It was Jason’s turn to keep watch. He quietly approached Damian who was currently holding a silent vigil in an armchair across from Danny’s bed. It had been two days. Forty eight hours of the kid’s unconscious body being hooked up to monitors. His heart rate was low. So was his temperature. Whether or not that was the because of the poison or something to do with the supposed healing factor he had was beyond him. It clearly wasn’t enough to fully flush the poison out of his system. At least he was stable.
Bruce and Tim were the only ones who did not take a shift watching Danny. They were working around the clock to try and find an antidote to this poison. They only stopped to patrol in order to keep up appearances. Then Dick took over trying to find any information.
Damian stretched as he left then paused.
“… you will tell me if there is any news right Todd?”
“…yeah. I will.”
“…thank you.”
Jason settled into his post.
“This is the quickest I think I’ve seen Robin warm up to someone!”
Jason remembered Dick’s comment on one patrol or another.
“I think he found his boldness amusing.” Dick mused.
Jason notes how Danny’s blankets have been straightened out carefully and Titus has been sent to sit at the foot of his bed.
Jason really was going to kill Vlad.
Tim returned with urgency to the bat computer. Looking to Dick as they traded places for the day. He was met with a forlorn shake of the head. Nothing.
Ugh.
Tim hates this. This was the part of the job he supposedly excelled at. But for three days! Three days and no headway.
He was brought out of his research loop by the ding of the sample analyzer.
Tim looked at it slowly and vacantly as if moving too quickly would scare the lead away.
“Tim?”
Bruce did not receive an answer. Tim was engrossed in the readings. They had taken two samples of Danny’s blood. One immediately after he was brought back home, another a day later.
“This is… is it?”
It looks as if his blood is comprised of blood of normal human composition, something that looks like Lazarus water but more concentrated? And of course the offending poison. The second sample was more concerning. The levels of the poison were slightly lower while the other levels were significantly lower. Leaving a mixture that looked more like Lazarus water than the initial sample.
It was clear that he needed more of the concentrated Lazarus water and he had lost too much blood. He was fighting the poison but was far too weakened by the prolonged torture.
“He needs a blood transfusion.” Bruce said looking over Tim’s shoulder.
“What’s his type?”
Bruce squinted. Never a good sign.
“O negative.”
Great. The one with the lowest amount of recipient compatibilities.
“Are any of us a match?” Tim looked into the medical files of all the family members.
“Jason.”
Bruce had all of his kids’ blood types memorized but Jason’s always made him the most nervous. It was unfortunately fitting, it gave him the least amount of options to get out of a bad situation.
“Did you retest his blood since the uh, changes he’s gone through?”
“…No.”
Jason sat in burning silence. The only thing that broke through it was the slightly labored breathing of the kid.
He hates this. Having nothing to do. Just sitting there waiting for something to happen. It’s the worst.
“Todd?”
Jason’s head snapped up to look at Damian.
“Aren’t you supposed to be on patrol?”
“Father has gotten a lead. You are needed in the bat cave. I will watch in your stead.”
Jason didn’t wait to fully get the reason why. Finally something he can do.
Everything was explained. Of course he and Danny would have the same blood types. And of course Jason would have given him his left kidney if he had to.
He sat down. “My left arm’s an easier stick.” Jason said as Alfred prepared what was necessary for the transfusion. His comment did raise an eyebrow from the older gentleman.
“The league of assassins ran a lot of tests. I-”
“Did you see any of the results?” Tim interrupted prompting a moment of palpable silence.
“… no Tim. I wasn’t really in it for most of the time I was there.”
“Oh.”
“…”
“Hmm” Bruce said quietly staring at Jason’s blood sample
“What?”
“Its just-”
“FATHER!”
Damian was shouting from his post.
“Jason stay there. Alfred, don’t stop.”
Tim followed Bruce up to where the call came from.
“He’s…melting!”
It was true. He was melting. Danny’s extremities were melting, slowly slumping into a pool of green goo. Why was he melting?
There was no time answer those questions. The results of Jason’s blood didn’t matter anymore either. Bruce had to do something. The transfusion, It was their best bet and they were out of time.
“Alfred!”
“Right here sir!”
As luckily as one could consider it, Danny’s arms were still intact enough to have a successful transfusion.
Now they had to wait.
24 more hours.
Just a day longer.
Prompt idea: Danny has been attending Wayne family dinners for weeks now and he truly doesn’t know how he got this far
Danny has been without a home or a means to get food for a while because of either identity reveal gone bad or Dan timeline shenanigans. Either way he needs to eat. As a last ditch attempt Danny tries to attend/infiltrate a Wayne family dinner. He’s seen the Wayne kids around Gotham and he’s sure that he could look and act the part enough to get in the door and out with some bread rolls at least.
Was it his best idea? No.
But he sure as sugar ain’t firing on all cylinders rn.
And Bruce already has a gaggle of blue eyed, black haired children.
What’s one more?
Batfam of course notices immediately when a whole new kid shows up, grabs some miscellaneous pieces of food and then prattles off some excuse about “not being that hungry.” (Clearly a bald faced lie) And that they were “Going to the library to study for finals, bye Dad!”
1. No one skips out on family dinners. Even Jason was here.
2. Alfred sets the table for everyone ahead of time and the kid had no place to sit.
3. Nobody in this house studies anything beyond case files.
4. Nobody in this house calls Bruce Dad.
Danny thinks he is suffering from success. No matter where he is in Gotham someone picks him up and insists he’ll be late for family dinner which is unacceptable.
Alfred just wants to feed the boy.
The batkids are amused by his efforts to look as though he’s been here all along.
Bruce is drafting adoption papers as we speak.

ARCANE CHARACTERS AS ROMANCE TROPES
⎯ ୨୧ pairings: vi x reader, jinx x reader
⎯ ୨୧ content: pure fluff, mentions of alcohol, lying, swearing, first love and fake dating tropes used, lowercase intended, not proofread
Tumblr media
vi ⎯ fake dating
fake dating! vi       who made the bet with you at one of jayce’s frat parties. she and caitlyn were officially over, the woman turning to the warmth of maddie to prove that she’d “moved on”, which made vi look like the loser. she couldn’t stand that. getting with the woman she told vi “not to worry about” was low. the only thing to do was go lower- or rather higher. you were caitlyn’s kryptonite. intelligent, charming, fashionable, every time you were around during your friend group’s hangouts she clung onto vi’s arm as if you were a magnet and she was the strongest metal. as if when she let go, vi would fly away and straight into your arms.
fake dating! vi       who approached you while your other friends were occupied, going in with nothing but a red solo cup, cocky smile, and a dream. she soon realized that you’d be a challenge to crack, resorting to begging.
“c’mon pretty!” the pinkett pleaded, moving every which way around you as you continuously turned your body to avoid her gaze. only when she took your plastic cup and held it higher than you could reach, your bodies inches apart as she gazed down on you, did you cave.
“fine, you baby!” you huffed out with a big exhale. the girl paid the diss no mind as she lowered her arm, leaning in to whisper despite the loud party atmosphere. her words tickled the side of your ear, and you could practically sense her shit-eating grin.
“i’ll make it worth your while.”
it’s not that you didn’t want to say yes at the first sound of the question. it was the reason why this bet came to be that made your stomach turn. after some instagram stories, lots of pda, and almost everyone on campus whispering about the two of you, caitlyn would be crawling back to vi in no time. she’d have the power back. at least that’s what she thought.
it wasn’t the acting that worried you, it was your true feelings.
fake dating! vi       who doesn’t understand why you’re so uptight about the situation. you invite her to your house sunday, a piece of loose leaf paper and a pink sharpie on the coffee table. on the top:  “ ୨୧ rules ୨୧ “ in your pretty handwriting.
“rules?” she snorted, arms resting on the top of the couch while she leaned back into the plush throw pillows. you sat opposite of her on the ground, her wide man spreading right in front of you making your head fuzzy.
you look down at your decorated paper and back up at the girl with perfectly furrowed brows. “of course? what, you thought you were just gonna have your way with me?”
a smile quickly grew on the girl’s face, stifling a laugh at your unfortunate word choice.
“you know what i mean!” you whined, picking up the sharpie and uncapping it. “you’re chaotic. i need some guidelines so you don’t throw me into some absolutely heinous situation.”
fake dating! vi       and you who agreed to the following terms after a very unproductive hour of talking: no telling anybody that this is fake (ESPECIALLY POWDER, blabbermouth), watch 10 things i hate about you together (vi hasn’t seen this!?!), yn comes to all of vi’s hockey games and after parties, and no tongue when kissing. vi groaned and debated with you for 15 minutes after you suggested the last one. you claimed there was ‘no need’ for it, she claimed no tongue wasn't convincing anyone that you were a serious couple. finally, you put a question mark next to the rule. you’ll just have to revisit that one later.
fake dating! vi       who shifted in her seat, patting her lap twice in an unbothered manner once you completed the list.
“okay, c’mere.”
you looked up from the paper you were folding, brows furrowing in confusion. “‘scuse me?” the girl didn’t repeat herself, staring at you expectantly. you stood, walking around the coffee table cautiously and standing in between her legs with your hands on your hips.
fake dating! vi       who scoffed and pulled you into her lap, having you straddle her with her hands on your hips while you looked at her as if she had five heads. “listen, we’re gonna have to do a bunch of shit in front of cait,” she started. “right..” you followed up, waiting for the explanation. “so, we need to practice. you know, so that you don’t freeze up or somethin’.” you scoffed, shoving her shoulder. “i’ve kissed people before vi, sorry to burst your bubble.” she grinned at that, tilting her head up at you.
“yeah, but you’ve never kissed me, honey.”
fake dating! vi       who got a little carried away when practising your “fake” passionate kisses, mumbling little quips like “no no, like this” and “restart, you’ve gotta act more natural”. what was supposed to be a fast practice kiss ended up lasting 15 minutes. you ended up fixing your rules list one last time.  no tongue when kissing?  tongue is fine
fake dating! vi       who leaves one of her clean jerseys at your house. when gameday comes, you, mel, and powder spend the hour before the game getting ready for your lovers. jersey clad bodies, blue and white ribbons in your hair (your school colors of course), and eye black on your cheekbones, except yours was pink (for obvious reasons).
fake dating! vi       who’s brain short circuits when she first spots you in the stands, and again when she, ekko, and jayce meet with you girls after the game. seeing her in uniform, all aggressive and cocky out on the ice had you all but drooling in the stands. seeing you all dressed up in her attire got a rise out of her, and a different rise out of caitlyn as she stormed out of the locker room and past the six of you. you gave each other grins and a high five to mask the cheesy smiles accompanying your faces as you admired each other.
fake dating! vi       who takes your hand at the crowded after party, pulling you through the drunken community and up the stairs to one of her teammates rooms. you’re utterly confused as she shuts the door behind you both and reaches over her head to pull her compression shirt off.
“the hell are you doing?” you stare straight at vi with wide eyes, but don’t dare to cover them.
“jayce said he’s sending caitlyn up here for somethin’,” she started, finally peeling the form fitting black fabric off of her body. she looked to you, eyes flicking down then back up. “well? what are you waiting for? strip.” she spoke in too calm of a manner, like she was concealing her true tone underneath.
“oh you’re crazy.” you shake your head, not moving as vi moves over to you. “just-  take off your clothes! i just want her to think we were gonna do it.”
you look at her as if her previous five heads had grown to ten, grabbing the hem of your cropped top and pulling it over your head. at the sound of footsteps down the hall, you rushed to the bed, vi laying back and your body sitting atop hers. warm skin smushed together. glossy eyes admiring each others bodies as pupils unknowingly dilate. vi wondered what would happen if she unhooked the clasp of your bra that she was fiddling with. you wondered when the day would come where she begged to unclasp it.
“just like we practiced, honey?” she asked with her sweet and soft voice, foreign to everyone but you as your lips locked and the door swung open.
fake dating! vi       who didn’t realize how clear her conflicting feelings were until her sister teased her on a saturday morning at ekko’s house. “i see the way she looks at you, and the way you admire her when you think no one’s looking. you’ve got it baaad, sis.”
fake dating! vi       who has been falling for you more and more ever since this stupid deal began. she’s building the courage to let you know just how much you mean to her and make you her real girlfriend.
Tumblr media
jinx ⎯ first love/teenage love
first love! jinx     who became infatuated with you when she saw you at practice for the first time, whether you cheer, play a sport, or dance. the way you bit your lip in focus, the way you move in your element, and the sweat that had your attire clinging to you made her brain go completely numb.
first love! jinx     who pretended not to know you as ekko introduced you, asking if the three of you could be partners for a science project. she’d already stalked your instagram and had it ready to follow as soon as she left the classroom.
first love! jinx     who wasted no time getting comfortable with you. movie nights at her house, late night drives, and the parties. she partied more than one should, saying that’s “what highschool is all about”. she, ekko, vi, caitlyn, mel, jayce, and you all spread out in caitlyn’s glamorous bedroom from the plush bean bags to the girl’s bed, pregaming, chatting, and getting ready for the night.
first love! jinx     who always had you do her makeup when going out, claiming it was to “practice the abstract things” you were too afraid to do on yourself. for her, it was the perfect chance to have you close. her hands rested on your hips and moved to the small of your back as you straddled her. your soft fingers cupped her chin gently to hold her face still while you coated her lashes with mascara. she absentmindedly traced meaningless patterns on the skin exposed by your cropped top, never daring to take her eyes off of you.
“all done!” you exclaimed, holding up the mini compact mirror for the bluenette to admire herself.
“you’re an artist toots, always makin’ me look s’ pretty.” the girl wrapped her arms further around you, causing you to giggle while she embraces you with a cheeky grin.
“damn, you smell good,” she whispered, just soft enough to share the thought with you and make you melt.
first love! jinx     who confessed by accident when you resided in your favorite spot: the rooftop. you were babbling about college and all of your hopes and worries for the future. everything was changing so fast, and you just wanted to know it was all going to be okay.
you shifted in your position, body tense as you lay facing the ombre sky. “you just gotta promise me that even if we don’t go to the same university, we’ll both call each other all the time and try to visit as often as possible. oh, and you have to-” the girl stopped you with a hand to the cheek, gently moving your face to look her in the eyes. she was laid on her side to have you in her full view. “you worry too damn much,” she said in a tone foreign to her. it was gentle and almost breathless, like she didn’t want to scare you away. “you’re not gettin’ rid of me that easy. not when I love you this much.”
the reason for the shock on your face and the gasp from your soft “o” shaped lips didn’t register until she thought back on her words, face morphing into one of horror and worry. what would you say? did she just screw things up?
“...took you long enough.” you whispered through a grin, placing a hand atop hers on your cheek.
first love! jinx     who, once you’re dating, loves sneaking into your room late at night. you’d say good night to your family, put on a special pair of pajamas and lie under the covers awaiting the soft knock at your window. once shes there you hop out of bed, racing to your window and deny opening it for just a moment to tease her out in the cold of night.
first love! jinx     who loves having you all to herself. once inside, her arms immediately find their way around your waist and don't let go until you reach your bed. she only releases for a moment before pulling you under the covers and onto her lap, her hands sliding up your shirt and lips finding the sweet spot on your neck. to her, keeping you quiet all night is some fun challenge.
first love! jinx     who always forgets to leave before sunrise, resulting in you both waking up in a panic when your parents knock at the door. you quickly shout out “just a minute!” hushed, frantic whispers follow before she hides under your bed or inside your walk-in closet, doing her best to suppress her giggles of adrenaline.

