this hurts me bc I love marcel and I love rebekah and in another world with better writers I can see them, but alas……. there’s no getting around the fact that she practically raised him with klaus. not even the actors’ incredible chemistry can make me overlook the fact that rebekah’s an adoptive aunt to him. even if she didn’t raise him and had moved to new orleans when marcel was an adult, it would still be weird considering klaus was a father figure to him.

maybe if they had met in TO instead, I could be ok with it bc they wouldn’t have known each other when marcel was a literal child. by the time TO takes place, marcel no longer thinks of klaus as a father (for the most part rip the show is so fickle about that) so naturally klaus’ siblings are not thought of as marcel’s family too. either way it’s a mess and way too kind-of-incestuous for me.

I mean. yeah. I teeter between despising damon and liking him as a villain like 5 times a day. he was much more enjoyable to me for most of s1 until the last couple of episodes, but I hate how he’s pushed as a main protagonist at the expense of pretty much every other character, including elena. her character assassination to justify picking the man who compelled, harassed, disrespected and forced himself on her and her friends—it makes me see red. man killed her brother bc she didn’t let him forcibly kiss her while she was dating his brother and I’m supposed to think that’s true love?

the biggest problem I have with damon is that the writers want so badly for him to be seen by viewers and characters as redeemed… yet they do absolutely no work to make that happen. instead of evolving damon as a person, they retcon stefan and stelena. they regress elena until she’s barely recognizable. they villainize characters he’s abused and who hate him, like caroline in s4. I could talk about this for hours but I genuinely get angry thinking of how fucked the show gets bc the writers refuse to change one fucking character for the better and truly redeem him or commit to him being shitty and have him recognized as a shitty person.

that’s why I hate to see people comparing him to klaus bc there’s no way you think they’re anything alike. at the very least klaus is self-aware and isn’t automatically accepted by everyone around him just bc a girl chose him over his brother.

I fully recognize that klaus had big feelings for her and probably would’ve grown to really love her if they’d had more time. but in my humble opinion cami outgrew her usefulness and relevance to the plot before s1 was even finished. I love me a good “I can fix him” storyline, but they just…. fell flat to me. my man had some fantastic moments expressing his affection for her but they were few and far in between to make me root them him and cami specifically and not just him alone. she’s always felt like a self-insert the writers didn’t know what to do with, and I have no time for that 😭

Farscape rewatch ep 2x09: Out of their Minds

One of my faves and is a rare just plain hilarious ep which is just pretty wild and joyful, though even it manages to have that little heartbreaking moment with D’Argo and Pilot and it’s very on brand that logical talking solves nothing for Zhaan and she has to resort to violence.

But yeah, it’s a very hard ep to discuss, almost as hard to write about as it is fun to watch because what is there to analyze in a goofy, crazy ep where everyone switches bodies?

Of course, it says something that for the Moya crew, switching bodies with each other while on a ship about to be blasted to pieces counts as a good day. In a way it’s parallel to S1’s ‘Through the Looking Glass:’ near death and craziness and off-kilter stuff with a happy ending and we know the angst is about to hit, with the Gammak base and torture. (The same happens in S3. After the lovely, hilarious LoMo ep, it’s all angst from there. S4 doesn’t have that as the whole thing is pretty grim).

  I think OOTM is a wonderful acting ep: the actors must be having a blast and they are pulling off a really difficult feat, acting like each other, and they do it brilliantly. Ben Browder gets Rygel’s intonations down pat, Claudia Black’s imitation of Crichton’s guy mannerisms and the thumb to the mouth is awesome. And Anthony Simcoe’s body posture is spot-on Chiana.

  Another thing I love about this ep is that reactions of the characters are so spot on about what they would do in other people’s bodies but most shows would never go there: Rygel in John’s body needing to use the facilities, John in Aeryn’s body ‘trying out the equipment’ (I love that scene) etc etc. And of course, this ep reconfirms that Moyans listen to John more than to anyone else. Zhaan refuses to follow the plan to change them all back, until she thinks it comes from John (in reality Rygel in John’s body). Though Rygel does show unexpected depths when he talks about revenge being his goal. We forget often that he is a former Dominar, but he is. Hmmm, what else. Zhaan once again proves compassionate but ruthless when necessary. The ending is awesome. One of the funniest, most perfect ones. Chiana and D’Argo finally deciding to get it on:

Love D being bashful and Chi teasing and the dawning look of comprehension on John’s eyes as he watches him running after her. 

And ohhh, the sheer joy of the bit with John pretending to still be Rygel and then going ‘joke, Aeryn’ and she jumps on him and they wheel around the floor, laughing. So much giddy joy.

But yes, as I mentioned I so love that when characters switch bodies, the show brings up the stuff shows normally do not but would totally happen. Like Rygel needing to pee while in Crichton’s body and having no idea how and Crichton (in Aeryn’s body) having to walk him through it. Hilarious but also no other show would go there.

And the way the two of them get to play with each other’s bodies in a way neither probably thought they would. First we have Crichton in Aeryn’s body spellbound by boobs - they jiggle. Ahahahahaha. And then feeling them up as Aeryn in Rygel’s body watches irascibly. This show was WILD.

And of course, they are equal in body curiousity as we see in one of the best tags ever. Crichton saying ‘You gotta walk a mile in someone’s shoes’ and Aeryn replying wryly that she knew what he was doing when he was in her shoes (feeling her up) and his grinning ‘give me a break’ and then her sly little comment that it’s OK ‘you were in my shoes, I was in your pants…’ and his laughing and running after her and just…joy.

I always wondered what the status of their physical relationship before Look at the Princess was. I do think A Human Reaction was a one-off sex thing, but they do seem very comfortable with each other - I bet they are in the not saying or thinking anything on the conscious level (at least Aeryn is only subconsciously thinking about it; John is clearly way more attuned) but giddy stage and it’s so lovely...

Hiya! so I'm almost to the end of LITG S8, I hope you don't mind that I've popped in, an ask of yours was the most recent post.

Ok so, I feel like S8 is still one of the better new app seasons compared to the rest that's come out maybe S4 coming right after, every other season seems so forgettable and boring my god.

I do have a few qualms with S8 though like how MC is kept out of the loop on almost everything at least in S1-S3 they gave us a little something and s4-s7 MC couldn't stop being in the centre of the drama, but now it just feels like if you're not spending money on the game you don't know what the fuck is going on in the villa. Like at least in S1-S3 you could get through the storyline and paying for little extra scenes but now it's so infuriating, I'm on a Jin route and the whole Sienna situation looks so fucking odd if you don't spend gems to find out what went on, it really does look like Jin was being a cheating hoe ass skank the whole time until she left.

And secondly omg I was so sick of Emel's bullshit like first I dumped Sophie and Jack and then Emel acts like she has a stick up her ass the whole time and it just gets so dragged out and boring, and her and Oakley are not compatible at all 🙄 it's like fusebox is just trying to make a character equivalent to Jo from S2 but it's just not working because all this "antagonist" characters are just so one-dimensional and extremely and insufferably boring and bitchy with nothing else about them, same with LIAM omg like you could never be Jakub honey, Arlo and Ivy too like omg it makes the game so hard to sit through.

Apart from that I still think S8 is one of the better ones. Fusebox hit the jackpot with S2 and have been trying to replicate it (and failing) ever since.

oh absolutely. season 8 had some good qualities but a lot of it was still absolute garbage. the biggest gripe i had was that you’re forced to stick with the same partner for majority of the game whereas with previous seasons (s1-6) you could switch around.

Ok, but can we also acknowledge that “Will you be like my brother?” was El filling in the gaps of what Mike suggests first! Mike says “my mom will be like your mom and Nancy will be like your sister” which only logically implies that Mike would be like a brother to El so she asks for that reassurance because yes, it is what she would’ve wanted as well (which is why she’s disappointed after Mike denies that) but Mike was the first one to suggest that connection to family because he naturally associates her with exactly that. Which makes El not being able to fill the gaps to “blank makes you crazy” all the more hilarious actually.

