this might be nothing but i'm back onto hollowpox and noticed how conall says "we don't engage in formalities here, wundersmith" and then either mostly or completely refers to morrigan as wundersmith and then maud lowry says that that is her title but it might start being more and more part of her identity or something
amendment to the last ask: conall mostly calls her wundersmith rather than completely because he calls her morrigan a little while on in the chapter about ghostly hours at least
When Jess said in the recent Q&A that we’d start exploring Nevermoor “more politically and socially”, I really hope part of it will be exploring Wundersmiths, their role in society, and how different people or groups view them.
For Sub-Nine members, Wundersmiths are Other and seem to be almost mystical. They’re all so excited to have an actual Wundersmith in the flesh for once and not just a memory or words in a history book.
With Maud, I think as a politician she knows the most about what it means to be someone that people will look towards to do things, and about responsibility, and how Mog might even start to confuse herself as a person and herself as a Wundersmith as she goes on. But also I wonder what other possibly sinister aspects to Maud there could be, and if she has any of her own ulterior motives re: Morrigan, the Wundersmith.
Now that people outside of Wunsoc know Mog is a Wundersmith, and people inside Wunsoc understood better after she relit the Fireblossoms, it’ll be interesting to see both how Society members and the public view and treat her. Thinking about that Holliday Wu snippet— what are her PR plans for Morrigan?

for the choose violence ask game:
8. common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about
12. the unpopular character that you actually like and why more people should like them
Already answered 12, so I'll just do 8. It's been a while since I watched/read these things, so my memory is a bit rusty :/
[The Owl House]
-That Evelyn & Caleb are all that interesting lol. They practically took over the fandom (/hyperbole) when those portraits of them were showed, but I've never once found them that fun to think about. I don't know what it is that's grabbing other people and not me, but I just have zero thoughts about these people.
At least Belos is a fun character, so some fanart exploring him and Caleb's relationship is enjoyable, but other than his relation to Belos, IDC about Caleb. I care about Evelyn even less, and never cared about her being a Clawthorne either.
We got like, 2 minutes max of screentime of these guys, and 90% of it is just photos of them. We didn't even get to know them as characters. There's barely anything to talk about with them
-I don't think everyone is wrong about this (so doesn't really belong on this question?), but that Amity &/or Hunter are autistic. I don't necessarily disagree with this opinion, I just never picked up on that myself. I've seen people call them "autism coded" and I'm like "...where?" If I went looking for posts abt it, I'm sure I could get on board w/ it though
-Any romantic ship with Willow bc that girl is aromantic (Dana told me herself /j)
[Nevermoor]
That Ezra Squall is in any way good or redeemable. This is a divisive opinion in the fandom itself, so not "everyone", but as it stands in the series, I am nottt on board with this yet. If that's the direction Jess wants to take the story, I trust her to do a good job with it, but from what we've been presented of Ezra so far, I don't think he is good nor will become good.
I found the split between "Ezra the boy" and "Ezra the monster" and if those lines blur pretty fun to read, and I'm curious to find out if he has any motivations for the massacre (or any of the other stuff he did) besides power hunger. If it turns out he's just been unfairly villianized, manipulated, or just misunderstood, it'd have to be really well written or I'd be disappointed lol. I simply find him more fun as a villian
[The Walking Dead]
Prolly weird to bring this up out of nowhere, since I don't think I've ever spoken about it on Tumblr, but I am indeed a TWD fan.
Shane is a bitch ass motherfucker and not remotely fun to watch. Every second he's on screen he's nothing but a pain in the ass. I love Rick, so whenever he and Rick are arguing (which is constantly), I just want him to SHUTTT UPPPPPP. He keeps wanting to control the group in ways I hated, and is a bit too content with killing people to meet the ends. (For example, when he shoots a guy he's out on a supply run with JUST so the zombies will stop and eat him and let Shane run away?? He could'a just shot them when he'd gotten back on the bus, but nah, he had to kill his companion and wasn't even honest about it to the rest of the group.)
Some people say Rick is like this too, but he doesn't truly get murderous until several seasons of being the leader of a survivor group in a zombie apocalypse. And whenever he gets content with killing people, it's not framed as a good thing, it's a consequence of the stress, hurt, and lack of trust that builds up in the apocalypse. Rick is at his best when he's extending a hand to other survivors. Shane didn't even make it past S2 before being okay with unnecessary killing.
(Do note that sometimes, Rick killing people is a good thing. For example, when a group of men attacked the fam and one man attempted to rape Rick's son, to which he proceeded to rip out one man's throat with his teeth. That was quite cool of him.)
People who like Shane tend to also be unfairly judgemental of Lori, in my experience. Either because she started a relationship with him while being married or because she later wanted to end that relationship.
She started a relationship with him because she believed her husband was dead. Shane was even the one who told her he was. In her eyes, she was single again. It's fine of her to have sex with any other man at this point, and to slowly start viewing him as family, even letting him get close to her son.
When her thought-to-be-dead husband waltzes up to the survivor group, very much alive, though, it's reasonable she would want to be in a relationship with her husband again. It is also reasonable that she doesn't want her apocalypse fling to be a father figure to her son when his actual father turned out to be alive. She isn't unreasonable for ending the relationship with Shane, nor for not wanting him to act as Carl's father anymore. Shane doesn't have any right to act as the father to her son.
There may be other reasons to criticise her (she died pretty early on and I haven't seen TWD in a while so IDK) but if anyone criticizes her for either of these reasons they r wrong <3
Conclusion: Shane was an infuriating character and I'm glad he died

