Hallucinations: My character will have hallucinations about your character
It had happened once, when Ray was watching a scene unfold before him. When all his tension died down for a moment and he was caught up with only the capability of watching as everything happened. Shock, awe, all those things were crashing down on him, and he was practically ready to give out then. The one that jolted him out of that state was none but him. The illusion of his voice brought him back again to see the sight, and really take it in. It was one he would never have imagined possible, one he had ruled out almost immediately… Yes,
‘It’s a scene we both thought was impossible to witness.’
He had heard him say. Or rather, he thought he would have heard him say.
That was the only time it had ever happened, that he’d imagine his brother was still well, alive, with them. It was different. Encouraging, guiding, playing, just as he was when he was alive.
What he was used to seeing was… A different matter. 'Why?’ is what he was far more used to hearing. Traces of them in the shade, the rooms, the books, the flora, those were the sort of things he had learned to handle.
Yet, that is neither here nor there. When it came to this instance… He truly was bested by him that day. 'That isn’t like you at all.’ A ghost of a statement, followed by an equally airy chuckle. 'Are you really writing me off that quickly?’ Ray’s head jolted upwards, pulled from his deep thinking, yet no one was really there.
…
Later that day he and his siblings made a promise to meet.
The young child came second after his brother, whom he noted was the most punctual of the three. His pupils dilated, hand trembled as he reached out, shaken still, as he placed a hand on their shoulder. The sense of fabric under his fingers told him what he wanted to know– he’s real.
A practiced smile emerged on his face as he steeled his grip and addressed his sibling, “Hey. Emma’s not here yet, huh?”
