the coffee

whether it’s your sharp tongue, your tendency to blow hot or cold, or the familiarity of you, you’re the coffee. don’t immediately assume that your undercurrent means you’re bitter, a common misconception, because people who like coffee always make it work for them. coffee doesn’t always have to be dark, it can be a warmth that’s comforting and the first start to a day. you aren’t nearly as tough as you make out to be, but we’ll keep your secret. you’re a constant, won’t ever go out of style. not everyone’s taste, but what is these days? an unknown quote reads “I like drinking coffee alone and reading alone... I realize that even though I like being alone, I don’t fancy being lonely” remember you don’t always need to face things yourself, there’s a reason people suggest “coffee?” when they want to spend time together.

2. DOES YOUR CHARACTER HAVE ANY NOTEWORTHY FEATURES? FRECKLES? DIMPLES? A SCAR SOMEWHERE UNUSUAL? ETC.

Reno’s got a few freckles, but they usually go unnoticed due to them being hidden underneath his work suit. He’s also got a few tattoos, the most noticeable ones being the two that run along the high portion of his cheekbones and the rest also hidden underneath his suit. There are a decent amount of scars scattered along his upper body, thanks to the harder missions where combat is highly most likely and the occasional explosion or two involved in a few other missions.

4. DO THEY HAVE ANY VERBAL TICS? DO THEY HAVE TROUBLE PRONOUNCING CERTAIN WORDS OR GETTING THEIR THOUGHTS ACROSS CLEARLY?

A main verbal tic that Reno has is his habit of adding ‘yo’ at the end of every other sentence when he speaks. He never really bothers on how that came to be, but he’s done it since he was young so it just kinda became part of his everyday routine. As far as pronouncing words, he’ll struggle with words that he believes are ‘too fancy’ for his own vocabulary (moreso that he’s too lazy to repeat). When it comes to his thoughts, it would depend on the situation: If he’s not under stress or in a rush can he provide clear thoughts, but whenever he needs to think quick or is in a rush to get his thoughts together is the times he’ll fumble just for a minute or two before focusing on what it is he is trying to say.

5. WHAT ARE THEIR CHIEF TENSION AREAS?

Considering he spends a vast majority of his time running around during his missions or even scaling a wall or two when the opportunity arises, these areas would most likely be his back, arms, shoulders and heavily on his knees and legs.

19. IF YOUR CHARACTER WAS SUDDENLY CHALLENGED, WOULD THEY RATHER RUN AWAY OR STAY AND FIGHT?

It’s extremely rare when Reno would ever flee from a fight almost instantly, seeing as he’s normally the type the guy that after a few rounds he will still go and ask ‘is that all you got’. The few times it can be expected he would run away is when he is positive as fuck that he is outnumbered, overpowered (these two options would most likely be due to being able to find or call for back up) or if it’s a monster that seems could kill him in a quick hit or two.

9 - DOES YOUR CHARACTER DREAM OR ARE THEIR NIGHTS FILLED WITH AN EMPTY BLACKNESS? DESCRIBE A DREAM THEY’VE HAD OR A NIGHT THEY COULDN’T SLEEP AND WHAT THEY DID TO PREOCCUPY THEIR TIME.

It’s not very often Reno dreams, but that’s on the rare occasion where he decides to skip a night out (yes, shocking) and settles on sleeping until the sun breaks out..or until either he gets a phone call or he manages to actually hear his alarm for once. A time where he struggled to sleep did he decide to pass the time sitting out on the balcony of his apartment, admiring the smoky lights of the city around him as he smoke a few cigarettes and a few glasses of liquor that would hopefully help him in falling asleep.

17 - IS YOUR CHARACTER AN INTROVERT OR AN EXTROVERT? HOW DO THEY HANDLE BIG CROWDS OF PEOPLE?

Definitely an extrovert for the most part, but whenever he remembers a moment in his past or any event that had a huge impact on him *coughsector7cough* that obviously affected him greatly, he resorts to being more along the lines of an introvert and has the habit of overthinking about the situation a little more than necessary.Big crowds of people are not really much of an issue with him, seeing as his job alone usually involves him being tossed into the masses. The only time he will get a little nervous is when he’s chasing a perp and they use that size of a crowd to try to get the jump on him. It’s more nervous for the people around him than himself, because no body count = a job well done.

All the Little Things Meme

☕ - Tea or Coffee?  How do they take theirs?

Reno isn’t really a big fan of tea, since he usually calls it leaf water, but put a cup of coffee in front of him and he’ll chug it in seconds. He usually takes it straight up black, unless he’s running on no sleep does he decide to add enough sugar to kill a man.

🏠 - What does their living space look like?

It’s a pretty modern sized apartment located in Sector 8, since that’s normally Turks jurisdiction. Usually the apartment complexes there are the closest to the Shinra building, in case he needs to be there on the double.

It’s pretty much got all the necessities and a few luxuries, but other than that there’s not much to it. Reno’s bedroom and living room both come equipped with balconies, which he normally uses for simply smoking and drinking after a long work day. Just like his work desk, it is messy but also organized in a way only he understands.

He has a small corner of his bedroom designated as an ‘office’, which only contains his work-issued laptop, his EMR and sometimes his PHS.

The living room is probably the largest living space, his bedroom a close second since it comes with a closet and its bathroom. The kitchen is the right size for one person with a small dining like area in besides it.

As far as decor, it came with the furnishing, and he really hasn’t made much effort to change anything. The whole living space is pretty monochromatic, mostly in black and white. (most likely a Shinra thing).

💤 - Do they like sleeping in or waking up early?

If Reno can get away with it will he sleep in (and explains his usual tardiness into work), because waking up early is for the crazy people! Unless of course Tseng’s blowing up his phone in the middle of the night for a last minute mission or emergency briefing, then that’s when he thanks the heavens for liquid power..aka Coffee.

💢 - Something other’s do that gets on their nerves

When people go and mess with his things, primarily his work desk. Whenever someone comes and tries to 'correct’ his desk does it put him a sour mood. What everyone may see as a disaster, Reno sees as an 'organized mess’ because surprisingly he can find whatever he needs in those stacks. Or when they correct the way he says certain things so he sounds more 'proper’.
