[☣️] “ ‘Tidy house, tidy mind.’ ” —There’s something in the way Father Necrosis spoke that said maybe, at one point of time, in this man’s long life: there was a live laugh love sign somewhere in his home.

“Something I live by, for both the home and my work spaces. You wouldn’t believe how many assume I live in some sort of dusty dungeon!”

His deep-bellied laugh is muffled, as is every sound he ever makes from beneath that beaked mask of his (but if you listen closely, you could maybe make out one undignified snort).

“Absolutely preposterous.” <- It’s as good as any to mention that he does, in fact, live in a mansion that resemble a castle when planetside … but that’s neither here nor there.

What Necrosis also failed to mention are the quarantined sectors of his home; one where he may disrobe without the fear of infecting all of Earth to The Rot, and another even deeper in the bowls of his home— where not a single soul could hear a peep.

since i first cooked up his character, i always wanted him to have these weird, dark, inky tendrils (similar to venom tbh) but never quite figured out how to make it work so they’ve been left off his bio

buuuut now that he’s been swirling in my noggin again— i’m thinking it could be some sort of oil secretion that lives on the outer layer of his skin. not infected with THE ROT as it acts like how oil and water separate when not mixed.

most likely self-spliced into his dna as a last resort measure against keeping the rot from spreading to others if he were to get exposed from his suit (despite How He Is™️, Necrosis genuinely does not want this infection to spread to others. will this stop him from doing all other sorts of harm to others? noooo no…)

"Admittedly, it has been a long time since even I had thought of such things for myself— my research consumes most of my time, so I am afraid that ... mingling ... is not apart of my current focus."

A cop-out answer like any given before, but really, how could it be a focus for him? A mere direct touch of his skin could infect any living being with rot. How could one love another with such an illness? Though, perhaps there was one ...

💚 Siiigh. Only one reason not to date someone named Father Necrosis? I’ll try my best to avoid the most obvious red flags here (risk of being infected with incurable flesh-melting space disease, risk of being experimented on, risk of having to deal with his monologues, etc etc etc)

Despite his usual demeanor, he has anger issues that are just barely concealed under his polite mannerisms. Interrupt him during his work one too many times or tick him off in a verbal disagreement— and a particularly nasty side of him will peek out.

💖 It pains me to admit that he’d be one of the best people to bring home to your family to meet. Extremely chivalrous and polite, excels in small talk, and he’s rich. Even if his covered appearance comes off as unsettling, there’s a good chance it’ll all just get swept under the rug of being an eccentric rich dude. 

A lot of your needs and family’s needs will be met thanks to his influence and wealth.

A nasty, nasty man now added to the ATLAS info sheet! YIPPEE! The new information is also below the cut as well:

[☣️] FATHER NECROSIS An Upper Echelon whose studies revolve around genetic engineering & splicing— he is obsessed with evolving, curing the incurable, and of course: becoming a god. (<- a more…discreet goal)

He is the leading scientist behind the Ectoplasm Project and Experiment 713.

Personality:

A seemingly polite and proper gentleman— Necrosis is rather respectable and civil for a mad scientist. That is, until he isn’t. A man built on contradictions, he’s domineering yet patient. Underneath the niceties, Necrosis is a cruel, calculating and cunning man who will stop at nothing to reach his goals.

Appearance:

Covered head to toe in garb that resembles a plague doctor, a metallic mask whose filters reverberate a heavy voice. Suit is connected with mechanical pauldrons and various wires, tubes, and phials bolted in. 5’6 manlet. Necrosis’ very own face remained one of ATLAS’ greatest mysteries. For the best (NIGHTMARE NIGHTMARE NIGHTMARE)

Abilities:

STASIS / NULL A unique, self-inflicted enhancement he had carefully spliced on himself to give him a proper upper edge against the experiments of ATLAS— Necrosis has a natural, nauseating miasmic aura around him. The debilitating effects range from a general unease, to nauseating vertigo to life draining. His stasis is also capable of general power nullification via the life-force absorption. More spliced secrets and genetic mutation lay underneath, all kept confidential to appear as human as possible.

