Hello everybody I'm Cayo (they/them) and it's my pleasure to bring you Lim Namgyu AKA Agent Figaro ( originally skeleton ADVOCATE ) He is the dependable but cranky man that cleans up the legal aftermath of missions and that makes sure your character sees another day without prison bars blocking their view! It's grueling work and he's one headache away from losing it, but he's pretty damn good at what he does. I'm looking forward to plotting and chatting with everyone very soon—my discord is my preferred point of contact and will be available upon request, but I can use IMs as well if it's more convenient for you.

Origin Overview —

-Lim Namgyu is the son of two previously powerful lawyers that spent more time dedicated to their jobs than they spent raising him. Early on, he has to foster a sense of independence, surviving on the echoes of two nearly imperceivable people who were supposed to love him. He lives a financially stable life, but it's a lonely one that hardly opens up the windows for entertaining luxuries even if they could technically afford them.

-Late in his childhood, both parents are convicted for unjust law practices favoring some of South Korea's most notorious crime syndicates and while the realization of their wrongdoings stuns him, he can't find it in himself to grieve for people who were hardly there to begin with. He is taken in by his paternal aunt and his elderly grandmother shortly after. They show more interest and care for him in the span of his first year with them than he thinks he's ever experienced in his whole time living under his parents' roof, if that were to be considered truly living at all.

-That care is what pushes his aunt to heavily discourage Namgyu from following in his parents' footsteps. But when he gives in to his natural inclination for studying law in part to years of exposure to the lifestyle, the book of his future already begins to write itself. He exceeds the benchmarks his mother and father set when he enrolls in the same law school they attended, graduating and quickly being swept up into some of the biggest civil cases Seoul has to offer at the time. This garners him plenty of attention, even more so when the court rules in his favor.

-Because of this publicity, a senior agent from Aegis approaches him in the bustle of an emptying court room, under the guise of paying him for his time and dedication to an embezzlement case while the dust still settles around them. With the check that gets tucked into his suit, is a business card. With the exchange, memorable words that stay with Namgyu to this day:

"You want to do something actually good in this city, kid? Give me a call."

-It only takes a week for him to mull over dialing the number and over a drink shared at the Obsidian Lounge, Lim Namgyu is recruited into Aegis as their primary legal consultant and crisis manager. In present time, he is going on his sixth year with the organization.

Character overview —

-He's usually never a friendly face to happen upon in the halls of Aegis International, mostly because he's exhausted but also because he can't seem to ever separate his personal life from his business matters; making sense of and justifying some of the more convoluted happenings in the agency has left him in a seemingly perpetual state of cold indifference. Though, some would say he loosens up over a dirty martini from time to time or that he might crack a smile if given praise over coffee. These allegations, however, could be entirely false, and just a way to make Agent Figaro feel less like a heavy gavel to the temple and more like a colleague that cares. It would entirely be up to a curious individual to find out for themselves.

-Don't ask questions you don't want factual answers to, devoid of empathy. Hypotheticals leave too much space for Namgyu to interject with legal jargon—he's not fun at parties and that is precisely why he normally never gets an invite.

-Caffeine and spite fuels him through his days of paperwork, discussing and debriefing whatever the agency needs him to oversee and sitting through hours long discovery sessions with Seoul's most prestigious defense attorneys. Yes your call is going to voicemail so either send it in an email or say whatever you need to say to his face.

-He has a sweet tooth and a poor habit of leaving the evidence all over his desk. If you have a problem with clutter he will simply ask you to just avert your eyes since it's his space you're intruding anyway. He's too busy to use the trashcan at the other end of his study.

-Namgyu is normally holed up in his office most days or harrassing other intelligence and analysis operatives on others in order to help fill out holes in his documents. No stone left unturned heavily applies to his line of work, specifically if those details could mean keeping his colleagues out of hot water.

-He leaves little to be desired in terms of self defense but he does thankfully know how to use a firearm if he absolutely has to. Normally, Agent Figaro will tow a field operative with him if his business requires him to leave the confines of headquarters to ensure he has the manpower to overcome any threats that may follow being a man in his position.

-Don't bring up his parents' fall from grace and he won't bring up the theoretical criminal record that he's managed to protect you from strangling your career with.

