               i. a compass that doesn’t waver

               you are someone who is certain of what you want. maybe you always have been, or maybe you made a discovery that you haven’t been able to tear your eyes away from. your heart is set and certain. you fight endlessly for your goals. above all else, you know who you are and what you are trying to achieve. just be careful not to tear yourself or others apart in pursuit of your ideals.

what kind of love are you?

i. love as a choice.

​                    you choose love. love does not come to you easily, but every day you wake up and choose it. it would be so easy, wouldn't it, to grow cold and callous and grim. but you rise to greet the world, making the conscious effort to find something, anything to love. when you fall for someone, you do not kid yourself of their flaws. instead, you resolve to see them for who they are, mistakes and all and you love them all the same. your love is work, and it does not come easy, your love sweats and toils. it is calloused and sunburned; it bears scars and comes with stories. your love is work, it is no less valuable for it. being loved by you is like being loved by a gardener, a mother, a teacher. your love may not always be the simplest but it is worth the effort.

                 the  themes  i  try  and  repeat  /  i  think  are  incredibly  important  to  natasha  as  a  character  are  in  my  pinned.  i  know  having  those  'study  in'  things  is  a  trend  and  some  make  fun  of  it  while  others  use  it  as  purple  prose  filler  were  important  character  info  should  be.  i  put  them  there  bc  otherwise  i'd  forget  about  them  but  even  before  i  put  them  in  my  pinned,  i  talked  about  a  few  of  them  here  and  there.  those  themes  aren't  a  surprise  to  the  very  few  who  have  been  on  the  receiving  end  of  my  ooc  rambles  about  natasha.  at  least  i  like  to  think  they  aren't  a  surprise.  especially  when  a  dash  game  quiz  hits  right  and  makes  me  lose  my  mind  like  THIS  ONE.  there's  a  body  met  sitting  in  docs  where  i  talk  about  how  essential  femininity  is  to  natasha.  (  idk  if  i’m  going  to  post  it  or  not.  might  send  the  link  to  those  that  want  it  idk  )  i  also  try  to  mention  personal  choice  as  often  as  possible  in  my  replies  because  it  is  a  recurring  theme  throughout  her  comic  history  and  essential  to  her  character.  (  i  vaguely  mentioned  it  in  my  perception  meta  &&  the  name  meta  that  can  be  found  HERE  and  HERE.  )  in  the  body  /  physique  meta  i  also  mention  symbolism  a  bit.    i  like  to  use  (  might  even  over  use  )  her  being  shrouded  in  black  /  shadows.  i  also  make  a  point  to  mention  there  being  a  difference  between  the  woman  and  the  widow.  i  like  to  tweak  the  latter  a  bit  and  say  the  woman  behind  the  widow  or  some  version  of  that..  the  latter  options  i  mention  /  talk  about  /  sort  of  explain  in  the  perception  meta  while  also  using  the  phrasing  in  the  living  space  edits  i  have  yet  to  post.  i  also  used  the  phrase  in  a  promo  that  i  made  like  two  years  ago  that  never  posted.  

                 i  love  imagery  /  visuals  and  while  i  think  they’re  more  for  me  than  for  my  writing  partners,  i  like  to  pretend  they  add  to  my  writing.  natasha  is  canonly  one  of  the  most  beautiful  women  in  the  marvel  universe  and  because  of  this  i  like  talking  about  her  features  Often  because  lbr  natasha  is  absolutely  stunning  when  drawn  by  my  fav  artists  and  the  fcs  i  use  are  equally  stunning  so  why  not  talk  about  the  beauty  that  is  miss  romanova?    i  more  often  than  not  will  mention  her  hair  along  with  lips---  which  she  9/10  times  has  painted  /  stained  some  shade  of  red.  also  her  blue  eyes  which  are  often  seen  as  cold  since  the  color  is  associated  with  ice  and  winter,,,,  but  with  natasha  they’re  yet  another  contradiction  that  makes  her  who  she  is.  another  one  i  use  as  often  as  i  can  is  that  of  a  wolf.  not  only  is  it  in  canon  but  i  like  the  visual  in  my  head  of  her  smile  which  is  utterly  breathtaking  and  charming  yet  can  turn  intimidating  by  the  smallest  calculated  change.  there  are  quite  a  few  others  and  some  that  haven't  used  them  in  a  while.  i  might  dig  up  that  list  i  made  ages  ago  to  try  and  add  more  visual  variety  into  my  writing.  aver  que  pasa

what kind of art would someone make about you?

i. paintings.

everything you do is a work of art. you are beautiful without even trying, simply lounging around looks like you’re posing and waiting for someone to sketch you. you come off as light and easy but you are often misunderstood. people don’t tend to see you for who you really are, and focus too much on how effortlessly you appear to navigate the world. there's some kind of darkness behind your eyes that only some can see under all the layers of paint.