Mike also cannot explain why he doesn’t want them to be like siblings and even admits that he doesn’t feel different towards her than towards a sister. He then moves on to tell her that the reason is that he wants to take her to the Snow Ball which could’ve been a good argument had he not said the former thing, plus had he not added that taking your sister to the Snow Ball, despite it being weird, is not out of the question! And we can’t forget that Lucas calls El a weirdo to which Mike replies: “What’s wrong with being a weirdo? The x-men were weirdos”, so Mike clearly doesn’t have much of a problem with weird things. To me this clearly foreshadowed that Mike and El’s Snow Ball dance was not meant to be romantic which is also supported by it being a parallel to Dustin and Nancy’s dance. I also ofc know that the kiss between Mike and El wasn’t supposed to happen but well, it did, it made it in the final cut which doesn’t actually mean much though since Mike and El also kissed after establishing that they actually see each other as siblings lmao. The kiss in both of these scenes, especially in the first one, was supposed to feel out of place and make the audience uncomfortable. It was never supposed to waver us into thinking it’s romantic!

Even earlier in s1 though El looks at a picture of Nancy and says: “pretty” to which Mike replies: “Yeah, I guess”, and after the boys give El a makeover Mike calls El pretty as well, though it is later revealed that the dress El was wearing is in fact Nancy’s. Not only is this once again a parallel between El and Mike’s sister but it also shows that calling someone/something pretty does not have romantic connotations which is also supported by El calling the teddy bear at Terry and Becky’s house “pretty”. Later on El asks Mike if she’s still pretty without the wig and Mike says yes though the face he makes afterwards speaks volumes, and that simply because they would not have included that in the final cut if it didn’t fit thus didn’t mean anything. His confused/disgusted expression afterwards is important!

In s3 Lucas calls Mike’s impulsive “I love her and I can’t lose her again” just a family discussion, and in Hopper’s letter he says: “I care about you both very much and I know you care about each other very much” which due to the almost identical sentence structure seems to imply that Mike and El care about each other in the same way that Hop cares about them which is of course as family and friends. In s4 Nancy’s name at Pennhurst is Ruth while El is at NINA which is conveniently located in Ruth, Nevada so we have yet another parallel between El and Mike’s sister and the name “Ruth” also actually means “Friend”.

it gets kinda suspicious. it's almost like the show is hinting how mike is more of an older brother figure to el than a romantic partner? (and i'm not even talking about the mike/hopper parallels yet🤗)

Ranking classical movie music composers based on vibes

John Williams: what iconic movie soundtracks HASNT he done. Harry Potter! Jurassic Park! Star Wars! Indiana Jones! Others!!! All iconic ones and all ones that have so great musical compositions to them that are recognizable and beloved. John Williams is probably one of the most well-renowned composers today.

Michael Giacchino: I will not forgive him for the Up soundtrack. Also his superhero movie song titles have unique names and I love the one song from the Spider-Man no way home that combines all three Spider-Man themes into one song but still manages to make it a unique song.

Hans Zimmer: Pirates of the Caribbean. He also did the lion king and I assume some other Disney movies too. His best known works are in the DC movies but I haven’t seen those. The soundtracks are solid though.

James Newton Howard: THE HUNGER GAMES THE FRENCH HORNS & SAXOPHONES WE CAN HEAR THEM AND WE HAD THE MELODY when we played it for a band concert and the fact that it was almost 8 years ago and I remember that fact says something. Besides that he did the fantastic beasts movies. He really likes to highlight the horns and I love that.

Alan Silvestri: Avengers. His best work is the avengers. Even if you’re not a marvel person you know the avengers theme. It’s such a recognizable song that is such a good earworm. I love how he incorporated the original avengers theme into the song from endgame (portals) without giving it too much of a copycat of the theme. That song gives me chills listening to it.

Christophe Beck: ok less known but he did the Ant-Man movies and in the same vein of Michael Giacchino these titles are fun! But along with those he did quite a few of the marvel TV shows and also Frozen. Christophe Beck really likes strong motifs and themes that can be called back to later. He also likes to highlight the lower instruments.

Danny Elfham: he’s got the ‘weird ones’ the Johnny Depp Willy Wonka, Rango, Alice in Wonderland, Beetlejuice, Nightmare before Christmas. But his music is really solid and fun. There’s not much else to say here.

Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein: ok so it IS two people but they’re the two who did strangers things all four years and even if you dont like the show; the soundtrack is beautifully done with a large number of callbacks to previous seasons. (Best example: Kids is the title of a song in s1. In s4 there’s a song titled Teens that uses the same motif from Kids but changed it slightly to be more grown)

Mark Mothersbaugh: ok so I only have listened to one of his soundtracks but it’s the thor Ragnarok one and I love it. He also did ofmd and yeah. I love the way the synth in Ragnarok is incorporated without making it too much in some of the more orchestral songs

Howard Shore: ok so I only know what’s from lord of the rings from him but I LOVE concerning hobbits as it fits the not concerned with the outside world, bouncy, carefree, happy vibe of the Shire so well in that song.

John Powell: so he did HTTYD and I absolutely ADORE LOVE test flight for many a reason. But mostly because of the FRENCH HORNS and the climax of the song and how it feels mildly action packed but not the sense of dread action packed but more of the carefree action packed.

What have we learned from this: super hero movies have great composers, I can talk about music theory for a long time and don’t even care if anyone is listening, I did know like 3/4 of these composers names without looking it up, and I’m the person the soundtracks are on Spotify for. Furthermore I love French horns despite never playing them and not being able to because I was a woodwind.

Ok so @chronically-fangirls​ asked me to do an Anthony Valentine rec-list, since I posted his images all the time lmao. So here we go <3

I’ll do a brief introduction, since some of my followers aren’t familar with him: Anthony Valentine was an English actor who was mostly famous for his really wide range of roles (from passionate heroes to sinister villains, from down-to-earth street gangsters to elegant aristocrats), his alluring and distinctive voice (with more than 10 kinds of different accents). He was born in 1939 in a working class family, started his acting career since age 10, had been acting for almost all his life (to quote his words, he can’t remember a day he doesn’t want to act). Besides the acting talent, there are many things he can do, riding, fencing, dancing, and singing... I will not just write them all down lol.

I will put the links from YT in the following list:

- Raffles: this is the show made me where I am now, I did watch him from Granada Sherlock Holmes in which he played a villainous womanizer at first, and that was how I got to know him. But the show Raffles made me become a, uh, a fan. It was adapted from E. W. Hornung’s novel series ‘Raffles’ (the premise of the novel was: ‘So Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson are thieves instead of solving crimes?’ Of course there are more to it but since this is a short rec-list I will keep it simple. It is heavily queer coded, it is actually... gayer than Holmes book series, and many people concluded the other (also very obvious) inspirations are Oscar Wilde and Geroge Cecil Ives, so to speak. AV along with another wonderful actor Christopher Strauli (who played Raffles’ sidekick and love of life) made the show as queer as possible for the specific time period (1970s, and some people say it might have been most explicit queer coded UK TV shows before Brideshead Revisit). Not to mention this show is a full display of AV’s various talents (especially the accent).