-While he was initially raised well to do, he was not given many opportunities as a child to actually realize it. This made transitioning to live with his single-income aunt easy to do and has translated to a quiet appreciation for the finer things in these years that he's been able to afford them. One point of pride specifically would be a thick, golden watch on his left wrist.

Wanted Connections !

I've been more partial to brainstorming lately as I think it brings out equally interesting and unique aspects to all characters involved, but for now I'm itching for the following and this list is subject to change (likely further elaboration when I have a better idea of how Namgyu functions)—

◇ You both existed frequently in the same spaces before being recruited into Aegis International. This would be applicable to characters that were either constantly in need of legal consultation because of how involved they were in local crime within his district or characters who were active in Law Enforcement. If it's the latter, and you took your job seriously than he likely has a positive view of you! If it's the former than it might be more of a complicated relationship.

◇ Late Nights, No stars in the concrete jungle. Smoke breaks feet away from the Obsidian lounge bouncer to feel human again. You both don't often say much when you're together but there's something in the way your eyes mirror each other that doesn't need words. Perhaps one day you're not in your usual prowling area or vice versa and they have to actually find each other to initiate their quiet rituals. Are we going to talk about how we've made a habit of each other?

◇ He wont leave you alone because you're a walking legal disaster that keeps things too close to your chest, hardly wiping the blood off of your shoes when you walk past his office. Namgyu knows you don't like him, but unlucky for you he also doesn't care.

◇You're often the first person called upon to accompany him on his legal outings and because of that you either loathe him and wish desperately that he would learn how to better defend himself so you didn't have to be subject to awkwardly trailing after him all day, or you've grown fond of the peaceful silence he offers in the hustle of your normal schedule.

Something that's always bugged me a little about Final Fantasy VI is that in game we're never told what it was that Celes did to be slated for execution. It would have had to be something serious, given that she's successfully invaded both Maranda and now South Figaro for the Empire, yet there's not even a hint of what it was. You'd think someone would at least mention it, right?

What's more, we already know that the Emperor doesn't just waste his superweapons. That's what Slave Crowns are for.

Maybe she objected to the Emperor's plans, but that seems unlikely given that she's infamous for torching Maranda to conquer it. She did that with nary a complaint, but objects when she's handed South Figaro on a silver platter thanks to the traitor? I don't buy it.

However, there is another possibility. Locke, master spy, has been in South Figaro for a significant amount of time when we start his scenario and he decides it's time to leave. He could have easily forged a letter ordering her death as the final thing he'd do in town before bugging out.

This would explain why Celes is confused enough to go along with Locke's bullshit even as she repeatedly insists that she's an Imperial general - she genuinely has no idea what the hell happened.

That does raise the obvious question of why he saved her after arranging her demise, but that can be explained away by his Tragic Backstory kicking in after he sees her chained up and realizes, "Shit. The General is an eighteen year old woman. The same age as Rachel. Goddamnit."

Likewise, this explains why he buys Kefka's bullshit about Celes being a double agent in the Magitek Factory despite a complete lack of evidence and Kefka being as reliable as a three dollar coin: he knows she never betrayed the Empire in the first place. Ditto for why Kefka and the Emperor give her the opportunity to prove her loyalty by killing the Returners on the Floating Continent: they would have had the opportunity to discover the forged order by now, so they know her initial betrayal was caused by enemy action.

8 - A Great Journalist? Posters say "No"!

The reasons of the valdalism seem to be always the same: the constant tribute to the memory of an awful journalist, who was also a (ex) fascist, anticommonist, racist and colonialist.

Indro Montanelli only merit was surviving a terrorist attack from Red Brigades as a result of his being a right-wing journalist with a fascist past never fully denied. Unfortunately when they shot in the legs, they turn him into a freedom martyr, who Montanelli was not.

Here there are some examples of what I'm talking about:

1. “We will never be rulers if we do not have the exact awareness of our fatal superiority. He does not fraternize with niggers. You can't, you shouldn't. At least until a civilization has been given to them. […] This war is for us like a nice long holiday given to us by the Gran Babbo (Mussolini) as a reward for thirteen years of school. And, said among us, it was time. None of us hope that the war will end, we have only one desire: to continue!"      (Indro Montanelli, article published on Fascist Civilization, 1936)

“Non si sarà mai dei dominatori, se non avremo la coscienza esatta di una nostra fatale superiorità. Coi negri non si fraternizza. Non si può, non si deve. Almeno finché non si sia data loro una civiltà. […] Questa guerra è per noi come una bella lunga vacanza dataci dal Gran Babbo (Mussolini) in premio di tredici anni di scuola.  2. On the use, removed for decades, of lethal chemical weapons during the Ethiopian war, Montanelli stubbornly stood on a denial line. In the end, after the Dini government in 1995-96, definitively clarified the modalities and dimensions of the use of aggressive chemicals, he had to apologize.