this was supposed to include ekko and cait too but i got way too carried away, love my girls <33

WE LISTEN AND WE DON’T JUDGE : BLUE LOCK EDITION . . . m—dni. f ! reader / it’s either pretty tame or freaky idk / doing it raw / creamp!es / virginity and being inexperienced / some ooc but this is just for fun / not proofread
FEATURING ⋮ isagi, nagi, karasu, rin, barou, kunigami, chigiri
Tumblr media
isagi yoichi ⋮ before your relationship was established he really really liked you and didn’t want to mess it up. but then he wasn’t sure if you were on the pill but the sex was so good he ended up coming inside you. proceeded to suck his cum out for your pussy cause of the panic. didn’t have sex with you for a week after that but you were fine.
nagi seishiro ⋮ played a game where he can customize the character and got really pissed off because it wasn’t even half as pretty as you. sulking each time he dies because he think he ‘failed you.’ ended up quitting the game too because he found out there was sex in the game and he wouldn’t want the ‘game you’ being with anyone else that wasn’t him. even got jealous one time because he didn’t know that he was increasing his character’s relationship level with an npc who looked too much like his teammate. too many emotions while you’re watching him lose his mind when you’re perfectly fine eating snacks on the bed. having to console him by riding him and telling him you only love him and not barou.
tabito karasu ⋮ pays for your nails when you get an appointment so you could jack him off after. will also take photos of your nails for you, with one jerking his cock of course. got this pavlov effect that he gets hard every time you show him your fresh new set. yeah he’s ruined.
itoshi rin ⋮ he was a virgin before he met you, and ended up cumming each time he bottomed out the first few times you guys did it. he was inexperienced and very sensitive since he wasn’t used to it. he was still always hard after so it didn’t matter. unaware he was crying one time because he was so overstimulated while you’re clenching down so hard causing his cum to spill.
shoei barou ⋮ you were supposed to meetup with someone else that your friend suggested but you weren’t really sure if it was him when you arrived at the meeting place. ended up going on the date with him and hooking up at the end only for you to find out he wasn’t actually the guy. “what was i supposed to do? deny a pretty girl like you?” went on a few more dates anyway and ended up establishing the relationship properly <3 [ do not be like them! ]
rensuke kunigami ⋮ you were the first person to ever give him head. it felt too good and better than expected. you told him you weren’t too experienced but you worked on him like a pro. he was scared he could hurt you so instead of holding onto your head he gripped onto the wooden headboards. when he came, he held onto it too hard he broke the top part in half.
chigiri hyoma ⋮ moaned out your name during a wet dream. until it shifted, “take it! fucking take it” he said. his teammates weren’t sure if they should wake him up any time soon and they weren’t too sure how to face you after hearing that.

He’s more patient than he looks
pairing: Max Verstappen x reader
Tumblr media
The hum of conversation filled the Red Bull Racing headquarters as employees bustled about with an energy that was almost infectious. Engineers huddled over laptops, mechanics leaned against tool racks with grease-streaked hands, and the faint smell of coffee lingered in the air. It was a world that thrummed with purpose, speed, and precision—qualities that the newcomer sitting at her desk felt slightly out of sync with.
You can do this, she told herself for the hundredth time that day.
Being a social media manager for one of the most prominent teams in Formula 1 was a dream job. Yet, as she stared at the screen, where a half-finished tweet about race day statistics blinked back at her, that dream felt a lot more like a free-fall. She wasn’t just crafting posts about breakfast specials or gym memberships anymore—she was managing the online presence of an entire racing empire.
And, truthfully, she was floundering.
“Morning!”
The cheerful voice made her jump, and she turned to see her colleague, Sophie, leaning over her cubicle wall with a grin. “How’s the newbie settling in?” Sophie asked, raising an eyebrow.
“Uh… good!” she replied quickly, pasting on a smile that she hoped masked her nerves.
Sophie tilted her head, unconvinced. “You’ve been staring at that screen for an hour, and the only thing you’ve posted today is a retweet from Pirelli. Do you need help?”
“No, I’m just—” She paused, biting her lip. “I don’t even know what half these terms mean. DRS, power unit, undercut… it’s like everyone here is speaking a different language.”
Sophie’s face softened. “It is a different language,” she said with a chuckle. “Give it time. It’s only your first week. You’ll get the hang of it. And if you’re still lost, you’ve got plenty of people to ask.”
“Like who?”
“Like me,” Sophie said with a wink. “Or, if you’re feeling brave, you could ask the drivers. Max and Checo are usually good sports about answering questions.”
“Right,” she said, laughing nervously. “Because it’s totally normal to walk up to Max Verstappen and ask him to explain tire degradation.”
“You’d be surprised,” Sophie replied with a grin. “He’s more patient than he looks.”
She didn’t expect to test Sophie’s theory quite so soon. Later that afternoon, while she was setting up her phone to record a behind-the-scenes video in the garage, she heard a familiar voice behind her.
“Need help?”
She turned, almost dropping her phone when she saw Max Verstappen standing there, dressed in his Red Bull team kit and holding a bottle of water. His blue eyes were bright with curiosity, and his expression was disarmingly friendly.
“Uh… no! I mean, yes. Maybe?” she stammered, fumbling with the tripod. “Sorry, I’m still figuring all this out.”
Max chuckled, setting his water down on a nearby workbench. “Don’t worry about it. What are you trying to do?”
“I’m supposed to get some footage of the engineers prepping your car, but I can’t get the angle right, and—” She broke off, feeling heat rise to her cheeks. “It’s my first week. I’m still getting the hang of everything.”
“You’re doing fine,” Max said, his tone reassuring as he stepped closer. “Here, let me see.”
She handed him the phone, watching as he adjusted the tripod with practiced ease. He crouched slightly, angling the camera until it perfectly captured the scene in the garage.
“Like this?” he asked, stepping back to let her check.
She stared at the screen in amazement. “That’s… perfect. How did you do that so quickly?”
“Years of media obligations,” he said with a shrug. “You pick up a thing or two.”
She smiled, feeling some of her nervousness ebb away. “Thanks, Max.”
“No problem,” he replied, picking up his water bottle. “And if you ever need help with anything else—questions, technical stuff, whatever—just ask. It’s better than guessing.”
Max wasn’t kidding. Over the next few weeks, she found herself turning to him more often than she expected, and he answered every question with surprising patience.
“What’s a DRS zone?” she asked one afternoon during a lunch break.
“It’s where we can open the rear wing to go faster,” Max explained, demonstrating with his hands. “But only in certain areas and under certain conditions. You know, to make overtaking easier.”
“And what’s an undercut?” she asked the next day while filming a promo video in the paddock.
Max smirked. “That’s when you pit earlier than the car ahead of you to get fresher tires and gain track position. But timing is everything. If you mess it up, it doesn’t work.”
“Right,” she said, nodding along even though she still felt a bit lost.
Max seemed to notice her confusion because he added, “It’s like beating someone to the front of the line at a concert by taking a shortcut. Make sense?”
“Ahh,” she said, grinning. “That actually helps.”
With Max’s encouragement, her confidence grew. She started experimenting with different content ideas, from quirky Instagram stories to polished YouTube vlogs. Her colleagues noticed the change, offering praise and feedback that bolstered her even further.
But it was Max’s quiet support that made the biggest difference. He never made her feel stupid for asking questions or stumbling over her words, and his humor often turned stressful moments into something lighter.
One evening, as she sat in the media center editing a race weekend highlight reel, Max walked by and paused to watch over her shoulder.
“Not bad,” he said, nodding at the screen.
“‘Not bad’?” she repeated, turning to him with a mock glare.
He grinned. “Okay, fine. It’s great. But you missed the part where I overtook Checo in Turn 3. That was the best move of the race.”
She rolled her eyes, laughing. “I’ll add it to the blooper reel.”
“Bloopers?” he said, pretending to look offended. “That was pure talent.”
She shook her head, unable to suppress her smile. “You’re impossible, Verstappen.”
“And you’re doing a great job,” he said, his tone softening. “Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.”
By the time the season reached its midpoint, she felt like she’d finally found her footing. The fast-paced world of Formula 1 no longer felt overwhelming; instead, it felt exhilarating.
One evening, after a particularly successful social media campaign, she found herself standing on the balcony of the team’s hospitality unit, watching the sun set over the paddock. Max joined her a few minutes later, leaning against the railing with a relaxed smile.
“Long day?” he asked.
“Always,” she replied with a chuckle. “But I think I’m getting the hang of it.”
“I’d say you’re more than getting the hang of it,” Max said. “You’ve been killing it lately. Everyone’s noticed.”
She glanced at him, surprised by the sincerity in his voice. “Really?”
“Really,” he said, meeting her gaze. “And in case you haven’t noticed, you’ve made this job your own. You’ve brought something new to the team. It’s good.”
Her chest swelled with gratitude, and she looked down, trying to hide the blush creeping up her cheeks. “Thanks, Max. For everything. I don’t think I would’ve survived my first month without you.”
He chuckled, reaching out to nudge her shoulder playfully. “Anytime. You’re part of the team now, and we take care of our own. Even if you still ask a million questions.”
She laughed, the sound light and genuine. “Get used to it, Verstappen. I’ve got plenty more where those came from.”
Max smirked, his eyes twinkling with amusement. “Bring it on.”

emotional support boyfriend
oscar piastri
cw: smut, agoraphobia, oscar is a sweet boyfriend, plot, fluff, gentle sex, praise kink, slight angst, depictions of violence, trauma
this bunny runs on comments & reblogs! feed the rabbit!
Tumblr media
you swallowed, "this is silly. i don't need an emotional support boyfriend, my love." oscar was seated beside you at the stairs as he got his sneakers on.
"not a big deal, i'd be sitting on the couch otherwise."
oscar had been really good after the... incident you witnessed only four months prior. you wished that it had happened at a location further away from home, but it was rather only a few blocks from your flat. you had been avoiding it as much as possible, but it was hard. and it still left you shaken.
when you got up from the steps and waited for oscar to do the same you watched him stand up then zip your sweater up to your chin before he kissed you on the lips.
it was simply going to the store, getting a few items for dinner then walking home. ever since the incident, you had taken alternate routes that doubled your time getting there and back, or having oscar do it if he was home. you wanted to avoid the intersection as much as possible because the anxiety you felt was a lot.
it was easier to just avoid it, but your therapist thought that maybe it would be good to try and approach the anxiety more head on. and while you were comfortable with doing it alone. oscar wanted to be there just in case.
the walk started slow, you held onto oscar's hand as the two of you walked down the main road. oscar kept close to you, he was a grounding presence.
oscar chatted with you and you smiled. you held onto him a little tighter when a motorcycle went by. and he simply leaned in to kiss you, continuing talking. you passed by the bus stop without much fanfare, at least your brain felt a little quieter. the anxiety of the event didn't wash over you into a panic.
"here. for a job well done." he said as he slipped a bar of your favourtie chocolate into the basket.
you giggled, "i don't need treats like a dog."
oscar kissed your cheek, "not like that. i'm proud of you." and while it all felt a little silly, you appreciated it. to know that whatever progress you make about your intense anxiety, you weren't going to do it alone.
when you got home, you felt better than other times you were in the area. you didn't feel the throb of dread in the pit of your soul and the anxiety rush up into your chest. while a little shaky when you walked by the bus stop, you managed to pass by it not once, but twice. oscar there the entire time to support you.
"you did so well."
you swallowed, "it was just a walk." you made a face when he kissed along the bridge of your nose, "nothing too serious. wasn't like i had to tend to another victim." the words felt weird on your tongue.
four months ago while walking back home from work, you saw a belligerent drunk man attack another man at a nearby bus stop. the man was hit and bleeding and you tried to tend to the gash in his head while another man who was walking the opposite direction of you tried to talk the drunk man down. the police were called and you were interviewed while oscar heard the sirens and came down the street. you weren't home and he was worried. you were told you did good by everyone and that he would be "perfectly fine". but you were left rattled and going near that intersection made your blood run cold.
oscar kissed your lips, "no need for that, love." he kissed your cheek with his hands on your face lovingly, "you did so good. your therapist will love hearing about this. i'm proud."
you felt something flutter in your chest and you rested up against your boyfriend. you know he worried, he kept his phone on silent while working unless it was a message from you. just in case.
it wasn't till after dinner that you got more cuddly with your boyfriend. the food felt filling and your brain didn't feel rattled. it was a success and you wanted to keep riding that high. and that left you two in your shared bedroom with oscar's lips on you.
his hands up your shirt, he asked, "is this okay?"
you nodded, "perfect. it's amazing. yes, oscar, yes." you then giggled before you put him in for a hot kiss and let his hands explore your body. you felt warm all over as he felt you up. he was a gentle lover, he always had been. you didn't believe there was a bad bone in his body, except maybe in the heat of competition.
but he'd never lay a hand on you unless he had your consent. your enthusiastic consent. sex was meant to be fun so to hear you giggle as he got your shirt off excited him.
"you did amazing today, my love.' he said as he got into your space once more. your chest up against his as he got you onto the bed. soon you were both undressed and you laid there out on the bed under your lovely boyfriend.
his hands careful on your hips as he rubbed up against you. you moaned softly as you could feel his hard cock up against you. your heart hammered in your chest, but not in a way that scared you. but rather you felt excited all over.
you looked up at him and he got between your legs, he rested on his heels and his cock stood at full attention. before he could say anything you spoke, "i want this, oscar. please. i don't want anyone else."
he broke into a smile and said, "well, i can't say no to that."
you shifted your body a little to give him more access to your soft skin. he ran his fingers across you and you shuddered a little bit before he took a hold on his cock to guide it inside you pretty cunt. he shuddered when he felt your wetness across his length.
he started to move slowly, and his words poured like a fountain. and it made you feel hot all over you. he leaned forward and pressed his chest to you.
"you look so good." he said, "i love you."
you felt a little heat in your cheeks as you moved against him. your nails held onto his shoulders as the two of your moved together. you whined, "you don't need to praise me, oscar."
he chuckled and kissed your jaw, "yes i do. i want to praise you." he held onto your hips and moved a little faster. he loved the feeling of you, he also loved spending time with you. being with you was a treat for him and it made him feel hot all over.
the kisses continued, loud and wet in your shared bedroom. he moved against you. his cock felt snug in your pretty cunt, like a perfect fit for the both of you.
"you look beautiful." you giggled as you scratched across his shoulders. you could feel the shudder of want through your body.
he laughed, "no, no. you're beautiful. you're the beautiful one." he kissed the corner of your mouth, "i'm just your boyfriend. you're the real star." he cupped your breasts between his hands for a moment as he moved against him.
you blushed more, "you flirt." you tightened your legs around his waist as he moved against him. the kisses continued as he moved against you.
"only for you." he blushed. you covered your face but oscar quickly took them away and said, "i want to see you." he smiled down at you.
"okay. okay." you giggled.
you would've thought all about the romantic moments with oscar. but the pleasure coursed through your body even heavier as he laid more kisses onto you. his hands played with your chest as he moved against you. and you moved back against him. it was a hot feeling between the two of you, like a wire that connected you.
your cheeks stained with heat as the two of you really rutted against one another. your lips felt tender from all the kisses. oscar gazed at you with love and even cupped your face for a moment. it felt nice to feel his big hands across your face.
oscar would always make sure you were okay. always.
you held onto him and placed wet kisses onto the side of his neck. when you held on tightly, you climaxed. your back arched a little to be closer to him as the pleasure clawed through your body. your eyes squeezed shut a little bit. and your heart pounded in your chest.
"i love you." you said.
"i love you too."
he came soon after and held onto the covers on either side of you, he didn't want to bruise you in his hard grasp. you took him by the face and messily kissed him. which made the driver melt a little at the feeling. he groaned into the kiss as he rocked against you a little more, which made your toes curl.
when he eventually stopped, he broke the kiss and looked at your blissed out. oh, you looked gorgeous. he pulled out of you and got down on the bed beside you. he got a strong arm over you and looked at you. he peppered your forehead and cheeks with kissed. a silent praise as you both tried to come back to earth.
"you did so good." he said when he was able to find the words. he also pulled you up against his bare chest.
you wrapped an arm around him and buried your face into his neck. you felt protected and loved. you were cared for in ways that you couldn't find the words for. it was comforting feeling that made you believe that any progress could be made about all the mental aches and pains.
he kissed you on the lips once more and said, "i love you." <3

