my books trying to pick out my favourites#i know some of you have probably already been tagged but if you haven't done it yet then it still counts#i was so tempted to include one of my hockey romance books in here

Hi my-mt. It is Aurelia. I so appreciate your views and reviews on TWD episodes. I was on Twitter and I saw Maggie and Negan are getting their spin-off called Isles of the Dead. I know it may be a lot and I do not pressure you to explain the whole works of it, but what goes into constituting to give characters a project in the form of a spin-off? I like Negan and Maggie but... unfortunately, I do not understand the reasoning behind their own show. And I am trying to understand without getting my own personal feelings involved. I know you are in the industry, so I thought I should ask. And I hope you have been well. I am okay, too.
Oh boy. I mean I think for TWDU there's a very specific set of circumstances. The flagship show is ending most likely due to financial strain, but if Gimple (and the actors) want to continue the stories of certain characters, his overall deal with AMC allows him to pitch ideas for them and if studio execs think they can turn a profit, they'll buy them. Obviously I'm oversimplifying because the idea could have originated from anyone involved or it could have evolved from something entirely different. Maybe they wanted to give Negan and Maggie their own shows, but figured it'd be cheaper or bring in a larger audience if they combined them. Maybe Gimple always had a specific story for them in mind, but ran out of runway on the flagship show. Maybe one of the actors said "Hey, Daryl and Carol get their own show, now I want mine and I want to work with my friend. Can we make it happen?" Maybe it's all of the above. There's no way to be sure unless someone tells us.
Creatively speaking, I don't understand the thought process. 11A had the opportunity to explore their dynamic and it ended up just taking them in circles. Maggie won't forgive Negan and Negan won't apologize, so what more is there to do? How can they grow together? The only thing I can say is that it's far more likely to be mission-oriented (such as looking for Rick) than the Caryl spinoff.
EDIT: Is it Gimple or Eli who has the overall deal? Not that it changes anything

Eli (Elliot) 17yo
Eli was born into a good family but his parents died when he was young and since then he's been passed around, eventually becoming an indentured servant to repay their debts. Eli has suffered all kinds of abuse, a lot of it relating to dangerous work he's done in factories, mines, ships, etc. He also struggles to get enough food and water. Each of his owner's has been verbally and physically abusive when he doesn't do a good enough job with his work but otherwise they don't even care enough about him to dislike him. Despite all this he adapts to each hellhole he gets thrown into and stays strong for Maggie. Eli is strong, stoic, doubts his own worth, smart, obedient, and protective. He lies about eating so he can give Maggie his share and is the type to cower like a dog when threatened but can actually be very skilled with a knife if you come after her.
5'7", messy medium brown hair, always dirty, naturally tan skin with some freckles, lean muscle from working, looks a little sickly and malnourished, brown eyes, has a lot of scars (like a LOT), his left hand was broken badly a while back and didn't heal right so he can't use it very much without it hurting.
Maggie 14yo
About a year ago the same man owned both Maggie and Eli which is when they developed a sort of sibling relationship. He protects her and she cleans his wounds at the end of the day. Because their owner didn't want her anymore he threw her into the deal when selling Eli so they're still together. She's not really worth enough on her own to have any reason to separate them. Maggie is a little naive, she's caring, resilient, usually obedient but can be a bit of a troublemaker. She doesn't hesitate to stand up for herself. People just think it's cute and mess up her hair when she talks back.
5'1", medium brown hair, dark brown eyes, kind smile, big eyes, small and thin but otherwise looks healthy, boyish body type, her hair is long and straight.
Here are my new OC's! These descriptions will probably change as I start writing for them.