3. "Captain, it's a senseless sentence," he wrote to Priebke - German war criminal, Gestapo agent and captain of the SS during the Second World War, responsable of the Fosse Ardeatine massacre, a reprisal for an Italian partisan attack on German troops. 335 men were executed, 10 italian civilians for each German soldier who had been killed in the attack - in 1996, "As an old soldier, and even of an Army very different from yours, I know very well that you could not do anything other than what you did [...] Best wishes, Mr. Captain ".

  4.  Montanelli wrote to the US ambassador Clare Booth Luce in 1954, informing her of the formation of a paramilitary anti-communist organization and asking her to guarantee the help of the American army in terms of arms, fleet and aviation: “If at the next election a Popular Front however constituted popular reached the majority, what Scelba [ Mario Scelba (5 September 1901 – 29 October 1991) was an Italian politician who served as the 33rd Prime Minister of Italy from February 1954 to July 1955] would do? It would deliver power, and it would be the end ... Any man of government, even non-Christian Democrats today, would surrender for the total impossibility of carrying out a coup d'etat ... The police and the army are polluted with communism. The carabinieri without the King, have lost every bite. And across the country there is no force capable of supporting the action of a resolute man. We must create this force. You can't go wrong looking at the history of our country, which is that of an abuse imposed by a minority of one hundred thousand sticks. Majorities in Italy have never counted: they have always been in tow with this handful of men who did everything with violence, the unification of Italy, its wars and its revolutions. This minority still exists and is not a communist [...] Faced with this reality, I find myself in this dilemma: to defend Democracy until accepting, for it, the death of Italy; or defend Italy to accept, or even hasten, the death of Democracy? My choice is made. "

Questa minoranza esiste ancora e non è comunista […] Di fronte a questa realtà, mi trovo in questo dilemma: difendere la Democrazia fino ad accettare, per essa, la morte dell’Italia; o difendere l’Italia fino ad accettare, o anche affrettare, la morte della Democrazia? "                                                       N.B: Althought Montanelli portrays in a very negative way the end of the traditional view of women as “virgins” or “whores” - I Think he would be glad to know that in Italy this way to see women in society never really ended - and also called feminists and abolitionists “churchy” - even if he ws the one who actually defended brothels and forced prostitution to protect the Church and the traditional families -, he wrote unitentionally some good point of feminism goals!

6. "Ah! Sicily! - he states in February 1960 in an interview with the prestigious French magazine Le Figaro Letteraire - You have Algeria, we have Sicily. But you are not obliged to tell the Algerians that they are French. We, an aggravating circumstance, are obliged to grant the Sicilians the quality of Italians".

7. Oxford riot, September 1962. Segregationists protest against the enrollment of James Meredith, the first black man to do so, at the University of Mississippi. The clashes make 2 dead and 300 injured. This is the comment of Indro Montanelli, in the Corriere della Sera of October 3, 1962: “(...) Little by little America is realizing that with this problem it must live together because it cannot solve it. Or rather, it can solve it only in the legal context of equality of civil rights. Biologically, no. Because it will be unfair, it will be repugnant, it will be rationally inexplicable and unacceptable; but it is a fact that mingling with blacks has given catastrophic results wherever it has been practiced. I know I say a heresy, for the times that are running, but I prefer heresy to hypocrisy.”

(...) Piano piano l'America sta rendendosi conto che con questo problema essa deve convivere perché non lo può risolvere. O meglio, lo può risolvere solo nell'ambito giuridico della parità dei diritti civili. Biologicamente, no. Perché sarà ingiusto, sarà ripugnante, sarà razionalmente inesplicabile e inaccettabile; ma è un fatto che il meticciato coi neri ha dato risultati catastrofici dovunque lo si è praticato. So di dire un'eresia, per i tempi che corrono, ma preferisco l'eresia all'ipocrisia.