[ when you steal a kiss from them ]
featuring: sylus, zayne, xavier, rafayel
Tumblr media
always known to fall asleep during the daylight hours, you decided to be a good girlfriend and allow sylus to get some much needed rest.
but of course, sharing a living space with luke and kieran provided double the challenge for you. throughout the day, it seemed like your main mission involved preventing the twins from making too much noise-
or from blowing up the whole mansion in general.
their laughters and overall abundance of energy was wearing you down, and it got so bad that you decided to set them off on a scavenger hunt you had made up on a whim, just to get some peace and quiet. once they were out of the house and roaming the streets of the n109 zone, you let out a sigh of relief, heading back to your shared bedroom. now in the confines of your sanctuary, you shut the door behind you while letting out a gentle huff.
trailing your gaze towards the bed, you smile upon seeing sylus still resting comfortably in bed. the comforter covered the lower half of his body, and you could feel your heart pounding in response to the sight of his perfectly sculpted chest and how it lay bare for your eyes alone.
it didn’t matter how many years you’ve spent together with sylus. without fail, your abdomen would always erupt with butterflies at the sight of his beauty. as if caught in a trance, you step closer to the sleeping man, heart already racing with anticipation at what you were about to do.
you stand over your lover, admiring the tranquility of his sleeping face when you heed your heart’s desire and lean your face down closer to his, pressing your lips against sylus in a gentle kiss.
“hn, i was wondering when you’d come back to me.”
sylus’s rich voice catches you off guard, and you gasp in response, feeling sylus open his eyes before placing a large hand behind your head, keeping you still before crashing his lips against yours in a searing kiss. the tip of his tongue traces at the border of your lips, and you steadily began to lose all of your senses the moment you open up to him, allowing him to slide his tongue in and get a taste of you.
sleep had long since evaded sylus when he keeps you close to him, taking advantage of your newfound privacy as he quickly morphed your simple kisses into something much more passionate.

zayne had locked himself within his office once more-
and you felt incredibly disappointed in the fact that he was still working despite it being his day off.
however, you did your best to forgive him in such situation, since he was someone who saved lives with his profession.
you just wished there was something you could do to help with easing his stress.
as the hours went by, you look at the clock to see it was already 7pm, with no signs of zayne coming out of his office anytime soon. letting out a sigh, you figured you could help your boyfriend destress by ordering some good takeout for dinner. not in the mood to cook, you figured it was fine to treat yourself to some of your favorite takeaway while sharing it with zayne. with your orders placed and paid for, you hesitantly walk toward his office and give the door a series of knocks.
“it’s unlocked, honey.” zayne’s tired voice was heard coming from behind the door, and you could feel the heat travel up your neck at the sound of his affectionate nickname for you.
with a sheepish grin, you enter his office, your greeting for him settled at the tip of your tongue, yet something stops you. your eyes take in the sight of zayne, dressed comfortably in a grey sweater as his eyes poured over the various patient charts settled on his desk. his reading glasses remained settled against the tip of his nose, and his hair appeared messier than usual, like he had been running his hands through them throughout the day.
a compulsion was felt coursing through your veins, your heart and mind both telling you that you needed to kiss him at this very moment. for some reason, zayne looked incredibly alluring to you, and you found yourself falling in love with him all over again.
you take gentle strides toward zayne, calling out his name while in an almost trancelike state. zayne meets your gaze and acknowledges you-
only to let out a gasp when you suddenly crash your lips against his. the shock he felt lasts for a mere second before he responds, moving his lips slowly as he slots his lips against yours, kissing you back with just as much passion.
when the need for air proved to be too much, you were the first to pull away from him, feeling embarrassed when zayne gives you a knowing smile. “i apologize, had i known you had missed me so much, i would have spent more time with you.”
you could only manage a series of stutters in response to his sweet words, earning a sweet chuckle from him. grasping at your hand, he places a lingering kiss at the back of them, “forgive me?”
you shake your head, getting rid of your nervousness and smile, feeling zayne place you on his lap. being closer to him now, you allowed your hands the pleasure of running through his soft strands of hair, “of course i forgive you. i always do because you’re a good man who saves lives for a living.”
a rich chuckle escapes from zayne as he takes off his glasses, leaning into you with another smile on his face, “i suppose you do wish to be spoiled after all.”
and when zayne suddenly surges forward, capturing your lips in another passionate kiss, you allowed the rest of the world to melt away-
not even caring that your dinner had already arrived, since all you could taste and feel was zayne.

your losing streak with kitty cards would be your tragic end-
you were certain of it as xavier seemed to have all the luck on his side.
from getting the optimal amount of kitty cards and their matching cups, his score kept climbing higher and higher-
leaving you sobbing in the dust as you struggled to keep up.
even with the various power ups you tried to use to help with lowering his winnings, none of them seemed to be enough.
currently, you were on your last round of kitty cards with xavier, leaving you pouting at your hunter boyfriend as he kept giggling sweetly at you, holding his cards above his lips to help with hiding his smile in hopes of easing the blow of your incoming loss.
“hehe, s-sorry, but your pouting face is so cute… you’re so adorable.” xavier tells you, clearly enjoying his winnings so far-
and admittedly, you felt the tiniest bit petty-
actively ignoring how much your heart was racing at the sight of xavier’s smiling face.
yet xavier seemed to bask in your annoyance, still chuckling lightly as he waited for you to complete your turn. letting out a grumble of his name, you cross both arms across your chest and tell him, “wipe that grin off your face, it’s not funny that you’re so lucky right now…!”
yet your words simply make xavier chuckle even more at you, no longer using his cards to hide his smile as he laughed at you. you let out a huff, wishing to wipe that cute smile off his face when you lean across the table to press an unexpected kiss against xavier’s lips.
your boyfriend lets out a surprised sound that was a mix between a gasp and a grunt, making you smile against his lips while deepening the kiss, not stopping until you were certain that xavier would be left speechless. knowing that you had successfully swallowed the rest of his laughter, you pull away from him with an almost smug expression on your face.
now, it was your turn to giggle at xavier, watching as his cheeks take on a rosier hue, actively blushing as he kept touching at his lips. finally registering the sounds of your laughter, xavier tosses aside his cards and allows the colored teacups to fall to the ground the moment he lunges at you, with his arms wrapped around your waist as he pulled you closer to him.
“no fair… you cheated.” it was xavier’s turn to pout when he presses you closer to him.
feeling playful, you stick your tongue out at him-
only for xavier to respond by leaning down to kiss you once more, capturing your lips in a passionate kiss that had you seeing stars by the end of it all.
Tumblr media
there was something achingly beautiful when it came to witnessing rafayel complete a painting he had been working on for nearly weeks on end.
and you were lucky enough to be the closest to him when these moments struck-
where you allowed yourself to bask in the beauty of rafayel’s radiant gaze, his eyes looking over the completed canvas with a sense of noticeable pride coursing through his veins.
there also seemed to be a glowing aura that surrounds him, making him appear so wonderful and oh so breathtaking that your heart would ache in response to witnessing something so ethereal.
filled with love for him, you step into his studio, calling out rafayel’s name while he was in the midst of basking in his completed work. he hums and faces you, giving you a beaming smile while welcoming you with arms wide open, “hey princess-“
you stand closer to him, cutting him off when you leaned up against him before pressing a loving kiss against his lips. he stiffens momentarily in surprise, yet still, you continued to kiss him, filled with an almost possessive desire to claim him as yours alone.
yet instead of pushing you away-
rafayel responds beautifully to you, kissing you back while wrapping both of his arms around your waist to help with bringing you closer to him. a giggle was felt bubbling within your throat when you break off the kiss first.
“hey, why’d you pull away so fast?” rafayel’s pouting face earns yet another giggle from you, making you lean up to press a kiss against his nose. “truly, i don’t know what came over me. i just wanted to show you how proud i am of you… and… let you know how beautiful you are each time you finish a project you’re so passionate about.”
rafayel’s eyes light up with unbidden joy upon hearing your words, “oh now you’re just begging to be smothered in kisses! you better prepare yourself princess.”
the sight of your grinning face makes your lemurian lover crush your body against his, allowing him to kiss at your features, practically littering your face with his playful kisses as your laughter echoes throughout the studio.

Shouldn't Be Here
Take a role of someone who went where they shouldn't and has to escape the Danger.
Every character has:
abilities: Physique, Mind, and Courage - distribute 5 points among them,
a set of 5 proficiencies,
5 Survival Dice (SD), which represent the character's ability to keep going (use d6).
SD can be lost due failing at tests and can't be regained in any way.
Loss of all SD means the character is LOST (unplayable).
GAME:
Part 1 - How We Got Here? Describe the environment. Discuss what got you into the situation.
Part 2 - What Went Wrong? What is the danger as you understand it now? Talk about the signs about the Danger the characters ignored before.
Part 3 - Survive! Play out the scenario and escape the Danger!
Part 4 - Conclusion. Who survived and how it affected them? What about the Danger?
TEST:
Decide on the used ability and roll as many of your SD as its value. Their sum +1 for each applicable proficiency must be no less than the threshold (3 - easy, 7 - normal, 11 - hard).
Extra dice:
sacrifice +1 from a proficiency to better apply a tool.
sacrifice any unrolled SD (also after the roll) - those are always LOST.
 ⁕ ⁕
As it's typical for me, it's done at the eleventh hour with little time to spare. This was an interesting task and I really needed something to motivate me try to design an RPG again. The part of removing ideas so the description could fit within 200 words was both painful and fun!
In the end I figured it's better to simplify mechanics rather than trying to sacrifice the suggested structure. I think it's fun to have a framework on survival/escape scenario that is flexible.
I deliberately didn't mention matter of GM or number of players, because in the end it felt this is not that important here. Want to play with a GM? Go for it! You feel it can be fun as an exercise to practice storytelling alone or with friends? Go for it too! I admit I winged the maths here, which bugs me a bit, but the provided values should work more-or-less (or at least work as a guidance).
As for the formal matter: I'm perfectly fine with this submission being archived. I'm also perfectly fine with sharing and remixing it (just be clear about it).
200 Word RPGs 2024
Each November, some people try to write a novel. Others would prefer to do as little writing as possible. For those who wish to challenge their ability to not write, we offer this alternative: producing a complete, playable roleplaying game in two hundred words or fewer.
This is the submission thread for the 2024 event, running from November 1st, 2024 through November 30th, 2024. Submission guidelines can be found in this blog's pinned post, here.