- Callan (pilot, S1, S2, S3, S4, scripts): while I was watching Raffles, I saw many people posted AV’s gif from this show, I am actually not specifically into spy genre, but I like its anti-Bond theme, the cynicism, the historical reference, the class conflict and social topics, and the aesthetic.. it is just so artistically entrancing for me. The main character Callan was played by Edward Woodward, who is also a very versatile and talented actor (I would recommend watching ‘The Wicker Man’ and ‘Breaker Morant’). AV played a character who is called Toby Meres (who is well received among the fans and it earned him the publicity and financial stability, his career got better and better since then), a charming but yet sadistic and sinister morally grey agent, who is in many ways opposite to the main character Callan (who was born lower middle class, whose parents were killed during WW2, who was oppressed by the system and upper class). unfortunately during that age filming tapes were expensive, and they didn’t know the show would become so popular, so some tapes from S1-S2 are lost, but even with the surviving episodes, it got me obsessed enough. Also AV was not in all episodes due to contract reasons, he was in most of S1, almost all S2 and S4 (absent in S3). There are also a pilot episode, a flim version of the pilot episode and a TV movie, I recommend the TV pilot episode (in which the original Toby Meres actor wasn’t AV, they recasted the character into him in regular series and it was successful). Well one more thing, I do ship the main character with Toby very hard, don’t judge me.

- Colditz (S1+2, some episodes from S2 got deleted from this list, the second playlist has full S2): AV appeared in almost entire season of S2 as a uh Nazi officer who was heavily wounded before and assigned to Colditz prison camp as second in command (yeah I did hesitate before) the show itself is definitely one of best UK TV shows of all time. AV was so good in the show it turned him into a sex icon (no kidding, srsly lmao, well I am gay so I am not attracted to him in that way but I understand), but also made his public image at the time somewhat troublesome to himself, along with horny fan letters, he also received many threatening letters from viewers who cannot distinguish between fiction and reality. He made a role which could have been handled in wrong ways by other actors, he gave the role just right amount of rigidity, unpleasantness, and yet you can see the humanity with glimpse, a very layered, not-so-villain kind of villain character. I watched his interview for another character in which he mentioned his interpretation to this character... not only he played just so good, also his understanding towards the role was intellectual and insightful.

- Justice: The show itself I consider is one of most liberal shows in UK in 1970s, its view is still relevant even today, it has heavy feminism tone, is sympathetic towards worker movements, and progressive in many respects, immigration, marriage, family, social equality, attitude towards law and goverment and so on. The main character Harriet Peterson was played by Margaret Lockwood, who was absolutely marvelous as a badass lady barrister (kind of like a warrior to me!) AV appeared in S3 (yeah you noticed he appeared in many things yet often was busy somewhere else lol) as young and dashing James Eliot. The fashion sense he had in the show reminds me of Al Pacino in his lawyer movie and also Bobby Deerfield.

- The Donati Conspiracy (three piece dystopian drama, I recommended this so often I can’t recall how many times)

Here are some notable mention I would really recommend after his regular shows:

- The Dancing Years (as the main character who is a romantic and sentimental composer during 1910-WW2)

Ok hear me out- the suffer brothers are great and all. The story they have written so far is great and look at all the attention it got. But sometimes they’re put on this pedestal like they’re gods. Yes they brilliant, but they ARE human. All the theories going around talking about ‘What if they made it look like this, for a big twist’ ‘what if they actually didn’t forget wills birthday and it’s gonna be a plot line in s5’ Like cmon, not every single detail in the show is relevant and some big conspiracy. Like how everyone’s mad abt them forgetting wills birthday, shit I would too! They wrote that what?..4-5 years ago?? Maybe longer? Would you remember a small detail like that? Like I’m sorry but the writers are allowed to forget tiny details. It’s not affecting the main plot in any way. Maybe the fans will be mad bc it could’ve been something more, but they are literally human bro. If they come up with some insane twist, props to them. I bet they could. But they are not gods! Some ppl need to give them a break..🥴

I follow this blog that had insane theories abt Billy coming back and at one point believed them, but can we as a fandom just face the fact that maybe the writers actually have never even thought of that? As fans of certain characters, we will pay more attention to them. As writers they are looking at ALL of them. Not the specific tiny details of every single one. My biggest problem with what you said is the fact they don't rewatch their own show. Like yeah, they created something brilliant and are good writers in some areas and I agree not every detail is intentional or important but they have twisted a bunch of stuff from past seasons to fit s4 and I hate that.

It comes across as careless especially the whole Max and Billy relationship which feels disconnected from S3 as if it didn't happen anf Billy died in S2 when they were at eachother's throats. The forgetting Will's birthday I laughed at but in S1 Winona Ryder had to tell them certain songs hadn't been released yet because they hadn't bothered to do some research. Fic writers do more research than that.

I agree that they're human and aren't masterful geniuses but damn google is right there. They claim they spent all of lockdown perfecting S4 and it was really good but they fucked up certain parts and that's fine to point out.

They're not going to write what we create here and that's fine because I enjoy what they have done and what we have separately. I enjoy their 80s fanboy story and they're not interested in exploring certain characters which is a shame but fair enough.

I do think they get shat on and praised too highly at the same time. Some areas they do brilliantly and others they lack concerningly so but same lol.

Some of the shit fans pull up is insane. They really aren't that thorough and Billy is well dead. I didn't even expect his cameo. That's why people believing Eddie is alive make me laugh. They said he was written to die, that's why he was so likeable. Which in and of itself is lazy because they're scared to kill of the main cast and almost killed Max.

Most of the heartfelt character driven moments are from the actors themselves. Billy's dad, Robin coming out and El's hand on Billy's face. Amazing moments they didn't think of but that doesn't matter because they happened.

I mostly agree with you but I do think they need to at least google a few things every now and then lol

Actually while I'm here, here's some things I like about s4 up to this point

I've only gotten to ep 9, so this isn't my full thoughts on the ideas of s4 so, yeah

I love the premise of season 4. Listen, the fact that theirs no fairies was set up in s1! That's almost foreshadowing!! I was always curious about why theirs no magic and this actually goes to answer that and I adore it. Like! Yes! Answers to my questions!!!

I don't mind the girls being on earth. Like I don't like how it happened. I'd like it more if Bloom was on earth by herself (maybe with Sky) at first and only called the other girls when shit got real :tm: but the idea is so funny to me. Esp if none of them look human so they need glamorous and use weird turns of phrases that get them weird looks. Sky mourning the loss of his good Eraklyon looks is a very funny concept to me, as is the clawed members of the group trying to eat with their hands and just failing...Nfksnd local aliens don't like being forced to look like humans

I love Roxy. MY GIRLLLLL!!!! MY BABY!!!! I LOVE HER!!!!!! Roxy gives me cuteness aggression. I love her. She and Artu deserve the world.

I love the guys hanging out. Ok, this is probably just me but this season has given me Brandon and Riven moments and I fucking love them. Riven being his same overdramatic self and Brandon not giving a single shit. Nabu and Helia get Riven to slow down and chill out, that's how their friendship works, Brandon just doesn't blink at Riven's nonsense. Water off a duck's back, and it's so funny to me I love it. It also made me think about Helia and Nabu hanging out. The chilliest guy ever and the most introverted guy ever, how much can the communicate without uttering a single word

So this current anime season absolutely stinks, which just makes the last one look even more impressive. Well, maybe not all of it...