natasha  has  a  tendency  to  self-isolate  after  particularly  rough  assignments  even  though  she  knows  it  isn’t  good  for  her  because  contrary  to  what  most  people  think,  she  wasn’t  meant  to  be  alone  for  long  periods  of  time.  which  is  why  after  missions  she  does  her  best  to  surround  herself  with  a  few  friends.  even  just  being  surrounded  by  the  sound  of  her  neighbors  is  enough.  although  sometimes  self-isolation  wins  out  and  she  escapes  to  one  of  her  ‘ivory  towers’ .

                  everyone  knows  the  fandom  thing  about  how  going  down  on  natasha  is  a  trust  exercise  hardy-har-har  so  funny....  when  in  actuality,  natasha  doing  anything  around  people  she’s  friends  with  is  a  trust  exercise  because  you  don’t  know  if  she  has  any  ulterior  motives.  you  don’t  know  if  its  an  act.  is  it  her  true  self  she  is  exposing  to  you  in  that  very  moment?  is  that  the  natasha  that  other’s  don’t  get  to  see?  you  don’t  know.  you  also  don’t  know  if  she’ll  even  be  there  in  the  next  few  hours  or  if  she’ll  leave  without  any  explanation,  the  only  thing  letting  you  know  that  it  wasn’t  a  dream  is  the  smell  of  her  perfume.  but  even  the  lingering  scent  of  her  perfume  was  a  deliberate  act  on  her  part.  she’s  probably  lied  to  you  at  least  a  dozen  or  more  times  since  you’ve  known  her,  but  you  don’t  know  about  what.  hell,  she  might  not  actually  have  lied  to  you  yet  but  you  can’t  be  100%  certain  of  that  either.  the  only  thing  that  is  certain  is:  if  she  considers  you  a  friend,  she  cares  about  you  and  will  protect  you.  being  friends  with  natasha  is  its  own  trust  exercise.

SLEEPING HABITS

NAME : Natasha Romanova

RESIDENCE :  little odessa, brooklyn, ny / new york, ny

TYPE OF BED :  in her odessa apartment she has a full sized bed. while in her new york pent house it is a kingsize four post bed. the various safehouses she has have either a pullout couch or some type of cot / inflatable mattress. the homes belonging to her deep-cover aliases have beds ranging in size from full to king.

NUMBER OF BLANKETS :  two. bedsheet and duvet. more blankets will be placed on top during colder months as needed

NUMBER OF PILLOWS : 2 large ones

TYPE OF CLOTHING :  depending on the weather and how tired she is it can range from falling asleep fully clothed, to wearing silk or cotton nightgowns to sleeping fully nude.

DO THEY SLEEP WITH COMPANY? :  liho sometimes ends up being her bed partner but on most occasions she sleeps alone. 

DO THEY SLEEP BETTER WITH COMPANY? :  no however she does have very few people that she is willing to let herself sleep next to.

DOES IT MATTER WHERE THEY SLEEP? :  no, she is able to get some form of rest pretty much anywhere. of course, like any normal person, she prefers a bed to getting a cat nap in on some military plane or on some partnered up mission between stake out shifts.

WHAT DO THEY DO IF THEY CANNOT FALL ASLEEP? :   she makes herself tea or tries to busy herself doing something productive. she will only turn to high strength sleeping pills when she feels it is the only option, which is rare in and of itself.

FREQUENT DREAMS,  NIGHTMARES :   dreams but for the most part she doesn’t remember them upon waking up. nightmares have happened but they‘re few and far between. however, when she does have them, they can make sleeping difficult.

DEEP SLUMBER OR NAPS :  when she is not working and in her own residence, it is usually deep sleep.

WHEN DO THEY SLEEP :   when she’s not on assignment she sleeps when she’s tired. when working her sleeping patterns can vary greatly

WHAT COULD WAKE THEM UP :   if she’s at her residence then any extremely loud sounds like a door being slammed too roughly or someone banging on the door. if she is taking cat naps while working then anything / everything can wake her up. it really just depends how comfortable / safe she feels in the environment she is in when sleeping.

EARLY OR LATE RISER : during her free time she is not a morning person. if someone forces her to get up early she is not above being making her displeasure known.

                    you have tried. you have carried the weight of the world on your shoulders and accepted more responsibilities than you have ever wanted, even intended to gain. it isn't crushing - you are strong enough to hold it - but you are choking. you don't know what to do with it. you don't know where it goes, how to move this weight everyone knows you can hold onto, and do you even want to get rid of it? never. you would not give this to - force this on - anyone else. but you can't. but you are choking on it. your body will hold it up even when you lose all the air in your lungs, and your footing, and your courage. it does not mind choking you. it seems almost designed to do so. if you weren't wrung out you wouldn't be doing this thing properly.