Tumblr media
It was obvious your team was winning when it came down to the basics of fundamentals—the defense was thankfully taken care of by Sethos, who had just replaced Xiangling as a libero since she, unfortunately, had decided to opt out playing in the tournament. Sethos was great, though. Being an all rounder, he is quite talented with his ball control.
But when it came to the offense, you were certainly the star when it came to your team's attacks.
You call for the set, and steadily go a few steps to the back of the attacking line. Aether gives the ball smoothly, you step forward — right, left, right — then jumping, quickly swinging your arm towards the ball as you hit the line perfectly. The referee calls the whistle before you land, and the line judge points the flag down as they face the right end of your opponent's court. A seamless play.
You got distracted looking at the scoreboard, 23-22, it was a close match and all your team needed was to win this set before you already won. As you landed from your jump, you lost balance. Eventually rolling over your left ankle, and falling to the ground.
Your teammates checked up on you, surrounding you and helping you sit up before the medic came. The match got paused as they helped you ease the pain with an ice pack, and you were brought to the benches. There, several of the other players did their best to reassure you after your unlucky landing. You don’t feel too beat up about it, you already saw this coming when you checked the scoreboard before ensuring your safety when landing.
You had only hoped Kinich didn’t see that.
Tumblr media
He turns the tv on and gives you the remote, two plates of stir fry noodles on the coffee table and a glass of cold water. Kinich sat right in front of you, trying to set up a comfortable place you can rest in as you recover.
“Sigewinne said it was nothing serious, I’m fine.” You repeated for… maybe the 6th time this evening. All that gave you was a displeased look from your boyfriend, and he raised the ice pack away.
“I suppose I shouldn’t be paying extra attention to you then?”
“Wait—I was kidding. That was a joke,”
“Oh, yeah. I’m sure it was.”
Kinich knew what it felt like having an injury, one during the season at that. It’s devastating—that might be too dramatic. It was just sad knowing you wouldn’t be able to compete until you fully heal. Knowing your coach, Wriothesley, and Beidou, they certainly wouldn’t allow you to play until you got the go sign from your doctor. A very much so sure, go sign.
So, until you got to go on court again, his job was to take care of you.
“Wait one moment. Stay here,” he said before disappearing into the bedroom. He comes back with a few pillows and the world's comfiest comforter (it was his blanket.)
He knew you felt the least bit sad because of this. No matter how minor the injury was, this was the first time you were competing in a mixed tournament, and the first time the boys and girls team from different schools competed for a regional game. It was true you got to play with them multiple times already — your team captains had easily gotten close with each other, so naturally, tune up games or practices with them were common.
Wriothesley cared for his team, so did Beidou, and so did your coach. It was difficult trying to convince everyone you were fine when you already struggled walking to the benches. That’s not including the exhaustion you felt mentally after you sat down—immediately curling up and letting a few tears go was not a good image for you. But your teammates were supportive, they also cared.
Maybe it was a little selfish demanding your coach to bring you back in court, but you were swayed by the overwhelming sense of guilt. That you couldn't play properly for the team, that your opponent ended up getting the point, and that you injured yourself because you got distracted.
“I mean, in the end, you tried your best.” He put the ice bag back on the table once he had noticed it might be getting too cold for you. “That’s what matters most, right?”
Kinich hands you the glass of water. “And you shouldn’t feel that beat up about it. They all said you need to rest so you could recover faster, just do as they say.”
You paused for a moment, he took the glass from you as you finished drinking, and handed you the plate full of food. Then, the boy went to sit next to you as you laid on the couch. He shuffled around trying to find a proper position, and your legs ended up on top of his lap.
“This might just be one of the most disappointing games I’ve ever done.”
He brings a hand to your knee, trying to reassure you by drawing figures across your skin.
“You’ve done worse,” and you throw a part of the blanket towards him.
You take a fork full of the noodles—savory and sweet, exactly what you needed after the game. Kinich knew you always had a craving for something sweet, especially after training, when you’re tired. You two end up in a convenience store buying froyo at some point while you eat in the back of the car, just talking about what had happened.
“They all care about you. I care about you.” He whispers.
Kinich stretched a little to reach you, pressing his lips to your forehead in a kiss. One hand holding yours as you place the plate on the table again. Thankfully this couch fits the both of you, otherwise you wouldn’t be basking in the feeling of his arms slowly snaking up your sides, enveloping you in a warm hug.
“I’ll clean up your injuries for you, I’ll come to your games, I’ll sit here in silence until god knows when—I’ll do anything for you, because I love you. And I will continue to.”
He holds your hand again, your left this time, and you notice a familiar shine through your fingers. The promise ring he gave you way back when the two of you had your first anniversary with your relationship just two years ago with your favorite color as the gem.
“So please, rest.”
Tumblr media

5 Times Sarah Cameron Used You to Change Rafe's Mind
Tumblr media
The Charity Auction
Rafe lounged on the couch, lazily flipping through the flat screen's channels. He wasn't in the mood for Sarah's antics, but the sound of her heels clicking on the hardwood floors made him glance up.
"Don't forget, the charity auction is tomorrow," Sarah said, casually tying her hair back as she rifled through a drawer.
"Not going"
"You're unbelievable," Sarah shot back, slamming the drawer shut. "Dad donated half the prizes, and people are expecting us. Do you really want to deal with him if we don't show?"
Rafe scoffed "Since when do you care about what Dad thinks?"
"I don't. But the auction's important to people. Like... y'know who."
Rafe didn't need her to clarify. He could picture you now—probably making centrepieces out of seashells or whatever it was kooks like you cared about. He rolled his eyes, "Still not going."
Sarah smirked. "Right. Because you hate being in a room where people are actually impressed by you for once." She snapped, turning on her heel and starts to leave.
He threw the remote onto the couch with a groan "Fine. but if it's boring then I'm out."
Tumblr media
The next evening. Rafe walked into the auction wearing a blazer that screamed "I don't care," through his hair that was carefully tousled. His eyes hovered over the luxurious room, until they had found you.
You were at the front of the room, adjusting a floral arrangement on a table, your dress soft and flowing, catching the light with every move. When you turend and saw him, your focused face turned into a surprised smile.
"Rafe? I didn't think I would see you here."
"Yeah, well...." He shrugged, slipping hsi hands into his pockets, "Sarah dragged me."
Your smiled softened, your voice quieter now. "Well, I'm glad you came. It's nice having someone I know here."
Rafe felt his chest tighten unexpectedly, the kind of feeling he'd never admit. "You seem busy." He said, motioning to the bustling room.
"I am, but..." You stepped closer, the warmth of your perfume wrapping around him "It's good busy. It's for a good cause."
He nodded, unable to look away from your glowing expression. "Yeah, looks good."
Tumblr media
2. The Bonfire
“Don’t be lame, Rafe,” Sarah called from the doorway, jingling her car keys.
“Not going.” He didn’t even look up from his phone.
“Right,” Sarah said, leaning against the doorframe. “Because sitting alone here and staring at your phone all night is such a better time.”
“It is when I don’t have to deal with John B and his idiot friends.”
Sarah shrugged. “Suit yourself. I’m just saying it’s not a bad crowd. You know, people who don’t get on your nerves.” She paused, giving him a pointed look. “Like her.”
Rafe’s jaw tightened, but he didn’t respond.
“She’s been talking about it all week. She even made s’mores kits,” Sarah added with a sly grin. “But whatever. Have fun being miserable.”
He sighed, setting his phone down with exaggerated annoyance. “I’m only going because I’m bored. Don’t expect me to stay long.”
Tumblr media
The fire crackled against the dark sky, and Rafe stayed on the outskirts, leaning against a tree with his arms crossed. He scanned the crowd until his eyes landed on you. You were crouched by the fire, your laughter mingling with the sparks as you tried to keep a marshmallow from catching fire.
When you caught him watching, you smiled and waved. “Come sit!”
“I’m good here,” he called back, though his feet were already moving toward you.
“Afraid of s’mores?” you teased, holding out a perfectly roasted marshmallow.
He smirked, taking it from you. “You’re lucky this one’s decent.
“Lucky?” you laughed. “I’m an expert.”
He shook his head but couldn’t help the small smile tugging at his lips. The firelight danced in your eyes, and for the first time that night, he didn’t mind being there.
Tumblr media
3. The Surf Competition
Rafe leaned back in his chair, his feet propped on the porch railing as Sarah walked past with a beach bag slung over her shoulder.
“You’re not going to the surf competition?” she asked, not breaking stride.
“Since when do I go to those things?” he shot back, his sunglasses hiding his glare.
“Since never,” Sarah replied. “But it’s kind of a big deal. The whole island’s going. It’s not like you’ve got anything better to do.”
“Pass.”
Sarah stopped, looking over her shoulder. “You know, she’s competing.”
Rafe’s hand paused mid-reach for his drink. “And?”
“And nothing,” Sarah said, turning away. “But she’s been practicing for weeks, and she’s actually good. But hey, stay here. I’m sure your chair needs you.”
Rafe grumbled under his breath, grabbing his keys. “Whatever.”
Tumblr media
The beach was packed, the crowd buzzing with excitement. Rafe kept to the back, his arms crossed as he scanned the waves. When he spotted you paddling out, your determination written in every stroke, he couldn’t look away.
You caught a wave, carving effortlessly down its face, your smile radiant as you glided toward the shore. The crowd erupted in cheers, but Rafe barely noticed. He was too busy watching you, the way you seemed to light up in the sunlight.
Afterward, you spotted him leaning against a railing. “Rafe! You came?”
He shrugged, his expression neutral. “Didn’t have anything else going on.”
Your smile widened. “Well, thanks. It means a lot.”
He didn’t say anything, but the warmth in your voice stayed with him long after the competition ended.
Tumblr media
4. The Family Dinner
“You’re coming to dinner,” Sarah said as she walked into the living room.
Rafe didn’t even glance up. “No, I’m not.”
“It’s just dinner, Rafe. Dad’s grilling, and—”
“And what? It’s going to be a train wreck like usual?”
Sarah sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose. “Fine. Stay here. I just thought you’d want to keep her company while the rest of us deal with Dad’s speeches.”
Rafe looked up, his brow furrowing. “She’s going?”
“She’s coming with her parents. You know how Dad is—he invited everyone with a trust fund.”
Rafe muttered something under his breath before standing. “Guess I’ll go. Someone has to keep you in check.”
Tumblr media
At the dinner, Rafe kept his distance at first, leaning against a tree with a drink in hand. But when he saw you standing by yourself near the fire pit, your dress catching the glow of the flames, he found himself walking over.
“Didn’t think this was your kind of thing,” he said, his voice casual.
You turned, your face lighting up. “Rafe! I didn’t see you earlier.”
“Yeah, well… figured I’d make an appearance.”
You smiled softly, and for the rest of the night, Rafe found himself by your side, your laughter making the night more bearable than he’d ever admit.

5. The Lake Day
“Let’s go,” Sarah said, throwing a towel at Rafe’s head.
He caught it with a scowl. “Go where?”
“The lake. Everyone’s going.”
“Pass.”
“Typical.” Sarah rolled her eyes. “She’s coming too, but I guess that’s not enough of a reason for you to leave your cave.”
Rafe frowned, trying to mask his interest. “She’s going?”
Sarah didn’t answer, just smirked as she walked out the door.
Tumblr media
By the lake, Rafe spotted you sitting on the dock, your feet dangling in the water. The sunlight danced across the waves, catching in your hair and making you look almost otherworldly.
He walked over, sitting down next to you without a word.
“Hey,” you said, smiling at him. “Didn’t expect to see you here.”
“Sarah dragged me,” he lied, glancing out at the water.
You bumped his shoulder lightly. “Well, I’m glad you came.”
Rafe felt the tension in his chest ease, the warmth of your presence making the lake day more tolerable than he’d thought possible.