Zombieland Saga Revenge

First off, you don't need to tell me that the following is a severe outlier opinion. We good? Ok. ZLSR is, in a word, subpar. I liked S1 back in the day, but it was already in the process of getting lazy towards the end. S2 continues this trend and is basically just another idol show. And as someone who actually does watch other idol shows I have to say that it's not a particularly good one of those either. The zombie gimmick has mostly stopped mattering and we're just doing what every idol show does, only with the odd occasional sight gag. The alleged subversive qualities mostly amount to a flashback for Yuugiri, which is admittedly the best part of the show but feels like it barely has anything to do with anything. Apart from that, it's a bunch of generic idol plots, rehashed character beats, shoddy attempts at twists (while not connecting to any setups from S1), and the obligatory "idols give us hope" ending, which is terribly hackneyed and flat out bad. Tae gets further memed into the ground, because of course she does. And there's stuff that was simply never good to begin with, like Kotarou and his comedy schtick, which gets truly insufferable now that there's no qualities to distract from it. It really makes me think that S1 wasn't even all that good to begin with and seems like an attempt to turn this surprise success into an easy money longrunner with no edge and no ambitions. "The idol show for people who don't watch idol shows" indeed, but not the way you mean it. 4/10

Bakuten

But not to dwell on the failures, with the second show we're already above the cut — barely. This one got my attention with its really impressive performance scenes early on and it totally sticks to that, which is even more impressive. But besides that? Well, this is by far the most predictable show in a season where I watched an unambitious Kiraralike and put ZLS on blast for having no ideas. The characters are a mixed bag, some are cool (Shida, Asawo), some are very annoying (Mashiro), but those are the supports. The main cast is extremely one-dimensional, which is fine until they try to heap a ton of pathos on their lead, which doesn't go well. But I guess execution matters, and Bakuten is slick enough to get by. Writing this down in stark daylight I feel like I overrated this show somewhat (I actually put it over the next one originally, which definitely doesn't hold up when thinking about it), but I was indeed mostly entertained. 6/10

Yakunara Mug Cup mo

Yeah. Of course Mug Cup definitely doesn't invent or subvert anything either, but it's a pretty good Kiraralike that's always entertaining to watch. Explaining the qualities of such a nothing genre is as difficult as ever, but it mostly comes down to me liking the characters and it having nothing to annoy me. It's shorter than normal, which is a plus for slim shows like this. And yeah, you can make an excessive amount of dick jokes with the clay fondling. That helps too. Looks are just fine, pleasant but nothing out of the ordinary. Comfy low-effort anime. 6/10

Vivy: Fluorite Eye's Song

This one is decent, but sadly still a major letdown. Because the first few episodes of Vivy were excellent and kicked ass, but then it became increasingly clear that the writing can't cash the checks the ideas wrote while the action starts running into severely diminishing returns. Vivy just keeps slowly getting worse and worse as it goes on, not by a huge amount each episode but by the end there's a pretty sizeable gulf between potential and result. Going into detail would probably be a little much for this venue because there's a lot, but from the top level view the issue is that while Vivy has good fundamental ideas and steals at the right places, it just isn't a smart show — it's schlock, and by the end, poorly thought out schlock that tries to smooth out every problem with liberal application of the big feels hammer and le epic twist at that. Yeah, couldn't tell that the Re:Zero dude was aboard here, for sure. That said, it still works pretty well as entertaining schlock that is not to be taken too seriously, and the characters are generally just very fun to watch even when they're doing stupid things. Still, I can't in good conscience rate this higher than Beatless, a show that looks like butt but properly executes on its ideas. 6/10

Super Cub

So this is 100% a Honda commercial, and I got really mad a Yuru Camp last season for being a blatant shill. Yet I'm feeling this, what gives? I think the main difference is that Super Cub is specifically a commercial for one product (and a very iconic product at that), while Yuru Camp is so all over the place that it ends up mostly a commercial for consumerism in general. And when Super Cub goes too hard on the product (which it does), it's at least pretty entertaining. That's something about Super Cub in general: It goes hard. Your regular Kiraralike this is not, because it's uncommonly slow, focused and moody - yes, it almost measures up to Yuru Camp at its best and demolishes it at its worst. Also, it's just extremely amusing to see sadblob Koguma grow a huge grizzly biker beard and become a badass outlaw dad to her goofy wife and cute daughter, all thanks to the power of afforable personal transportation. Needless to say, that can get unintentionally silly, but Super Cub has so much charm that it doesn't matter — it's great when it's good and still funny when it's not. 7/10

Shadows House

Shadows House turned up with a lot of potential, and I have to say it at least delivered on most of it. It has some problems; notably I'm not a fan of how the entire middle turned out to be a tournament arc of sorts that seems curiously inspired by Resident Evil memes, crest-shaped intentations and boulder punching included. I also think that this is a show that would be perfectly fine without explaining much, but I guess it is a shounen manga after all so we got dumped on eventually anyway. At least that came late - close relative Promised Neverland didn't show that much restraint. Shadows House is generally well written though, with great characters, interesting interactions and a great hook. But what really makes it memorable is that it's exceptionally good at the cute/creepy contrast, something that is often tried but rarely works as well as here, with great character designs and very appropriate production. I hope this gets a sequel, because it seems like it's just getting started. 7/10

SSSS.Dynazenon

Coming in with a fondness for Gridman, Dynazenon didn't have to do much to convince me. The surprise though is that it's not a rehash even if it's basically the same show, a character drama where occasionally huge and goofy fights break out. Dynazenon is Gridman done better, and the interesting part is how it accomplishes this - mainly by being far more conventional. I do appreciate that Gridman went for something weird and almost experimental, but that only really paid off towards the end while most of the show was a distraction/holding pattern. It just didn't feel like there was enough material for a full series there, more like a movie maybe, if even that. Dynazenon fixes this by just being a TV show, with an actual cast of characters that each have their own arc. And by spreading the material this way, Dynazenon ends up having a lot more nuance than its intensely focused predecessor, while having the same themes and not actually being any deeper. In a way, Gridman ends up looking like the spinoff in retrospect, while Dynazenon is the full package. 8/10

Thunderbolt Fantasy S3

So how good was this season? So good that Thunderbolt Fantasy doesn't end up at the top, that's how. And all the elements that made Tbolt such a sure thing are still there, big hammy puppets doing stunts and scheming never gets old. However, I do have to note that at this point, the writing appears to have gotten too comfortable. I don't expect it to ever top the amazing S1 ending, but at this point it's like Tbolt has stopped trying to deliver on endings at all and seems in the process of retooling itself into a longrunner instead. Barely anything gets resolved in S3 (the climax is that the climax of S2 is resolved again, for good this time... maybe), and everything else is just setting up plotpoints for the next season. Tbolt is truly lucky that it doesn't actually need to resolve anything to be a great time, but at this point I have to say that I'd appreciate it if they wrapped it up with S4. 8/10

Nomad: Megalobox 2

Speaking of sequels to shows I liked, Nomad doesn't so much improve upon its predecessor but steamrolls right over it. This is a tall order, since Megalobox was surprisingly good for a sports shounen and had a real nice, heartwarming ending that Nomad instantly negates for purposes of drama and everyone being extremely miserable. That sounds like a pretty terrible idea - and it would be, if Nomad wasn't as excellent as it is. To call it not the same show would be an understatement, because it's a true sequel, not just the same characters doing their thing some more, or new characters doing the same thing as the old ones did. Indeed my biggest problem with Megalobox was that it still closely adhered to its genre template and was very predictable; Nomad fixes this issue thoroughly. Nomad is about questioning what being a hotblooded shounen protagonist eventually leads you to, and how to fix everything you screwed up by being one. You could call it a deconstruction, but that term has been so abused for cynical, edgy "thing you like actually sucks" takes that I feel like it doesn't really fit here. Nomad isn't cynical at all, it's just a character drama about some boxers past their prime, and it being a sequel to a show that is indeed rather formulaic just enhances the experience. My biggest issue with it was that I really like what they did with Joe in this story, so the big focus on Mac's backstory felt like a distraction for a long time. But in the end that turned out to be absolutely necessary to make the ending work. The ending's just great, by the way, and I shall say not more about it. 9/10

Odd Taxi

Yeah boy, here's the show that has apparently become somewhat of a "greatest show you didn't watch" meme, which I can feel smug about because I don't need YouTubers to tell me what's good and followed this from day one. Anyway, Odd Taxi is indeed great, the greatest show in a few years even. What starts out as seemingly a relaxed hangout show in the vein of Midnight Diners quickly turns into a psychological murder mystery while never losing its quirky humor. The character writing is outstanding, with even small bit players being on a level that the average anime wishes it could have for leads. And the rollout of the mystery is exemplary, with answers given and new questions raised every episode with a satisfying and logical payoff in the end. This is also the rare anime that has rock solid production from the first to the last second; it's never really flashy but excellently done and highly consistent nonetheless. And the music just owns. I have a few complaints, mainly that there's a few logical weaknesses in the story (which wouldn't even register in a lesser show, but sticks out here since the rest is so immaculately constructed) and that the ending overextends on the emotions when the rest of the show is so reserved and dry in comparison. But those are only the reasons why I didn't give it perfect marks, and I almost did that anyway. 9/10

Riven x Musa

Ok, so I keep seeing posts everywhere that basically badmouth S8 and after seeing ten seconds of the trailer (YIKES to the animation, what’s wrong with the industry that they are making everything anime? Powerpuff Gen Z, I’m looking at you – obs: I didn’t watch it fully yet) I can see where some of the criticism is coming from but anyways…

My favorite Winx!couple EVER has always been Musa x Riven since I was kid and first watched the show (Netflix is not helping ‘cause I ship them even there).