Extras:

THE ROT: Has an incurable disease caught long ago in space. Something akin to an infectious cancer— Necrosis is covered head to toe to keep the infection from spreading. Whatever remains of his human flesh is rotting, and everything both hooked up and spliced into his genetics is the desperate acts of a genius to cure himself. 

Necrosis has spliced his own DNA with countless other lifeforms and had self-experimented his own genetics in a vain attempt to cure the rot, or at the very least, halt its spread. The results are varying, but no cure.

His work is just as contradictory as himself. He has developed incredible advancements and remedies for humankind through his dastardly research, however in the same vein, he has also assisted in the creation of some of ATLAS’ more terrifying bio-weapons.

Survival after the containment breach is currently unknown (he did, the guy is a roach)

Relationships:

GHOST-713 (Ophelia)

Necrosis is the primary scientist that leads the research team for the projects consisting of Ectoplasm and GHOST-713. He is deeply engrossed, if not borderline obsessed, with GHOST-713; the obsession beginning due to the unforeseen (and unknown) compatibility between her and the ectoplasmic core. Necrosis believes that the missing key to formulating a cure for the rot is through her symbiotic relationship with the ectoplasm. Over time, the mystery behind her ectoplasmic core drives him further into madness. The one thing he cannot figure out: it haunts him, it intrigues him— he wants it for himself. It’s a deep, sickly twisted yearning that lures out his megalomaniac power trips.  With his ability of stasis, he is the primary reason why GHOST-713 is kept under control despite her incredibly volatile moveset at her disposal. GHOST-713 is terrified of him.

JOSEPH (Doc)

A one sided relationship— Necrosis has a deep respect for Joseph’s own work, both in his medical field as well as his uncannily sharp wit (and he rather enjoys the doctor’s…occasional personality quirks. Deems it a breath of fresh air).  Joseph would like absolutely nothing to do with this man, but it’s hard being a boss’ favorite— so at the very least, he’ll strive in the slight leeway and wiggle room he can get while in good favor with Necrosis. Despite Necrosis’ fondness for the doctor, a twisted envy bubbles below the surface, especially when Joseph gets closer to GHOST-713.

🧪☣️// At first I thought Doc would be too intimidated to talk back to Necrosis in any shape or form— AND WHILE THAT STILL MOSTLY HOLDS TRUE— the idea of Doc still being his snippy-snarky self just more jaded towards Necrosis who always reacts with a:

is waaay too funny for me not to incorporate.

Father Necrosis’ posture remained pristine as a hefty chuckle followed. His chin held high alongside that walking cane of his. It dug into the ground to keep the geneticist high and mighty.

“I will find her again.”

His grip tightened. It betrayed the ever existent, inkling of doubt, as death loomed closer.

I think The Hypothetical Fandom™️ would try really hard to piece together WHY she and the ectoplasm were compatible. There’d be headcanons that are as simple as “Sofia’s body was more resilient than others” (which is easily debunked, there were far more fitting hosts that did not survive compatibility) to theories about Sofía/Ophelia being some sort of “chosen one” maybe.

End of the day, unless future me decides to retcon this for something more narratively substantial down the line, there is no reason. It’s not her or the ectoplasm’s doing, and it isn’t luck. It Just Is. (cosmic horror lets gooooo)

[🧪] Besides your face/voiceclaim, who do you think would be cast as your character? [🧪]

THIS IS SO HARD….. T.eldryn Sero has SUCH the perfect cadence for Doc. I guess the easy, cheap man’s way out would be P.hineas Welles? <- he was the blueprint that sparked the idea to MAKE Doc so sometimes I accidentally read Doc’s dialogue with his voice (oops)

[☣️] What would be the ‘incorrect but wildly popular’ interpretation of your character in fandom? [☣️]

What wouldn’t be an incorrect yet popular interpretation about Necrosis? One of the biggest thats popping out to me rn is that his obsession for Ophelia would be interpreted as a yandere-esque love?

And even then i wouldn’t call that too far off tbh… but I wouldn’t classify it as love either— it’s an obsession through and through that can be disgustingly possessive and controlling. It’s less of an intense abusive love and much more of a cruel child having a favorite toy if you smell what I’m stepping in?