never a footballer
vivianne miedema x reader
summary: you told yourself that you would never date a footballer
Tumblr media
you vowed to never date a footballer.
the memory of elisa always lingers when someone brings up relationships in football. back when you played for wolfsburg, you thought you had it all—a solid career, a supportive team, and a relationship with someone who understood your life.
the reality of being with elisa had been far from perfect. the constant arguments, the exhausting long-distance flights to paris just to spend a day together, only to fight over something trivial. you’d promised yourself after that breakup that you would never mix your personal life with the professional one again.
footballers were off-limits.
you were doing just fine sticking to that promise.
that is, until vivianne came to manchester city.
she arrived during the transfer window, making the switch from arsenal, and you knew her from the pitch—vivianne miedema, one of the best forwards in the world. you’d marked her countless times when you faced arsenal.
her skill, her strength, her composure—everything about her had been a challenge to contain. but off the pitch, you’d never paid her much attention. now, here she was, training alongside you.
vivianne had an undeniable presence, one that made you notice her even when you didn’t want to. four inches taller than you, with striking features and an aura that made it hard to look away. you hated how easily your eyes would drift to her during training sessions, especially when she had her hair pulled back, focused, intense. it was distracting, and you didn’t need distractions.
one day, during training, you crouched down to tie your laces, stealing a glance at vivianne across the pitch. she was standing near the goal, her long legs stretching as she practiced shots. you didn’t realize you’d been biting your lip until jill crouched beside you, smirking.
“what is that?” she whispered, nudging your arm.
“what iss what?” you replied quickly, fumbling with the knot in your laces.
jill gave you a knowing look. “don’t play dumb. i saw you looking at viv. with the lip bite, no less.”
“you’re imagining things,” you muttered, standing up and dusting your hands off.
“sure, i am,” jill teased, following you as you jogged back into position.
“just know, i’m onto you.”
you ignored her, brushing off the comment as nothing. deep down, you hated that jill had caught you in a moment of weakness. because that’s all it was, you told yourself—a fleeting moment of attraction. nothing more.
a week later, mary cornered you in the locker room.
“so, how’d the date with penelope go?” she asked, sitting down beside you on the bench.
penelope, a manchester lawyer who’s friends with mary and bunny.
you sighed, pulling your hoodie over your head.
“it was okay, but its clear that there won’t be a second one. she’s nice, mary, but it’s just not there.”
mary frowned.
“not even a second date?”
“no,” you said firmly, shaking your head.
“nothing happened, and nothing will.”
as you spoke, you noticed vivianne nearby, tying her boots. her expression was unreadable, but there was something in her eyes as she glanced in your direction.
you couldn’t tell if she was amused or curious. either way, it made you nervous.
then came the game against chelsea—a match that could put manchester city at the top of the league table. it was a massive game where your efforts could push manchester to the top.
four minutes in, you found yourself with the ball near the halfway line. the chelsea defense was pressing high, and you saw the goalkeeper off her line. instinct took over, and you struck the ball with everything you had. it soared through the air, arching perfectly before dipping into the back of the net.
the stadium erupted, and for a moment, you couldn’t believe it. you threw your hands up in disbelief, running toward the sideline. before you could process what was happening, vivianne was there, wrapping her arms around you from behind.
“that was fucking insane!” she said, her voice close to your ear.
your breath hitched as you felt her hands on your waist, her grip firm but gentle. the rest of the team swarmed around you, pulling you into a celebratory huddle, but all you could think about was the way vivianne’s touch lingered just a second longer than necessary.
despite the early goal, the game didn’t go as planned. chelsea fought back hard, scoring three unanswered goals by the final whistle. the loss stung, especially with how much was on the line.
back in the locker room, the mood was somber. you sat on the bench, your head in your hands, replaying every mistake in your mind.
“you okay?” a familiar voice asked.
you looked up to see vivianne standing in front of you, her expression soft.
“no, not really,” you admitted with a weak laugh, trying to mask your frustration.
vivianne sat down beside you, her knee brushing against yours.
“you played well. that goal was something I couldn't even have scored. it’s not your fault we lost.”
you shook your head, staring at the floor.
“it doesn’t matter. we needed to win, and we didn’t. i feel like i let everyone down.”
vivianne tilted her head, studying you.
“you know, it’s okay to feel like that. but you’re not responsible for the whole team.”
her words were kind, but it was the way she said them—calm, confident, like she truly understood—that made your chest tighten. you looked at her, and for the first time, you noticed how her eyes softened when she smiled.
“thanks,” you said quietly, feeling a blush creep up your neck.
she leaned back, resting her hands on the bench.
“if it helps, i think you’re one of the best defenders i’ve played with. and that’s coming from someone who’s played against a lot of good ones.”
you laughed softly, the compliment catching you off guard.
“you don’t have to say that.”
“i’m not just saying it,” vivianne replied, her tone sincere. “i mean it.”
the conversation felt easy, natural, like you’d known her for longer than just a few months. but as much as you enjoyed talking to her, there was a part of you that couldn’t ignore the warning signs. the promise you’d made to yourself echoed in the back of your mind—never date a footballer.
and yet, as vivianne stood up and gave you one last reassuring smile before leaving the locker room, you couldn’t help but question that thought.
however, you weren’t expecting the change in routine eiher.
training had always been predictable—tough drills, friendly banter, and the same partnerships. bunny was your go-to partner for most exercises, a pairing that worked well because of your chemistry on and off the pitch.
so, when vivianne approached bunny during warm-ups and asked if they could switch, you were caught off guard.
bunny raised an eyebrow, looking between you and vivianne. “you want to pair with her?” she asked, her tone more amused than surprised.
vivianne nodded, her expression calm but determined. “if you don’t mind.”
bunny glanced your way, grinning.
“nah, it’s fine. jill and i will dominate anyway.”
you blinked, unsure what to say as vivianne jogged over to you.
“guess we’re partners today,” she said casually, as if this was normal.
“uh, yeah,” you managed, adjusting your socks to cover the flush creeping up your neck.
vivianne’s presence beside you felt different—focused yet playful, with a subtle tension you couldn’t quite place. during the 2v2 drills, her skill and vision were undeniable. she found you with perfectly timed passes, and you worked seamlessly to outplay the other pairs.
by the end of the session, you’d won the mini-tournament, earning a round of applause from the team.
as you walked toward the locker room, still buzzing from the morning’s success, vivianne jogged up beside you.
“you were amazing,” she said, her voice light but genuine.
“you’re not so bad yourself,” you replied, smirking.
she laughed, the sound warm and melodic. “listen, there’s this italian place down the street. want to grab lunch?”
you hesitated, assuming it was a team outing.
“sure, sounds good. is everyone going?”
vivianne shook her head. “just us.”
the simplicity of her words caught you off guard. you blinked, trying to hide your surprise.
“oh. okay, yeah, let me grab my stuff.”
twenty minutes later, you found yourself sitting across from vivianne in a cozy italian restaurant, the scent of garlic and fresh herbs filling the air. the setting was intimate, far more personal than you’d anticipated.
vivianne was relaxed, her elbows resting on the table as she scanned the menu.
“they do a great spaghetti carbonara here,” she said, glancing up at you.
you nodded, suddenly hyper-aware of how shy you felt under her gaze.
“i’ll try that, then.”
the conversation started easy—training highlights, upcoming matches, favorite foods. vivianne had a natural charm that made you forget your nerves, her smile disarming and her laugh infectious.
after a while, the dynamic shifted. vivianne leaned back in her chair, her tone turning playful.
“so, bunny mentioned you went on a date recently. with a lawyer, right?”
you blinked, startled by the sudden turn.
“yeah, but it didn’t work out.”
vivianne tilted her head, her lips curving into a teasing smile.
“so, no lawyer girlfriend waiting in the wings?”
you laughed, shaking your head.
“nope. no girlfriend, no nothing. it’s been a few years since my last relationship.”
vivianne’s expression softened, her curiosity genuine. “what happened, if you don’t mind me asking?”
you hesitated, then sighed.
“i was with elisa, elisa from psg. we were long-distance for most of it since i was still at wolfsburg, and it just… didn’t work. we argued a lot, and balancing our careers made everything harder.”
vivianne nodded slowly, her gaze steady.
“i get that. things with beth ended not long before i found out i was leaving arsenal. it wasn’t easy.”
you reached across the table, squeezing her hand instinctively.
“i’m sorry. breakups suck.”
vivianne smiled faintly, her thumb brushing against your fingers.
“they do. but sometimes they make room for better things.”
your heart skipped at the subtle implication in her words, and you pulled your hand back, suddenly flustered.
things progressed slowly after that lunch, though not without hesitation on your part. vivianne’s flirtations became more apparent—small compliments during training, lingering smiles, a touch on your lower back that lasted a second too long.
part of you enjoyed the attention, but another part was terrified. you’d promised yourself never to date another footballer, and yet here you were, drawn to vivianne like a moth to a flame.
it reached a tipping point one evening when you found yourself overthinking everything. sitting on your couch, surrounded by the flowers vivianne had sent over the past few weeks—bright arrangements that made your apartment feel warmer—you decided to seek advice.
jill and kerstin, vivianne’s dutch teammates and your friends, were the first people that came to mind. you texted them to meet for coffee the next morning, and they agreed without hesitation.
“so,” jill said, leaning forward with a mischievous grin as you sat down.
“what’s this about?”
kerstin smirked, already sensing where the conversation was headed.
you fidgeted with your cup, struggling to find the words.
“it’s about viv.”
jill’s eyes lit up.
“i knew it! go on.”
“i don’t know if i should… go through with it,” you admitted, staring at the steam rising from your coffee.
“she’s amazing, but she’s a footballer. after what happened with elisa, i don’t want to make the same mistake.”
kerstin leaned back, her expression thoughtful.
“vivianne isn’t elisa. besides, you’re on the same football team as viv so there is no distance. she’s one of the most thoughtful people i’ve ever met.”
jill nodded enthusiastically.
“seriously, she worships the ground you walk on. she talks about you all the time when you’re not around.”
you blinked, surprised.
“she does? the same way you talk about jana?”
“oh, shut up! but yeah.. constantly,” jill said, laughing before grinning softly.
“and don’t even get me started on the flowers.”
“wait, you know about that?” you flared your eyebrows.
“yeah, viv told the whole team about it!”
kerstin smiled knowingly.
“she’s smitten, y/n. if you’re even considering it, i think you should give her a chance.”
their words stuck with you as you headed home. maybe they were right. maybe vivianne was different.
that same evening, vivianne invited you to dinner, something casual at a small bistro she liked. you dressed simply but thoughtfully, your nerves buzzing as you arrived. vivianne was already there, standing near the entrance with her hands in her pockets.
“hey,” she greeted, her smile lighting up the dimly lit street.
“hey,” you replied, feeling the familiar warmth in her presence.
dinner was perfect—easy conversation, laughter, and a growing sense of closeness that made your chest ache in the best way. as the evening wound down, vivianne leaned forward, her expression more serious than before.
“can i ask you something?” she began, her voice soft.
you nodded, your heart pounding. the question was inevitable at this stage.
“would you… want to be my girlfriend?” she asked, her gaze steady but nervous.
you froze for a moment, the question hanging in the air. then, as a smile spread across your face, you leaned in, closing the distance between you.
your lips met hers softly, the kiss tentative at first but quickly deepening as you felt her hand cup your cheek. when you pulled back, your cheeks were flushed, but you couldn’t stop smiling.
“yes,” you said, your voice barely above a whisper.
vivianne’s grin was brighter than you’d ever seen, and she leaned in to kiss you again. something that felt undeniably right for someone who thought this would never happen again.

Cursed Tea Party

A/N: I don't remember when I wrote this or why but I did. And here it is for you all. A bit more dark than usual.
Tumblr media
There was something wrong with you. You could tell ever since you left the tea party. Actually before then. It was the reason you left, you couldn't stand being there anymore, with your head spinning, body getting so hot you had to take off your uniform jacket and loosen up your bowtie to make breathing easier. It didn't help. Maybe a cold shower would do, if not, maybe one of the toys you had hidden away in your closet.
"Are you sure you're feeling alright? I could escort you back if you're sick." Riddle was the first one to notice how bad you were looking. It was his party so naturally he wanted to keep an eye on all the attendees.
"No, no!" The moment his voice reached your ears the throbbing and heat became nearly too much to handle. You had an urge to push him down, kiss him, tell him about every sinful fantasy you've ever had and beg for him to be the to fulfill them. "I swear I'm alright, I think I may have caught something. But I can make it back on my own."
None of the boys seemed to happy about that. You promised you'd call one of them when you're in your room and let them know you're fine. That was an hour ago. How could you get so lost in the labyrinth? Riddle didn't change it, as far as you knew. Every turn seemed to lead nowhere. Left, right, going back, nothing worked. You were simply lost. Lost and so painfully horny.
"Oh my, are you still here?" When did Riddle get behind you? Was he here to help you? "I thought I sensed someone here. What's the matter? Are you lost?" He walked up to you with the grace of a ruler, his crown perfectly in place, staff twirled in his hand and a very amused smile on his lips. So fucking sexy. "You're making a puddle. Hm, perhaps I put in a little too much." He frowned for a moment but then shrugged it off, like it didn't seem like vital information.
"Too much? What do you-" He took your hand in his, his touch and lips so hot they hurt your skin. It was nothing compared to the vines and thorns that crept up behind you and bound you up against the labyrinth wall. "Riddle? What's going on? What are you doing? Let me go!"
"Unfortunately I can't do that, my sweet rose. What you consumed in your tea was a very powerful aphrodisiac. I should have considered the dosage more carefully. I'm sorry for putting you through that, but it's alright, I'm here to help you now. I'll make it all better." His little chuckle sent a shiver down your spine, and not the nice kind. Your mind was torn, run or ask him to help?
Help? He just admitted he was the reason this was happening! But he was also the one offering to help. No, he was the one in the wrong here!
While you had your inner turmoil you didn't notice him undoing his pants and starting to stroke his cock, "I took some too you see. You're not alone, you'll never be alone again with me around. I'll take care of you, I'll be the best boyfriend you've ever had." Another sinister laugh left his mouth, his eyes blown wide, the crown now slightly on its side, "I've been waiting for this." Riddle used the top of his staff to spread your legs and move your panties to the side. The cold ruby pressed against your aching clit, the sound that left your body a cross between a moan and a pained whine. "Hurts right? I'll make you better love, I'll make it all better."
His cock came as sweet relief to your empty pussy, "Riddle..." You could barely think about anything, everything felt like it was too much, but his cock... it was perfect and just what you needed.
"Did you just come?" Riddle looked so happy with himself, his hips barely moving while he waited for your pussy to stop fluttering around his length. "I just put it in. You must have been suffering without my cock."
"I didn't. I didn't come." It was shameful to admit otherwise. This wasn't what you wanted to happen, how you wanted it to happen. "Not like this." You turned your face from him but your mouth still moaned when he thrust into you, "Don't... please stop moving... it's too much for me." Riddle never listened to anyone, you weren't about to change the King's mind either.
"I love you, I love dearest. Don't you see? I love you so much. After I saw you on my first party I had to get close to you, but you always hung around everyone else. You wouldn't even sit next to me!" You heard him yell before, a lot in fact, this was a different tone, broken, desperate, "Please understand. Understand how much I love you, I'm helping you realize it. Please."
What should have sounded like the unhinged ramblings of a madman wormed their way into your heard, warped your mind, made you finally look at him.
"Finally. You're looking, you're looking at me! Look down here too! See how well your pussy takes my cock? It's greedy! It wants this! You want this! You want me as much as I want you! Don't you?! Don't you, my beautiful rose?!" The warmth at the pit of your stomach returned at full force, the loud, crazy sound of his voice and the look in his eyes, burning lust and devotion reflecting your flushed face with such clarity, as well as how clouded your mind had become.
"I do love you." Riddle's face lit up with glee, the words freeing you of doubt that you weren't sure why it was there in the first place. Riddle was helping you, who are you to refuse his help? "I love you." You chuckled, "I've loved you for so long." Another laugher, a little bit louder, "Riddle."
Your back arched as far as it was able, stars dancing in front of your eyes, pussy twitching around Riddle's hard cock. "You're so tight! I'll make this one better for you! I'll make your cunt feel so good, let me fill it up." Your constant stream of pleas was only broken when you felt it, his cock emptying inside your, ropes of it painting your sensitive inner walls.
When he leaned against you to catch his breath you'd noticed the tight pressure around your wrists release. Now you were free to hold him, and he was free to hold you, now that you were fully complaint.
"Let's take you back to my castle. After today I think we should start moving your things there. And maybe inform the Principle that you'll be doing online classes only. I don't want anyone else laying their eyes or hands on you." Riddle gathered you in his arms, your body fully limp against him, pussy still pulsing with need around his cock, "There, there. You'll get more, don't you worry." He pressed a kiss to your lips, sealing his promise. The two of you began your way back through the maze, Riddle's crown forgotten where you'd just been.

🌊 At first, it started as an experiment, an act he had grown interested in. Something to keep you happy while in his care, and gauge how these types of things work; how they make you feel, how they make you smell, how they make you act. And then it became something to pass time, something he grew addicted to; the sounds that fall from your mouth, the way you grasp onto him and plead for him.
🌊 He grows addicted to the way you act, the way you writhe in the restrains. Indulge him in being a pretty little thing tied up, he’ll indulge you.
🌊 He loves the idea of pushing you to your limits, not to break you, but to see how much you trust him to bring you back from the edge. The subtle interplay between your resistance and surrender is a game he never tires of.
🌊 He’s intrigued by how you behave when stripped of defenses, both physically and emotionally. What does your body say when you’re too overwhelmed to think?
🌊 Eventually, he wants something new. He’s interested in the act of sex- but how do you, yourself get off without him? He wants to see every part, every thing, every sound, every twitch of your eye or your leg until he has enough to finally give you what you want.
🌊 His ego inflates like a balloon- just because he didn’t understand his own attraction, didn’t mean he didn’t know the way your eyes look over his body. He gives you all of him, because he knows you like it, all in return for all of you; your heart, your body, your soul. The idea of someone else even attempting to “understand” you in the way he does is laughable- and intolerable.
🌊 He’s not cruel enough to leave you in the state you’re left in- chained up, bruised, bitten, mental fortitude crumbling- he’ll put you all back together, with bandages and soft pets to your head, mimicking Mr. Crawling- he knows you inside and out. He’ll bring you back perfectly.

