omg please rec me some hebrew music...i’m working at my jewish summer camp this year and i want my kids to think i’m the coolest person ever (also israeli music slaps)

i have personal fave israeli bands i always rec to everyone, but they’re both rock bands and one even sings in english sometimes so idk how relevant they are to this if you want the true israel experience oof (if you wanna check them out though, they’re called mercedes band - מרסדס בנד - and hayehudim - היהודים aka the jews. also big rec to monica sex - מוניקה סקס - who have some classic israeli rock songs worth checking out)

highkey classic israeli band is kaveret (כוורת), i’m like 99% sure they were in the eurovision before too. some of their songs’ lyrics are really funny (my fave is פה קבור הכלב. it has the classic line of “if you cook spaghetti and the water doesn’t boil, how about you light the fire because that what everybody does”). honestly copying the hebrew name to the youtube search brings up a bunch of great songs if you wanna check it out!

going to modern music, i think the biggest artists here rn are static and ben-el? i mean, they started releasing songs in english now too since they’re so big, and their songs are like, lowkey memes but also genuinely so fun and really good???? my personal faves are zahav (זהב) and silsulim (סלסולים) but they have many other great ones! you can check them out of spotify, it has all their songs and you don’t need ot struggle with typing in hebrew for it!!

other hebrew songs i personally like and are also p known here are shoshana by avraham tal (שושנה - אברהם טל) and bagilgul haze by shalom hanokh (בגלגול הזה - שלום חנוך. idk how to write his name in english rip)

extra rec, if you love pop punk and the likes: lu haiti pirat (לו הייתי פיראט) by useless id fucking SLAPS. it’s originally an old song, and the lyrics are in like fancy old hebrew, but they turned it into a neat punk song bc that’s their genre (unfortunately they sing mostly in english tho) and literally everyone i know either loves it or is at least in awe by this cover bc it’s so cool even if punk’s not your thing. i can’t not rec this asdshfgsd

you can find more cool israeli songs or artists by looking at old (i’d say 2010 and earlier) eurovision performances we sent, we sent some great songs that became classics here and older artists released more great songs in their career! :0
