Duckvember - Inner and Childhood Duck (Ducks) - Tribute to Fairy Tales - Duckverse in Fairy Tales

I drew this in honor of one of my favorite fairy tales I listened to in my early childhood, and also in honor of one of the best animated movies I've ever seen. Dedicated to both American and Soviet animation.

One drawing represents Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale "The Snow Queen" (from 1844), which received an animated adaptation in the Soviet Union (then Russia) on November 1, 1957 as "The Snow Queen" (Снежная королева). Donald and his sister Della play Kai and Gerda (as kids), while Magica de Spell plays the Snow Queen, so I drew her more like an ice queen than she really is Magica. And Donald would be a good role for Kai considering his behavior. I recommend reading that fairy tale as well as watching that movie.

The second drawing represents the Grimm brothers' fairy tale "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" (from 1812), which received an animated adaptation by Walt Disney and his animators in 1937. Although it's the first feature length animated film, it's still for me one of the best animated films I've seen that really represents a revolution in animation. What I've drawn is more of a Disney version than an actual version of the fairy tale, but the roles I've assigned go with it. Donald is Prince Charming, Daisy Duck is Snow White, Magica de Spell is the Evil Queen (Queen Grimhilde), while Donald's nephews and Daisy's nieces and Gyro's nephew Newton are dwarfs. Huey is Grumpy, April is Bashful, Dewey is Doc, May is Sleepy, Louie is Happy, Newton is Sneezy and June is Dopey. And then there's Ratface, who is Magic's pet, since the Evil Queen also has a crow as her pet. And yes, the love couple between Donald and Daisy as well as between Snow White and the Prince have a lot of similarities. :D And yes, I don't like that they are doing a live-action of Snow White, the animated version will remain the best.

I hope you like these drawings and love this kind of cosplay as well as fairy tales. There will be other cosplay related to fairy tales and other literary works. Feel free to reblog if you want, but using ideas like this without my permission is prohibited.

A more or less detailed description of Dark!Gerda's appearance and her role in the plot. Just in time!

At first, just like with Orm's frozen evil version, Dark!Gerda was supposed to simply be the opposite of her normal self. And even now I'm still having a bit of trouble deciding on her origins. Maybe she was created directly by the Snow King as he froze her, similar to Lake Gao's curse. Or maybe she's a separate character for a reverse!AU which follows the story of Gerda and Dark!Gerda instead of a SK and Orm. Guess you can interpret it how you deem more enjoyable!

In any case Dark!Gerda represents such Gerda's traits as loneliness, burden of responsibility/early adulthood, the pain of losing her parents, which she still hasn't come to terms with. Since Dark!Gerta is the result  of Lake Gao's curse, she's motivated by anger, sternness and narcissism - traits that are extremely unusual for her character.

In Orm's case it was pretty clear that the lake punished him for his unfulfilled oath, however, Gerda is trapped in her own fears, which results in her Dark!version embodying them and her hopelessness.

But again, since Dark!Gerda is the curse of Lake Gao, she will blindly, without understanding or reflecting on herself, insist on pursuing a goal similar to Snow King's - to cover everything with ice. The reason? There's none. She only cares that in any case suffering will come to the cursed one. A. k.a. herself, with her body turned into ice. There will be nothing left, except for a couple of her friends and her brother. There will be no future, because she doesn't know how to live in it.

This is Gerda's fear. If only she had enough strength she'd be able to face it, but the curse drove her into this manic state of mind leaving a permanent mark.

Rollda and Kaifida headcanons

I don't remember, when and why I wrote that, so I'm posting them, so I can erase it from my file.

Rollda:

Rollan teaches his kids, when they’re older how to ice skate and play ice hockey.

Rollan and Gerda used to discuss together baby names before going to sleep.

Rollan and Gerda share both their chores at home.

When they have to cook for more than 6 persons, they cook together.

Rollan keeps Gerda on his lap and pets her belly for comfort and to give the baby love.

Gerda lived for Rollan’s belly rubs during her pregnancy.