snowfall.
written for @steddieholidaydrabbles & @steddiemas | prompts: snowfall and cold | wc: 989 | rating: teen & up | tags: mutual requited pining, post-canon, eddie pov, getting together, love confessions, first kiss, winter fluff, smoking weed
Eddie used to love the cold.
He could layer up tee shirts and jackets with his vest comfortably; could disguise the smoke in his mouth as just his breath in the icy air. But then he nearly died shivering on the frigid, unforgiving ground of the Upside Down and the cold lost its luster.
Now, as he stands outside of his trailer smoking a tightly rolled joint— he’s a professional, thank you very much— he shivers again. Normally, Eddie would just smoke in the trailer, all the way in the back and blow smoke out of the window, but the kids are over and even Eddie understands that that’s probably not the best idea. Dustin is a blabbermouth and if Claudia or Hopper found out… well, now he shivers for a different reason.
Smoke coils its way down his chest and he looks up at the sky, staring at the flickering stars and crescent moon. The Upside Down had been an empty, angry place devoid of light, but the real world— his world— is peppered with blinking points of light that only disappear temporarily when they’re obscured by fluffy clouds. For a moment, he closes his eyes and lets his shoulders sag, head dropping with his chin to his chest and the joint still smoking between his fingers.
It’s fine, he reminds himself. It’s not the same. It’s just December in Indiana.
“Hey,” a familiar voice interrupts the silence, footsteps crunching over frosty grass and dried leaves. “I was wondering where you went.”
Eddie clears his throat and slaps on a smile before he turns around.
“Didn’t wanna hear it from Hopper if I exposed the innocents to Satan’s lettuce, y’know?” He wiggles the joint between his fingers and offers it to Steve. “Wanna share?”
Steve rolls his eyes— a fond gesture, Eddie’s come to learn— and accepts, taking a hit and passing it back.
“Thanks,” Steve says, a mixture of smoke and breath puffing out like the clouds passing above them.
“Just got a little…” Eddie trails off and waves his hand, gesturing at nothing and everything all at once, dropping the joint to the ground. It was almost done anyways, he sighs to himself as he stomps it out.
Steve huffs a laugh through his nose and nods knowingly. It’s far from the first time that Steve’s found Eddie hiding somewhere, collecting himself. Steve’s admitted to the same, that he loves when everyone gets together but it can be a lot all the same.
“Yeah, I get it,” Steve agrees, stepping closer and leaning up against the tree, just arms’ distance from Eddie.
Something symbolic there, Eddie thinks to himself. As close as they’ve gotten, as catastrophically in love with Steve as Eddie’s fallen, he always feels like this: just out of reach.
Under the translucent glow of the night sky, Eddie tries not to stare at the pink flush of Steve’s cheeks, his nose rosy from the cold. It’s hard not to reach out and close the distance. It’d be so easy— just stretch out a hand and rest his equally chilly palm against Steve’s cheek— but he shoves them into his pockets instead and digs his fingernails into his palms as he curls them into a fist.
Something cold hits Eddie’s nose, and then another, and another. He looks up to find big, fat snowflakes falling from those puffy clouds, a shower of white, frozen flakes.
“Oh shit, it’s sno—” Eddie starts, but his words die on his tongue when he looks over at Steve.
The falling snow loves Steve almost as much as Eddie does, sticking to his eyelashes and the tips of his hair, melting against his cheeks and clinging to his bomber jacket, to his lips as he tilts his head up towards the stars. They part just slightly, just enough for Eddie to lose himself in what it might feel like to kiss him, to press his own lips against Steve’s— perfectly pink, welcoming.
Steve’s never looked so beautiful and Eddie has never been more in love, never been so worried that his heart might crack a rib. He’d done enough physical therapy for one lifetime, but if this is how he breaks another bone, then so be it.
“You alright?” Steve asks.
And maybe it’s the weed, or the magic of the moment, or the precarious levee rupturing that was never going to hold anyways, but Eddie doesn't hesitate, doesn’t even blink.
“You’re so fucking beautiful, and I’m so in love with you.”
His lips part and his eyes widen, Eddie freezing in place. Despite the snow, his skin burns with the acknowledgment of what he’s just done.
“Shit, just— y’know what, just ignore me, man. Super strong weed, that’s all. I didn’t, uh—”
Steve steps forward, closing the distance and leaving mere inches between them, just enough for the snow to fall between their jackets.
“You think I’m pretty?”
“Yeah, I do. That’s— that’s what you got out of that?” Eddie sputters.
“Just making sure I heard that right. And the part about being in love with me? You meant that, too?”
“More than you know.” Eddie swallows and shrugs, digging his hands deeper into his pockets as he chews on his bottom lip.
Steve closes the distance, eyes bright and a smile blooming from one corner of his mouth. He smooths over Eddie’s lip with his thumb and traces his jaw up to his ear, cupping his face like Eddie’s dreamed of for as long as Steve’s existed in his orbit.
“Well, that’s a relief. Now I finally get to do this,” Steve breathes.
The snow falls faster over their heads as Steve closes the gap and presses their lips together, soft and warm despite the bone-chilling cold. Steve’s lips slot against Eddie’s, and it doesn’t feel new. It doesn’t feel novel, or unfamiliar.
With snow beginning to pile up at their feet, Eddie feels like he’s come home.

people are sleeping on heimerdingers song, especially the lyrics. the contrast of his hopeful song with jayce enduring absolute torment going through hell and ekko being trapped by the weight of everything he ever wanted was such an emotional gut kick