8. Backed by Giorgio Bocca, he called the journalist de l'Unità Tina Merlin, who denounced the human faults in the Vajont Disaster [ On 9 October 1963, during initial filling, a landslide caused a megatsunami in the lake in which 50 million cubic metres of water overtopped the dam in a wave of 250 metres (820 ft), leading to the complete destruction of several villages and towns, and 1,917 deaths. He will make amends twice, in 1997 and 1998, from La Stanza di Montanelli in Corriere della Sera, confessing two serious faults: to have arrived on the spot without knowing anything about the dam and to have taken a totally ideological position in favor of the responsible company, Sade, only because it is contrary to the nationalization of electricity.

9. In a cable of January 12, 1978, declassified by US Government and published by WikiLeaks, called "Montanelli sees the blood ahead", US diplomats report in Washington in 1978 what they define the "tactics" of the journalist: blackmailing the DCs [Demo-Christian Party] ready to make concessions to the communists and sink Berlinguer to return the PCI [Italian Communist Party] to the hard line. Going back to the hard line, the next step would be a civil conflict, in which the PCI would be destroyed. Perhaps - says the journalist - Italy would have a Pinochet-like democracy. That would be a hellish prospect, but better than a government with the PCI.

10.  In the Giornale of 24 October 1980 Montanelli wrote - inventing a source - that he had known, eleven years earlier, that is, immediately after the massacre in Piazza Fontana, that Pinelli, police informer, had confided to Commissioner Calabresi that the anarchists were preparing "something big". Then, when Calabresi, who obviously had recorded everything, made him feel the tape, Pinelli, not resisting the idea that his companions qualified him as informer, would have thrown himself out the window.  Needless to say, they were all lies. Called to answer his statements in court Montanelli had to repeatedly apologize, admit that he was wrong, that he was misunderstood, that he did not express himself well, that he invented relevant details from a healthy point of view. In front of the judges he had to take everything back, so much so that the attorney general said "And since I was a boy I always gave him a kind of myth, today this myth has collapsed". "When he wrote unpredictably, on his admission, to be interrogated as witnesses in a public trial ... therefore with the inevitable consequence of being misguided. On the other hand, he threw the thesis back into circulation and he loved the responsibility of the anarchists in the massacre" .

-INTERVIEW - In competition for four Oscars, Luca Guadagnino's film will be released this Wednesday. -Unveiled at the Sundance Festival in January 2017, Call me by your name has offered its stars an incessant world tour. Despite fatigue and jet lag, no weariness was visible to the accomplice duo who responded with enthusiasm and jocularity to our questions.

- LE FIGARO - Call me by your name took more than eight years to mount. Initially the adaptation of Andre Aciman's novel was to be brought to the screen by James Ivory. Then producer, Luca Guadagnino was propelled coscenarist and director. When did you join the adventure?

-TIMOTHEE CHALAMET - I met Luca when I was 17 in 2013. The only reason I got this appointment when I had no experience was that I had the same agent as Tilda Swinton with whom Luca had just turned A bigger splash (laughs). At the time, there was no scenario yet. I borrowed André Aciman's novel from the library of my university. I discovered a rare role for an actor of my age. Elio is an authentic and sincere description of the obsession that can accompany the awakening to sensuality. There was the added complexity of playing a contradictory character and very intellectual.

-ARMIE HAMMER - I met Luca seven or eight years ago. He liked The social network and came to Los Angeles to meet me. We had a fabulous 4:30 hours conversation about art, cinema, philosophy, literature. I said to myself: "I hit the nail, I had the role". Then no more news ... Until two years ago. I wanted to say yes immediately. My agent was worried and encouraged me to read the script: but even with a love scene with a peach, I was going!

-Do you have much in common with your characters?

-AH - Very much. Oliver is good at giving the change, to make him feel comfortable, to have confidence in him, when he does not feel that way at all. I am like that too. Oliver is not well in his skin because he can not live as he wishes: only Elio manages to break through his defenses.

- TC - This Italian summer reminded me of my holidays in France in Le Chambon-sur-Lignon in the family of my father in Haute-Loire. In small European cities there is a different awareness of time: we have breakfast, we discuss, we read newspapers, we bask in the sun ...

- How did you prepare for your roles?