Okay so, hear me out. Ezra Squall is Morrigan Crow’s grandfather.
So he and Ornella dated, becaus he’s that old, and even if she wasn’t as old as him, he’d have not been aging. So Ornella and Ezra had baby Corvus, and Ornella’s parents disowned her when they found out she was expecting.
Ezra bought her Crow Manor, so she could live somewhere, and he’d never let his love have a small, dirty apartment somewhere. He always made sure Ornella had wundrous energy to run her home.
Ezra told Ornella about the free state - she had to find out about it somehow. Ornella heard stories about his friends, and asked what became of them. Ezra tried to lie, but Ornella was a scary ass lady, and she got the truth out of him eventually. She banished him from the premises, and because he had given her legal ownership of her home, he couldn’t even take that back.
Ezra stayed in love with Ornella, and kept sending her free wundrous energy. She never talked to him again, and made sure nobody knew that she knew him. Corvus never knew his father, and he never knew how to be a father. Ornella neglected him, as he reminded her of Ezra, so he never knew how to parent.
Ezra sent Ornella a letter, saying Morrigan was a wundersmith and he was taking her for his apprentice, but Ornella wouldn’t have that. She made an agreement with him that he would wait eventide. When Jupiter North contacted Ornella, she agreed that he could take Morrigan as she had no desire to put her granddaughter in the hands of a wundersmith killer if morrigan was a wundersmith. Ezra was so angry when Morrigan escaped he cut off the crows energy.
When Morrigan came home on the gossamer, Ornella was sure Ezra would come to take her. She panicked and told Morrigan to leave.
Ezra was transitioning between being Ezra the boy - he still had some good in him - and Squall the monster, when Ornella dumped him and sped up the transition.
There you go. Ezra Squall is Morrigans grandfather

one of these days i'm actually gonna write meta on squall and how while he's definitely a terrible person, a lot of his villainous side is just an act he's putting on that has a million cracks in it and completely falls apart in moments when he's caught unprepared. ezra the boy peaking through the mask of squall the monster

so i’ve been doing a lot of thinking about ezra squall.
i think it’s a given that there is more to the courage square massacre than we’ve been told so far. i think the situation is more complicated than we realize. something about the way he reacted when morrigan asked him why -- that was the first time i think she actually managed to get to him. and from what we’ve seen, wunsoc as an institution is fucked. (like... it’s really no place for children, let’s be honest.) there are good things about it, and good people within it, but the system’s a mess, and the people calling the shots are coldly pragmatic at best. plus, when squall warned morrigan that the elders would throw her under the bus if it suited them... that seemed like he was talking from personal experience. so while i doubt his actions will ever be justified, i do think there’s a more human explanation somewhere in there.
building off of that... why is squall so desperate to return to nevermoor? i don’t think it’s as simple as wanting revenge; frankly, i don’t think squall’s that dumb. he has a cushy gig in the wintersea republic, and he can live openly and be left alone--and, next to the president, he is unquestionably the most powerful person there. everyone in the republic (so far as we know) would be completely out of their depths when dealing with a wundersmith if he really wanted to cause some pain. it’d be perfectly doable and sensible for him to cut his losses and stay out of nevermoor, and he’d be putting himself at far less risk.
something about the way he talks about nevermoor, the way he's been visiting for years--i think there is some genuine sentimental attachment there. i’m not sure squall could love a person, but i do think he could love a place, especially a place he saw as a reflection of himself (similar to how whatever regard he has for mog is seeing his own qualities in her). i think, as much or perhaps even more than he wants revenge or to take over, squall wants to go home. (i mean, he should’ve thought of that before he killed eight people. but you see my point.)
which leads me to my theory: squall’s not from the free state.
partially this would just be an interesting connection between him and morrigan, another way that they’re similar. but depending on what his life from wherever he’s from was like, and why he came to nevermoor, it could be that nevermoor is, to him, representative of his shiny new life, the life where he was appreciated and flourished. and this of course raises the question: how did the free state treat outsiders back then? was he smuggled in, too? or is his massacre part of what made them become so isolationist?
idk, i just feel like... if i’m right, the circumstances behind his arrival in nevermoor could be a key part of what turned him from ezra the boy into squall the monster.