The trip was over, and with it, you returned to the reality you had wanted to avoid. During the journey back, a mix of nervousness and anxiety had accompanied you. Rafe had promised you that he would leave Sofia. But now, days later, that promise seemed to have been forgotten.
Since they returned, everything had returned to normal for him. Or at least, that facade of normality. Sofia was still by his side, as always, smiling and unaware of everything that had happened. And Rafe… Rafe was still the same as always. Attentive to her in public, but seeking you out in private, as if nothing had changed, as if his life could be divided between both worlds without consequences.
At first, you wanted to give yourself time, to believe that maybe he needed a few days to sort things out. But every time Sofia posted a photo of them together or talked to you enthusiastically about how things were working out again, you felt a pang in your chest, a mix of anger and disappointment.
That day, after ignoring several of his messages, you ended up going to his house. Not because you wanted to, but because you needed answers. The atmosphere was tense from the moment you walked through the door. Rafe greeted you with a light smile, as if everything was fine, as if he didn’t know what you had come to tell him.
“I thought you weren’t coming,” he said casually as he led you into the living room. His tone was carefree, as if the last conversation you had hadn’t happened, as if the world wasn’t falling apart between you.
You sat on the couch, crossed your arms, and stared at him. He noticed your serious expression, but tried to ignore it, moving closer to you like so many other times. However, this time you didn’t allow it. You moved away slightly, keeping your distance.
“What’s wrong?” he asked, feigning innocence, but you knew he understood perfectly.
“What’s wrong?” you repeated, feeling frustration begin to boil inside you. Rafe, are you really asking me that?
He shrugged, as if he had no idea what you were referring to. That gesture bothered you more than it should have.
“You promised you would leave Sofia when we got back,” you finally said, your voice firm but restrained. You didn’t want to lose control, even though everything in you screamed for you to do so. “You told me this was going to end.”
Rafe sighed, ran a hand through his hair, and dropped into the chair in front of you. He looked tired, but you weren’t going to let that stop you.
“Things are more complicated than you think,” he finally answered, as if that sentence could justify everything. “I need time.”
“Time?” you asked incredulously, raising an eyebrow. “You had time. Days, weeks… and in the meantime, she still believes that everything is fine, that you are with her.”
Rafe leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees, his intense gaze locked on yours.
“It’s not that easy. I don’t want to hurt her.”
Those words hit you. He didn’t want to hurt her, but apparently, hurting you was a much easier option.
“You don’t want to hurt her?” you repeated, this time with a colder tone. “And what do you think you’re doing with me?”
Silence settled in the room. For the first time, Rafe seemed speechless, unable to respond.
“You promised me something, Rafe. You told me that I was the person you wanted, that all of this was going to change. And here we are, days later, and everything is still the same. You’re still the same.”
He stood up, as if he couldn’t stand the conversation from the couch. He paced the room, frustrated, but you couldn’t empathize with him. It was his decision, and so far, he hadn’t done anything.
“It's not that simple…” he said again, but this time his voice was softer, almost a whisper.
“Yes it is” you said firmly, standing up too. “If you really loved me, you would do the right thing. But it seems you'd rather stay with her, where you can have both of us.”
Your words hung in the air, raw and painful. Rafe looked at you with his lips pressed together, as if he wanted to say something, but couldn't find the right words.
Finally, it was he who broke the silence:
“I don't want to lose you.”
It hurt you to hear it. Because he didn't want to lose you, but he didn't seem willing to do what was necessary to keep you either.
“You're already losing me, Rafe.”
You turned your back on him, ready to leave, because you knew that if you stayed, you would end up giving in, like so many other times. And this time, you didn't want to be the one who always forgave.
The air in the room was thick with tension, and your words still echoed in your mind as you began to walk towards the door. But before you could take another step, you felt a firm hand grab your arm, stopping you in your tracks. Without saying a word, Rafe turned you towards him, his face filled with something you couldn’t quite put your finger on: desperation, frustration, desire… maybe all of it.
Before you could react, his lips met yours in an urgent kiss, as if he needed to feel you close, as if he was trying to take back everything he had just said. It was a kiss full of contradictions, almost as if he wanted to ask for forgiveness and, at the same time, claim something he knew he had no right to ask for.
Your mind fought against your body, which responded with a mix of rage and desire. You were angry, yes, but you couldn’t deny what you felt when he touched you like that. Every part of you screamed to stop him, to pull away and not let things happen again, but you didn’t. You couldn’t. The desire was stronger, and before you could make a conscious decision, you found yourself beside him, back in his arms, kissing him with an intensity that surprised you.
He guided you towards the couch, and as upset as you were, you couldn’t pull away. The anger was still there, but somehow, that didn’t stop you from moving forward. Maybe it was the exhaustion of constantly fighting what you felt for him, or maybe it was the hope that things could change after this moment, but when the barriers you still held were stripped away, everything else fell away.
Anger and resentment mixed with the passion of the moment, an emotional chaos you couldn't escape. You knew it was wrong, you knew it was a surrender, but you didn't say no. As emotions and bodies intertwined, reality faded away, leaving you lost in desire, in the contradiction of being furious but unable to reject him.
When it was all over, silence settled in again, heavier than ever. You were exhausted, both emotionally and physically. He looked at you with a mix of guilt and satisfaction, and even though you knew what had just happened wouldn't change anything, you couldn't help but feel something inside you breaking.
And so, in the midst of that confusion, the words you hadn't wanted to say continued to float between you, without an answer that could ease what you felt. You got up and changed and before leaving you told him:
“Next time you look for me, make sure you've made a decision. Because I'm not going to continue being the option you keep in the shadows.”
And you left, leaving behind a Rafe who, for the first time, seemed to understand that things couldn't go on like this.
That same night, anxiety continued to vibrate in your chest. Every word you had said to him still echoed in your head, and although you knew you had done the right thing by facing him, you felt restless, uncomfortable, as if something was about to break.
You arrived home, exhausted both physically and emotionally. You didn't want to think about him anymore. You lay down on your bed and stared at the ceiling in the darkness. The silence was almost oppressive, and your mind kept replaying every detail of the conversation with Rafe.
Just as you were beginning to fall asleep, the sound of your phone lit up the room.
A message.
You reached out, feeling the cold of the device on your skin, and as you unlocked it, Sofia's name appeared on the screen. Your stomach immediately contracted. It was too late for her to text you something casual.
With a mix of nervousness and curiosity, you opened the message.
“Rafe dumped me.”
Three words that froze you completely.
You read the message over and over again, making sure you hadn’t misunderstood. But no, there it was, clear and direct. Sofia, your best friend, had just been dumped by Rafe… and with no explanation.
Your heart was pounding, and you felt a surge of conflicting emotions. On one hand, there was relief. Relief that Rafe had done what you had asked, what you had demanded of him. But there was also guilt. Because you knew you were the reason, even if Sofia didn’t know it.
Another message came seconds later.
“He didn’t say anything. He just… left me. Just like that, suddenly.”
Your mind filled with images of Sofia, alone, confused, wondering what she had done wrong, not knowing that the truth was much darker than she could imagine.
You wanted to respond, but you couldn’t find the right words. What could you say? How could you comfort her when you yourself were so involved in what had happened?
Several minutes passed before your fingers finally moved over the screen.
“Sof… I’m so sorry. Are you okay?”
You knew it was an insufficient answer, but you had nothing better to offer. You felt like anything you said would be a lie or a betrayal.
Her response came quickly:
“No. I’m not okay. I don’t understand anything. We were okay… or at least I thought we were.”
You read her message with a heavy heart. You knew exactly what she felt. You had seen how Sofia struggled on the trip, how she tried to save a relationship that, for her, still had a future.
“I want to see you.”
The next message took you by surprise. Sofia wanted to see you, now. Your first instinct was to refuse, to look for an excuse, something that would allow you to avoid the inevitable confrontation. But how do you say no to your best friend at her worst moment?
“Of course. Tell me where you are.”
In less than fifteen minutes, you were at her front door. Sofia greeted you with swollen eyes and a tired face. There was no trace of the girl who just a few days ago was excited to save her relationship.
“Thanks for coming,” she whispered as she let you in.
You entered the living room, where the atmosphere was as heavy as Sofia’s gaze. She sat on the couch and you sat next to her, feeling the weight of guilt in every fiber of your body.
“I don’t understand what happened,” she finally said, breaking the silence. “We were fine… at least I thought we were fine.”
The sincerity in her voice broke you. You wanted to tell her the truth, but you knew that doing so would destroy everything: your friendship, your trust, everything you had built together. So you stayed silent, letting her vent.
“She didn’t even give me a reason,” she continued, nervously playing with her hands. “She just said she couldn’t go on. I don’t understand…
And you didn’t understand how you had gotten to this point either. How had you allowed everything to fall apart so quickly?
“Sof…” you began, but the words caught in your throat. What could you say that didn’t sound hollow? “Sometimes… people are cowards. They don’t know how to handle things and they end up running away.”
She looked at you with eyes full of tears.
“Do you think that’s it? That she just… didn’t know how to handle it?”
You nodded slowly, even though you knew the truth was much more complicated. It wasn’t just that. It was Rafe, it was desire, it was everything they had both done behind each other’s backs.
“Sofia, he doesn’t deserve you if he can’t be honest with you.” It was the most sincere thing you could offer her without giving yourself away.
She sighed, letting her head fall on your shoulder.
“Maybe you’re right. But… it hurts. It hurts so much.”
And as you comforted her, you felt your own heart break in two. Because you knew that Sofia’s pain was, in part, your fault.
The weeks following Sofia's breakup with Rafe became an emotional whirlwind that seemed impossible to escape. Sofia, devastated and confused, sought your comfort constantly. And you... you were there for her, like the loyal friend you had always been. But guilt slowly consumed you.
Every time she cried on your shoulder, every time she asked for advice, a part of you was torn apart. Because while you offered her words of support, while you told her everything would be okay, that she deserved better... you continued to secretly see Rafe.
Rafe, who had promised to leave her, who had said everything would be easier once he did. But nothing was easy. The guilt, the tension, the constant lying... it all weighed more than you had imagined.
One afternoon, Sofia showed up at your house with swollen eyes and a broken voice.
"I don't know what to do, I still love him. I can't stop thinking about him."
You stayed silent, biting your lip, trying to contain the torrent of emotions that was overwhelming you. You loved her so much, but you loved him too. It was a paradox that was tearing you apart from the inside.
“Maybe… maybe it’s best that you try to move on,” you finally said, your voice shaking.
She looked at you with eyes full of despair.
“Move on? I can’t. How do you move on when everything you wanted was with him?”
You didn’t know what to answer. Because you were living that same contradiction. You were trapped in something you didn’t want to let go of, but you knew it was destroying you.
Later that night, your phone vibrated on your nightstand. You knew who it was before you looked at the screen. Rafe.
The message was simple, direct.
“Come see me.”
You hesitated. You wanted to go. You wanted to see him, to feel the fleeting relief that being with him gave you, even if it was only for a few hours. But every time you did, the guilt sank deeper.
Finally, you gave in. You arrived at his house when the sky was already dark, and the warm light that illuminated the entrance seemed to mock you. You entered with a divided heart.
Rafe was waiting for you in the living room, leaning on the edge of the table, with that look that always managed to disarm you. The air tensed as soon as your eyes met.
“How is Sofia?” he asked, although he didn’t seem really interested in the answer.
“Bad,” you said frankly. “I have a hard time being around her… knowing what we’re doing.”
Rafe took a step towards you, his blue eyes fixed on yours, intense and challenging.
“Why do we keep hiding?” he asked, his voice low but firm. “She should know.”
The weight of his words fell on you like a stone. You took a step back, shaking your head.
“No. She can’t know. Not now. She’s broken, Rafe. If she finds out now… I’ll lose her forever.”
He frowned, frustrated.
“So what? Are we going to stay like this forever? I want you, not her.”
Your heart stopped for a second. There was something about the way he said it, with such certainty, such conviction, that for a moment you almost let yourself go. Almost.
“I can’t do that to her, Rafe,” you whispered, almost begging. “I can’t be the reason for her pain.”
“What about you?” he replied, moving closer, his hands finding yours.
You looked at him, caught between desire and guilt. Yes, you wanted to be happy. But at what cost?
“I can’t be happy at her expense,” you said, your voice breaking.
Rafe watched you in silence for a few seconds, his eyes assessing you, as if trying to understand the internal battle you were fighting. Finally, he sighed.
“I don’t want her. I want you.”
Your eyes filled with tears. You knew it. You had known it for a long time. But hearing it out loud, said so clearly, made it more real… and more impossible to ignore.
“It’s not that easy,” you murmured, looking away.
“It doesn’t have to be hard. Just tell me you love me too.”
You couldn't answer. Because your heart that was beating wildly, the way your hands trembled in his, and how, despite everything, you kept coming back to him, had already said it all for you.
"Don't make this any harder," you begged, your voice almost inaudible.
Rafe came even closer, his lips brushing your cheek in a gesture that was both soft and desperate.
"Sooner or later, he's going to find out. I can't keep pretending that I don't want to be with you."
The following days you felt trapped between the happiness of finally being with him and the anguish of what was to come. You knew that nothing good could come of this, but Rafe seemed to be in a different reality.
He wasted no time in integrating you into his world, a world that until then had been foreign to you. The first time he took you to one of those meetings with his friends was completely unexpected. He had insisted that you accompany him, assuring you that it would be something casual, just a relaxing afternoon. You had no choice but to accept, even though a part of you screamed that you shouldn't.
When you arrived, the atmosphere was full of laughter, music, and carefree conversations. Rafe's friends, the same ones Sofia used to hang out with, greeted you with smiles and greetings as if everything was perfectly normal. But the most shocking moment came when, almost casually, Rafe introduced you as if nothing had happened:
“She's my girlfriend.”
Your heart stopped for a moment. You hadn't even talked about what you were. You hadn't defined anything. But he said it so naturally, with such confidence, that his words hung in the air. You felt everyone's gazes on you, evaluating you, judging you. Some seemed surprised, others simply accepted the information without further ado.
You tried to stay calm, smiling slightly as your mind raced. He had crossed a line without consulting you, and it left you baffled. However, you didn't say anything at that moment. You didn't want to make a scene, not there, not in front of everyone.
For the rest of the evening, you stayed out of the way, watching, analyzing every move, every glance. Rafe, on the other hand, seemed comfortable, unconcerned, as if there was nothing left to hide. Every now and then, he'd come up to you, put his arm around you, or give you a kiss on the cheek, marking his territory without caring who was watching.
But you knew this wasn't going to go unnoticed. Sofia and those friends shared circles, rumors spread quickly in that environment. Sooner or later, she was going to find out.
That night, when you returned home, you couldn't help but confront him.
"Why did you tell them I'm your girlfriend?" you asked, your voice tenser than you had planned.
Rafe looked at you calmly, as if he didn't understand your concern.
"Because you are."
“But we hadn't talked about it. You didn't ask me.”
He shrugged, as if it didn't matter.
“I didn't see the need to talk about it. You and I are together. That's all that matters.”
His words, though simple, didn't ease the anxiety that was eating away at you inside. Because you knew that for him it was easy to say it, easy to act as if there were no consequences. But for you, for Sofia... none of this would be easy.
That night, as you lay in your bed, the weight of the situation kept you awake. You wondered how many more days could pass before everything exploded, before Sofia discovered the truth and your whole world fell apart.
And as you had said, Sofia found out. You didn't know exactly how, if it was because of the rumors that spread like wildfire in that closed circle or if someone, perhaps with malicious intentions, decided to tell her the truth. But the result was the same: your friendship with her, the relationship you valued so much, was about to break.
It all happened one afternoon when Sofia, with a dry and direct message, asked you to go to her house. "We need to talk." Two words that already gave you an idea of what was to come. You felt a knot in your stomach as you headed to her house, as if every step you took brought you closer to the edge of a cliff.
When you arrived, Sofia was waiting for you in the living room. There was no trace of the kind and warm Sofia who always greeted you with a smile. Her eyes, usually full of sweetness, now shone with a mix of pain, anger and betrayal.
“How long?” she asked you without preamble, her voice cold, sharp.
You tried to stay calm, but your hands were shaking slightly.
“Sofia, I...”
“How long have you been with Rafe?” she repeated, this time with more force, her eyes fixed on yours as if they wanted to pierce you.
The silence that followed was deafening. You knew that lying was pointless, so you took a deep breath and confessed:
“For a while now… after the trip.”
Sofia’s expression changed in an instant. The pain turned into anger, an anger you had not seen in her before.
“After the trip?” she blurted out in disbelief, taking a step towards you. “While I was trying to save my relationship with him, you were with him behind my back?.”
You tried to explain yourself, but every word felt empty, useless.
“It wasn’t planned, Sofia. I didn’t want it to happen.”
“But it happened!” she interrupted you, her voice breaking. “You were my best friend, I trusted you. I thought you were on my side, that you supported me… and all this time you were with him.”
You felt her pain stab you like a dagger. It was true. You had betrayed her trust, something you never thought you would do, but now it was impossible to deny.
“I didn’t want to hurt you,” you said in a whisper, knowing that your words wouldn’t be enough.
Sofia laughed, but it wasn’t a laugh of joy. It was a bitter laugh, full of disappointment.
“You didn’t want to hurt me, but you did. You took away the person I loved, and not only that, you also took away my best friend.”
The truth of her words hit you hard. You had lost something irreplaceable: her friendship.
“Sofia, please… can we talk, can we…”
“There’s nothing to talk about,” she interrupted you again. “Everything has already been said. I don’t know who you are. I don’t want to know anything more about you.”
Each word was like a stab. You wanted to hug her, to ask for forgiveness, but the wall that had been raised between the two of you was too high, too thick. Sofia looked at you one last time, her gaze full of resentment and pain, before turning and walking away.
You stayed there, alone in that room that had previously witnessed so much laughter, now empty of everything you had shared with her.
When you left her house, the weight of guilt and sadness became unbearable. You had lost Sofia, and the worst of all was that you knew there was no turning back. The lines you had crossed with Rafe had broken something that could not be repaired.
That night, Rafe texted you, as always, asking how you were. But this time, you didn't reply. Because nothing was right.
The next day, everything felt different. The breakup with Sofia still weighed on your chest, like an open wound that wouldn't stop bleeding. You'd barely slept, and when you finally opened your eyes, the first thing you felt was that emptiness that your friendship used to fill.
Rafe noticed it right away. You weren't the same. Your answers were short, your eyes avoided his, and your every move seemed laden with a sadness you couldn't hide. Still, he was there. He texted you early that morning, offering to spend the day with you, to which, after a moment's hesitation, you agreed.
When he got to your house, he didn't say much. He simply looked at you, understanding that there was something broken in you, something that he, no matter how hard he tried, couldn't fix. But that didn't stop him from trying.
“Come on, get out of here for a while,” he said softly, taking your hand with a gentleness unusual for him.
You went out together, and even though you didn’t feel like doing anything, he didn’t leave you alone. You walked along the beach, that same beach that had witnessed so many moments between you two, but that now seemed laden with a silent melancholy.
Rafe tried to distract you. He bought you coffee, he took you to a secluded place where you used to escape from the world, he even tried to make you laugh with jokes that normally would have worked. But not today. Today everything seemed out of place.
At one point, as you walked along a deserted path, you stopped.
“I shouldn’t be here with you, Rafe,” you murmured, looking at the ground, as if the words hurt to come out. “Not after what happened.”
He looked at you in silence for a few seconds, his face serious but not losing that touch of tenderness that he rarely showed.
“I know you’re sad,” he said finally. “And I'm not going to pretend that this isn't complicated… but I'm here because I want to be here. Because I want to be with you.”
You didn't know what to say. His presence was comforting, yes, but it was also the reason for your loss. You felt a constant struggle between guilt and desire, between what was right and what made you feel alive.
Later, when you both sat on the sand in front of the sea, the sun was beginning to set on the horizon. Rafe put an arm around your shoulders, bringing you closer to him. You let yourself go, resting your head on his chest while you listened to his heartbeat, strong and constant, as if he were trying to transmit some of his own calm to you.
“You're not alone, you know that?,” he murmured.
“I feel alone.” Your voice was barely a whisper.
He didn't respond immediately. He just held you tighter, as if that was enough to keep you whole, even if inside you felt like you were broken.
You spent the rest of the day together. There were no big words or extravagant gestures, just the silent company of someone who wanted to be there, even if he knew everything was strange, complicated, almost impossible.
When you finally returned home, Rafe walked you to the door. Before saying goodbye, he looked at you with an intensity that made you tremble.
“If I could, I would fix everything for you,” he said, almost in a whisper. “But for now, just let me be here.”
And even though you knew that relationship was built on a fragile foundation, that night you decided that, at least for one more moment, you would accept his company.
As the days went by, things calmed down. Rafe was more present than ever, and even though you felt like your world had fallen apart, he was still there, constant, firm, and increasingly involved in your life. But the void that Sofia had left was still there, reminding you of everything you had lost.
One afternoon, while you were at his house, lost in your thoughts on the patio, Rafe appeared with that confidence he always had, as if everything in his world was under control. He sat in front of you, looking at you with a seriousness he rarely showed.
“We need to talk.” His voice was low, but firm.
You looked at him, somewhat nervous. There was something in his expression that made you tense.
“What’s wrong?” you asked, crossing your arms, trying to prepare yourself for whatever was coming.
Rafe leaned forward, his eyes locked on yours.
“I want you to be my girlfriend.”
The air seemed to have suddenly become thicker. You looked at him, surprised, not knowing how to react.
“Your… girlfriend?.” you repeated, as if you hadn’t quite understood.
He nodded, not looking away.
“Yes. I don’t want to keep hiding, I don’t want this to be something half-baked. I want you to be mine, and I want everyone to know it.”
Your heart skipped a beat. You had waited for this moment, somehow, but now that it was happening, a mix of emotions flooded over you. There was a part of you that wanted it, that wanted to accept and leave all the guilt and fear behind. But there was also that other part, the one that knew things weren’t that simple.
“Rafe… this isn’t easy.” You tried to find the right words, but he interrupted you.
“It doesn’t have to be easy,” he said, with that characteristic confidence. “It just has to be real. I love you, and you love me. What else matters?.”
You stayed silent. You knew he was partly right, but you also knew that accepting meant definitely giving up any chance of regaining your friendship with Sofia.
After a few seconds that seemed like an eternity, you took a deep breath and nodded.
“Okay.” The words came out softly, almost shakily. “I accept.”
Rafe smiled, that smile that always made you feel like everything would be okay. He leaned in and kissed you, a soft kiss, full of a silent promise. You were his now, and he was yours.
The next day, you decided it was time to try something you had been avoiding: talking to Sofia. Now that you were with Rafe, you thought it was the right thing to do, to make things clear. Enough time had passed since everything fell apart, and although you knew it would be difficult, you wanted to, at least, try to fix things.
You called her first, but she didn’t answer. So, gathering your courage, you went straight to her house. When she opened the door for you, her face reflected surprise, but also a coldness that you had never seen in her before.
“What are you doing here?” she asked, without inviting you in.
“Sofia… I wanted to talk to you.”
She looked at you in silence for a few seconds, before crossing her arms.
“I don’t know what else there is to say.”
You felt the weight of her words, but you didn’t give up.
“I know I screwed up, and I know you probably don’t want to talk to me again, but… I miss you. You were my best friend, and I don’t want this to end like this.”
Sofia looked at you with a mix of hurt and anger.
“Do you miss me?” she repeated, her voice full of sarcasm. “Because I confided everything to you. I confided my relationship to you, I confided my problems to you, and you…” Her voice cracked a little, but she quickly recovered. “You were with him behind my back.”
You tried to explain, but she held up a hand to stop you.
“I don’t want to hear excuses.” She said it with a cold calm that hurt more than if she had shouted. “What you did… can’t be fixed with words.”
You stood there, feeling how every attempt to get closer was rejected. You knew you were right about many things, but you also knew there was no turning back.
“I just wanted you to know…” you said finally, your voice breaking. “That I’m sorry.”
Sofia didn’t answer right away. She simply looked at you, as if she was evaluating how sincere you were.
“I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to forgive you.” Her voice was firm, but there was a trace of sadness in her eyes. “But for now… I’d rather you didn’t come back.”
The words were a final blow. You turned around and walked out, feeling the door close behind you, marking the definitive end of something that was once important.
When you returned home, Rafe was there, waiting for you. He welcomed you with a hug, as if he understood without you saying anything.
“How was it?” he asked softly.
You didn’t answer. You just held onto him tightly, feeling the tears you had been holding back finally come out.
You had lost Sofia. But at least, for now, you had Rafe. And that, at that moment, had to be enough.
Despite everything you had lost and the pain that the breakup with Sofia had left you with, there was something that was beginning to heal inside you: your relationship with Rafe. Against all odds, he had become someone who made you feel safe, wanted, and, above all, loved.
The days with him were different. It didn’t matter how much chaos surrounded your lives, because when you were with him, everything seemed to make sense. Rafe, the boy who had previously seemed unattainable, focused on himself and his own world, was now yours completely. And he didn't just show it to you with words, but with constant actions that spoke louder than any promise.
There were the small, everyday gestures: he would show up at your house unannounced, with your favorite coffee in his hand, or some flower he had plucked from who knows where, just because he knew it would make you smile. The text messages at any time of the day, reminding you how much he loved you, how he thought of you even in the middle of his routine. He was always there, making sure you knew you were the most important thing in his life.
But there was something you never imagined he would do. Rafe Cameron, the boy who had always been reserved, even in his way of expressing himself, had gone above and beyond.
One afternoon, while you were at his house, both of you lying on the couch, he began to play with your hand, tracing soft circles on your skin. There was a calmness in the air, a peace that you both shared. Suddenly, he sat up and looked at you with a mischievous smile on his lips.
“I have something to show you,” he said, with that spark in his eyes that always intrigued you.
You looked at him, curious, as he stood up and pulled up the sleeve of his shirt a little, revealing the inside of his arm. And there it was: a small, delicate tattoo, just below the crook of his elbow. Your name. It wasn’t big or flashy, but it was perfect. The typography was simple, clean, elegant, almost like he was whispering rather than shouting.
You were speechless. You knew tattoos weren’t his thing. Rafe had always been more of a minimalist, averse to anything that could permanently alter his appearance. But there he was, with your name etched into his skin.
“You did it for me?” you asked, still taking in what you saw.
He smiled, that soft, genuine smile he rarely showed.
“For you,” he answered without hesitation. “Because I want you to know this is forever.”
You felt a warmth in your chest, a mix of happiness and excitement that you couldn’t contain. You gently stroked the skin around the tattoo, admiring the way it looked. It was something subtle, but meaningful, like he had found the perfect way to show you how much he loved you without losing his essence.
“It’s beautiful,” you whispered, still in disbelief. “You… weren’t into tattoos.”
Rafe shrugged, downplaying it.
“It wasn’t,” he admitted. “But some things are worth it. And you… you’re worth it.”
The words hit you hard, but in a sweet way. You hugged him, wrapping your arms around him, feeling his heart beat against your chest. At that moment, you knew that, despite everything, you had made the right decision.
From then on, every time you saw him, your eyes inevitably returned to that tattoo. It was a constant, a reminder of what you had built together, of how he had decided to bet on you. Even in his busiest moments, at meetings with his friends or in the busiest places, that little detail made you feel special, as if you were always present in his life, even when you weren't physically by his side.
You were fine with Rafe. It had been weeks since everything changed, since you crossed that line that you had so feared, but that now seemed to have been the best decision you had made. The relationship was moving at its own pace, neither too fast nor too slow, just the way you liked it. You didn't want to force anything, and Rafe seemed to understand that perfectly.
The days with him were a mix of tranquility and passion. They had found a balance. They went out together, shared moments in the privacy of their home or walked around the city, but always with that complicity that made them feel unique. There was no rush, nor expectations beyond what both of them could handle. You were fine, really fine.
You had tried to talk to Sofia again on more than one occasion. You tried because, despite everything, she had been your best friend. You knew you couldn't erase the shared history or the memories you still treasured.
The first time you looked for her, it was complicated. She didn't want to see you. She didn't answer your messages or your calls. It didn't surprise you, but it still hurt. The second time, you managed to meet her at an event that you were both invited to. You approached her, with every intention of explaining, of asking for forgiveness, of trying to save what little was left between you.
"Sofia," you called her cautiously, trying to get her attention. "Can we talk?"
She looked at you, her eyes cold, distant, nothing like the warmth they used to have when you were her confidant.
"There's nothing to talk about," she said bluntly, making it clear that there was no room for second chances.
You accepted her decision. You understood that some things simply couldn't be fixed, that there were wounds that wouldn't heal, and that the price you had paid for being with Rafe had been high. But, for the first time, you didn't feel guilty. You had done what you could, and now you just had to move on.
A few days after that last conversation with Sofia, you spoke to your mother. You needed to talk to someone, to get advice, or simply to feel the comfort that only she could offer.
You told her everything: how you had tried to repair the relationship with Sofia, how Rafe had become a fundamental part of your life, and how, despite everything, you were happy with him.
Your mother listened to you attentively, with that wise look she had always had. When you finished speaking, she put her cup aside and looked at you seriously.
“Did you do all this for a man?” she asked you, her tone firm but without judgment.
“Not just for him, Mom,” you answered. “I did it for me too. Because I love him.”
She nodded slowly, processing your words. Then, with that frankness that had always characterized her, she challenged you:
“So, if you love him so much and you have come this far, you better marry him.”
The phrase took you by surprise, but it didn’t bother you. It was typical of your mother to be direct, and deep down, you knew she was right. You stayed silent for a few seconds, thinking.
“You know what? I think I will,” you said with a soft smile. “I’m sure I’m going to marry him.”
And you were. Because, despite everything you had been through, the losses and the difficult decisions, Rafe was the man you wanted to build your future with.
Since that conversation with your mother, the idea of marrying Rafe stopped being just a fleeting thought. It became something tangible, something you saw in every gesture of his, in every look, in every moment you shared.
Rafe showed you that day after day. He was there for you on good days and bad, taking care of you, protecting you, making sure you knew how much he loved you. And you reciprocated that love with the same intensity. You had found in him a stability you never imagined having, a peace that made you feel complete.
You didn't know when or how it would happen, but you were sure that when the time came, you would be ready to say "yes."
And after so much, a year had passed. A year since everything changed, since you crossed that line you never thought you would cross, and since, with Rafe, everything took a new shape. You had learned so much in that time. Not only about him, but about yourself, about what love and complicity in a relationship meant. It had been a year full of intense moments, of ups and downs, of doubts and certainties. But now, looking back, you could only smile at everything you had experienced with him.
After a while, you had gone to live with him. Your parents had helped you move in and, strangely, they had gotten along very well with Rafe, being that your parents were somewhat peculiar and he was too. Now they were on the beach, a quiet afternoon, just before the sun set. The sound of the waves gently breaking on the shore and the fresh air caressing your face created the perfect atmosphere. They were sitting together on the sand, enjoying the peace, each other's company, without the need for words. Everything seemed to be in place.
Rafe, who had been looking at the horizon, looked at you with a different, more intense expression. He gently took your hands, as if he wanted to make sure you would feel it. His deep gaze left you speechless, and your heart beat faster at the seriousness on his face.
“You know I love you, right?” he asked you, as if he needed to confirm it, even though you knew you did.
You nodded, smiling tenderly. There was no doubt that you wanted him, that you loved him.
But what happened next took your breath away. Rafe stood up, gently put you down, and walked over to a small backpack he had left nearby. From there he pulled out a small box, and your heart skipped a beat. It had been a year full of hints, of little moments in which the two of you talked about the future, about the possibility of taking the next step. But you never thought it would be so soon, not so soon after everything that had happened.
Calmly, he walked back to your side, opening the box with a shaking hand, and inside, a ring gleamed in the evening light. It was delicate, perfect for you. It had a soft glow, but what made it truly special was its story: his mother’s ring, a jewel that had been passed down through generations of his family.
Rafe looked into your eyes, waiting for you to process what was happening. The sound of the waves was the only thing breaking the silence, but at that moment, everything else disappeared.
“I want to spend the rest of my life with you,” he said, his voice firm but charged with emotion. “I’ve asked you to be my girlfriend, and now I want you to be my wife.”
Your heart raced. Everything you had imagined, everything you had felt during that year, everything you had experienced with him, was condensed in that very moment. Rafe wanted to be with you, not just now, but always.
“Yes,” you answered, almost without thinking. Yes, because you loved him, yes, because you couldn't imagine your life without him, yes, because he had spent a whole year showing you what love really meant.
The sun was beginning to set behind him, tinting the sky in warm tones. At that moment, there was nothing more important than being there, next to him, knowing that the future they both dreamed of was within reach.
And even though it wasn’t the first time he had proposed to you, this was the most special. Rafe had done it before, a couple of times, but always in spontaneous moments, almost as if he said it without thinking. Each time, you had responded with a smile and a nervous laugh, because deep down, you knew you weren’t ready yet. It wasn’t that you didn’t love him, it wasn’t that you didn’t feel completely happy with him. It was just that, sometimes, the idea of getting married so quickly scared you. You wanted to be sure that it was the right thing to do, that you were both ready to take that step.
But as time went by, everything started to fall into place. You had shared moments so deep, so intense, that the commitment to get married didn’t seem so intimidating anymore. You accepted Rafe’s proposal not out of obligation, not because he was asking you to, but because you knew it was what you really wanted. You had been patient, and in those moments when you had questioned yourself, you had found the answer.
It was several minutes before you said anything. You just stared at him, the ring on your finger, feeling the weight of what it represented. Finally, you hugged him. You didn't need words, because everything was clear between the two of you. You knew that the rest of your life would be with Rafe, and that made you happier than you ever thought you would be.
You had lost a friendship, and although at first the idea of losing Sofia had torn you apart, as time went by you realized that you no longer regretted it. Everything that had happened between you, Rafe, and her was behind you, like a page in a book that now had nothing but scars and memories. It wasn't easy to say it, but in the end you knew that it had been necessary. The decisions you had made, although painful, had brought you to a place where you felt complete, to a place where you knew who you were and what you wanted.
You looked back only to realize that you had grown. The weight of loss no longer crushed you, not the way it once did. You had gotten over the pain of losing a friend you once considered almost a sister, but now you knew that in life, people change, and sometimes, those same people have to let you go so you can move on. Love, decisions, the paths you take... all of that comes with a price.
With Rafe at your side, you had found something new, something that completed you in a way you never thought possible. And what you had lost with Sofia, as much as it hurt, allowed you to open the door to what was yours, what you deserved.
You were there, sitting on the sand in silence, watching the waves gently crash against the shore. The sun was already beginning to disappear on the horizon, dyeing everything in orange and pink tones. Rafe broke the silence, his voice soft but full of intention.
“Do you know what I want most in life?” you asked him.
He looked at you, smiling softly.
“What is it?” he asked, curious.
“I want children. I want a family.” You took his hands, looking at the horizon as if you were visualizing that future. “I want our children to grow up and look like you, like us. And I want to be the best mother I can be.”
“And I want that,” he answered sincerely, squeezing your hands gently. “I want a family. I want our children to be more like you than me. I want to be the father they need, always.”
You looked at him tenderly, caressing his face with your fingertips.
“And I'm going to help you with that. We're going to do it together.” You smiled, feeling your heart beating hard, sure of what you were saying. “I already have everything planned in my mind. And I know it's going to be amazing. No matter what happens, we're going to do it together.”
Rafe smiled, a sparkle in his eyes, grateful and hopeful.
“I never thought I'd find someone like you” he said, his voice low, but full of emotion.
“Just you and me.” you said before giving him a kiss.
He hugged you, and for a moment, the world disappeared. There was only you and him, the sound of the waves, and that future that now felt so close, so real.
Now, standing there, with the ring on your finger and the promise of a future full of love and adventure, you knew that what was coming would be the best for you. The past was behind you, with all that it entailed. You no longer felt resentment or remorse. You had done what you thought was right at the time, and you had done it for yourself, for the love you had found.
Now you were going to do something new. It wasn't just a new beginning with Rafe, but a new chapter for yourself. You were no longer just the girl who had been caught in an emotional triangle, or the one who had had to choose between two people. You were now someone who knew what she wanted, who had learned to make difficult decisions, accept the consequences, and move forward with her head held high.
With Rafe, and with the commitment that your ring now represented, you were going to create something completely new. Something that didn't depend on what had happened, but on what was to come. No looking back, no regrets. Because in the end, only you knew what made you happy, and now you had the chance to live it.