-TC - With Luca, we tried to stay close and faithful to the book. I have also been inspired by other films of transition to adulthood and awakening to sexuality, such as Y tu mama tambien by Alfonso Cuaron and La vie d'Adèle by Abdellatif Kechiche.( Blue is the warmest colour is the english tittle)

AH- The book portrays Elio's point of view which is not very reliable (laughs). It is enough for Oliver to say hello to him so that Elio finds cala fantasy. Conversely, if Olivier leaves without saying a word it's a bastard. Researchers gave me an idea of ​​what it is like to be gay and Jewish in the 80s in the United States on the East Coast.

- What were your most delicate scenes to shoot?

- AH- The dance scene. Oliver had to let go, get lost in space and time. This is exactly the antithesis of who I am. Swinging in front of 75 extras and technicians without music is the most uncomfortable thing I've ever done, much more than sex scenes!

- TC - The most pointed was the piano scenes because in the book Elio is a little genius. I arrived in Italy a month and a half before shooting started. I am often asked about the scenes of love, Luca filmed them with a lot of delicacy. I never had to fear that they were opportunists or voyeurs.

-Did call me by your name change your outlook on life?

- AH - In this film, there is absolutely no exposure. At no point does Luca Guadagnino tell you what these characters feel. Everyone can identify themselves. During our existence, we will go through bitter moments and milder moments. The accumulation of these moments makes what makes life so precious. Do not throw away the good for fear of the bad.

- TC - I think back to Michael Stuhlbag's monologue playing Elio's father. Listening to him declaim it's like I heard a little voice say to me, "Timmy, hunt exhilarating experiences. Coup d’essai... coup de maître !

Avec cette histoire d'amour loufoque et poétique, Olivier Bourdeaut, inconnu de 36 ans, a séduit le monde entier.

Rien ne prédisposait Olivier Bourdeaut, né au bord de l'océan Atlantique en 1980, troisième d'une fratrie de cinq, à devenir écrivain. Il fut de son propre aveu, un cancre avec un «C» majuscule. Chez ses parents, pas de télévision ou de console de jeux vidéo. «On avait le choix entre l'ennui et la lecture.» Olivier a donc lu beaucoup, tout et n'importe quoi, des classiques, des auteurs étrangers, des vies de sportifs. Renvoyé de l'école, il s'est engagé sur la voie des petits boulots. La liste de ses expériences est impressionnante. Agent immobilier, responsable d'un bureau d'experts en plomb, ouvreur de robinets dans un hôpital, factotum dans une maison d'édition…

Après avoir été tenté par le journalisme, il décide d'écrire. Son premier roman, «un gros truc de plus de 500 pages», est, selon lui, «sombre et cynique». Les retours des éditeurs sont sans appel : pas question de publier une chose pareille. Olivier ne s'entête pas : «J'ai cherché à faire complètement l'inverse, à écrire quelque chose de lumineux. J'ai imaginé l'histoire d'un couple fou d'amour avec un gamin témoin de la folie de sa mère. Quand je suis arrivé à la page 60, j'ai compris que je tenais quelque chose.» Pour l'appartement parisien du couple, il s'est inspiré du film « Petit déjeuner chez Tiffany ». Pour les parents, le modèle fut le couple Fitzgerald.

Olivier Bourdeaut décida, en avril 2015, d'envoyer son manuscrit à Bordeaux, aux Éditions Finitude. Une démarche pour le moins étonnante quand on réside à Paris, où sont concentrées toutes les grandes maisons d'édition.

Quatre jours plus tard, Olivier Bourdeaut est contacté par les éditeurs bordelais, enthousiastes. Leur enthousiasme étonne le primo-romancier, qui n'est pas au bout de ses surprises. Quatre mois après l'envoi du manuscrit, les Éditions Finitude lui apprennent que les droits du livre ont été achetés par une maison d'édition allemande. L'Espagne, où le livre se déroule en partie, a suivi. Les droits ont ensuite été achetés par l'Italie, les Pays-Bas, la Suède, Israël, le Danemark et, last but not least, les États-Unis !

Le tirage d' « En attendant Bojangles » (le titre est inspiré d'une chanson de Nina Simone, Mr. Bojangles, de 1971) est revu à la hausse et atteint le chiffre énorme, pour un premier roman, de 10.000 exemplaires. Le romancier garde pourtant la tête froide et écoute volontiers les conseils des uns et des autres. Dans son «plan média», il a coché «La Grande Librairie» de François Busnel, mais refusera «On n'est pas couché» de Ruquier (il a très bien fait, NDLR du Blog !).

