Do you have any favorite traditional fantasy novels? I’ve read the Kushiel’s Dart & Captive Prince series and am on the lookout for more.

Those are two of the series I would have recommended! To be honest, I haven't read a lot of traditional (I assume you mean classic second world adventure fantasy) fantasy since i was teen: I tend to be more drawn to contemporary fantasy, urban fantasy, weird fiction, slipstream, and similar genres right now. But I'm leaning back into reading some of the classics as I go.

I read a good chunk of Mistborn and loved the magic system and the worldbuilding and just stopped because I had trouble connecting to the characters, so that might be a good book for another reader. I of course love Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicle's books but those are more gothic fiction, hmm....Honestly I think Hannah's Whitten's Nightshade Crown series captures the feel and sweep of classic fantasy with a super lush, atmospheric, romantic twist. Similar, The Seven Deaths of the Saint by Alix Harrow is yes, experimental and a bit more literary, but you cannot tell me it doesn't capture the mythic, world-ending, out-of-time quality of classic fantasy.

whats the deal with the Dead rising akuma mentioned in Lila & alix's character things?

my inspirations switch rapidly, and I was watching dead rising videos at the time, so I needed to add one.

For the actual akuma, I haven’t decided who’s akumatised. But they’d been playing it and got scared. As a result it creates a perfect recreation of the first game’s environment and psychopaths.

It’s another way to show how much of a dickhead Gabriel is because he purposefully leaves Andre to die in city hall, hoping that the stress would finally kill him. Felix heads out to make sure Andre doesn’t die, and takes Lila and Alix because they’ve played this game to death. Plus Lila’s his girlfriend by this point.

For Andre killing one of the psychopaths, He genuinely doesn’t mean to, it was an accident. And it acts as some sloppy foreshadowing towards the end of the au.

'The present is the only constant I can rely on,' Alix answered wryly. 'The present is wherever I am right now, the past is where I was, and the future is where I will be. The past could be three thousand years from now, and the future could be two hundred years ago. If I try to think of time as chronological, I'd have gone insane ages ago. As a famous British character once said, think of it more as "a big ball of wibbley-wobbly timey-wimey stuff".'

She chuckled to herself. Turns out Doctor Who made discussing time-travel and the experience thereof a lot easier.

'Why d'you ask?' she said, turning to the young man next to her. 'Are you "slipping from the present"?'

All humour dissipated into the air and floated away as she regarded him. Ever since she left her normal life behind for one hopping across time and space, she had made occasional visits to her friends when it was safe to do so - she was strict about her visits, making sure it was completely safe before venturing homeward, and if she only had, say, twenty-eight minutes to enjoy her friends' company, she'd be popping back into the Burrow by the twenty-seventh minute. Sometimes she'd see one friend or family member, other times a group of them, and while she enjoyed every second with them, it made parting all the more gut-wrenching. Most visits had either Adrien, Luka, or Marinette checking in with her about how she was coping, and that's how she built up a strong friendship with the guitarist. He was the one who understood the best what she was feeling, what she was going through, and his support was a godsend. But now, it seemed, it was time to return the favour.

'Luka, what's wrong?'

'Something's... wrong,' he answered, looking rather peaky. 'Ever since Monarch was defeated, there's been this... sense of wrongness. Like... the world's axis has shifted. Like the sky is a little too close to the ground. Like the sun is now rising in the south and setting in the north. Something about our world post-Monarch isn't right.' Luka sighed wearily. 'I've barely been able to get a good night's sleep since. I've been constantly on edge. There's this crawling under my skin that's never-ending. I just... I can't- I...'

As Luka's fingers dragged through his hair in frustration, Alix frowned. Luka was well-known for being super in-tune with people and the world, and it is what made him such an unique and awesome person, and for her, a fabulous companion. She found his insight invaluable, and trusted him when he said something was off.

Suddenly, she felt exposed. She thought she'd be safe, visiting home, but now, she could have put herself, her friends, her family, the world in terrible danger. She felt like she could be sick.

'I- I'll look into it,' she promised.

'Please,' he begged, his voice trembling. 'I... please.'

She hugged him, sitting there in the uneasy silence for a few minutes more, until her alarm to leave went off. Quietly, she untangled from him and stood.

'I promise, Luka, I'll get to the bottom of this,' she told him, before walking down the stairs into the boat, transforming, and darting into her Burrow. She had work to do.

Ohhhh yes I have a fic about them buried in the depths of my WIP folder from. Uhhh. 2021?