I remember yawning at Bloom/Sky, rolling my eyes at Stella/Brandom and making a completely incredulous expression that I could literally feel forming on my face at Helia/Flora (can anyone say ‘unrealistic’?). Timmy/Tecna are a second favorite.

And why my Winx OTP are Riven x Musa followed after Timmy x Tecna? Because it reflects real life. In real life you’re not gonna stumble into people whose real and deep relationship problems are solved in twenty four minutes (not even that considering that some episodes present the “problem” half-way through said 24 minute-episode).

The breakup between Riven and Musa in S6 (spoilers everywhere after all) was one of the most mature breakups in the history of breakups with the hope for the future (yes, I’m completely ignoring S7, sue me, the whole thing was one huge filler anyways). And, after reading a lot of opinions on both ends (defending Musa/attacking Riven and defending Riven/attacking Musa) and watching the episodes in question (reuniting through reconciling) I think I can give my own analysis.

Since Musa AND Riven (individually and as couple) are my favorite characters in Winx, I think I CAN give a fairly unbiased view (hopefully).

Ok, keep in mind that I’m defending BOTH of them, because I ship them too hard not to.

Musa Being OC (sometimes being called ‘brat’): C'mon, people! Musa and Tecna are OC since S4 anyways, where are the tomboy and the nerd? With the sneakers, T-shirt and comfortable-looking clothes? Noooo, now they all need neat skirts and hot pink high heels and long, glamorous hair. Do they look good? Of course, but and I would totally be less pissed if there was ANY indication on the reason for the change. Are they just maturing? Expressing themselves differently? Crowd mentality? Tune and Stella finally broke Musa down and Tecna followed soon after? Was it just to please Riven and Timmy? ANYTHING (even the 'pleasing a boy’ would at least be A reason - a ridiculous one that would piss me off, but A reason none the less), was just a sudden impulse that took?

Sure, we can talk about “character growth” until we are blue in the face, but the matter of the fact is that there was none.

The changes we see in Musa and Tecna are basically the creators making them more like the rest of the Winx (I’m including Aisha in this too, where is the sporty girl that matched the boy’s interest in extreme sports? C'mon! Even Bloom and her Girl Next Door looks are replaced with Bratz and Clueless-level of outfits).

Is anyone really going to look me in the eye and say Stella wasn’t a shallow (if friendly and good-natured) Mean Girl? She got better, but as I re-watch the show (currently in S3, meaning almost half-way through the content), Stella still worries more about her hair than anything else even while under literal fire.

More and more, Musa, Tecna and Aisha are losing their identities and what made them, IMO, the more badass Winx.

How did the two on the left went from this…

… to this:

Yeah, yeah, Musa still sings, Tecna still technobabble and Aisha is still a Warrior Princess but Aisha was the first one to go Bloom and Stella on us with Musa and then Tecna following soon after. It’s not just their clothing style, it’s the way they carried themselves too.

Right now? The only thing keeping them apart is their BF blues (different kind of blues) and some personal interests (singing, shopping, tech, the whole drama with Domino/Sparks, etc). But that’s IT, their personalities are going down the drain!

Sorry for the long-winded text, but the reason I’m expressing my disappointment at their change is because Musa’s reaction fits it. S6 we have such an AMAZING breakup (didn’t even think that was possible, WTH, right? Amazing breakup?) only for her to be mad as hell at Riven at S8? Bad writing, that has been dragging her (and the rest of the Winx) down to becoming just one unilateral, shallow character (the Specialists are also falling into that pit, what in the world did they do Helia in S8? He sounds like Thor telling about his “brave exploits” there, yikes). And continuity what? What continuity? Do they even remember how the breakup was written?

But ok, let’s put the Audience View aside for a moment and focus only on the In-Universe terms.

S6: You’ll always be my hero.

S8: What on EARTH are you doing here. 

I laughed a bit, the contrast just got to me but instead of getting mad at one or the other like most of the fandom, I laughed.

Musa followed that by saying that Riven has not maintained contact and just in that I would be beyond pissed as well and giving my support to Musa. WTH, Riven? I think that each season is more less six months to a year? Sort of? Still, zero contact for so long even after ending on amicable terms and wanting to stay friends? And he went off on his own! A text now going, “I’m not dead” would be the bare basics for Musa not to worry herself bald!

BUT then I also read comments about how this was a two-way street, why didn’t Musa call either? That’s unfortunately something that I very much doubt will ever be explained. One of those: did it or didn’t it? Musa could have called and went straight to voicemail with no signs of life from Riven or she might not have called and just expected him to call as if feminism were dead and all initiative must come from the guy (which doesn’t even fit because they parted as friends).

Since we have no info on the above, I put it on both of them. It’s not fair to say, “HE should have called!” or “Why didn’t SHE call?” because we don’t have fricking context. So the only thing we can take is: no contact.

BECAUSE I put the lack of contact on both of them, Musa’s reaction was a little too much, however, Riven shows up all smirks and leaning against a tree with his arms crossed and I would have flashbacks to S1 if it wasn’t for the animation style that made all the guys look like girls. Dude! Not the time for that kind of posture. Not saying that he should be all sheepish and rubbing his arm as if he had done something horrible (again: we don’t have context on the no contact) but a more neutral approach was warranted here. Nobody does themselves any favors with that kind of attitude no matter what how high of a horse they may be (rightly or not) riding on, if anything I would react like Musa solely on that one.

Next episode we have that Riven convinced the guys to follow the girls in some mission and Musa was angry. Again: I would be too. WTH? Yes, yes, they helped and if it wasn’t for them, the Winx would gotten seriously injured but Musa did have a point saying that this demonstrated that they had no trust in them and need their hand held, it was no sanctioned mission like on Earth after all. BUT, Riven does something that I would never expect from in S1-4: he explains, he reasons it, he puts it in all the words that he does trust Musa and co and that he only wanted to show that he’d be there for her (you know? One of the main issues in S6 that made them breakup in the first place? His inability to conciliate Specialist work with supporting his girlfriend and ultimately failing or feeling like failing in both?) and Musa still pouts, crosses her arms, and turns around. Geez. I expected that one from Stella, not Musa. I think the closest Musa has ever come to THIS was back in S2 when Jared explains that Riven was the one to recommend that he interview Musa and yada yada yada and she got mad and stomped off on the poor guy that didn’t even understand what was going on (only to immediately apologize to Jared and recognizing that it wasn’t him that she was mad at… like I said: what character growth?).