Début 2016, il aura suffi de quelques semaines pour que la fraîcheur de cette histoire d'amour fou (qui finit pourtant mal) séduise la presse, littéraire et grand public, et les libraires, guère habitués à pareil «olni» (« Objet Littéraire Non Identifié »). Le livre est court, peu cher et donc facile à vendre. Tout le monde en parle. On s'extasie. Tant d'originalité et de poésie font du bien. On se met à réécouter Nina Simone. Et à relire « L'Écume des jours » de Boris Vian.

Aujourd'hui, deux ans après sa sortie, le roman, qui a reçu en 2016 le Grand Prix RTL-Lire et le Prix France Télévisions, s'est vendu en grand format à plus de 300.000 exemplaires. Folio a publié en mai la version poche avec un tirage initial de 200.000 et lancé une jolie campagne d'affichage dans le métro parisien. Les cessions de droits à l'étranger concernent 29 pays. Une adaptation théâtrale signée Victoire Berger-Perrin a été donnée au Festival Off d'Avignon. À la fin de l'année, une bande dessinée sera publiée et un film pour le cinéma est en préparation. Vladimir Poutine a été piqué par la question d'un journaliste de Reuters qui évoquait la possibilité d'une extradition des douze agents russes suspectés par le procureur Robert Mueller d'avoir piraté le compte du serveur démocrate. «Nous y sommes prêts à condition que cette coopération soit réciproque», a rétorqué le chef du Kremlin, laissant entendre que les États-Unis devaient eux aussi poursuivre les espions américains opérant sur le sol russe.

Lisant ses fiches d'un ton neutre, Vladimir Poutine, lui, avait énuméré une longue liste de sujets sur lesquels Washington et Moscou pourraient coopérer, de l'établissement d'un cessez-le-feu entre Israël et la Syrie sur le plateau du Golan jusqu'au désarmement bilatéral entre les deux plus grandes puissances nucléaires, en passant par la dénucléarisation de la péninsule nord-coréenne.

Cerise sur le gâteau, le chef du Kremlin a aussi proposé de prolonger l'accord de livraison de gaz qui unit son pays à l'Ukraine et qui doit expirer à la fin de cette année. Une initiative susceptible d'apaiser à la fois Washington et l'Union européenne. Mais très vite, la relation russo-américaine a été rattrapée par ses vieux démons, ceux de l'ingérence russe dans le scrutin présidentiel de 2016. Toutes les inquiétudes que les observateurs américains et européens nourrissaient vis-à-vis de l'ambiguïté de Trump sur la Russie, et de sa capacité à être manipulé par l'ex-espion du KGB Vladimir Poutine, ont soudain trouvé confirmation.

«Un signe de faiblesse»

Ce lundi soir, des réactions indignées commençaient à fuser depuis Washington. «La Maison-Blanche est maintenant confrontée à une seule, sinistre question: qu'est-ce qui peut bien pousser Donald Trump à mettre les intérêts de la Russie au-dessus de ceux des États-Unis», a écrit le chef de l'opposition démocrate au Sénat, Chuck Schumer, sur Twitter après la conférence de presse commune des deux dirigeants à Helsinki, parlant de propos «irréfléchis, dangereux et faibles».

«Le président Trump a raté une occasion de tenir la Russie clairement responsable pour son ingérence dans les élections de 2016 et de lancer un avertissement ferme au sujet des prochains scrutins», a regretté le sénateur républicain Lindsey Graham. «Cette réponse du président Trump sera considérée par la Russie comme un signe de faiblesse», a ajouté cet élu souvent en phase avec le milliardaire républicain. «C'est une honte», a dénoncé pour sa part l'ancien sénateur d'Arizona Jeff Flake, dans l'opposition républicaine à Trump. «Je n'aurais jamais pensé voir un jour notre président américain se tenir à côté du président russe et mettre en cause les États-Unis pour l'agression russe.»

Le secrétaire général de l'Élysée, bras droit d'Emmanuel Macron, est visé par une enquête du parquet national financier sur un éventuel conflit d'intérêts entre ses postes dans la fonction publique et ses liens avec l'armateur italo-suisse MSC.