Rollan will at hard times feel helpless, when Gerda during her pregnancy falls into the mood swings.

Gerda’s pregnancy would also lead her to randomly transform into a dragon or make random body parts of her dragon-self appear spontaneously.

Rollan is the big spoon, most of the times. Other times Gerda will take that spot. On colder or sadder moments the two snuggle together for warmth.

Gerda’s favorite moment of the snuggling, was to be in Rollan’s arms enjoying his warmth.

The duo chat often before falling asleep.

Rollan tries his best to make time to play with their kids.

Rollan enjoys it to play Ice Hockey with the kids.

Between Helena and Roscoe, Helena is Rollan’s favorite child.

Gerda loves her twins. She mainly admires Roscoe for being a solid copy of Rollan.

Rollan terribly misses the days, he and Gerda could be by themselves.

Rollan helped Gerda’s brother Kai about how fatherhood is like.

Gerda gets along pretty well with Rollan’s mother.

Gerda’s biggest joy is it, when she along with Rollan take their kids on the walk.

Kaifida:

Kai does big part of the household.

Kai is the small spoon.

Kai was frustrated during Alfida’s mood swings during her pregnancy.

Alfida was eternitally grateful for Kai’s patience around her heavy months.

Kai visited Rollan once in a while to ask for fatherhood advices.

Their future kid is a mix of the two parents.

Both Alfida and Kai chat together, how they solve their kid’s future together.

Alfida teaches her kid how to defend himself.

Kai slowly gets along with Rollan.

Kai teaches his niece and nephew how to draw.

Снежная Королева (2012)

Решил я тут дать шанс мультфильмам про Снежную Королеву и посмотреть первую часть. Ожидания у меня были очень низкие и ничего хорошего я не ожидал... но тем не менее мультик оказался смотрибельным. Но и только. От сказки Андерсена здесь не так и много осталось, хотя казалось бы все персонажи и локации на месте. Но здесь Кай и Герда живут в приюте и о своем родстве узнали случайно (а ведь в оригинале родственниками они все-таки не были). Никакой льдинки в глаз и сердце Кая не попадало, его похитили по приказу Снежной Королевы, потому что он наследник стеклодува, да и за Гердой тоже идет охота - ее должен привести носатый и бестолковый тролль по имени Орм, который умеет превращаться в черную ласку... которая не то, чтобы сильно отличается от дизайна самого тролля. От красивой и изящной сказки Андерсена и другий прекрасных адаптаций ничего не осталось. Здесь любимую белую ласку Герды насаживают по самое небалуй на форму для пошива варежек, здесь - в мультфильме с рейтингом 0+ - звучит фраза “Шевели помидорами”. А еще у каждого женского персонажа, кроме Снежной Королевы, как бы это помягчк выразиться... очень объемная запазуха, будто это порно-мультфильм какой-то. Женщина-цветочница, которая очаровала Герду, чтобы сделать ее своей дочкой? Нет, теперь это старушка - с объемной запазухой - которая хочет делать деньги на своих цветах. Принцесса и принц, который, как думала Герда, может оказаться Каем? Просто вздорные брат и сестра, которые ссорятся со своим отцом-королем, которого озвучивает Стоянов. Да и сама Снежная Королева обзавелась ориджином и вообще она не виновата, что такая. Но при всем при этом... если не обращать внимание на пероисточник, великолепнейший советский мультфильм, сказку Шварца, неплохой фильм шестидесятых и сказку на пластинке, а еще необычный фильм с Фрейндлих... если все это забыть, а еще лучше не знать вовсе... то мультфильм не так уж и плох для юной и несведущей аудитории. Вполне себе интересный приключенческий мульт. Но без искры, без изюминки. Без волшебства и филигранного сказочного сюжета. Последующие части возможно посмотрю (там вроде и графика стала поприличнее), но точно еще нескоро. Потому что мне как-то захотелось пересмотреть советский мультфильм - там одна Снежная Королева, ледяная, прекрасная и погибельная, чего стоит. Куда тут этой швабре с лицом Белого Ходока...