Still Mad? // OP81
pairing: oscar piastri x fem! reader
summary: Oscar and reader have been bickering all day, sick of the uneasy tension between the two, reader decides to shock Oscar into forgiveness warnings: female reader, alludes to mature themes but are not explored, use of pet name "baby" author's note: this is my first time writing a fic here, so I welcome any tips! and potential asks for fic ideas :)
The apartment's tension was thick, lingering since the moment Oscar returned from his training session that morning. The two of you had been bickering all day over the most trivial of things: whether the dishwasher was loaded correctly, how to separate clothes when doing laundry, why your side of the bathroom counter was always a cluttered mess and why he always left his shoes in the middle of the entryway rather than neatly on the shoe rack like you have requested countless times. While the two of you were usually able to coexist peacefully and move around each other with ease, you were like fire and gasoline today; constantly setting each other off.
By the time late evening rolled around you were sick of the constant back and forth. Oscar seemingly having enough as well plopped himself on the couch, pulling out his phone and beginning to scroll with an annoyed expression you wanted to wipe right off of his face. With that your eyes lit up with an idea, if he wanted to sulk that was fine with you, but you had other plans for the rest of your night.
While he was distracted by whatever YouTube video he turned on you quietly slipped away, heading straight to your shared bedroom. You could feel your heart rate pick up with excitement, your lovely boyfriend had no idea about the treat he was in for.
You slowly pulled open a drawer, moving some items to the side to unveil a rectangular white box. On your last shopping trip with the girls, you purchased a stunning new lingerie set with the intention of saving it for a special occasion but ultimately decided now was perfect.
It was a delicate all-white number, a colour that always got Oscar going, and with the way he was glued to his phone you needed something to steal his attention.
Sliding on the set, you marvelled at how the waistline perfectly accentuated your hips and how the beautiful bustier enhanced your already shapely boobs (Oscar's favourite part of you, whether he admits it or not). This was certain to make him regret his actions of today...
Taking one last steadying breath you padded back out into the living room, Oscar still unmoving and eyes still glued to his phone, not even noticing you coming back into the room.
You paused your movements as you approached the back of the couch, "Baby, are you still mad?" you ask, voice sickly sweet.
"Mhm," he grunted, not even bothering to raise his head.
Moving slightly closer you place your hand on the back of the couch, beside his shoulder, "Are you sure?" trying again.
Another non-committal grunt reaches your ears.
With a small sigh, you decide to try one last time, this time making your way to the front of the couch, right in front of him. Still oblivious to you standing there half naked, Oscar remains head down still glued to his phone causing you to let out a little giggle that gains his attention.
"I told you-" Oscar snaps, clearly annoyed, and finally raising his head before cutting himself off and dropping his phone at the sight of you in front of him. Straight out of one of his wet dreams he reckons.
"So, are you sure you're sure?" you ask, tilting your head slightly and smiling smugly.
He blinks a few times, shocked at the sight of you before slowly sliding further into the couch, hands dragging down his face as a groan escapes his lips.
"Baby" he groans, sounding pained as he drags out the 'y'.
"What?" you question, moving forward to stand between his knees, smug smirk still on your face, "cat got your tongue?"
"This isn't fair, you can't just use your... your secret weapon" he gestures at your cleavage on display, "to distract me from being angry," he finishes with a slight upturn of his lips, showing you he really wasn't angry at all anymore.
"Oh but Osc, that's where you're wrong. I can, and I will," you whisper, running a hand through his hair, slightly tilting his head back as you do.
Whatever arguments you had are long forgotten, and whatever rebuttal he may have had was gone, as Oscar quickly grabs your thighs to pull you onto his lap and deliver a long-awaited kiss to your lips. Your lips meeting in hurried passion and need after a day's worth of tension leaves your body.
"Does this mean I win every argument from today?" you whisper as you pull away for air.
You're just met with an eye-roll and another mind-numbing kiss as your beloved boyfriend stands up with you in his arms heading towards your room.
Safe to say, he definitely wasn't mad anymore.