ACTUALLY !!!!! that could explain why she got so attached to the ghostly hours !!! bc she DID recognise those people, n to some extent they HAD been her friends, maybe they’d even been HER. that could also explain y she separated ezra the boy vs squall the monster. she knew him when he was young n what he was doin was literally against how she had once known him !!!
the theory i promised
WARNING: MAJOR HOLLOWPOX SPOILERS AHEAD
So the grand reveal for the theory i promised is….
I believe the Wundersmiths reincarnate.
now before you go and call me an idiot i would like to point something out, there are always nine Wundersmiths at a time. there werre the original nine wundersmiths and if everyone would please look back to chapter 19 there is a part of the book where morrigan reads off nine names together and states that she believes they are from the same era of wundersmiths  (this era of wundersmiths being the one ezra squall is from). we also get a list of nine wundersmiths from the Age of prisoners. (if your too lazy to go back through the book to find this, im going to put a link to the wiki page that has these names)
so we know that there are always nine wundersmiths, while not exactly confirmed its pretty evident in itself, so lets get on to my next point… Eventide.
i always found it odd that the wundersmiths were born on eventide (at first i had assumed that i was because eventide had a higher wunder consentration then any other day of the age or somthing like that) but lets say that in order to reincarnate your next life has to be born on the same day of the year that you died, if the courage square massacre happened on the same day Eventide happens every new age then that would explain the why of wundersmiths being born on eventide. there is also evidence to back this up, if we look at pg. 236 of Hollowpox we actually get to see the date of the courage square massacre, happening in winter of nine age of the east winds. and when is Eventide? Winter. we dont get a specific day with the date morrigan gives so it could really be any day, the only thing inconsistent is that its the winter of nine rather then winter of twelve or eleven (generally how long an age lasts) but the thing is it dosen’t matter. as long as the courage square massacre is on the same day eventide would happen in a few years and squall starts killing on eventide each age then nothing changes. squall is able to easily hunt them all because as long as he keeps them dying on the same day and they are publically documented as cursed children he dosent have to waste any evergy looking for them.
its a genius plan that i would be applauding if it wern’t so morbid and morally wrong.
another point i have for this comes from sofia, pg. 138 of hollowpox sofia states “it’s like remembering you’ve been able to speak another language all along”, almost like she hinting at what i’ve theorised. possibly foreshadowing on Jessica Townsend’s part.
now obviously there are some plot holes to this theory, for example, if they were to all reincarnate then why is Morrigan the only Wundersmith from her age? there were only three other cursed children, that’s not enough to even have eight more wundersmith’s even if they all had that same ability. so what gives? why is morrigan the only one? i dont have an evidence based answer for that, all i can do is give speculation. my best guess is that only one wundersmith can be born in a certain time frame, combine that with “must be born on the day you died” rule, then that means only one wundersmith can be born per year. that however dosent fix the fact that a wundersmith could be born the next year (not on eventide) so im not really sure. if anyone has any of their own explainations for that missing piece let me know!
dont take this too seriously tho, after all its just a theory…
A BOOK THEORY thanks for reading.

I think it has something to do with the parallels between the chapters          Ezra the Boy and Squall the Monster. I think the helper part of his first name would have more to do with who he was as a kid, rather than in the present?
So Ezra roughly means helper, and Jess has said it has a reason.
What is he going to help with?
