Your 18th Birthday
Characters: Reader, Dean, Sam, John
Word Count: 1,480
Warnings: this is honestly fluff
Author’s Note: In this, the reader is 18 years old and Dean is 17 years old and Sam is 14 years old. If you ever have any ideas that you would want to see before the first episode, don’t be shy. I love writing about the series and making the reader’s character stronger.

“Y/N! Wake up!” You groaned as your eyes fluttered open. You looked at Sam who had a huge smile on his face. He had a box in his hands and you smiled, sitting up.
“Hey, Sammy.” You could smell the breakfast that John was already making you. This is how it always was, every year. Sam would wake you up, John made you breakfast and you would go about your day normally. You tried not to make a big deal out of your birthday.
Most years, it wasn’t. But this year, Dean would make sure this day would be special.
“I got you something.” Sam said, holding the box to you.
“You didn’t have to.” You said, grabbing it. You opened it up and smiled when you saw it was the bracelet you’ve been pining over at the thrift shop. You didn’t have enough money to get it yourself but you didn’t think that Sam had enough money either.
“Sam, this is beautiful. How did you get it?” You asked, looking at him.
“I did a few small jobs. I know you liked it when you saw it.” You looked up at him and pulled him into a hug.
“Thank you, Sam, this is awesome.” You handed Sam the bracelet and he put it on you.
“Happy birthday, Y/N.” You grinned and looked up just as the door was opening.
“Happy birthday, Y/N. I have breakfast waiting for you.” John said, looking inside the room.
“Okay, I’ll be right out.” You said with a smile. Sam got up and left the room. You sighed, smoothing your hair back into a ponytail. Another year, another age. It seems like the older you get, the more stress you had. You couldn’t even imagine turning 30 or 50. You couldn’t even see that far into the future.
By the way your life is going now, you would be surprised if you made it to those ages. You would consider yourself lucky. You got up, going into the bathroom and brushing your teeth. You could never start a day without that first.
You walked out to the kitchen area and smiled at the Winchesters who were staring at you.
“Happy birthday, sweetheart.” Dean said with a grin, eating his own breakfast. Every year, John would go all out, making everything that is considered breakfast foods. He would make so much, there would be leftovers for at least a week.
“Thank you, Dean. How does it feel knowing I’m an adult now and you’re still a child?” You grinned, teasing him as you grabbed your own plate. Dean glared at you playfully and you giggled, sitting down next to him.
“How about I take you out today?” Dean asked, looking at you.
“Oh, Dean, you don’t have to. I mean, this is enough. I have everything I could possibly need right here.” You said, eating some pancakes.
“Please? I’ll make it worth your while.” You smiled and nodded, liking the idea of going out with Dean for your birthday.
“John, this is delicious. You should cook all the time.” You said, looking at him.
“You know I don’t have time.” John said, sitting at the table. You and the Winchesters had a really great breakfast but that’s all it was. Great. Then it was over and you were back to your normal routine. You spent the day like you normal did and you wondered when Dean was going to actually take you out. Or was he just saying that and he wasn’t actually going to do that? You sat on your bed, looking at the bracelet that Sam had given you.
“Hey, get ready.” You looked up to see Dean. You smiled and got up, walking to him.
“Where are we going?” You asked.
“If I tell you, it would defeat the purpose of the surprise. My dad is letting me use the car so whenever you’re ready, we’ll leave.” Dean winked at you and left the room. Your stomach did a few flips and you got ready, putting on a flowy dress since it was summer time.
You were in New York for a case which was perfect because New York was your favorite state in the United States. When you were ready, you met Dean by the door and he smiled when he saw you.
“Is Sam coming?” You asked.
“No, it will be just us.” Dean grinned, holding out his arm for you. You giggled and said bye to John and Sam before taking Dean’s arm. He led you to the Impala and opened the door for you.
“Such a gentleman.” You teased, getting inside. Before you knew it, he was driving downtown. In your preference, New York was probably one of the worst states to drive in. You would have to be born there or be a really good drive to drive in New York but Dean wasn’t doing too bad.
He actually found parking and you two got out. He paid the meter and took your hand, walking down the busy streets. It was close to getting dark so there wasn’t a ton of people but there was still a lot. New York City was the town that never slept. You loved it here.
He took you to Time Square and you grinned, seeing all the billboards light up the night sky.
“This is amazing, Dean.” You looked at Dean to see him smiling down at you.
“I’m glad you like it.”
“So, what are we going to do first?” You asked, letting of his hand and walking a little head.
“What did you want to do? We could just walk around, be with each other and have a good time.” He said, catching up with you.
“I love that idea. There’s a lot of great entertainers here.” You walked down the sidewalk, looking at all the people passing you by. You stopped at a street magician and started doing some tricks to you. You gasped and laughed, enjoying the magic preformed for you. Dean was standing beside you, not watching the magic but watching you.
You’ve been in his life for as long as he could remember. You were his best friend and he didn’t know what he would do without you.
“Dean! Did you see that? That was amazing!!” You said, shaking Dean’s arm. He laughed and nodded, walking away from the magician.
“Are you hungry?” He asked, taking out his wallet.
“Starving.” You said with a grin. He took you to one of the hot dog stands and as much as it wasn’t ideal, it was perfect for you. You were spending your birthday in your favorite state with the man you loved. Nothing could go wrong.
He paid for two and handed one to you. You grinned and looked at Dean.
“Are you ready?” You asked, grabbing the ketchup. You hated Ketchup on your dog but Dean loved it. Dean nodded and took the mustard. He hated mustard on his dog but you loved it. You reached over to his dog and he reached over to yours, spreading the mustard on it while you did the same to his.
You giggled and put the mustard down, grabbing the relish. He grabbed the onions and you repeated the process. You started to eat and smiled as you chewed happily.
“Hey, you got something…” Dean said, pointing to his own face. You tried wiping it off but you weren’t getting it.
“Did I get it?” You asked, staring at him.
“Here, let me.” Dean reached to you and swiped the corner of your mouth, collecting the mustard that was there. He grinned and licked his thumb, winking at you.
“Ew, Dean, that’s so gross.” You laughed, taking a couple of napkins for you and Dean. You started walking away and he looked at you while he ate.
“What? It’s just mustard.” He said after he swallowed.
“You hate mustard.” You said, grinning.
“Fine, next time, I’ll let you walk around, looking like an idiot.”
“What? You’ll do that to a girl on her birthday?” You teased, smiling at him.
“I know today wasn’t much but did you like it?” He asked, finishing his hot dog. You finished yours and threw away yours and his wrapper.
“It was perfect. It was nice to get out of the house for a while. Thank you for being my date.” You smiled, hitting his arm lightly and playfully.
“I’m your date now, huh?” He asked, stepping closer to you.
“If you want to be. I don’t mind.” You grinned.
“Then, let’s go, date. The night isn’t over yet.” He swung an arm around you and took you exploring. It wasn’t much to some people. To other people, they did this on their spare time but it was special to you. It was one hell of a way to start your adult years.