Riven then goes to show that he indeed grew when he asked for advice from Sky and Brandon (WTH, right? Can we picture that happening back in S1-3? He very grudgingly would LISTEN to UNSOLICITED advice from Nabu and Helia in S4-6). And does a very, very goofy and embarrassing show of affection. Yeah… again… I can picture Stella loving the light show with her face for IDK how many people to see but not Musa (although can we really blame the guy after the series went out of its way to make Musa all Stella-like? Clothes, attitude, the only thing missing is making Riven carry her shopping bags around and call him “Shnookums” (although the mental image is already enough for me to fall over laughing, just for the face Riven would make). Still, I have to count that one against Riven if only because (as much as the show gives only lip service to it) Musa isn’t Stella.

Riven being mind controlled (again) aside, those two are back together. And on the overall? Riven showed more growth than any other character in the show COMBINED (he is the Zuko of the show), that doesn’t go to say that he didn’t make mistakes since coming back in S8 (but that was more a guy trying to win back a girl than… betraying his friends for a pair of nice legs or… IDEK like in S1 – where, mind control or not the show itself made sure to make it clear that he had free will) or that he is now the one out of Musa’s league. I think that NOW it can actually work… if the show allows him to keep the progress, Musa is the next to see her flaws and work on them (which she showed to be able to do since S2) and put effort in the relationship. The difference between them is that Musa can actually work on herself and the relationship at the same time. That’s not me saying she is better than Riven in any way, everybody has their own pace and their own way to cope, to improve and to self-reflect.

I still root for them.

Yeah, different of opinions and so on, but such opposite opinions on the subject of a guy whose relationship was focused on three episodes?

i dont like when people start with s4 it feels inorganic and i mean. just say youre watching bc you wanna fuck bj or think about him kissing hawkeye or whatever. it's fine just SAY THAT dont act like youre watching from that point onwards bc it suddenly became a masterpiece starting w s4 yknow. many of my favourite episodes are from s1-3 and i am also just a mean person who hates when people watch shows out of order? like suck it up guys it's what 75 episodes or something. just fucking watch it you'll be fine.

it is kind of wild to me how many people seem to only just be realising this show about the korean war might be... Problematic i'm like. yeah dude have we been watching the same show. for the time it was good but like... context babes! and also just bc it's bad in these areas doesnt mean you have to idk stop watching and blacklist it completely yknow. not to get into Cancel Culture but the show is fifty years old what did you expect was going to happen and also not to excuse it but it is better than a lot of shit that was airing at that time (altho my reference point for that time period is mainly uk comedy which um. well. should definitely not be a benchmark for Wokeness)

some thoughts on ÉLITE s4 immediately after finishing it

MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD, obviously

so. i have some thoughts.

i really disliked how they kept on piling up problem upon problem and i’ve seen that a couple dozen times by now and it always ends the same - nothing gets solved. Not really, anyway. The solution usually is; another problem happens, but its bigger and far more important and severe than all of the other ones combined and it overshadows everything that had happened before.

on that note, and to be fair, this is a teen’s drama show. So i don’t mind it, just to be clear here. i enjoyed the heck out of this season, right now, it’s my favorite season of all. That might change later, as all of this still is so new and fresh and exciting so my mind naturally snaps onto it.

first things first; Omander went just like i predicted - they broke up just so they could get back together eventually, after some hardcore drama. (i cried anyway. a lot.)

there’s one character i liked throughout the whole season. no, wait, two actually. first is rebeka. i feel like her decisions made sense. i liked her story arch a lot. the second one is azucena. what a queen.

.........guzman has a really bad temper. always had and probably always will. (to the samu/guzman/ari drama; why couldnt they have a pretty threesome, ari was quite obviously polyamorous (but i guess nobody has ever heard of that lol) and samuel and guzman almost fucked any second anyways so what exactly was their problem)

surprisingly enough, i liked Patrick in a lot of moments, about 50%. i absolutely despised him in the other 50%. tbh im really not sure about his character like with him, i don’t see any reasoning or goal or whatsoever. i have no clue what he wants to achieve?? guess he just wants to be gay and fuck around and honestly? fair enough

Mencia. Oh, Mencia. i liked her a lot from the get go and i still think her character is cool as shit, but there were quite some moments when i wouldve loved to smack her across the face. i also cried a lot when it came to Mencia/Rebeka. when Samu said “Fuck, you two are cute”? i felt that. i very much cringed at the chocolate scene, but to each their own i guess.

Ari; about 95% of the season disliked her. i didn’t hate her, but she was like a knockoff version of Lu? listen, i know i’m being biased here and it’s very unfair towards her, but to me, it just felt like she always tried to be the mean girl but never really succeeded. my opinion of her skyrocketed in the last few minutes of the last episode, though. we love some good sibling care in this house. not like it had been like that in the beginning, mind you.

i. fucking. hated. Benjamin. like the whole time. i think there was legit one single moment when i thought like “okay hold on that was the first (and last) good move you made this whole season” and it was when he offered Mencia to listen to her anytime she wanted or needed to. otherwise. fuck him. his attitude, his way of talking, his way of acting, fucking everything. (in the very last scene, when he destroyed the table? like yeah, i get that you’re emotional and angry and shit but my dude, your youngest daughter just told you she basically got r*ped on a daily basis by the guy *you* invited to your house because you only saw his money. can you please show some motherfucking self-control and not scare said daughter to fucking death oh my god i hate this guy so fucking much) also because he kicked out azucena. on that note, ander being protective of his mom? absolutely living for it.

aaand Ander. here we go. oof. i did not like him for a good part of the season. actually, i think it probably started in episode one and ended in the last one, lol. i just felt like there were little things that made sense? i appreciated him telling Omar that he finds this other guy (aka Patrick) hot, but like some time later, they break up in this really horrible and heartbreaking sequence and a minute later, Ander goes whoring around like there’s no tomorrow? like, literally? huh? i found myself really torn between who to dislike more; Ander or Patrick. nice el desorden reference. (both the shot where he masturbated alone in the shower and the book, lmao)

as for Omar; can the writers just leave him the fuck alone please? what did he ever do to yall to ever deserve all this shit he has to go through constantly in this show holy fuck i HATE how he got treated by Ander and Patrick and Benjamin. This boy deserves so much better. he did seem a little out of character sometimes, i gotta say. not sure why tho. most times, he was the sweet, empathetic cinnamon roll we know him as. like idk man he does so much for his friends?? the thing with Philippe and Caye at the bar was adORABLE

which leads us to

Philippe. dude. what. was his character. most of the time, i felt kinda bad for him, like his so called friends literally all just saw the royalty in him (not that he made the impression that he didnt like that in the first few episodes, but yeah it’s a thing so i reckoned that would come up later on). also i was so happy for Cayetana ughguhghguhghh they were really cute together......but then he gotta pull this shit, like what??? in the actual fuck. he’s just like “yeah some girl tried to sue me, saying i r*ped her” and then later he’s like “so yeah i’m actually a r*pist, whoops, sorry, can you stay pretty please?” like ex fucking cuse the shit out of me sir. no. the problem is i *want* to like him because pol granch is a fucking sweetheart and i’m catching myself thinking stuff like hes kind of aware that hes a borderline r*pist and that hes also very aware that it’s not okay? but like? he doesn’t try to change? don’t even get me started on his mother. ugly ass bitch. that’s all i have to say.

so i didnt like Cayetana for a major amount of s3, like at all. but yeah, what can i say. shes just a sweet girl okay and now i have a soft spot for her. much like Omar i feel like, she gets a lot of shit, completely uncalled for and there’s nothing she can do against it she just like stumbles into the pile of crap and then is knee-deep in. i feel very sorry for her man i just wanna hug her.

just for the record, there was not a single second that i thought Amomrdm(shit i forgot his name lmfao) -the bad guy- was just being nice and helpful. tbh he just deserved what he got. whoops, there, i said it.

the build up in the last episode was very nice, i gotta say. it was low key obvious who would be the one to attack Ari, but it’s alright. i did not expect the thing with Guzman tho lol. You go man. (but still, aggression problems.)

side note; dude it really sucks that guzman and samuel were too busy fighting over Ari to actually notice her missing lmao

oh also - Rebeka’s ninja kick on the dock??????? HELLO????

just noticed i completely forgot Samu, lol. hes just so far away from my type and i dont really have an opinion on him like yeah hes kind-hearted and cares for his friends, and thats sweet, but uuuhhhhhh. i was only there for the lil gay moments between him and guzman. there were a lot of them. i was really happy when he and Rebeka made up and talked to each other again, that was kinda wholesome. aside from that tho? idk hes just kinda [shrug-emoji] for me (like he had been from s1 all the way on to be quite honest)

Mike will ‘come out’ to his mother (prediction/theory)

This theory began when I saw this post, which mentioned how Mike and Karen wore nearly identical shirts in s3- with the caption “Like mother like son”. So I went back to analyze the scenes where they wore these clothes to see if there was some form of symbolic importance . So let’s breakdown why I believe Mike will come out to his mother.