Alix and Kagami first meet when Alix accepts a dare to graffiti the Tsurugi household. Kagami watches from a distance, fascinated by the street art, and she wants to know more.

Kagami approaches Alix, and Alix is a little weirded out by her intensity at first, but Kagami mostly wants to observe her at work in the art room, so she allows it.

Eventually Alix invites Kagami over to her house, and Kagami immediately hits it off with Alim; she loves learning about art history, and would adore having a job in a museum. Also, they bond over making fun of Jalil because he's a tool by any measure.

Hi anon! The answer is yes and no!

Alix’s nickname as a kid was in fact Sunny because of her sunny disposition and her happy personality. That was until her mother and sister tragically died of Diphtheria and she turned into a quiet and sad child. She was still called Sunny but more commonly was called Alicky by her Grandmother Queen Victoria and others.

I have actually never heard of Alix calling Nicky Lovey! It could’ve been a possible pet name but to my knowledge she only really consistently!called him Nicky.

Aya adores Alix and Jalil. Since Nathaniel was an only child and had trouble making friends, she and Maison never minded when the two came over

They and Alim also got along well, often watching period films over drinks while Jalil makes sure Alix and Nathaniel don’t start a fire

The three of them were actually pretty close in their twenties

The three of them were just as devastated when Maison died. He was like Alix and Jalil’s uncle, so of course they went to his funeral

Hehehe I'm going to answer for everyone! Thank you for giving me the option (that is also why this is so much later than the other replies to this ask game lol, there's so many of them)

Bug

Bug is mostly vegetarian when they're free. It's a choice they make to remember that they're free – they can make their own decisions about their diet, therefore they're free. Kind of similar reason to why they change their hairstyle completely every few months, although that one's partly just for fun.

Alix

She has multiple cupboards of spices and seasonings, as well as dried ingredients (she'll buy fresh when she needs it but otherwise, might as well buy in bulk). She enjoys cooking for everyone. More than that, she loves finding out what someone likes best (through detective work and sleuthery such as asking "what do you like to eat?" and then building on that) and making it for them. She thinks everyone deserves food that makes them feel good. Especially her rescues.

Shaniqua

She enjoys cooking, although she doesn't do it frequently. She tends to cook in bulk when she's off and freezes it all, then her and Bill can just microwave meals for a few weeks. She has a set of crockery and cutlery from her parents when she and Bill bought their house together, which she keeps in good condition and still uses regularly. After years in food service, Shaniqua appreciates waiters enough to tip very well when she eats out.

Bill

He mostly eats fast food if left to his own devices, and doesn't like cooking (he doesn't see the point when he can buy whatever he likes readymade anyway). The exception's a BBQ, which he likes grilling at although often gets distracted easily. Especially if it's a BetterPets BBQ...

O

O loves apples. Absolutely adores them. Its favourites are early discoveries and coxes, but any are nice so long as they're crisp and juicy. It liked apples before the one Bug gave it (the first actual food it had had in a long time), but that certainly helped cement apples as one of its favourites.

It would like to grow an apple tree, but its plot of garden is probably not big enough. Probably.

Max

Soft ice cream is his favourite food. He enjoys trying out all different kinds of food, mostly bc he hasn't had anything decent in a while – his owners replaced his teeth with metal spike implants to make him look more intimidating, and it made it hard for him to eat, especially in the time frame allotted to him. If he got too undernourished he'd be given liquid, which tasted horrible, or tube fed. Basically, what I'm saying is that now he can eat actual food and take as long as he likes to do so, he really enjoys trying out new food!

Maria

Greek food! She's Greek, they worked that out fairly early on, and she's determined to reconnect with her culture. Whenever it's her turn to cook she tries out different Greek and other Mediterranean dishes, with varied success.

Mary

Her favourite sweets are Werther's Originals. It's the only thing she put on the customisation form for Bug, bc the care home staff insisted she put something and she didn't want Bug hurt. She likes sharing sweets with Bug and Alix, and really anyone who wants one and is a decent person.

For meals, she likes old British staples like bangers and mash.

Jane

Loves tea and biscuits! Traditional biscuits like digestives especially. Anyone who visits or lives with her will be given tea and biscuits.

Oscar

Oscar likes food best when fae can enjoy it with others. Fae likes good food anyway, but not so much when fae has to eat it alone. Fae likes to share it, so faer favourites are things like sharing platters, meze, stuff like that. Fae's also a big fan of potlucks.

Michaela

She has a sweet tooth, and enjoys all things sugary! She also likes baking, although it's often hard to find the time to make anything complex, like she'd like to.