Alexis Kohler, le bras droit d'Emmanuel Macron a-t-il favorisé un armateur privé impliqué dans des discussions avec l'État et auquel il est étroitement lié? C'est, notamment, pour répondre à cette question que des perquisitions ont été menées ce mercredi à Bercy dans le cadre de l'enquête sur des soupçons de conflit d'intérêts visant le secrétaire général de l'Élysée. Ces perquisitions ont été menées dans des bureaux du ministère de l'Économie et des Finances, où Alexis Kohler a travaillé entre 2012 et 2016, a affirmé une source proche du dossier.

L'association Anticor, spécialisée dans la lutte contre la corruption et la fraude fiscale, a déposé plainte vendredi dernier auprès du parquet national financier (PNF) pour «prise illégale d'intérêt» et «trafic d'influence». Lundi, ce dernier a annoncé l'ouverture d'une enquête préliminaire, indépendamment de la plainte d'Anticor, «à la suite de la publication de plusieurs articles de presse» initiés par Mediapart début mai. La justice s'intéresse de près à un éventuel conflit d'intérêts entre les postes occupés par Alexis Kohler dans la fonction publique et ses liens familiaux et professionnels avec l'armateur italo-suisse MSC, client important de STX France, les chantiers navals de Saint-Nazaire. De loin le plus grand pourvoyeur de commandes de ces chantiers, l'armateur a joué un rôle essentiel dans les discussions sur leur avenir menées avec l'État français.

Un temps à Bercy, un temps à MSC

Dans sa plainte consultée par Le Figaro, Anticor reproche à Alexis Kohler d'avoir siégé comme représentant de l'État au conseil d'administration de STX France à partir de 2010 alors qu'il «ne pouvait ignorer qu'il existait un conflit d'intérêts», l'armateur MSC ayant été fondé et dirigé par les cousins de sa mère. L'association rappelle aussi que ce haut fonctionnaire quadragénaire a voulu à deux reprises rejoindre l'armateur après avoir été directeur adjoint de cabinet au ministère de l'Économie, entre 2012 et 2014 quand le poste était occupé par Pierre Moscovici et entre 2014 et 2016 quand Emmanuel Macron lui a succédé.

La première fois, en avril 2014, la commission de déontologie, l'instance chargée de contrôler le départ des agents publics dans le secteur privé, s'était opposée à sa demande. Mais en août 2016, quand Emmanuel Macron avait quitté Bercy, Alexis Kohler avait finalement obtenu le feu vert de la commission et rejoint MSC Croisières comme directeur financier. Tout en occupant ces hautes fonctions chez l'armateur, il était devenu un membre actif de la campagne présidentielle d'Emmanuel Macron.

Sur cette période, Anticor soupçonne Alexis Kohler d'être intervenu comme cadre de MSC dans une réunion à Bercy en mars 2017 sur la reprise de STX France, alors menacé de faillite.STX France avait finalement fusionné avec son concurrent italien Fincantieri et MSC n'était pas monté au capital du groupe comme il le souhaitait. Neuf mois après son arrivée chez MSC, M. Kohler avait rejoint Emmanuel Macron pour devenir son secrétaire général de l'Élysée, un poste de tour de contrôle crucial dans le fonctionnement de l'exécutif.

Soutien de l'Élysée

Interrogé par Médiapart, Alexis Kohler a déclaré qu'il a «toujours informé sa hiérarchie des situations dans lesquelles il aurait pu se trouver en conflit d'intérêts» et «s'est toujours déporté pour éviter lesdites situations». L'Élysée a réagi en indiquant que son secrétaire général, Alexis Kohler, avait «pris note» de la plainte déposée contre lui par l'association anticorruption. La présidence a rejeté «des soupçons totalement infondés jetés sur lui à l'évidence en raison de ses fonctions».

Christophe Castaner, délégué général de la République en marche, est venu à son secours lundi en affirmant qu'il n'y avait pas d'«affaire» Alexis Kohler. «Je ne qualifie pas d'“affaire” le fait qu'une structure, Anticor, qui est habituée à cela, multiplie les initiatives et les perde souvent», a taclé sur Public Sénat le secrétaire d'État chargé des Relations avec le Parlement. Christophe Castaner a cependant jugé «normal» qu'Anticor «puisse saisir la justice si elle a un doute». Depuis plusieurs années, cette association est devenue un acteur, parfois contesté, de la justice financière qu'elle a plusieurs fois bousculée avec des plaintes à fort retentissement médiatique.