Karen at a young age,  married an older man, who was the ‘safe-conventional option’ .

He had everything that people told girls in the 50s  they SHOULD want. He was older, had money, stability, and came from a good family- so Karen chose to marry him, for stability and public image. Nancy even says in s1 “I don’t think my parents ever loved each other. My mom was young. My dad was older… but he had a cushy job, money, came from a good family. So they bought a house at the end of the cul de sac and started their nuclear family”. But now Karen feels trapped (by abiding by societies expectations of her) and is now in a loveless marriage and is merely staying for her kids happiness. She tells Billy , “I have a family I can’t do anything that would hurt them.”

Karen has resigned herself to her fate. She is a cautionary tale , and she hopes her children don’t make the same mistakes as her.  She tells Nancy, her other child “ People always say that you can’t that you shouldn’t…this world, it beats you up again and again until eventually I-

“…most people they just stop trying. But you’re not like that, you’re a fighter. You always have been. I honestly don’t know where you get it from.”

Nancy: ‘”I get it from you.”

Karen :” Well, where-ever you get it I’m proud of you. That you stood up to those shit-heads.

Nancy: “Mom?!” (shocked and impressed)

Karen: “Yes those shit-heads!”  She says this with tears in her eyes, . Mike  also says “shit” like 8 times this season. One example was to the mindflayer/Billy “go to hell you piece of shit”).  And Nancy’s catchphrase since s1 has always been “bullshit!” They really do take after their mother.

Karen: “If you believe in this story… finish it.”

Mike: Is also trapped in a het-relationship that at a time would be perceived as the healthier- rational-conventional choice.

The fact, El and Ted both love the same laz-boy chair is another parallel, that both Karen and Mike are in loveless relationships. He tries to ignore his feelings for Will because “people tell you, you shouldn’t , you can’t”. He wears almost the same yellow shirt ( that Karen wore during the speech to Nancy) . Mike yells  “it’s not my fault you don’t like girls” then sees Will’s face and immediately regrets saying it, and tries to ½ apologize.Mike literally closes his eyes and takes in a deep breath before trying to explain and rationalize what he meant.

”I’m not trying to be a jerk. Ok?

He pretty much explains, this is just the way things are-boys fall in love with girls, get girlfriends, and that’s just a part of growing up, as people/society has told them over and over (heteronormativity).

BUT We’re not kids anymore.” I mean, what did you think, really? That we were never gonna get girlfriends? We were just gonna sit in my basement all day and play games for the rest of our lives?”

-When he confesses to El : “They do say it makes you crazy…A feeling … yeah, like, something… like OLD PEOPLE say it sometimes”.

His reaction to the breakups pretty much tells us his true feelings, he wants to be in love with El, because that’s what society says is best (and what he think is a part of growing up), and what would be best for his public-image. But his actions speak louder than words.

I don’t think it was a coincidence after Mike lost Will twice the first person he goes to for understanding and comfort is his mother. Did I mention I STAN Karen with all my heart and soul! XD

- And Mike and Karen’s s1 discussion may be foreshadowing of Mike coming out to her in the future. The first time I watched it, it reminded me of a (good)coming out.

Karen: “I’m not mad at you.”

Mike: “No?”

Karen: “No, of course not!”

Karen : “All this that’s been going on with Will, I can’t imagine what it’s been like for you. I just … want you to feel like you can talk to me. I never want you to feel like you have to HIDE anything from me. I’m here for you okay?” (she even emphasizes the word ‘hide” - which is heavily queer coded). It reminded me of a parent being supportive of a coming out! She even holds his hand after this statement! But Mike lies right after this and goes back to see El (who was in his closet). He wasn’t ready for THAT discussion. But one day he might be… (hell the way Mike shyly/nervously avoids eye contact during the whole conversation only to nod unsurely at the end- makes the subtext even more clear). 

Also I’m not the only one who thought Karen’s reaction ( that awkward blink) to Ted’s joke about Mike ‘not being with a girl’ meant something… right?

Maybe (in s4) Karen will be getting divorced and give Mike advice to follow your heart (instead of what people expect of you, and not make the same mistake as her)- and this spurs his coming out.

And if you say about the shirts , “it’s not that deep, sis” or “you’re reaching.”

UM... Do you guys not remember how the Duffers used a literal blue hair-tie/bracelet to connect Hopper to his daughters?!!!!

Sarah after losing her hair due to chemo, couldn’t wear her blue hair tie anymore. So Hopper turned it into a bracelet which he wore on his wrist in every episode (for the first 2 seasons) starting from s1 ep 1. However, when Hopper (in the last ep of s2) received the official paperwork making El his daughter- the very next scene with El had her wearing Sarah’s blue bracelet. This was to signify that Hopper finally accepted El as his daughter , which is why he was willing to give the blue bracelet “back” to his daughter. All of s3 El wears the blue bracelet- and right before Hopper ‘dies’ we see Hopper and El holding hands (as the bracelet is wrapped around both their wrists) connecting them. And in the last ep of s3 , we see that El still wears the bracelet, and starts to wear Hopper’s flannel shirts again (despite getting a makeover) as a way to feel closer to him again. And the shirt she’s wearing is also THE SAME SHIRT from s2, which she holds tight to her chest thinking of Hopper!

So yeah, thinking these yellow shirts with vertical stripes - symbolize a connection between a parent and a child isn’t that far-fetched. XD

My mixed thoughts on Carol and Daryl/Caryl in s11 and the spin-off show.

 I think my thoughts are a bit unpopular or mixed.. Idk. I’m overthinking. I’m really am. LOL  It’s a long ranty post and with some spoilers and speculations! (I’m kinda a hate-watcher but I want or keep hoping for good writing. Oh I’m also more of an ensemble-show/TF fan too. So I'm like yeah u know twd/cheesey-ok-writing but I'm also taking it serious. I want good story telling/writing. Sigh, anyway.)

 So everybody have these expectations and speculations on the TWD shows and shipping Caryl of s11, Rick movies, spin-off show. I feel like Carylers are all not the same page /different opinions on it. I feel weird and awkward about it. I mean it means people are gonna agree or (majority/petty) disagree with me or not like the idea of what the future will bring. So it means that there will be some fandomwank or debbie downers around. (Idk I’m thinking of the BeIIarke fandom.) It’s like oh well...but we’re all in the same team. Well it's always just gonna be up to me deciding if I like it/trust the writers. Eh it’s just right now it’s a waiting-game on what these shows or future will be like. 

Like recently Kang mentioned Caryl as “platonic friends” (im not sure what she means..like s1-10? but she mentions them as soulmates last year) and NR talking about the Caryl spin-off show that he wanted ages ago. I think all these lil hints on what the Caryl spin-off show will be like, I don’t think they’re gonna spoil it to us and it’s also this story-plot comes after s11. So it’s like they can’t really tell us all what it’s about really. So..idk be hopeful or whatever you wanna do till the show comes. 2023. Caryl on. Fics, pls.

And there’s still s11, the series’s last season that Kang have to work on. I guess I feel I don’t know Kang well yet or trust her. So I think Kang might put a love triangle plot and tropey soapy love story going on with Caryl. Like she might want to play into it. And she might want to tease the fandom with the “will they-won’t they”.  S10c-s11f is 30 episodes that is a lot story needed going on. Eh I don’t want a love triangle plot and I hope Kang does something interesting with Caryl in s11 and make them canon! (I also want Conni3 to be like a Sasha and not  a Beth. I want Conni3 to be her own character and bond with her sister, Kelly.)  So.. it’s gonna be a lot we go through before the spin-off show.

So what I mainly want from “TWD Universe” .. And hoping for is... that I think Gimple had always planned to have these TWD shows & movies be connected like “TWD Universe”. I want the (ship canon) Caryl spin-off show connected to the Rick's story in the movies in some way and Caryl(and others) be in the movie(s) too. The spin-off show could be Caryl looking for Rick (with Lydia and Grimes kids), looking for supporters (idk like FTWD?/Morgan), OR eventually later on they helped Rick before they go be part of the movie(s). Idk just something related to Rick grimes movies. Even though like most Carol fans don't like Rick or don’t want the show to be connected at all to the other shows (and no kids). :\ IMO!

Recently I watched s10 finale, it hit me that TWD show is ending next season, s11. Like, it’s the end of seeing Team Family and the Grimes/comic-based story. The s10 finale ep kinda also pointed on what I am feeling lately on TWD show and Caryl spin-off. I actually want to see how s11/TWD/Grimes show goes and ends first. I know Caryl are already TV leads, Maggie returns, comic things and drama are back for one more season, but me as a Caryler, I’m also fan of Carol and Daryl individually. (Well I'm more a Carol stan.) Anyway I'm trying to say that I want to see how Carol's or/and Daryl's story ends in the TWD show with TF. I want it to be good writing and story. Like seeing Carol and Lydia in s10f made me cry because it was so good, but what does it mean in s11 and so on? I'm gonna miss Caryl with TF and ASZ. I’m gonna miss some things of TWD too. Idk what the Caryl spin-off show will be like exactly. Will Lydia and others be there too or ..it's the end for them s11? It's sad to me.

 I want more Carol and Lydia to well.. be like mother and daughter or friends. I think of them as “Carol and mini-Carol.” Why should I be invested in them then if it all ends next season and Carol rides off? Idk I'm like, is it bad writing if Caryl spin-off show just be Caryl road-tripping? Idk what I'm saying. I want Carol's/Daryl's story to be good and in character, in end of s11 and spin-off show. Idk... It's like, writing-wise, is Carol always meant (or it’s in-character for her story?) to then look after Lydia and grow old with TF in ASZ..Or was Carol always meant to leave to go to New Mexico away from TF and on the spin-off show( or it’s just show business?) It's almost like there's two endgames that I want with Caryl in s11 and spin-off show. There's two endings on how Caryl's journey ends with TF AND how they will be like in s11 finale/spin-off. Like there’s Caryl and TF’s story ending and Caryl’s TWD show-arcs ending. And will it be in character and be an interesting story? Sigh idk it’s just a lot of hoping and trusting on these writers, and wondering if I still like the story. A lot of changes to get through. 

 Although, I recently read some comments about Carol and Lydia and thought about s11 and the spin-off show. If Lydia isn’t part of the spin-off show, I think I would be okay, story-wise, if Lydia is always meant to be a plot to end Carol’s (TWD show)arc on TWD show. In the finale, Lydia mentioned that they don’t have to be like a mother and daughter which Carol is probably already thinking of it and had this unlucky past with kids. Lydia said they could be friends. Then Carol told Lydia to find her own path, her own way in life. I think the writers are like wrapping or going over the whole Carol and kids arc since s4. Carol have this long traumatic past with kids. Carol wants to protect her/the kids and it’s like Carol realizes that she can’t always protect them, the kids also have to be their own and survive and it’s a rough life. It’s not all Carol’s fault in a way that if/when they die. If that make sense. So with Carol and Lydia since s9f, I feel they have this different adult-kid storyline than Carol with the other kids. I see it as a Carol and mini-Carol storyline. It’s probably all about Carol and all kids/Lydia storyline too. Later in the s10f, Lydia saved Carol, like Carol saved Lydia in s9f. They’re so like similar, mirrored. I’m really interested in them. I think I would be okay if the writers focus on them in s11, if it’s about Carol’s arc-with-kids ends. She learns to not to feel like a bad mother and letting go of this protecting-kids-thing but try her best to protect them and not blame herself. Learn to see how much she grown and love herself by being around Lydia. So yeah just overthinking on this and it would be nice if the writers go there next season because it’s seems like a in-character (TWD show) arc to end for Carol. (I don’t care about Negan and I don’t want the kids with Negan. :\ I also don’t want Daryl to be friends with Negan. maybe just tolerate him.)

Another thing .. Is idk how the Caryl spin-off show will go for Carol and Daryl. At first I'm like whatever they have fun on their road trip but thinking on it and with TWD, I'm like I don't want the spin-off be like a ‘Mcreedus on the road in their costumes show’. Like that's not what the Caryl spin-off show is right? So like I'm overthinking on it I know I am but really .. Now I’m wondering how this spin-off show really goes with Carol and Daryl and still being in-character. I feel there's gonna be some main motivation or arc in spin-off show. The core storyline and character's core storyline. Idk what it is for Caryl/Carol and Daryl. I think of other shows like this and there are reasons to it. Like all of this, it's really a whole new show and it gotta start with all these usual basics in the show. I think of other shows that might be similar to the spin-off show. Right now I'm thinking Avatar:TLA and Telltale games’ (comic) Michonne or TWD game s3: New Frontier (Clementine and Javier). Lol, yeah random. These are I think traveling stories and the main characters have a motivation or whatever. And it’s a hero’s journey/redemption, finding her lil bro(AJ), or with Michonne it was going through stages of grief in six (?) episodes. So my point is I don't want the spin-off show be pointless and OOC and just Mcreedus riding around with no plot. Ok, it’s still a story about Carol and Daryl. Idk what the show’s arc will be about. Maybe it’s them helping people, them finding peace and learn to love themselves. Maybe to find Rick. Idk. I want Carol and Daryl story be good and ended good. And related to Rick's story....I kinda don't mind if Caryl bring the Grimes kids (and Lydia) along. As long as the story is good to me. So, I just wanna point out that it’s still Carol’s and Daryl’s story going on. 

Another thing with Caryl’s relationship, I'm thinking on what makes sense to me on Caryl's relationship is that if the Caryl spin-off show will be them as already a couple. Then I think Caryl should be canon in 10c or s11 finale or earlier. I think to have a spin-off be separated from main TWD, it will go smoothly to me if they are already a couple in the spin-off show. If they don't then I feel the writers lost their chance and/or baiting shippers. I don't feel like waiting for them to be canon in spin-off show, because it's like previous TWD seasons. I find it tiring and boring and it’s the same as before. If they're confirmed as just friends then I feel that the characters' story is wasted or shorten/OOC. They deserved more in their life. It’s not good writing or story to me. And if one finds a bf or gf like... who wants to see that and I guess we assume it won't last that long because Caryl are the mains. It would be OOC to me and not interesting. Anyway, I hope Caryl are a canon couple in the spin-off show by then. Oh I also think the show would be at least 2 seasons. But you know show business u never know.

that’s the end of s2! that was a much better finale than s1 and it’s definitely the best ep of the series so far. there’s a lot of exciting turns AND WHAT EVEN IS THE ENDING??? you knocked it out of the park mofftiss! i can’t wait to see what s3 has in store besides mary, drunk times and the wedding!
